Technoholic Formula Changes - Year 20!
April 8th, 2018: as this, the twentieth Technoholic year comes to a close, I am wrapping up my work on Tomax, the first of two twins who command the Crimson Guard. I have built out his Saga System 13 and 4C System: Edition 13 variations, and then added details of his subsequent action figures that weren't straight-up homages of one or more of their predecessors.
April 7th, 2018: with their minions described in great detail, it's high time that I begin my work on the twin commanders of the Crimson Guard. As such, I have taken the time to produce a Universal Heroes description of Tomax, one of the two twins who comprise this elite Cobra force's leadership. I even managed to find an old photo I took of him!
April 6th, 2018: one thing I always do upon wrapping up one of my big GI Joe or Cobra equipment and personnel rosters is either create or update the text file downloadable for the material, so players have easy access to these characters and devices when offline. This because, naturally, I haven't gotten around to building sleek PDF files of them all.
April 5th, 2018: the absolute last thing I need to refine for the 1985 GI Joe roster, the Weapons Transport Vehicle, has now been streamlined. I slightly tweaked its text and the range on its radio, and then built a 4C System: Edition 13 variation on the thing. So yeah, that just leaves Cobras to sort out before I can leave this year behind for good. Yay!
April 4th, 2018: wrapping up my rules work for this Technoholic year, I proofread the 4C System: Edition 13 variation on the philosophical school's micro-expansion for the Book of Magic! I found a lot of oddities I missed, what with me having written the entire thing while at work, and have since fixed them for both this and the original, Universal Heroes version!
April 3rd, 2018: I assure you that I was not Fooling on the 1st of April, and I did indeed produce a description of the original Crimson Guard. Thus, I was able to expand them today, adding details of all their subsequent figures that weren't direct homages to one of their predecessors. And thus, the foundations for the rest of the 1985 Cobra roster are built!
April 2nd, 2018: welcome back to the Internets today, those of you who unplugged it and walked away to avoid everyone's insipid sense of 'humor'! Today, I have built the 4C System: Edition 13 variation on the Book of Magic's philosophical school micro-expansion, and even caught an error or two in the original text that needed fixing as I did so. Good gravy, we're on a roll here!
April 1st, 2018: it's that day again, when sensible people simply unplug the Internet and avoid all the blatant stupidity masquerading as 'April Fool's Jokes' on, well, just about every single site hosted by somone who thinks they're more clever than they really are. If you aren't sensible, though, here's my take on the original, 1985 Cobra Crimson Guards!
March 31st, 2018: with the text for my Universal Heroes variation on the philosophical magic micro-expansion to the Book of Magic written, I built out the spell roster for it. And that just left a round of proofreading to go, which I have completed, even if it involved a few serious reconfigurations of a paragraph here and there to ensure I got everything just right.
March 30th, 2018: it would appear that I am almost done with my work on the 1985 GI Joe roster. This is because I have completed an overhaul of the Tactical Battle Platform, one of my favorite Joe bases - and not just because I got one for xxx-mas back in that year. I cleaned up the text only a bit, since it was mostly good, and added its 4C System: Edition 13 variant.
March 29th, 2018: finishing up my character generation example for philosophical magicians, I have written the origin of Alice Aplomb, a human who was raised on another plane, but wound back up on our world completely by accident. Naturally, hailing from a much more orderly realm, she thinks our plane could use the kind of help that only she can provide, so she decided to stay and 'fix' it!
March 28th, 2018: returning to the 1985 GI Joe roster, I have cleaned up my description of the Armadillo Mini-tank today. I've produced a 4C System: Edition 13 variation for this vehicle as well, and then added details of all its subsequent models over the years, including the Slaughter's Marauders iteration, as well as the so-called Jungle Panther hybrid version.
March 27th, 2018: with the actual rules for the overhauled philosophical school of magic sorted, it's time to build a character generation example for the Book of Magic micro-expansion dedicated to it. I'm sort of building a dual knife-wielding battle-mage of a direct action philosopher who was raised in another universe, and so far I'm feeling pretty good about him or her.
March 26th, 2018: I have completed my work on Cobra's Snow Serpents today. I researched all of the action figures this enemy of freedom received after 1985, and applied everything from the Real American Hero line to all three of the different versions I've built of these guys and gals. Which means it's time to (almost) wrap up the 1985 GI Joe roster. Yay!
March 25th, 2018: what do you know, I'm still being paid to grind out Technoholic goodies for all y'all. I have written the fifth and sixth section of the Book of Magic's micro-expansion on philosophical magic. Though this one has become a lot longer than all the others thus far, I think I managed to explain what I was going for much better this time around.
March 24th, 2018: again cycling back to my work on the 1985 Cobra roster, I've begun work on another all new character description! This one covers the original Snow Serpents, one of my single favorite action figures from that villainous organization. I've got versions of him in all three games the 13 currently suppors to check him out today!
March 23rd, 2018: continuing on in my effort to codify the rules for the philosophical school of magic, I have banged out the third and fourth sections of this micro-expansion to the Book of Magic. The best part is that I'm actually being paid to write this today, since I have hit a lull in a recertification course I'm taking at work, and have hours to kill!
