Origin:

As are his fellow Vehicons, Nightcruz is an electromechanical being from Cybertron, a robot that that was used in an extensive conflict against the Maximals on that world. This alien mechanoid is also from another time period, making him doubly out of place on earth.

Powers:

Cybertronian Physique: Nightcruz is a robotic entity of Cybertronian design and origin. As such, this aerial antagonist has, by his very nature, the use of a large variety of abilities that reflect this. His very body gives Nightcruz these super-human powers:

* Body Armor (s): built (or formed) from primarily metallic materials, Nightcruz is considerably durable. His sturdy, inorganic composition affords Nightcruz intensity 4 (+1) protection from attack, enough to make him at least somewhat resistant to basic human assaults.

* Growth (a): Cybertronians come in all manner of sizes, few of which align with the human norm. Nightcruz, for instance, generally stands at eighteen feet tall in his humanoid mode, which grants him this power at intensity 4 as a general matter of course.

As such, this high-flying spy possesses a +4 size factor. This grants him a +4 bonus to the damage he inflicts on normal sized foes, while theirs suffers a -4 against him. Conversely, he suffers a -4 penalty to strike standard sized enemies in the first place, while they gain a +4 to hit him.

* Microscopic + Telescopic Vision (w): all Transformers can alter their visual sensitivity where distance is concerned. Functioning at intensity 2, these powers let Nightcruz see objects up to a mile distant with ease, and allow him to read items on microfiche.

* Radio Transceiver (i): as are most Transformers, Nightcruz is equipped with an audio / video transmission system. This communications rig allows him instant contact with any other Cybertronian within a wide radius of his person, having intensity 7 range (100 miles).

* Resistance / Invulnerability to Disease and Poison (s): as an inorganic life form, Nightcruz possesses complete immunity to poisons and organic diseases. He also possesses intensity 30 (+7) resistance to more chemically creative forms of disease.

Clamp (s): in his robot mode, Nightcruz has a massive clamp for a left 'hand'. It is effectively at intensity 1 for fine dexterity, but it can grab onto anything as if his Strength was +3 instead, and he can hold on until he lets go or the clamp is broken.

Deflection (i): Nightcruz's body is built for speed, as well as defense. His unique armor is built to 'bounce' energy away from his body at oblique angles, giving him -4 of deflection against any energy-based attack. Or the use of radar technology.

Missile Launcher (i): Nightcruz can make use of laser-matrix missiles in either mode. He can store many of these on hand, firing one these projectiles to inflict intensity 13 damage, though he can increase this by +1 if he hits a target with two simultaneously.

Shape Change (a): his most notorious ability, this power allows Nightcruz to transform his humanoid form into that of a Cybertronian stealth bomber! Nightcruz's vehicular mode is fast, being capable of intensity 14 Flight, moving at up to five times the speed of sound.

Hindrances / Augmentations:

(none)

Equipment:

(none)

Skills:

Aerial Combat (a): Nightcruz doesn't know a lot, but what he does know involves fighting in mid-air. This former Vehicon can maneuver effectively even at super-sonic speeds, and may attempt any combat action while airborne (whether offensive or defensive) at a reduced difficulty.

Contacts:

Nightcruz is an Autobot, and may rely upon his fellows for assistance should he but ask - especially where fellow high-flying 'bots like Storm Jet is concerned. He may have further contacts as well, depending on just who he used to be in his previous life.

Not that he knows who that was yet, either.

Calling:

Peace of Mind, with a secondary calling of Outcast: while the Autobots have accepted him into their ranks, Nightcruz often feels like an outsider, as he cannot recall if he was their friend or their enemy in his previous incarnation.

Likeness:

In his alternate mode, Nightcruz has the appearance of an advanced, Cybertronic stealth bomber with white and light blue trim. When he transforms into his humanoid shape, Nightcruz looks like a robot built from the carcass of a black and white Aurora stealth craft.

Personality:

Nightcruz enjoys soaring above the clouds, spying upon the planet below (whichever it may be). It gives him an inner piece, one that at least temporarily stops him from dwelling on questions of identity that he has constantly faced since his strange resurrection.

Real Name: unrevealed
Occupation: aerial reconnaissance
Legal Status: citizen of Cybertron, with no known criminal record either there or on earth
Marital Status: inapplicable
Alias(es), if any: none
Group Affiliation: the Autobots, former Vehicon drone

Height: 18'
Hair: inapplicable
Eyes: yellow
Weight: many tons
Other Distinguishing Characteristics: Nightcruz is composed of a powerful alien metal that is primarily black in hue, with a considerable amount of white and blue trim scattered across his body, regardless of which form he currently occupies. Note that he still bears Vehicon symbols here and there, which are literally built into his frame, despite his Autobot allegiance (and insignias).

Story:

A long time ago, in an era that has yet to come to pass, a diabolical villain known as Megatron (though he wasn't the first to bear that name) conquered the world of Cybertron. Wielding a powerful mechanoid virus, Megatron stripped the world of all organic life in one fell swoop.

This save for a few Maximals that were hot on his trail, but arrived too late to stop the former Predacon - and now leader of the Vehicons faction - from taking over. To enforce his rule, Megatron built a wide variety of Vehicon drones, which his lieutenants could use to do his bidding.

One such line of Vehicon drones were bombers led by Spy Streak, which resembled alien Aurora variants - which could transform into powerful humanoids when necessary. The purpose of Spy Streak's bombers was to perform aerial reconnaissance, but also to fight when necessary.

Megatron was ultimately defeated by his eternal foe, Optimus Primal, who died in the same conflict. All of the sparks that had been collected by Megatron were released upon his demise, and were used to repopulate the planet Cybertron in its new, techno-organic phase of existence.

One such spark fell into the body of an inert, yet intact stealth drone, and imbued it with life. This spark did not know who or what it was in its former existence, but it found it had a powerful, high flying body with which to explore its identity and the world around it.

Calling himself Nightcruz, this former Vehicon drone was collected by the spirit of Optimus Primal, who was traveling into the past along with several other Vehicon remnants. Making him an offer he couldn't refuse, Nightcruz agreed to travel into the past along with this strange ghost.

The idea was that he would have plenty of time to discover just who and what he is - and was - all the while using his powerful frame to do good for the world. As such, upon his arrival on modern day earth, Nightcruz joined the Autobots alongside Primal's other Vehicon refugees.

Once within their ranks, Nightcruz began to assist Storm Jet in aerial operations against the Decepticons, who had a lot more aircraft with which to perpetuate their evil. He did this, often serving as a spare pair of eyes in the skies, until the Decepticons' defeat.

With that done, Nightcruz has returned to Cybertron, though he has arrived in an era far beyond even his own advanced time. There, he is continuing his quest for identity and self, and may someday finally determine just who he used to be - for good or ill...!

Design Notes:

There is no actual information about Nightcruz in any of the Robots in Disguise product literature, or anywhere else for that matter. Being a Vehicon repaint, who even has Vehicon symbols here and there, I have tied his story into that of the 'ghost' of Optimus Primal.

I used the tech specs of Beast Machines Sky Streak as a foundation for this fellow, though keep in mind there is nothing 'canonical' here - this is as close as I could get to 'official' with nothing to point me in the right direction. Use this description, or not, as you see fit.
