He was shipped out to the Siberian Project after this occurred, where the Soviets began studying his powers. Their ultimate goal was to add Johnny to a Soviet paranormal hit squad, called Crasniye Solleetsi (translated as 'Red Sun'). However, his limited mental state was a deterrent to this goal, and the Siberian Project scientists took to binding Johnny in an asbestos suit to control him. They nonetheless let him loose so he could participate in Red Sun's quashing of the Afghanistani rebellion against Soviet rule. Of course, he went absolutely wild upon being set free, and Red Sun had to put him down in addition to the rebels, before dragging him back to the Project. Once he was 'home', Johnny was about to be lobotomized (he kept burning things uncontrollably), when Thomas Boyd, a recent Project capture, discovered his presence and scheduled fate. Not liking this idea, he went to save Johnny, and he took charge of his care. Boyd began to bring the child back to life, mentally speaking, trying to give him the desire to learn how to take care of himself. He did this until the Medusa Web broke Psi-Force out of the Project, and Johnny Do followed his newly found 'father' to freedom. Mind you, the paranormals had to defeat Rodstvow first. Johnny Do joined Psi-Force, the Medusa Web, Justice, and Red Sun (what was left of them, anyway) to do this, and after a grim battle, the mad Russian was finally defeated. After this mess, Psi-Force journeyed to France, and joined up with the Medusa Web on a contract basis. They continued working for the subversive organization at least throughout the War (which was the 'end' of the New Universe line of comics).
