the Terror Drome
The product of one of Cobra's most insidious schemes, the Terror Dromes are prefabricated facilities that Cobra operatives can rapidly assemble just about anywhere, as long as they can safely ship the individual components there from their factory on Cobra Island first.
These dangerous facilities can project Cobra's power on a global scale, as they can easily be used to control a considerable amount of ground and airspace around them. But while this alone makes them worthwhile, the truth is that each Terror Drome has a secret weapon.
The core of the Terror Dromes is a silo that Firebats can use to both take off and land, which lets Cobra field a small air force without bothering with a runway! In addition to its considerable directed-energy armaments, this makes each Terror Drome singularly dangerous.
Furthermore, the Terror Dromes have a rage-inducing, ultra-low frequency radio transmitter situated inside, which acts to disrupt the rationality of those near them... and thus makes them susceptible to Cobra overthrow. Or, at the very least, further Cobra arms sales!
Cobra's Terror Dromes possess these known features:
Armory: while most Cobras retain their sidearms for constant protection, from enemies both within and without the organization, they tend to leave their heavier stuff idle when not in use. Thus, the Terror Drome features a large armory on its ground floor.
Barracks / Cold Storage: Terror Dromes can operate for short periods of time without support. As such, there's enough room within each facility to bed down its current operatives, and about a week or so worth of rations, depending on how many Cobras are eating them down.
Blast Doors: each of the six chambers in the Terror Drome's ground floor feature large blast doors that open at their occupants' discretion. Whether they roll to the side or hydraulically open outward, each of these doors feature a material strength of Incredible (40).
Blast Shields: in addition to concealing the Firebat within its launch silo, these blast shields also protect the Terror Drome's occupants from the fire, heat, and raw force of Firebat launches and landings. These doors/shields provide this protection with Incredible (40) ability.
Bulkheads: the interior of the Terror Drome is buttressed by five bulkheads, which together serve to separate its six ground floor facilities. Made from Incredible (40) m.s. materials, they can be sealed to contain explosions or other damage to a single room.
Command Stations: ringing the upper floor of the Terror Drome are numerous command stations, each of which is used to control aspects of the facility's flight control, anti-aircraft, or communications functions, as the current situation on the ground demands.
Communications Array: to better coordinate Cobra forces, each Terror Drome is equipped with a powerful radio transceiver. It can send and receive signals with Remarkable (30) ability, having an optimal reach of five hundred miles, curvature of the earth notwithstanding.
Emotion Control / Anger: the Terror Drome's secret weapon, stolen from experimental Soviet research, is an ultra-low frequency radio transmitter, whose broadcasts instill rage, anger, and hatred into unwitting targets within Far distance, with Typical (6) ability.
Fuel Depot: one of the six ground-level chambers in the Terror Drome is a large fuel depot. This room has the ability to store enough liquid fuel to operate the Terror Drome's generators, keep a Firebat flying, and supply a fleet of ground-based support vehiles.
Firebat Silo: the feature the rest of the Terror Drome is built around, these silos allow a Firebat to take off and land vertically from the facility. Capable of projecting air power without a runway, this greatly expands Cobra's reach anywhere a Terror Drome is built.
Garage: one of the six ground-level chambers in the Terror Drome is a full-service garage, with which Cobra operatives can service a variety of vehicles. While some of Cobra's larger hardware simply cannot fit within, the Terror Drome's garage is chock full of parts and tools.
Ground Lasers: mounted in two of the blast doors on the Terror Drome's ground level chambers, generally opposite its White Heat anti-aircraft laser cannons, are twinned laser cannons that inflict Excellent (20) Armor Piercing Energy damage with each deadly burst.
Holding Facilities: the better to contain nosey locals or would-be infiltrators, the Terror Drome features a holding cell on its ground floor. It provides confinement with Incredible (40) m.s. walls and bars, and can jam outgoing radio signals with like capability.
Ramparts: providing cover to its top floor occupants against ground fire, these Heavy-Armor ramparts allow the Terror Drome's staff to work with relative impunity - unless assaulted by aircraft, that is. These implements provide Incredible (40) cover against outside assault.
White Heat Laser Cannons: these two cannons, positioned ninety degrees apart from each other, both consist of twinned anti-aircraft laser emitters. Incredibly deadly, each can inflict Remarkable (30) Armor Piercing Energy damage with every blast of photons.
