Origin:
Roadbuster is a Transformer, one of the most infamous of the silicon-based life forms hailing from the planet Cybertron. His origins on that world have blessed Roadbuster with a considerable roster of inherent abilities that would seem, at least to ordinary humans, fantastic in nature!
Known Powers:
Cybertronian Physique: one of the robotic spawn of Cybertron, Roadbuster is an example of its dominant life form: the Transformers! Like everyone else hailing from that world, Roadbuster benefits from numerous abilities related to his electromechanical physique, including:
* Body Armor: Roadbuster is rather durable, being constructed (or perhaps formed) from primarily metallic materials. His innate composition, combined with his bulky anatomy, provides him rank value 20 protection from injury, which is resolved as follows:
RV 20 / RV 6 / RV 2 / RV 0 / RV 0
* Growth / Shrinking: among the Transformers, size isn't really a constant. Roadbuster, for example, stands at approximately twenty-one feet tall - larger than many of his peers. As such, he can be considered to possess innate growth, at rank value 10, to account for his stature.
The curious thing about Roadbuster, however, is that he is used as a vehicle by other Transformers, often those who possess more volume than he! As such, he can either grow further to accommodate such passengers, they shrink to fit within him, or perhaps some mix of the two.
Regardless of his current configuration, Roadbuster has a +2 size factor. He thus suffers a -2 RS when targeting human-sized foes, but gains a +2 RS on any damage he inflicts against them, as well as 2 RS of damage reduction against any attacks they, in turn, launch against him.
* Microscopic / Telescopic Vision: all Transformers have the ability to alter their visual sensitivity where distance is concerned. Functioning at rank value 2, these powers let Roadbuster see objects up to a mile distant with ease, as well as allowing him to read items on microfiche.
* Radio Transceiver: as are most Transformers, Roadbuster is equipped with an audio / video transmission system. This communications rig allows him instant contact with any other Cybertronian within a wide radius of his person, having rank value 20 range (100 miles).
* Resistance / Invulnerability to Disease and Poison: taking his alien physiology and composition into account, Roadbuster is naturally immune to carbon-based disease and poisons. He also possesses rank value 100 resistance to more chemically creative forms of disease.
Headlights: because they come in so handy in the dark, Roadbuster has been equipped with a convenient set of headlights. These twin lamps can be used to generate rank value 20 intensity illumination, making driving at night no problem.
Range Finder: aiding in the use of his shrapnel missile launcher and his linear blaster gun, this device uses infrared laser beams to determine the precise distance between Roadbuster and his quarry. Ranged attacks aided by this implement benefit from a +1 RS to hit.
Shape Change: possibly the power he is most famous for, Roadbuster has the ability to transform! He can switch between his humanoid and his off-road combat vehicle forms at will, and while in the latter configuration, he possesses these vehicular characteristics:
Handling RV 40 |
Velocity RV 20 |
Durability RV 75 |
Protection RV 20 |
Limitations / Enhancements:
(none)
Equipment:
Armor Plating: though he's already rather tough, Roadbuster utilizes additional protection that he benefits from in either configuration. Unless it's been removed by choice or by happenstance, Roadbuster's orange armor plating boosts his body armor by +1 RS.
Laser Rifle: utilized in his humanoid configuration, this hand-held weapon can be fired by Roadbuster to inflict rank value 10 Armor Piercing Energy damage with each blast, enough to crack all but the thickest of armor - especially when used on its weak points!
Linear Blaster Gun: mounted on Roadbuster in his vehicular configuration, he can utilize this weapon to crack almost any defenses. It fires a bundle of charged particles that strike targets to inflict rank value 10 Armor Piercing Force damage with each devastating impact.
Shrapnel Missile Launcher: this shoulder-mounted device can be used by Roadbuster to fire vicious projectiles that are designed to inflict maximum damage - both to personnel and morale. Particularly lethal, they spray foes with shrapnel, and have these characteristics:
Handling RV 40 |
Velocity RV 50 |
Durability RV 20 |
Damage RV 30 Slashing (fragmentary) |
Quirks:
Action Addict: living to ply his martial trade above all else, Roadbuster craves action and excitement. If denied conflict for more than a day, he will often descend into a quiet, introspective funk. If doing something exceedingly tedious like guard duty, however, he'll eventually crack.
If bored out of his skull, Roadbuster must pass a Willpower ACT roll at a -2 RS, the failure of which will cause him to start looking for trouble in his immediate vicinity. If a subsequent ACT fails, made at a -4 RS, he will abandon his current locale and seek out Decepticons to demolish.
Skills:
Leadership: Roadbuster can be a charismatic leader in battle, and his direction typically adds 100 Fortune to any pool he belongs to, assuming folks follow his lead. However, exerting this influence requires him to actually be present in the moment, which is easier said than done.
Contacts:
Roadbuster is an Autobot, a faction of Transformers from the planet of Cybertron who wish to keep their Decepticon cousins from conquering the universe. He's highly regarded by his fellows, even if he isn't all that personable outside of a fight, and they'd gladly help him if asked to.
Likeness:
In his vehicular mode, Roadbuster appears to be a massive off-road vehicle, of possibly alien design, constructed from dark green and earthy brown components. When he transforms, his humanoid configuration appears to be built somewhat from the parts of the vehicle described above.
However, Roadbuster possesses something of a ramshackle appearance regardless of his current configuration. This is because, due to the additional armor plating he makes use of, Roadbuster also has numerous neon orange bits scattered across his body in each of his two modes.
Personality:
Roadbuster lives to fight. He's only a happy 'bot when he's hip deep in smashed Decepticon chassis, transforming one fully functional villain after another into a pile of smoldering wreckage. He's somewhat inspiring in that regard, and often leads Autobot charges against their foes.
The problem is that even Roadbuster has to rest and recharge now and then. That and eventually, even he invariably runs out of Decepticons to demolish. While bombastic and charismatic on the battlefield, Roadbuster becomes quiet and listless whenever bereft of conflict of any sort.
It's not that Roadbuster is particularly violent or ill-tempered, so much as warfare is all that really interests him. His singular hobby, Roadbuster's legendary lifestyle of disassembly is all that he has, and without it this mechanoid simply doesn't know what to do with himself.
Real Name: Roadbuster
Occupation: ground assault commander
Legal Status: citizen of Cybertron with no known criminal record
Marital Status: inapplicable
Alias(es), if any: none
Group Affiliation: Autobots
Height: 21'
Hair: inapplicable
Eye: green
Weight: several tons
Other Distinguishing Characteristics: in either of his configurations, Roadbuster appears to be haphazardly constructed from random components, possessing bright orange, dark green, and earthy brown coloration scattered across his body. But this impression is an illusion.
Roadbuster's core body is decorated in terrestrial colors, you see, with numerous orange armor plates shoring up his protection from injury. Thus, those somehow unfamiliar with Roadbuster tend to underestimate him - something which quickly proves to be a fatal error.
