Origin:
Merzah is telepathic in nature, though otherwise a normal human. While it was previously unknown whether his psionics were natural or trained in nature, his final appearance seems to indicate that some of his powers were learned through - or after - intense metaphysical meditation.
Known Powers:
Natural Psionics (Psipathic Powers):
Telepathy (a): his chief power, this art allows Merzah to communicate with others on a direct, mind-to-mind basis. By itself, it doesn't allow for any other snazzy effects, such as mental probes or psionic invisibility, but it is nonetheless useful in a pinch, operating at Incredible (40) ability.
Postcognition (t): Merzah can peer into the past to see what has happened before. He can do this at Poor (4) rank, allowing him to peer up to sixty-four years into the past. He gains a +2 CS if looking in on someone or something familiar to him, +4 CS if viewing at his own past.
Sending (s): Merzah can use this skill to project long-distance messages to others with his mind alone, doing so with Good (10) ability. In other words, he can project his thoughts to a person anywhere they happen to be. This is very useful for defeating long distance phone bills!
Mental Repair (a): over the years, Merzah has mastered the ability to heal the minds of others with his own. The amount of time this takes depends on the nature of the damage involved, but either way Merzah may attempt to fix such damage with Remarkable (30) ability.
Natural Psionics (Metapsi Powers):
Danger Sense (a): this metapsi art, always active, alerts Merzah to serious personal danger. It works at Remarkable (30) rank, making him aware of danger up to 30 rounds in advance. In combat, he can substitute this rank for his ability scores when attempting dodge or weave maneuvers.
Limitations / Enhancements:
(none)
Equipment:
Cane: in his later years, Merzah has given up all of his conventional equipment, save for this wooden stick. While he could conceivably use this walking aid, of Typical (6) m.s., to assault someone, Merzah mostly just uses it to help himself move from place to place.
Helmet: like many of the Crazy Sues, Merzah wears a helmet while he's in action against the Axis powers. This protective implement provides him Typical (6) resistance against assaults which strike him in the head - though this protection doesn't extend to his face.
Pistol: Merzah uses an old-fashioned pistol in his investigations. This pistol fires bullets capable of inflicting Typical (6) Shooting damage with each shot, enough to discourage most mundane opponents from causing further trouble (and getting shot again).
Submachine Gun: upon being enlisted into the United States Army, Merzah augmented his usual arsenal with a higher powered instrument. This weapon can discharge one round, inflicting Typical (6) Shooting damage, raised by +1 CS in a semi-auto burst, or +2 CS when fired fully automatic.
Quirks:
(none)
Talents:
Detective / Espionage: Merzah is a master detective, though his skills are admittedly augmented by his telepathic prowess. He's quite good at finding the clues necessary to to solve criminal cases, as well as rooting out infiltration attempts by foreign agents.
Guns: though he did not wield a firearm in the execution of his duties with the Crazy Sues, Merzah was nonetheless trained in their general use by the military - just in case. He may wield any standard, semi-automatic, or fully automatic rifle or pistol at a +1 CS.
Martial Arts type B: in addition to being handy with his mental powers, Merzah the Mystic is quite good at engaging in the fine art of fisticuffs. He makes unarmed melee attacks with a +1 CS to the Fighting FEAT roll required.
Military / United States: upon being drafted into the military due to his astounding psionic power, Merzah was trained how to function in a fighting unit. He can readily do so, or even lead such a unit in a pinch, having been indoctrinated into the Army Way.
Theology: as an aside to his psionic development, or perhaps as a part of it, Merzah has studied the Ascended Master Teachings extensively. These have given Merzah an insight into faith in general, and his Reason should be considered +1 CS in such matters.
Contacts:
Merzah can easily rely on his two compatriots in crime-busting, Diana (his assistant) and Jose, (his attack valet). These two ordinary humans accompany him in his adventures, more than pulling their weight when needed to. They would definitely help Merzah if asked.
