MAX Armor, Mark 3 The Mark 3 MAX armor was built by Jenny Swensen, in conjunction with the Central Intelligence Agency's Codename: Spitfire group. While she worked with that organization, Jenny used the suit to assist the government in the prevention of MAX technology proliferation. After Jenny quit working for the government in the wake of the Pitt incident, her MAX suit was given to Jake Travest, who gleefully used it to accomplish any mission the government had for him. But then, he lacked the moral qualms that Jenny seemed to be subject to. The original Mark 3 suit was destroyed on a mission to Canada, where Jake failed to capture two paranormals the CIA wanted to get their hands on - primarily due to interference from the clandestine Medusa Web organization, who wanted those paranormals themselves. Though the suit had been properly trashed, both Codename: Spitfire and the Medusa Web itself now have the means to recreate it, should they have the desire and funding to do so. Such a recreation would likely have, at the very least, these capabilities: Ability Enhancement: its primary purpose, the MAX armor greatly expands the physical capabilities of its operator. While occupying the Mark 3 suit, its pilot benefits from the following, considerable ability score enhancements: F A S E R I P Res Pop +1 CS +2 CS +3 CS +5 CS n/a +1 CS n/a n/a n/a (Rm 30) (Ex 20) (Rm 35) (Am 50) Armor Endurance: designed to excel in combat conditions, at least more than the previous two MAX armors were, the Mark 3 has a much higher Armor Endurance rating. Of course, as is the case with previous iterations of MAX technology, it is equal to its Body Armor rating. If the armor takes damage, it must pass an Armor Endurance FEAT roll versus the intensity of the damage taken, or some of its systems may be compromised. If so, attempt another FEAT for each system affected by the specific attack to see what keeps working... and what fails. Body Armor: the highly advanced, Mark 3 MAX armor is highly resistant to damage, providing Remarkable (30) ranked protection from injury to its current occupant. In other words, MAX provides its pilot the following resistances to the various attack forms: Rm 30 / Gd 10 / Pr 4 / Sh 0 / Sh 0 Energy Absorption / Electricity: thanks to various storage batteries scattered throughout its structure, the Mark 3 MAX suit can absorb electrical attacks directed at it. It thus has the energy absorption power, where electricity is concerned, at Amazing (50) rank. Purloined energy can be used to power the Mark 3's various systems if necessary, or it can be wielded in an electrical attack through the armor's gauntlets, an assault that can have up to 50 points of absorbed energy behind it (inflicting like Stunning Energy damage). Environmental Independence: the MAX armor is equipped with at least a four hour, Poor (4) ranked air supply for the pilot, since it has been designed to work in any terrestrial environment, such as underwater, high up in the atmosphere, or possibly even underground. Gatling Cannon: mounted on the MAX armor's right shoulder, this deadly weapon can be used to inflict Excellent (20) Shooting damage per short, controlled burst, or Remarkable (30) Shooting damage in a fully automatic hail of leaden doom. Jet Thrusters: these foot-mounted rockets allow the MAX armor to fly at Remarkable (30) speeds, or 225 miles per hour. They produce fiery exhaust, and will inflict Good (10) SD Energy damage to anyone within ten feet of them when they ignite (or if the pilot 'kicks' a body with 'em). Laser Beam: placed in a housing of the MAX armor's right index finger, this cutting beam can be used to inflict Remarkable (30) Armor Piercing Energy damage per strike. This can be used against living people, but is more useful for breaking into buildings. Magnetic Grappler: this weapon, mounted in the MAX armor's left hand, can be used to seize ferrous objects from a target via magnetic attraction. Treat this as if it were a Remarkable (30) grabbing attack against applicable targets. Onboard Computer: this voice activated computer system has the ability to monitor the MAX armor's systems to ensure peak performance, and it can also automate the Sensor Suite to save the pilot lots of time looking for things manually. Piggyback Turbo Booster this optional add-on unit can be used to allow the MAX armor to fly at speeds of Mach 4 to Mach 5, which is Shift Z (500) in rank. This is quite fast, and is only used when necessary (like when chasing down airplanes). Radio Transceiver: the Mark 3 MAX suit can communicate with a control center with significant range. While its exact limits are unknown, the MAX suit can transmit and receive radio signals halfway around the globe; consider this Amazing (50) in scope. Rocket Brace: this optional add-on unit is a wrist-mounted, anti-aircraft rocket launcher, armed with six missiles carrying an Incredible (40) ranked explosive payload, which is enough to bring down most any aircraft (and if one won't do it, all six can). Sensor Suite: greatly augmenting the situational awareness of the MAX armor's pilot, this suite of sensors provides him or her numerous additional capabilities to perceive their environment. MAX's sensor suite has the following, Remarkable (30) ranked sensors: * Image Recognition Technology: incredibly powerful for their time, the computers within the Mark 3 MAX suit have the ability to identify specific targets based on their appearance alone, doing so as long as they're within one mile of the armor. * RADAR System: this unit can tie into government tracking systems to follow a target with seemingly unlimited range, or it can simply work alone, spotting significant airborne targets within a fifty mile range (Good (10)). * Thermal Scans: the Mark 3 MAX armor doesn't allow the pilot to actually see infrared heat sources, but it does have the ability to track them. It can detect infrared signatures within one mile of its location, and display them via false-color imagery. * Transparent Vision: the Mark 3 MAX armor uses an x-ray system to peer right through solid materials, showing what lies beyond as a computerized, false-color image. Using the MAX suit's transparent vision, its pilot may peer through up to thirty yards of opaque matter. * Voice Print Identification: the MAX armor can track a target by his or her voice print, doing so within an approximate ten mile range (it has tracked a single target through the city of Vancouver). This system works with Shift X (150) effectiveness. Sonic Couplings: these weapons, mounted in the MAX armor's left hand, produce a frequency and amplitude of sound waves that are carefully combined to induce unconsciousness. Treat this as a Remarkable (30) Stunning attack.
