the Misdirector Strength Agility Intellect Willpower 6d 4c 3c 6c Hand Size: 4 (25) Edge: 2 Origin: Errando Vasquez was originally a normal human, albeit one heavily trained by the United States Army. Later in life he mastered a natural psionic, one which allows him to make child's play of distance; in other words, he's a natural teleporter! Powers: Natural Psionics (Psimotive Powers): Teleportation (a) (i): Errando's one super-human ability, this power allows him to defy the laws of space and time at his leisure. Functioning at intensity 7, this power gives Errando a 100 mile transport range, allowing him to reach anywhere on the planet in mere minutes. * Bilocation (i): one power stunt Errando has demonstrated so far is the ability to literally appear in two places at once. This sort of 'half-teleport' splits his mass (and his concentration) between two points in space, which allows for one heck of an alibi generator. Hindrances / Augmentations: (none) Equipment: Blackberry ™ Torch: Errando likes to keep in touch with his clients, and he also likes having most of his 'field' data at his fingertips while on the job (not to mention the Internets.) As such, he carries this device on his person at all times. The Torch has intensity 2 communications range, allowing it to link up with the Cellular network easily enough, though almost any EM shielding or RF jamming can block its use. It can store several GB of music, data and whatever else Errando needs, and can take pictures! Boker Beil ™ Axe (s): some people like to carry knives, Errando prefers an axe. His choice blade is a Boker Beil axe, which he can use to inflict his Strength +2 in melee, or easily throw (thanks to its design) to inflict like damage in a pinch. Bullet-resistant Clothing (s): Errando has invested some of his ill-gotten gains into personal protection. He has purchased a custom-made suit from Miguel Caballero, which provides him +4 resistance to Shooting-type damage (enough to cover most small-arms fire.) Communication Earpieces (i): the D.A.A. often makes use of encrypted wireless transceivers to synchronize operative activity in the field. D.A.A. earpiece communicators (with sub-vocalization options) have intensity 2 range - 2.5 miles - and have encryption of complexity 10 wired in. Heckler and Koch ™ USPs (a): Errando carries two of these hand cannons on hip holsters while 'on the job'. They can be fired to inflict his Agility +4 damage in a single shot, raised to +5 in a semi-auto burst (which consumes 1/3 of its twelve round magazines.) These guns are naturally equipped with a combination gun light / laser sight package, which provides him intensity 5 illumination within near missile distance (+1 if both lights are used), and offer a +1 to hit thanks to their pinpoint laser sights. Skills: Boxing (s): having seen lots of combat, Errando can definitely hold his own in a scrap - even without his hand cannons. He may divide his pre-card play action score between two unarmed melee attacks, the last of which occurs as a contingent action. Detective / Espionage (i): Errando has sort of fallen into work as an information broker when he's not busy robbing criminals of their hard 'earned' cash. He should receive a reduced difficulty on efforts to uncover information or clues of any stripe, no matter how well hidden. Languages / English, Farsi and Spanish (i): Errando grew up in a bilingual home, which gave him several advantages in his early career. Further training by the military has given Errando the ability to speak in Farsi as well. Marksmanship (a): a former special ops man, Errando knows his way around guns - hence his current choice in firearms. He can fire any standard, semi-automatic, or fully automatic rifle or pistol at one difficulty level lower than is usually required. Military / United States (w): a former member of the United States Army, Errando has been well trained in the fine art of killing people - not that he necessarily wants to. He can easily function in a martial environment, and knows the S.O.P. like the back of his hand. Trance (w): mastered during his time wandering the Far East looking for Answers, Errando can easily slip into a deep, meditative trance when necessary. This allows his bodily functions to slow to the point that he appears to be dead to most onlookers. Two Guns (a): the dangerous thing about Errando's fighting style is that he can wield two guns at once effectively, almost cinema-style. He may either attempt two gun attacks in an exchange (the second as a contingent action), or burst for +1 damage on a singular assault. Contacts: Errando has multiple, as of yet undesignated military contacts available to him, as well as several in criminal circles. The former comes from his time spent in the Army, and the latter thanks to his time as a 'freelance wealth redistributor'. Of course, the Direct Action Americans