Frag-Vipers Melee: RV 10 Coordination: RV 10 Brawn: RV 10 Fortitude: RV 6 Intellect: RV 6 Awareness: RV 10 Willpower: RV 10 Health: 36 Fortune: 26 Lifestyle: RV 15 Repute: RV -5 Origin: Like the vast majority of Cobra operatives, Frag-Vipers are but ordinary humans, lacking special powers altogether. They are aided in their duties by high tech sensors and an advanced, grenade-dispensing unit, but their prowess otherwise comes from being skilled athletes. Known Powers: (none) Limitations / Enhancements: (none) Equipment: Cesta: fed by a backpack full of explosives, the Frag-Vipers' cesta is their greatest weapon. It allows them to almost silently hurl explosives at their opponents, adding a full area to their effective range when doing so (three sectors intead of their usual two). Grenades: whether flung unaided or using their cesta and advanced helmet targeting sensors, these explosives make Frag-Vipers incredibly deadly. They can detonate to inflict rank value 30 Slashing damage to everything inside the sector in which they explode. Helmet: the large, insectoid helmet of the Frag-Viper provides them rank value 10 protection against physical attacks. But its primary purpose is to assist Frag-Vipers in the execution of their duties, doing so with a whole suite of sensors which aid the flinging of grenades. Primarily, this helmet is equipped with an automatic range finder, which provides Frag-Vipers a +1 RS to hit their foes, whether flinging grenades or firing their guns. Furthermore, they provide both nightvision and infravision capabilities to Frag-Vipers at rank value 10. Knife: as do almost all other Cobra operatives, Frag-Vipers carry a blade with them while in the field. Made from m.v. 30 materials, they can use this implement to slice through items of up to like m.v., given the time, or to inflict Slashing damage in melee. Sidearm: holstered on their left hip for use when their other hardware fails them, Frag-Vipers may discharge a single round from this firearm to inflict rank value 6 Piercing damage, or a three-round burst to inflict rank value 10 Piercing damage. Submachine Gun: when grenades are impractical, Frag-Vipers can fire a single round from these weapons to inflict rank value 6 Piercing damage, a short burst of such to inflict rank value 10 Piercing damage, or fire continuously to inflict rank value 20 Piercing damage. Quirks: (none) Skills: Guns: all Cobra operatives have the ability to wield firearms in combat, and Frag-Vipers are no exception to this rule. They may discharge any standard, semi-automatic, or fully automatic rifle or pistol as if their Coordination was +1 RS higher than is listed above. Martial Arts styles A or B: furthermore, Frag-Vipers are well-versed in the art of self-defense. They either wield style a, allowing them to Pound or Concuss foes regardless of their comparative Brawn or Fortitude, or b, granting them a +1 RS to hit in unarmed combat. Military: those Frag-Vipers who didn't master this skill before joining Cobra have definitely earned it by the time they are promoted to this rank. It allows them to function effectively within a combat unit, and gives them insight into Cobra's byzantine organizational structure. Quick Draw: not only are Frag-Vipers accurate to a fault with their cestas, but they're quick on the draw with them, too! In addition to having a +2 initiative bonus when wielding them, Frag-Vipers gain a +1 RS on multiple cesta action ACTION rolls as well! Skill / Cesta: based upon the similarly named implement used in jai-alai, the Frag-Vipers' cestas improve both their range and throwing rate with grenades. On top of that, their extensive training with this weapon provides them a +1 RS to hit when flinging those explosives! Thrown Weapons: while they specialize in the use of their cestas, Frag-Vipers can still fling weapons without them. They may do so as though their Coordination was +1 RS in value, which makes them extremely accurate when combined with the use of their helmet sensors. Contacts: Cobra invests a lot in the training of Frag-Vipers, which is why they're not quite as likely to leave one for dead should he or she find themselves in a pinch. Unless, that is, it would benefit the Command in some fashion - likely involving them saving their own bacon, most of the time. Costume: Frag-Viper uniforms feature a light brown jacket and light brown trousers as their base, beneath blue belts, holsters, sheathes, and pouches. This look is further accented with black leather boots and gloves, and their distinctive silver, oversized, almost insectoid helmets. Notes: Cobra Vipers with a good arm are often given the opportunity to become Frag-Vipers. Those who accept this offer are given extensive training in the use of a cesta, modified from that utilized in the Basque sport of jai-alai for use in the flinging of advanced explosive devices! Those who can bend their head around the use of this implement then get a raise, and are issued a host of advanced equipment that allows them to fling grenades at their opponents with great range, speed, and accuracy - the hallmark of the Frag-Viper! While many Cobras wield of rocket-propelled grenades, the problem with such weaponry is that once you fire them, everybody knows your position! Frag-Vipers, though, can almost silently rain fragmentary doom down on their foes, moving on before anyone guesses where they are. * 2006 VARIATIONS * Costume: The second Frag-Viper uniforms features a green camouflage jacket and trousers as their base, beneath light brown belts, holsters, sheathes, pouches, boots, and gloves. They retain their oversized, almost insectoid helmets, however, though they are colored black with blue lenses now.
