Meyers, a college dropout who joined the Army during an existential crisis. Though he lacks super-human powers of any stripe, the man is an athlete in top form, in addition to his considerable combat training and military hardware. Known Powers: (none) Limitations / Enhancements: (none) Equipment: Grenade: because sometimes you just have to blow something up real good, Footloose always has at least one grenade on his person. He can chuck this explosive to inflict Remarkable (30) Edged Attack damage to any uncovered entity within its detonation area. Grenade Launcher: should he encounter something that his M-16 can't dent, Footloose can blow it up with this one-shot weapon. This Light Anti-Tank Weapon can be an extreme detriment to enemy armor and personnel, and its projectile has these characteristics: C S B Damage Ex 20 Am 50 Ex 20 Rm 30 Edged Attack Helmet: a handy precaution in the battle field, this headgear has managed to save Footloose's life on more than one occasion. It provides the man Good (10) protection from physical attacks that strike him in the head, assuming that they don't hit him in the face, of course. Knife: you never know when your other hardware is going to fail you, or if you're going to need to cut something up. This is why Footloose always has a blade with him. He can use it to inflict Edged Attack damage in melee, or to carve through stuff of up to Incredible (40) m.s. M-16: his primary combat implement, Footloose can use this to devastating effect in combat. It may be fired to discharge one round, inflicting Typical (6) Shooting damage, a three-round burst to inflict Good (10) Shooting damage, or Excellent (20) Shooting damage 'rock 'n roll'. Sidearm: a backup should his other hardware fail him in the field (it is produced by the lowest bidder, after all), Footloose always keeps this piece handy. He can use it to discharge one round, inflicting Typical (6) Shooting damage, +1 CS in a short burst. Quirks: (none) Talents: Guns: one of those skills you always pick up in the military, Footloose is well-versed in the operation of most firearms. Whether they be standard, semi-automatic, or fully automatic rifles or pistols, Footloose may use such weapons as if his Agility was +1 CS in rank. Martial Arts type B: furthermore, Footloose has the ability to defend himself should he find himself without weaponry - even though he does carry a whole lot in the field. He may attempt any unarmed melee attacks, no matter the type, at his Fighting score +1 CS. Military / United States: the source of all his skills (though he had some in prototype before enlisting), this talent serves both as an origin and as a paycheck for Footloose. It reflects his innate understanding of the SOP, as well as his advanced combat training. Survival: an eagle scout as a youth, Footloose has always had the ability to get by when he finds himself without other people or hardware to support him - and the Army has only helped him in this regard. He can easily find enough food, water, and shelter to get by in a pinch. Contacts: Footloose is a member of the GI Joe team that has seen his fair share of action against the likes of Cobra and other terrorist nutjobs. As such, he can rely upon the team for assistance should he simply ask (as is the case with the reverse), since the Joes are a tightly-knit group. Costume: Footloose's first GI Joe field uniform consists of green and brown camouflage trousers, a short sleeved, green and brown camouflage shirt, grass green web gear and belts, dark green holsters and sheathes, black and green leather boots, and a green and brown camouflage helmet. Personality: Footloose is a supremely laid back. While he may lack ambition, he definitely does not lack in drive; he usually excels in whatever he does, if he bothers to start something. Friendly and relaxed, Footloose gets along quite well with others, no matter how hostile they are. Real Name: Andrew D. Meyers, Grade E-4 Occupation: infantryman Legal Status: citizen of the United States with no known criminal record Marital Status: single Alias(es), if any: none Group Affiliation: GI Joe, Slaughter's Marauders (GI Joe sub-team) Height: 6" Hair: brown Eyes: brown Weight: 180 lbs Other Distinguishing Characteristics: Footloose usually wears a thick brown moustache at all times. Story: Footloose is the kind of guy that has always strived for purpose in life. He works hard at everything he does, but he doesn't always seem sure what he wants. He has been an Eagle scout, the captain of his high school track team, and was his high school Valedictorian, of course. He was riding a state scholarship to a degree in physical education degree, when a switch flipped in his head, and Footloose just 'disappeared'. Wandering to the West Coast, Footloose grew 'quite weird' for several years, searching desperately for a purpose in life. Finally realizing that he had none, Footloose decided then and there to enlist in the Army, and quickly became one of that service's most distinguished infantrymen, and was trained in jump school and desert warfare after leaving basic and AIT in Fort Benning. Quickly recruited by GI Joe, Footloose was put to work by Wild Bill before he could even settle in, and given the seemingly simple task of helping him pick up some cargo. This 'milk run' quickly escalated into a full-blown battle with the Crimson Guard. During this fight, Footloose put his cargo, the Armadillo mini-tank, through its paces. While the Guard's leaders, Tomax and Xamot, managed to slip away after this fight, Footloose managed to prove himself to his fellow Joes during his very first day on the job! He went on to participate in a large number of missions against Cobra, including the Joe team's infamous invasion of Springfield. With his capabilities repeatedly on display, Footloose was chosen to join a special GI Joe team, Slaughter's Marauders - led by the Sarge himself. This squad of heavy hitters were designed as a sort of 'first wave' team of Joes to take on Cobra directly - even more so than the Joes already did. He served in this capacity until the Joes were disbanded after a series of victories against those terrorist maniacs. (Historical Divergence) Of course, they wouldn't stay down for long, and as such the GI Joe team was quickly reactivated. Though not called upon initially, Footloose was eventually pulled back into the fold when Cobra antics spiraled out of control, once again threatening to destroy the world. With their greatest attempt to conquer the world averted, Footloose presumably remains on the GI Joe team to this very day, assisting in the capture of lingering Cobra fugitives, not to mention helping to improve world security while it rebuilds from the damage Cobra caused. * 1989 VARIATIONS * Costume: Footloose's second, Slaughter's Marauders uniform includes green, blue, and brown trousers, a short sleeved, green, blue, and brown shirt over a blue T-shirt, blue web gear and belts, black holsters and sheathes, black and blue leather boots, and a black helmet. * 2005 VARIATIONS * Equipment: M-16: his primary combat implement, Footloose can use this to devastating effect in combat.