March 22nd, 2018: the last Joe I need to modernize in order to wrap up their 1985 personnel roster, I have cleaned up the text on Quick Kick today. Most of it was in good shape, so this didn't take me too long. I did add a 4C System: Edition 13 variation on the man, as well as details about his 2010 action figure, which was odd since he died years ago.
March 21st, 2018: another mystic school I have banged my head against for some time is that of philosophy. As has been the case these last few months, I managed to figure out how I wanted to represent it in the midst of a crushing headache. But, with armed with that information, I have concocted the first two sections of this micro-expansion for the Book of Magic.
March 20th, 2018: there have apparently been a whole lot of Lady Jaye action figures released since the last time I visited her extant game information here at the 13. I have nonetheless added details about each to her newly modernized character descriptions, along with Condensing what details I had on those figures which I had already covered here.
March 19th, 2018: though I just proofread a thing four days ago, I'm all done with the 4C System: Edition 13 variation on the Book of Magic's Voodoo micro-expansion. Thus, I did another round of error checking. The text was eminently serviceable, of course, but I found a few ways I could improve it, namely by switching out a few words, here and there.
March 18th, 2018: oddly, I wasn't looking forward to cleaning up my text for Lady Jaye, since I wanted to sort out the text on her javelins, but wasn't sure quite how to do so concisely. I nonetheless managed this, along with sorting out the rest of her text, and then built a new, 4C System: Edition 13 variation on her character descriptions.
March 17th, 2018: as I've been doing with my rules work the last year or so, I have converted the Voodoo micro-expansion of the Book of Magic to 4C System: Edition 13 terms. Aside from the character generation example, featuring Hoodoo Larry, most of this was actually pretty system-agnostic. Thus, this actually only took me about thirty minutes.
March 16th, 2018: since I'm all out of old entries to rehabilitate in my 1985 Cobra roster, I'm left with all-new ones to sort out! Today's is yet another sea-based character, the Lamprey, who I have built in three RPG variations. It's fitting that I cover the Lamprey now, since I modernized my description of their sweet rides, the Morays, about a week ago.
March 15th, 2018: to wrap up the Universal Heroes variation on my Book of Magic micro-expansion dedicated to Voodoo, I have built out the roster of spells for this mystic school, and then proofread everything I'd written so far. In the process of this, the Hoo-Doo Poe-Poe has transformed into Hoodoo Larry, because why not? Either is fine, but eh.
March 14th, 2018: yeah, yet another sea-faring GI Joe update today, as I modernized my text for the USS Flagg, that Nimitz-class aircraft carrier that Keel-Haul has at his disposal. Since this was one of my later creations, the text only needed minor tweaking before I added a 4C System: Edition 13 variation on this mobile command center for the Joe team.
March 13th, 2018: I wrapped up the character generation example for the Voodoo micro-expansion to the Book of Magic today. The Hoo-Doo Poe-Poe is now fleshed out somewhat, enough to at least make use of him in one's game if they so desire. I know he's another police wizard, and I even mentioned that in his text, but I think he's different enough to work.
March 12th, 2018: modernizing yet another naval figure today, I have completed an overhaul of Keel-Haul. I've streamlined and rewritten half of the text on his extant descriptions, produced a 4C System: Edition 13 variation on the man, and Condensed his 1993 figure into his original description, while narrowly avoiding the addition of his 2014 'tribute' figure.
March 11th, 2018: today I began work on the character generation example for the Book of Magic's Voodoo micro-expansion, completing the first half of that part of this small, but important work. I already have a pretty good picture of what I'm going for with this particular character, but as it turns out I don't have nearly the number of points required for that. Sigh.
March 10th, 2018: I modernized my description of Cobra's Moray hydrofoil this time around, which wasn't too painful, and then added its 4C System: Edition 13 variation. What sucked was Condensing the thing, and then adding details of all its many convention-exclusive repaints that I'd skipped last time around. Those, they took quite a while to research.
March 9th, 2018: continuing on in my effort to expound upon the mystic school of Voodoo, I have written the third, fourth, and fifth sections of rules text for this micro-expansion to the Book of Magic. This one in particular focuses on new data for the school, including a few details about Loa, as well as ways a Voodoo caster can choose to specialize their magics.
March 8th, 2018: I get to close this Technoholic month on a good note, namely by completing my work related the one and only Sgt. Slaughter. I Condensed all his post-1985 descriptions into the ones I crafted two days ago, and added details about three convention-exclusive figures I previously shunned. That just leaves his many vehicles, yet. Sigh.
March 7th, 2018: I've pondered exactly how I wanted to expand upon Voodoo for my Book of Magic for quite some time, because I have always felt the need to strike a balance between 'cinematic' Voodoo and a faith that millions of people actually practice. I may finally be on the right track, for I crafted the first two sections of this micro-expansion today.
March 6th, 2018: for the longest time, I was annoyed by the presence of Sgt. Slaughter in the GI Joe mythos, though my recent policy of Embracing the Absurd finally let me enjoy the character for what he is. Thus, modernizing his extant, 1985 figure's character descriptions, and adding the 4C System: Edition 13 variation, was a snap today!
