Captain Wings F A S E R I P Res Pop Gd 10 Gd 10 Gd 10 Ex 20 Gd 10 Ty 6 Gd 10 Gd 10 Ty +5 Health: 50 Karma: 26 Origin: Captain Wings was originally a normal human, a British man with no super-human powers or aptitudes of any variety. For a time he did wield a costume that allowed him to soar like an eagle and glide along the winds, but he no longer has this gear. Known Powers: (none) Limitations / Enhancements: (none) Equipment: Artificial Wings: Roger's artificial wing harness grants him the most sought after ability in the history of mankind: flight. While not as advanced as, say, the Red Raven suit, this wing harness nonetheless grants Roger Typical (6) flight, allowing him to swoop about at around ninety miles per hour. He can carry a Good (10) amount of weight while flying, and has this one 'power stunt' so far: * Wing Buffet: by rapidly flapping his wings at a body from above, Roger can buffet them with Remarkable (30) strength winds, typically capable of inflicting like Force damage or simply knocking them to the ground - and keeping them there (his choice). Furthermore, he can use these artificial winds to douse flames with Remarkable (30) ability. Goggles: in addition to keeping the wind from adversely affecting his vision while flying about, these lenses also give Roger Typical (6) protection from glares and blinding attacks. These flight goggles are of Good (10) material strength (as is all of Roger's gear), and can thus take a pounding (they're not likely to break, should Roger find himself in a fist-fight). Quirks: (none) Talents: Aerial Combat: Roger is well-trained (if self-trained) in the fine art of duking it out in the air, in his wing harness or in an airplane. He makes all attack and defense maneuvers while airborne at +1 CS to the applicable ability score (usually Fighting or Agility). Leadership: Roger is also a fine motivator of men, and as such, can easily direct them into combat (or on other missions). Furthermore, if Roger is recognized as a team leader, and is a member of a karma pool, said pool gains one hundred free points as long as he is a part of it. Martial Arts type E: in addition to his ability to fight competently in aerial battles, Roger can strike incredibly fast. As such, he always adds 1 to any initiative roll made while in a fight when unarmed, unless such a roll is a 1 to begin with, of course. Piloting: though he can soar in his wing harness pretty much indefinitely, Roger has the ability to fly just about any aircraft existing in the 1940s. As such, he adds a +1 CS to all FEAT rolls made concerning the operation of such an aircraft. Contacts: Captain Wings was the field leader the Crusaders, and as such he can rely upon those would-be heroes for assistance should he but ask - the Captain got on pretty well with his fellows despite the fraudulent nature of the team that they had participated in making. Costume: While fighting evil, Roger wears a brown skin tight shirt with a stylized white 'w' on the chest, brown skin tight trousers with white stripes down the sides, an orange belt, orange boots, orange gloves, a brown mask with a blue visor on the front, and of course his big golden wings. Personality: Roger feels a deep need to do the Right Thing, which is how he was such easy prey for the likes of Alfie; he wanted to help his country so bad, and yet was unable to do so in a conventional manner. A dedicated patriot, he'll always find a way to fight for the Kingdom! Real Name: Roger Dicken Occupation: adventurer Legal Status: citizen of the United Kingdom with no known criminal record Marital Status: unrevealed Alias(es), if any: none Group Affiliation: former member of the Crusaders Height: unrevealed Hair: unrevealed Eyes: unrevealed Weight: unrevealed Other Distinguishing Characteristics: none. Story: Little has been revealed regarding the origins of Captain Wings, other than the fact that he had a heart murmur, and as a result was deemed unfit for military service. Having a deep need to help defend his country, he was easy pickings for a turncoat named Alfie. This Nazi spy had concocted a bizarre plot to assassinate the King of England, and needed the use of several heroes with which to distract the Invaders. To this end, he used equipment to give four would-be patriotic heroes super-powers, and recruited two others to his cause. These six compatriots would quickly grow to be known as the Crusaders, and made their public debut whilst the Invaders were out of Britain for a time. Either together or in small groups, they handled all kinds of crises - which the Invaders witnessed. One of the Crusaders decided he didn't trust Alfie though. Figuring out that Alfie was indeed a Nazi sympathizer, Dyna-Mite was knocked for a loop by the villain, though he managed to warn the Invaders of the fiend's plot... just in the nick of time. Once those heroes convinced the Crusaders that they were acting as the patsies of a Nazi jerk, they all abandoned the special equipment Alfie used to empower them in the first place. What Roger will do without his special flight harness is unknown.
