the GI Joe Motorized Micro-accessories

The GI Joe team began to make use of several small, motorized miniature accessories in 1987, equipment which can be hauled into place and put to use by any Joe on the go. While they are versatile, they come in pieces; in other words, 'some assembly required'.

1987 Micro-Accessories

Anti-aircraft Gun:

This small, motorized cannon can either be strapped onto the back of a Joe like a backpack, or instead be set up on secure ground thanks to its four support legs. It is built with a recoilless design, so that it can fire in either mode without significant kickback.

The anti-aircraft gun can be fired to inflict rank value 10 Piercing damage when firing a single shot, rank value 20 Piercing damage when fired semi-auto, and rank value 30 Piercing damage when fired fully automatic. It offers no inherent bonus to hit its targets.

Helicopter:

This thing consists of a miniature rotor powered by a large backpack unit. A Joe can strap it on, fire it up, and provide instant air support (or escape an untenable situation) with just a few turns of preparation. It has these vehicular characteristics:

Handling
RV 6
Velocity
RV 4
Durability
RV 10
Protection
RV 0

Radar Station:

This man-portable radar station can be set up in a stationary position, thanks to its four support legs, or carried by a Joe on the go as a backpack. When carried by a Joe, it can be utilized by another Joe walking behind him if necessary.

This station blankets an area with rank value 20 radar pulses, which it can use to track targets on the surface or in the air at like value. The data it collects is displayed on a small, oscilloscope-type display on the back of the unit for all to see.

Rope Walker:

This curious vehicle is strapped onto a Joe like a backpack when not in use. When deployed, it can be used to 'walk' its way up or down any rope bridge, carrying a Joe and his gear without relying on their strength alone to cross said rope. It has these characteristics:

Handling
RV 2
Velocity
RV 2
Durability
RV 10
Protection
RV 0

ATV:

This fun ride is a three-wheeled, all-terrain vehicle. Of course, the idea isn't just to give the Joes a good time while on the job - this vehicle is intended to move them a bit faster through rough terrain than they can manage barefoot.

The GI Joe ATV can be carried strapped onto a Joe's back when not in use (though riding it is more fun by far), and it has these vehicular capabilities:

Handling
RV 6
Velocity
RV 10
Durability
RV 10
Protection
RV 0

Double Machine Gun:

This small, twinned cannon can be strapped onto the back of a Joe like a backpack for transport, and can easily be set up on secure ground thanks to its support bar. It is built with a recoilless design, so that it can fire full-bore without significant kickback.

The twin guns on the double machine gun can be fired to inflict rank value 10 Piercing damage when firing a single shot, rank value 20 Piercing damage when fired semi-auto, and rank value 30 Piercing damage when fired fully automatic. It offers no inherent bonus to hit its targets.

Mine Sweeper:

The mine sweeper is a small, remote controlled robot that the GI Joe team can use to seek out mines - it beats putting a live human at risk, especially when an EOD operative is unavailable. It can detect mines with rank value 20 ability, and has these vehicular characteristics:

Handling
RV 4
Velocity
RV 2
Durability
RV 30
Protection
RV 0

Mortar Launcher:

This large device can be strapped onto a Joe and carried about if already assembled, but definitely cannot be fired until it is installed on a secure ground location. It is stabilized thanks to two thick support legs, which allow the mortar launcher to fire with incredible accuracy.

It can be loaded with shells that will inflict rank value 40 Slashing (fragmentary) damage to everything within their target sector. It has a significant range as well; the mortar launcher can hit a target within 2 miles (88 sectors) of its position.

Scuba Pack:

The scuba pack is a small, lightweight vehicle that can carry a Joe under the waves, at speeds much faster than mere swimming. To operate the scuba pack, a Joe merely straps it on and steers with his body - as well as the included flippers. It has these characteristics:

Handling
RV 4
Velocity
RV 6
Durability
RV 10
Protection
RV 0

Tank Car:

No, really. The tank car is neither a tank nor a car, but is a small, four-wheeled vehicle about the size of a go kart. It has a machine gun mounted on the front, which can be fired to inflict rank value 10 Piercing damage in a short burst, raised by +1 RS when fired full auto.

The tank car has these vehicular properties:

Handling
RV 4
Velocity
RV 10
Durability
RV 10
Protection
RV 0
