Origin:
Ruination is, as are all other Decepticons on earth, an electromechanical entity with origins on the planet Cybertron. While his fellow Decepticons possess a continued existence, though, Ruination only comes into being when the five Combatrons merge to create him.
Known Powers:
Cybertronian Physique: like the other Decepticons, Ruination is a robotic entity of Cybertronian design and origin. As such, this gestalt being has, by his very nature, the use of a large variety of abilities that reflect this. His very body gives Ruination these super-human powers:
* Body Armor: formed from primarily metallic entities, Ruination is considerably durable. His sturdy, inorganic composition affords him Excellent (20) protection from attack, enough to shrug off most human assaults. Ruination's armor breaks down as follows:
Ex 20 / Ty 6 / Fe 2 / Sh 0 / Sh 0
* Growth: Cybertronians come in all manner of sizes, few of which align with the human norm. Ruination, for instance, normally stands at around thirty feet tall in his humanoid mode, which grants him this power at Good (15) rank as a general matter of course.
As such, this composite warrior possesses a +2 size factor. He thus suffers a -2 CS when targeting human-sized foes, but gains a +2 CS on any damage he inflicts against them, as well as 2 CS of damage reduction against any attacks they, in turn, launch against him.
* Microscopic / Telescopic Vision: all Transformers have the ability to alter their visual sensitivity where distance is concerned. Functioning at Feeble (2) rank, these powers let Ruination see objects up to a mile distant with ease, and allow him to read items on microfiche.
* Radio Transceiver: as are most Transformers on earth, Ruination is equipped with an audio / video transmission system. This communications rig allows him instant contact with any other nearby Cybertronians, having Excellent (20) range (100 miles).
* Resistance / Invulnerability to Disease and Poison: an inorganic life form, Ruination possesses complete immunity to poisons and organic diseases. He also possesses Unearthly (100) resistance to more chemically creative forms of disease.
Camouflage System: as do his component Combatrons, Ruination has a specialized camouflage system that lets him blend into various environments (such as Arctic tundra). This system works at Feeble (2) rank, giving him a camouflage pattern appropriate to the background.
Double Demolition Cannons: Ruination's primary built-in weapon is Mega-Octane's twin laser. In his hands, though, Ruination can inflict much more damage, as he can fire two laser beams which can inflict Amazing (50) Armor Piercing Energy damage per blast.
Also, as can Mega-Octane, Ruination can simultaneously fire two missiles at an opponent. Now, if both of these projectiles manage to strike their target, they inflict Unearthly (100) Edged Attack (fragmentary) damage all at once. Otherwise, each individual missile behave as follows:
C Am 50 |
S Am 50 |
B Ex 20 |
P Monstrous 75 Edged Attack (fragmentary) |
Flight / Levitation / Super Leaping: in his flight mission mode, Ruination can use Ro-Tor's lift capabilities in various ways. He can leap into the air with Shift Z (500) ability, levitate indefinitely, or even fly through the air at Typical (6) speeds (ninety miles per hour).
Gestalt: Ruination is the product of a merger between the five Decepticon Combatrons: Armorhide, Mega-Octane, Movor, Rollbar, and Ro-Tor. Unlike most Cybertronian combiners, though, Ruination can merge into two separate forms - a land mission mode and an air mission mode.
Sting Blades: in addition to providing lift, the rotors Ruination inherits from Ro-Tor can be used in a vicious, bladed body check in his air mission mode. Such charge maneuvers inflict his Endurance rank in Edged Attack damage - raised by +1 CS if attempted at the end of a super leap.
Limitations / Enhancements:
(none)
Equipment:
Rage Lasers: Ruination's twin weapons, themselves a gestalt of the various weapons wielded by the five Combatrons, are two terrifying devices to behold. He typically wields them both in combat, each of which can inflict Amazing (50) Energy damage, +1 CS if both are fired at once.
Quirks:
(none)
Talents:
Advanced Guns 2: as all of his component Decepticons possess this talent, so too does Ruination. He is exceptionally proficient in the use of most advanced, directed energy weapons, regardless of what kind of energy they're casting about. He wields these devices at a +2 CS.
Military 2: again, it should go without saying that Ruination naturally has this talent, since his component Combatrons are so overwhelmingly martial in their mindsets. This allows him the tactical skills necessary to effectively lead fighting beings into combat, regardless of the mission.
Contacts:
As one of the Decepticons' most powerful warriors, Ruination can naturally rely upon his fellows for assistance should it become necessary. After all, should they refuse him, Ruination is just as likely to turn on them as he is the Autobots - and his cruel malice is legendary!
Likeness:
Ruination has a curious appearance, in that his form is a composite of the five Combatrons combined into a singular being. His form primarily appears to be built, with the exception of Mega-Octane (who serves as his torso) from several whole, if slightly off-scale, military vehicles.
Personality:
Primarily driven by the mind of Mega-Octane, the fusion of Decepticons that is Ruination is an atrociously cruel general, one who thinks of nothing but combat. With his considerable power, he is quite confident in battle, to the point that he'll take excessive risks to win no matter the cost.
Real Name: unrevealed
Occupation: Decepticon warrior
Legal Status: inapplicable (he's only in existence occasionally)
Marital Status: inapplicable
Alias(es), if any: none
Group Affiliation: the Decepticons, the Combatrons, former Autobot
Height: 30' (approximately)
Hair: inapplicable
Eyes: red
Weight: quite a few tons
Other Distinguishing Characteristics: Ruination is an immense construct resulting from the merger of five militant Decepticon warriors, making him rather unique in appearance. He may appear in one of two configurations, depending on the situation at hand (or random folly).
Story:
As is the case with most Cybertronian gestalts, Ruination leads a transient existence, only extant when his five component Decepticons (Armorhide, Mega-Octane, Movor, Rollbar, and Ro-Tor) merge their bodies and minds together into a single whole. Which may be with precedent.
Even before they were tainted by Megatron's evil, the five Autobots that eventually became the Combatrons were a tight-knit commando squad, one that worked well together for quite some time. It's even possible that they had the ability to merge their bodies in their previous lives.
Either way, Ruination made his first appearance shortly after his component entities were changed into Decepticons. On a mission to instill fear into humanity which had gone amiss, the Combatrons were waylaid by Sky-Bite's interference, which ultimately led to an Autobot encounter.
Seeing his forces about to lose, Scourge ordered the Combatrons to combine, at which point they merged to form Ruination's air mission mode. He would've crushed the Autobots before him if not for that pesky Rail Racer, who showed up at the last minute to take him down a peg.
After this, Ruination was repeatedly called upon by his Decepticon bosses, usually when the individual Combatrons who comprised his existence were insufficient to complete whatever task was at hand. However, thanks to the efforts of the Autobots, Ruination is not currently at large.
This is because, though it took them some time, the Autobots on earth managed to ultimately defeat all of Megatron's minions active there. After this, they hauled their defeated cousins off, imprisoning them on an asteroid penal colony somewhere in the vicinity of Cybertron.
As such, we may not be seeing Ruination again. Unless, of course, all five of the Combatrons Megatron has created refuse to be restored to their original, Autobot states - not to mention successfully attempt to escape from said penal colony.
Ultimately, only time will tell.