also count as a reliable contact to Errando, as they value his investigative and fighting skills, not to mention his 'special' ability to get in and out of trouble. Calling: Peace of Mind: Errando Vasquez ultimately does what he does to feel at peace with himself. He usually balances out his misdeeds with acts of charity, and does what he does in the first place to make a difference with his rather lethal skills. Costume: Errando usually wears his bullet-resistant black business suit into action at all times, though it looks a bit 'off' when he's carrying his hand cannons on dual hip holsters; his suit jacket almost, but not quite, covers them up. He also wears polished black leather shoes, and chromed sunglasses. Upon starting to work for the Direct Action Americans, Errando began to wear a flag-inspired belt buckle, but otherwise kept the same look. Personality: Errando is an amicable sort, even if he can't really seem to keep his opinions to himself. He tries to do right by others, but has a taste for the finer things in life. He's definitely not a fan of hurting others - even criminals - but will if he has to. Real Name: Errando Vasquez, Grade E-5 Occupation: freelance troubleshooter, former Army special operations Legal Status: citizen of the United States with no criminal record (at the moment) Marital Status: divorced Alias(es), if any: none Group Affiliation: the Direct Action Americans Height: 5' 11" Hair: black Eyes: brown Weight: 205 lbs. Other Distinguishing Characteristics: none Story: Errando Vasquez got his start in the Army, doing a dime for Uncle Sam to ensure a reasonable pension at the very least. He's seen action in numerous hot spots throughout Asia, depending on where the conflict is, which is where he developed his inability to mince words. He figured life was too short to dilly-dally and avoid saying what you really mean, after all, once his life was put in direct peril on several occasions. Of course this taxed his relationship with his wife some, so the man ultimately came back to the States to receive divorce papers. More than a little annoyed with this, Errando left the country again, this time under his own power. He eventually made his way back to Asia, though this time he was aiming for Tibet. The idea was to find one of those nifty back-water temples you hear about on a search for Meaning. He never made it there though, for Errando had an accident while hiking up a rather steep and icy mountain. While slowly slipping from a rock that was the only thing keeping him from a 2,500 foot fall, Errando wished more than anything else to get back up onto the the trail. And suddenly, he was there. Thinking he'd imagined the whole thing, Errando managed to duplicate his amazing feat against space-time when he was trapped in a terrible storm just days later; wanting more than anything else to be back where he'd started his hike several weeks ago, he made the trip instantly. Realizing something was Going On, Errando started experimenting, and discovered that not only was he not crazy, but he could seemingly bend distance to his will! He immediately made his way back to America and set himself up as a private eye of sorts, thinking to help people. Errando wasn't about to broadcast what he could really do to the world, but he sure wasn't going to sit on this amazing skill of his either. He quickly became quite successful at his work, though sometimes Errando has skirted the line between 'good guy' and 'bad guy'. This because while he sometimes works for free, Errando has also taken to 'confiscating' whatever money and such criminals have on their person, using it to either help others or to treat himself to the finer things in life now and then. But overall the plan was to do good for those who are otherwise law abiding citizens. In time, word of Errando and his peculiarities eventually made its way through various circles, and he was eventually approached by several different secretive groups. Some of these meetings did not go too well, either - mostly because Errando is his own man. The Knights of the Moral Majority thought a fine, upstanding Army veteran like him belonged in their ranks... regardless of what he himself wished. And the Anthropy Society also gave him a hassle, for reasons they never revealed - but possibly due to one of his own investigations. In time however, Errando grew tired of these constant annoyances, and almost took out his ire on a Direct Action American recruiter until he realized the woman's 'sales pitch' actually struck a chord within him. Thus, he signed up with that group on a part-time basis. The Direct Action Americans pay Errando well for his time and talents, and essentially hire him to do the same work he would be doing on his own anyway. Thus, he considers it subcontracting work, which tends to save him the trouble of finding clients when the bills are due...!
