** Amongst humans, at least. Rm +30 to fellow Autobots, Rm -30 regarding Decepticons.
Origin:
Camshaft is a Transformer, one of the most infamous silicon-based life forms native to the planet Cybertron. His origins on that world have blessed Camshaft with a considerable roster of inherent abilities that would seem, at least to ordinary humans, fantastic in nature!
Known Powers:
Cybertronian Physique: like most of his fellow Transformers, Camshaft came into being on the world of Cybertron! As does everyone else from this strange planet, Camshaft benefits from a number of special characteristics related to his electromechanical body, including:
* Body Armor: one of the reasons Camshaft was chosen to serve as a road warrior is his exceptional durability. He possesses Remarakble (30) protection from incoming assault, a powerful form of armor and structural support that defends Camshaft as follows:
Rm 30 / Gd 10 / Pr 4 / Sh 0 / Sh 0
* Growth / Shrinking: size is rarely a set feature amonst the Transformers, whether considering the species as a whole or even single Cybertronians. For example, Camshaft stands at fifteen feet tall in his humanoid configuration, giving him inherent, Typical (6) ranked growth.
His stature grants Camshaft a +1 size factor. This provides him a +1 CS damage bonus when assaulting human-sized foes, while suffering a -1 CS penalty to hit them in the first place. Conversely, human-sized foes assaulting him do so under the reverse of those modifiers.
While this assumes a static volume, many Transformers have demonstated that their size can be highly variable. This reflexive, dynamic size manipulation is an emergent property of Transformers overall, though such mass displacement must surely consume vast amounts of power.
These dynamic volume shifts are most often used when transforming, and enable Transformers to interact with beings of differing sizes without further modifications being required of them. This ultimately allows Transformers to wield or ride within their fellows seamlessly.
* Microscopic / Telescopic Vision: supplementing their size manipulation, Transformers possess much sharper visual acuity. These Feeble (2) ranked powers allow Camshaft to perceive objects as far as a mile distant, and he can easily read material preserved on microfiche.
* Radio Transceiver: often operating in the vastness of open space, Transformers cannot solely rely upon sound or line of sight to communicate. They thus make use of an Excellent (20) ranked signal transceiver, allowing radio contact within 100 miles of others.
* Resistance / Invulnerability to Disease and Poison: an inorganic being, Camshaft is wholly immune to carbon-based diseases and poisons. While not completely invulnerable to more chemically creative threats of this sort, Camshaft resists them with Unearthly (100) strength.
Headlights: Camshaft's Mazda RX-7 Series 2 mode is equipped with fully functional headlights, which allow him to project Excellent (20) illumination into the area directly before him. If necessary, he can utilize these lamps in any of his two and a half modes.
Pile Drivers: deployed from his fenders in offense mode or simply as his arms in his humanoid shape, Camshaft can punch much, much harder than his Strength would indicate. These weapons allow Camshaft to strike with either arm to inflict Incredible (40) Blunt Attack damage.
Plasma Projector: deployed from his trunk in offense mode or from his back in his humanoid configuration, Camshaft fires this inherent weapon with glee. It projects a stream of plasma that inflicts Remarkable (30) Armor Piercing SD Energy damage to targets within two miles.
Shape Change: curiously, Camshaft has two and a half distinct forms. He can transform between his Mazda RX-7 Series 2 configuration, his humanoid mode, and an offensive hybrid of the other two at will. When in a vehicular shape, Camshaft has these characteristics:
C Rm 30 |
S Un 100 |
B Am 50 |
P Rm 30 |
Limitations / Enhancements:
Control Loss: attempting to transform while moving is an action fraught with peril for Camshaft, as he can't control his movement in mid-change. Attempting to do so reduces his Agility / Control to Shift 0 for the duration of the current turn.
Equipment:
Neutron Blaster: in addition to his inherent weaponry, Camshaft carries a neutron blaster in the field. This staggeringly lethal weapon can fire a massive burst of high-energy neutrons at an opponent, inflicting Excellent (20) 2x SD AP Energy damage with each deadly blast.
Quirks:
Impulsiveness: despite his old age, Camshaft has rarely had to face the consequences of his actions. As such, he not only eschews planning, but actually enjoys diving headlong into everything, and restraining himself requires he pass a Psyche ACTION with a -2 CS penalty.
Talents:
Advanced Guns: having built-in beam weaponry and carrying even more for good measure, Camshaft is well-versed in the usage of advanced, energy-based devices. Whether firing lasers, particle beams, blasters, mass drivers, or even plasma casters, Camshaft may do so at a +1 CS.
Multiple Attacks: maximizing the effectiveness of his pile drivers, Camshaft is trained and equipped to punch with maximum accuracy and velocity. As such, he may attempt multiple attack ACTIONs at a +1 CS, potentially allowing him up to three punch attacks per turn.
Contacts:
While they often shy away from his indifferent brutality, the Autobots know they can count on Camshaft to help them win a scrap. As such, he can consider that faction of Cybertronians a reliable contact, supporting him in his personal effort to squash the Decepticons forever.
Likeness:
In his vehicle mode, Camshaft perfectly resembles a silver Mazda RX-7 Series 2 with blue trim and tinted windows, while his humanoid configuration looks like a robot built from the parts of such. His offensive mode is a bizarre mix of the two, an armed car with articulated arms.
Personality:
Camshaft effortlessly dominates the road before him, because he knows nothing humanity has to offer can possibly threaten him on the job. Furthermore, his staggering durability and overwhelming offensive ability ensures that few Transformers can threaten him there, as well.
His arrogant recklessness and (admittedly earned) overconfidence are sources of concern for his fellow Autobots, including Optimus Prime himself. However, Prime knows to point the loaded gun that is Camshaft in the right direction, and deftly puts him where he is needed most.
Most often, this is the middle of a Decepticon band, base, or mission squad that needs to be put down. And Camshaft, single-minded brutality dispenser that he is, loves nothing more than to reduce that Decepticon band, base, or mission squad to rubble.
Real Name: Camshaft
Occupation: road warrior
Legal Status: citizen of Cybertron with no known criminal record
Marital Status: inapplicable
Alias(es), if any: none
Group Affiliation: Autobots
Height: 15'
Hair: inapplicable
Eyes: blue
Weight: several tons
Other Distinguishing Characteristics: in vehicle mode, Camshaft perfectly resembles a silver Mazda RX-7 Series 2 with blue trim and tinted windows. As a humanoid, Camshaft looks like a robotic being built from the majority of a silver Mazda's carcass.
In his offensive mode, Camshaft looks like a weird hybrid of the two, being an automobile with a trunk-mounted plasma projector and arms extending out of his fenders. It's not good for high speed maneuvering, but is perfect for vehicular combat.
Design Notes:
I mainly stuck with the plan from Transcribing Transformers when crafting my description of Camshaft here. I did modify his Speed in vehicle mode to at least match up with a 'real' Mazda RX-7, though its precise speed took a few years to get up to a full Unearthly (100) rating.
