Origin:

A Transformer, Smokescreen is a metamorphic, silicon-based life form hailing from the planet Cybertron, a world of unknown and variable distance from our own. He has a large array of special abilities related to his inorganic, electromechanical existence.

Known Powers:

Cybertronian Physique: Smokescreen is one of innumerable mechanoid life forms hailing from the planet Cybertron. Like most of his fellows, Smokescreen is possessed of a variety of special powers related to his alien physiology, including the following:

* Body Armor: made (or formed) from primarily metallic materials, Smokescreen is considerably durable. His sturdy, inorganic composition affords Smokescreen Good (10) protection from attack, enough to help him ignore most human assaults. His armor functions as follows:

Gd 10 / Pr 4 / Sh 0 / Sh 0 / Sh 0

* Growth / Shrinking: Cybertronians come in all manner of sizes, few of which align with the human norm. Smokescreen, for instance, generally stands at eighteen feet tall in his humanoid mode, which grants him this power at Typical (6) rank as a general matter of course.

As such, this Autobot gunner possesses a +1 size factor. Smokescreen thus suffers a -1 CS when targeting human-sized foes, but gains a +1 CS on any damage he inflicts against them. Conversely, human-sized foes assaulting him do so under the reverse of those modifiers.

While this assumes a static volume, many Transformers have demonstated that their size can be highly variable. This reflexive, dynamic size manipulation is an emergent property of Transformers overall, though such mass displacement must surely consume vast amounts of power.

These dynamic volume shifts are most often used when transforming, and enable Transformers to interact with beings of differing sizes without further modifications being required of them. This ultimately allows Transformers to wield or ride within their fellows seamlessly.

* Microscopic / Telescopic Vision: all Transformers have the ability to alter their visual sensitivity where distance is concerned. Functioning at Feeble (2) rank, these powers let Smokescreen see objects up to a mile distant with ease, as well as allowing him to read items on microfiche.

* Radio Transceiver: as are most Transformers, Smokescreen is equipped with an audio / video transmission system. This communications rig allows him instant contact with any other Cybertronian within a wide radius of his person, having Excellent (20) range (100 miles).

* Resistance / Invulnerability to Disease and Poison: as an inorganic life form, Smokescreen possesses complete immunity to poisons and organic diseases. He also possesses Unearthly (100) resistance to more chemically creative forms of disease.

Headlights: to better emulate earthen vehicles (and since they come in handy in the dark), Smokescreen is equipped with a set of convenient headlights. These twin lamps can be used to generate Excellent (20) intensity illumination, making driving at night no problem.

Missile Launchers: mounted on his shoulders, Smokescreen can fire devastatingly effective projectiles. They explode to emit thousands of metal shards which emit noise across the electromagnetic spectrum, jamming various guidance systems. They function as follows:

C S B Function
Mn 75 Sh Y Ex 20 Monstrous (75) electromechanical sensory disruption

Shape Change: possibly the power he is most famous for, Smokescreen has the ability to transform! He can switch between his humanoid and his Datsun 280ZX Turbo forms at will. While in the latter configuration, he possesses these vehicular characteristics:

C S B P
Mn 75 Un 100 Rm 30 Gd 10

Smokescreen: his namesake, Smokescreen can emit an inky cloud of smoke in his Datsun mode, filling the area behind him. This slightly magnetic gas tends to cling to Transformers, and can obscure the sight of anyone inundated by them with Monstrous (75) capability.

Limitations / Enhancements:

(none)

Equipment:

Disruptor Rifle: while it doesn't inflict direct damage, this item fires a powerful beam of electromagnetic energy that disrupts the functioning of electronic systems and beings. It works with Monstrous (75) ability, is resisted by one's Endurance, and lasts for 1d10 turns.

Quirks:

(none)

Talents:

Manipulation: his stock in trade, Smokescreen excels in convincing others of things he wants them to believe. He can add a +1 CS to Psyche ACTIONs made when either attempting to sway others to his way of thinking, or when trying to ingratiate himself with them.

Contacts:

Smokescreen is an Autobot! The team generally views Smokescreen favorably, due in no small part to him constantly working his teammates to do so, and would readily assist him should he find himself in need of assistance - a need which his shady behavior regularly prompts.

Likeness:

In his vehicular configuration, Smokescreen resembles a two-tone, red and blue color Datsun 280ZX Turbo, one with white trim in places. After he transforms into his humanoid form, Smokescreen resembles a mighty robot warrior assembled from the parts of a red, white, and blue Datsun.

Personality:

Smokescreen's persona and motives are wreathed in as much obfuscation as the Decepticons he leaves in his wake. Everything he says and does has more than one purpose, the Autobot inerringly pushing some angle - even when it appears he's just goofing off or otherwise having fun.

This is because Smokescreen is a diversionary tactician for the Autobot cause. He is constantly practicing his trade, whether interacting with his fellows or trying to confound enemy spies, because he feels he needs to be at his absolute best to protect his friends and family.

While his fellows love Smokescreen's jokes and find him to be charming enough, he's typically reporting on them to Optimus Prime, helping his leader to gauge the morale of his subordinates. And when he thinks he's being observed by Decepticons, Smokescreen cheerfully spins tall tales.

This is not to say that Smokescreen always behaves in a chivalrous manner. He dips his toes in the underworld, after all, and is subject to many of the vices that includes. In particular, he's quite the gambler, though when it comes down to it, he's not very good at it.

Design Notes:

I tried to stick to the standard process delineated in Transcribing Transformers when constructing my descriptions of Smokescreen. To the best of my knowledge, Smokescreen is right on the money, assuming I didn't incorrectly translate his tech specs or something.