Of course, Merzah has also enlisted in the military, possibly somewhat against his will. Having been assigned to the Specialized Unit: Enhanced Soldiers program, Merzah can likely consider his fellow Crazy Sues reliable contacts as well.
After the War, Merzah made many contacts amongst the psionics of the world, helping them out whenever they needed it - particularly upon their retirement from their empowered endeavors. In this capacity, Merzah became known to, and trusted by, Charles Xavier.
Costume:
While on an investigation or other adventure by himself or with his usual compatriots, Merzah wears a loose-fitting, long-sleeved red shirt, a golden cummerbund, stylish black jodhpurs, and a pair of expensive black leather boots.
On the other hand, when he's active alongside the Crazy Sues, Merzah makes use of conventional military fatigues. These consist of olive drab trousers and long-sleeved shirts over a white T-shirt, along with a green helmet, brown boots, a brown belt, and dark green webbing.
After retiring from the military and government service, Merzah adopted a less flashy outfit. He wore simple brown and gray robes as the Hierarch of the Age of Aquarius, accented with a golden necklace, a brown cloth belt, and practical sandals for footwear.
Personality:
Merzah is a good man, wielding his psionics to help others, instead of for his own benefit - saying a lot about him, considering how easily they lend themselves to crime. He's a good team player, letting others do their part, while not attempting to hog the limelight with his powers.

Story:
Little is known about Merzah the Mystic, other than that he possessed of terrible mental powers, which he uses to ferret out threats to America. He does this work with the lovely Diana, his rather combative assistant, who enjoys trouncing villains as much as Merzah does.
One of Merzah and Diana's published adventures saw them traveling on a train, when Merzah was hit with a flash of danger. Knowing the imminent fate of the train, he and Diana stepped off the last car, watching as it plummeted into the space that used to hold a railroad bridge.
Making it to the bottom of the ravine, where over half of the passenger train was now resting, Merzah and Diana investigated what had happened. Using his telepathic power, Merzah divined the face of the man who destroyed the bridge, as well as where he was likely hiding!
Of course, this turned out to be a trap, one the duo walked right into. Diana was subdued right away, but Merzah fought on until he was whacked in the head with a pipe. The two came to tied up, at which point Merzah sent out a telepathic message to his valet, Jose, to come pick them up.
Tracking the spy to a Long Island mansion, Jose broke in and freed our heroes, at which point all three start punching and shooting their way through the spies. During this fight, Matsu hopped out a window and made for greener pastures, so Merzah and Jose followed him.
They chased Matsu until his car crashed into a tree, ending his flight. Diana handled her prisoners easily, and called the police to come collect them. And that, pretty much, was it. The trio's further endeavors against spies and saboteurs have yet to be revealed to the public.
However, due to his work against foreign spies, Merzah was well known to the United States government, who felt he would make a great addition to their initiative to weaponize its super-human populace. Thus, Merzah joined Specialized Unit: Enhanced Soldiers - the Crazy Sues!
This unit, working deep behind enemy lines, fought hard to assist the Army in its work against the Axis powers, whether in France, the Pacific, or even Atlantis! And thanks to his psionics, Merzah was an invaluable asset to the Crazy Sues, saving their bacon time and time again!
After the second World War ended, Merzah drifted into obscurity, as far as society in general was concerned. However, he has since worked extensively to help psis in need around the world, even going so far as to build a retirement home of sorts for aging psychic heroes.
Nestled deep within the Himalayas, this compound was where Merzah treated and aided mentally expanded heroes, himself having ascended to the level of Chohan of the 7th Ray and being better capable of handling the needs of damaged psis. Psis such as David Haller.
Otherwise known as Legion, Haller is himself the son of Professor Charles Xavier, and Merzah was treating his considerable mental problems at Xavier's request while Xavier attended to various important matters. And Merzah was making good progress - at least, until the man's death.
Slain by a Phoenix-possessed Cyclops, Xavier's death rippled across the psychic plane, and David couldn't help but note his passing. His control momentarily shattered, David accidentally unleashed his full power within Merzah's compound, killing everyone present... even his beloved guru.
