Like the vast majority of his GI Joe teammates, Thunderwing is but a normal human, lacking a truly exceptional origin. He has had no occult training, genetic mutations, encounters with beings from Beyond, or even freak happenstance that may have given him ascendant abilities.
Limitations / Enhancements:
Communications Headset: since he tends to ride in the MOBAT's cupola while commanding the vehicle, Thunderwing wears a visored headset while doing so. This thing has a short (Feeble (2)) range communications transceiver, allowing him to talk to whoever's inside the tank.
Helmet: because explosions are a regular occupational hazard for Thunderwing, he usually wears this headgear while on the job. It provides his cranium Good (10) protection against physical assault, and serves as a good place to anchor his communications headset to.
Machine Gun: if he must fight while outside the MOBAT, Thunderwing can discharge a single round with this weapon to inflict Typical (6) Shooting damage, several rounds to inflict Good (10) Shooting damage, or fire it continuously to inflict Excellent (20) Shooting damage.
MOBAT, Mark 2: Thunderwing is usually seen in command of this mechanical beastie, the Motorized Offensive Battle Attack Tank, while in action with GI Joe. This tank is a modernized version of the classic GI Joe MOBAT, and is detailed fully in its own vehicular description.
Sidearm: a sort of secondary backup weapon, should his other gear be unavailable, this vest-holstered piece is Thunderwing's last resort in a pinch. It inflicts Typical (6) Shooting damage when discharging a single round, or Good (10) Shooting damage when firing several.
Driving: Thunderwing is familiar with the operation of ground-based vehicles. He worked in construction before enlisting, and his secondary military specialty is 'heavy equipment operator'. Thunderwing may add a +1 CS to any Control FEAT he attempts behind the wheel.
Guns: a large portion of Thunderwing's Army basic training involved him learning how to fire a gun effectively. When firing a standard, semi-automatic, or fully automatic rifle or pistol, Thunderwing may do so as though his Agility score was +1 CS in rank.
Marksman: supplementing his firearms training, Thunderwing has also been well educated in the use of larger hardware. Whether firing a mortar, a shoulder-mounted anti-tank rocket, or even the MOBAT's cannon, Thunderwing does so as though his Agility was +1 CS in rank.
Martial Arts type B: Thunderwing's extensive self-defense training has only enhanced the head-busting skills he acquired during his time as a Las Vegas night club bouncer. As such, the man can attempt any unarmed melee attack as though his Fighting score was +1 CS in rank.
Military / United States: serving as a handy origin for his skills, this talent represents the ability granted by Thunderwing's Army training. It imparts unto him an instinctual understanding of military protocols and procedures, and provides several additional military contacts.
Repair / Tinkering: a part of Thunderwing's advanced Army training involved learning how to fix most mechanical weaponry, along with general maintenance skills. He should receive a +1 CS on any FEAT required when attempting to repair or modify an existing mechanical device.
As a member of GI Joe, Thunderwing can naturally rely upon his fellows in that military organization for assistance should he need it, since the only time he's likely to get into trouble he can't handle is while on a mission for that group. Besides, the Joes always look after their own!
A tribute to fallen Joe Thunder, Thunderwing's field uniform is comprised of Army green trousers, an Army green, long-sleeved shirt, an Army green helmet, a gray bullet-proof vest with gun holster mounted on top, a black leather belt, and black leather boots and gloves.
A good phrase to describe Thunderwing is 'tough as nails'. He enjoys working with big machinery, usually smashing things in the process. He enjoys a good challenge as much as the next Joe, even if this involves him getting shot at - a whole lot - in the perpetration of a mission.

Thunderwing is quite the tough guy. Before joining the Army, he was the head bouncer at a Las Vegas night club. Before that, he worked in construction, getting his jollies by tearing down old casinos with huge construction gear. Looking for more in life, however, he enlisted.
The recruiter offered Thunderwing all the excitement he could handle, and he wasn't lying. Winding up in one of the Army's main tank divisions after all the requisite training, Thunderwing repeatedly demonstrated that he definitely had what it took, and was scooped up by GI Joe.
Looking through their vast arsenal of tanks and artillery, Thunderwing decided he just wanted the basics, and picked an old MOBAT as his weapon of choice. Once pulled out of mothballs and upgraded to modern specifications, his custom ride was ready to crush some Cobras!
As you can imagine, this means Thunderwing isn't too keen on losing a MOBAT on a mission, for that means he's got to rebuild his ride from scratch. This may be why he's so merciless in the field, for Cobra never seems to get near the guy, though not for lack of trying.
When working in his MOBAT, Thunderwing is usually graced with the company of Heavy Duty, his one-man support crew. Of course, you may wonder why Thunderwing only has a crew of one to help him on the job. If so, you don't really know Heavy Duty all that well.
The two have similar hobbies after all, and enjoy rendering unnecessarily expensive Cobra hardware into twisted, smoking metal!
