Space Shot F A S E R I P Res Pop Gd 10 Ex 20 Ty 6 Ex 20 Ty 6 Ex 20 Rm 30 Rm 30 Sh 0 Health: 56 Karma: 56 Origin: Despite his spectacular origin as an interplanetary space pilot for parties unknown, Space Shot himself is but a normal human, in the strictest sense. He lacks special powers of any variety, but does make use of incredibly advanced gear in the execution of his duties. Known Powers: (none) Limitations / Enhancements: (none) Equipment: Cosmic Climbing Backpack: allowing him to maneuver around outside a spacecraft, Space Shot's backpack is equipped with small ionic jets to flit around with Feeble (2) speeds (nothing fast, for his safety), as well as magnetic clamps and winches to pull himself about in a pinch. Grenades: sometimes, you just got to blow something up. Space Shot carries three grenades on him while in the field, which he can fling up to an area distant (in atmosphere) to inflict Remarkable (30) Edged Attack (fragmentary) damage to an area - devastating inside a spacecraft. LX-1 Laser Pistol: his sole sidearm, Space Shot truly loves this marvel of modern technology. He can fire it to inflict Typical (6) Armor Piercing Energy damage per deadly blast, and as a beam of coherent photons, its output lacks mass - and thus has no kickback. Space Suit: Space Shot's GI Joe field uniform is a space suit! This pressurized suit allows Space Shot to function in the depths of space if necessary, which is good for when something breaks down. Space Shot's space suit has these enhanced capabilities: * Environmental Independence: naturally, Space Shot's space suit allows him to breathe for significant lengths of time while otherwise cut off from usable air. His oxygen scrubber gives him about a week worth of air on one 'charge', allowing this ability, for air, at Shift X (150) rank. * Helmet: in addition to helping him to function in space, Space Shot's space suit also protects his head from injury. It offers him Good (10) protection against physical attacks as long as they hit him in the head, reduced to Poor (4) versus energy-based attack. * Resistance to Cold and Pressure Variance: similarly, Space Shot's space suit lets him actually survive the harsh environment of space long enough to worry about breathing in the first place. It gives him Unearthly (100) resistance to the cold and vacuum of deep space. Quirks: (none) Talents: Advanced Guns: Space Shot is well-versed in the use of advanced, energy-based weaponry - they're much more practical in outer space. He's familiar with the operation and characteristics of most such devices, and can wield them as if his Agility was +1 CS in rank. Astronaut 2: his claim to fame, Space Shot is an extraordinary space pilot! The man can operate most spacecraft as if the applicable ability score was +2 CS in rank, and receives a similar bonus when plotting a course through space or dealing with zero gravity. Guns: while he prefers directed energy weapons like his laser pistol, Space Shot has been trained in the art of conventional gunplay as well. He can fire any standard, semi-automatic, or fully automatic rifle or pistol as if his Agility was +1 CS higher than listed above. Martial Arts type B: oddly enough, Space Shot wasn't competent in personal defense techniques until he enlisted to join the GI Joe team. But now, he can engage in unarmed melee attacks such as punches, kicks, or even foot stomps as if his Fighting was +1 CS in rank! Military / United States: though he wasn't originally militarily minded, Space Shot enlisted at Duke's behest, even if he only got to serve as an active Joe for about a year. The man knows military protocols and procedures like the back of his hand these days. Repair / Tinkering: it's not enough to be able to simply fly a spacecraft on long hauls between the stars - you've got to be able to fix it if something goes wrong. Space Shot has learned this skill through trial and error, and can fix almost anything at a +1 CS in a pinch. Spatial Combat: whether fighting man to man in the void or engaged in a star ship dog fight, Space Shot knows how to brawl in vacuum. He's well-versed in zero-G and high-G combat, as well as other space-based conditions, and may attempt combat actions in space without penalty. Contacts: Space Shot is a Joe, and one of their elite Star Brigade, no less. He can rely upon the GI Joe team as a reliable contact, as he's actually helped to save the entire planet at least once! Space Shot can also consider his mysterious civilian employer a reliable contact as well. Costume: Space Shot's pressurized space suit is a primarily white affair. However, it is accented with additional blue padding on the front of the boots, blue shoulder pads, red trim along the center torso, a red belt, red pads on his gloves and elbows, and his strangely elongated white helmet. Personality: George is something of a reckless and rebellious sort, but those are exactly the traits that make him an incredibly capable pilot, as he's always ready to try things that others deem impossible. He lacks proper military discipline, but the GI Joe team is working on that. Real Name: George A. Roberts, Grade E-4 Occupation: space combat freighter pilot Legal Status: citizen of the United States with no known criminal record Marital Status: single Alias(es), if any: none Group Affiliation: GI Joe, Star Brigade (GI Joe sub-group) Height: 5' 9" Hair: black Eyes: brown Weight: 175 lbs Other Distinguishing Characteristics: George wears a thick moustache at all times. Story: It's not known exactly where George 'Space Shot' Roberts got his start, but the man has been working for a while as a freighter pilot in outer space! Was he employed by a shady group with ties to extraterrestrials, or some sort of dark corporate conspiracy? Nobody knows! Something of an independent spirit, Space Shot has done his duty as a freighter for his mysterious benefactors for years, often engaging in combat as is necessary to protect his precious cargo - and usually exasperating his superiors with his reckless attitude and behavior. In time, the man came to be known to conventional military circles, and the GI Joe team's one and only Duke thought Space Shot had 'The Right Stuff'. So, talking him into military service, Duke successfully recruited Space Shot onto the GI Joe team, though he needed some training first. While a first rate space pilot, Space Shot lacked military discipline, and every single Joe needs that to function on the team. It took a bit of time, but soon enough Space Shot was ready to serve as a GI Joe operative - and he quickly got to work doing what he does best. Space Shot makes an excellent addition to the GI Joe team's Star Brigade, who already has several space pilots among its number. The sheer, strange skill that Space Shot brings to the team as a deep space pilot is something otherwise outside their experience, however. He performed these duties well for the Joes for a time, and helped them save the entire planet from a rogue, Soviet-era weaponized asteroid program gone awry. His official duties with the GI Joe team ended in 1994 however, leaving the man without employment... for about six seconds. Space Shot presumably returned to work for whichever enigmatic party employed him as a deep space freighter operator at this point, because who would settle for conventional service when the stars beckon! Of course, the Joes weren't put down for the long haul - oh no. When the GI Joe team was reactivated, Space Shot volunteered to serve as a pilot for the team in a reserve capacity, lending his skills to the Joes as was necessary - though admittedly, Cobra was much more earth-centric in their operations upon their revival in the late 90s.