March 5th, 2018: with the 4C System: Edition 13 variation on the Faerie magics micro-expansion to the Book of Magic done, I have of course proofread it, as well. And, as is always the case, I found numerous minor improvements to the text that I subsequently ported back to the original, Universal Heroes text. So that's ten micro-expansions completed!
March 4th, 2018: I sorted Heavy Metal out a few days ago, so now seemed as good a time as any to clean up his sweet ride. Thus, I tightened up the text on the extant versions of the MBT Mauler, built a 4C System: Edition 13 variation on the thing, and even Condensed it to add details from the 1989 Equalizer, which uses most of its parts.
March 3rd, 2018: as I did on the previous nine micro-expansions to the Book of Magic, I have taken the proofread text of the Universal Heroes variation on Faerie Magics and have translated them into 4C System: Edition 13 terms. I also changed the terminology on both as I did so, because I was distinguishing between Faerie and Fae entities, for clarity.
March 2nd, 2018: once again skipping over to the 1985 Cobra roster, I have rehabilitated my descriptions of Torch. I've cleaned up the text on his original, 1985 variation, Condensed his two subsequent figures into his original entries, and then produced a 4C System: Edition 13 variation on the man for your gaming use. Not bad for one day, eh?
March 1st, 2018: since the Universal Heroes variation on the Book of Magic's Faerie wizardry micro-expansion is complete, it seemed time to proofread the thing - more so than I already have, anyway. And, though I thought the text I banged out on Red Bull ™ and adrenaline was perfect before, I found a couple grammatical tics that needed fixin'. So I did!
February 28th, 2018: persisting in my effort to clean up my GI Joe character reference, I have overhauled what I had written for Heavy Metal today. I cleaned up his text a bit, built a 4C System: Edition 13 variation on the man, and then added details of his 1989 mail-in figure - even if he was pretty much the same, save for trouers of a livelier color.
February 27th, 2018: I've finished up the character generation example for the Book of Magic's Faerie wizardry micro-expansion, wherein I complete the creation of the Tricksy Bixie. Who knew a bixie was a Chinese chimera? Not me! But I liked the sound of it, particularly in contrast to 'pixie', which was where part of my naming was initially focused, so I went with that instead.
February 26th, 2018: though it seemingly took forever, I have Condensed all of my extant entries for Shipwreck post-1985 into his original character description. I then added details about numerous additional action figures, because some have come out since last I worked on GI Joe's chief sailor, and some I had previously skipped due to convention exclusivity.
February 25th, 2018: continuing to bang away at the Faerie magics micro-expansion for the Book of Magic, I have produced the first three sections of its character generation example. It occurred to me that I hadn't done any of these examples of character generation with character limitations in play, and a Faerie wizard seemed a perfect way to showcase this.
February 24th, 2018: in my attempt to wrap up the 1985 material for GI Joe and Cobra by the end of this Technoholic year, I started working on Shipwreck. I took time out today to clean up my description of his original action figure, and built up a 4C System: Edition 13 variation on a theme. I was also happy to find that I took a nice photo of him!
February 23rd, 2018: getting right back on it, I have pounded out two more sections of the Faerie magic micro-expansion for my Book of Magic. It's funny how, after banging my head against this thing for so long, it's just flowed right out of me. I should slam more Red Bull ™ while I'm at work, I guess. Makes me productive on my breaks, too!
February 22nd, 2018: moving back over to the 1985 Cobra roster, I have added an all new equipment description! Covering the Cobra Battle Kits from this year and the next, this entry only actually details three prefabricated assemblies that Cobra utilized during the 1980s. This entry isn't as impressive as its GI Joe counterpart, but then Cobra only had three of these.
February 21st, 2018: it's funny, really. I have been wrestling with how I wanted to portray the Faerie and their magic for years and years, and then it just came to me at work in a flash. So now I have written the first two sections of text describing this school of magic for all y'all, and opened up a new link to it in the Book of Magic's appendices.
February 20th, 2018: having modernized Frostbite, you know I wasn't going to leave his ride alone for long. Thus, I also modernized the various iterations of the Snow Cat! I Condensed all the versions of this thing I'd already covered into one document for each game, and then added two new ones. But no 4C System variation was needed - I'd already done one!
February 19th, 2018: once more, we proof. I have cleaned up a bevy of grammatical oddities in the text for the 4C System: Edition 13 elementalism micro-expansion of the Book of Magic, which I then shared with the Universal heroes variant of such. I did find one or two conversion oddities, but those were a lot easier to sort out. But that's nine done, now!
February 18th, 2018: since I've got his first iteration done, it's high time I wrap up my work on Frostbite. I Condensed all of his other figures covered on the 13 into his newly clean 1985 descriptions, and since he hasn't had any new figures that aren't homages, he's done! Now, if only he, Iceberg, and Snow Job had some cold weather Cobras to fight.
February 17th, 2018: this time around, I converted all of my text for the Universal Heroes variation on the Book of Magic's elementalism micro-expansion to 4C System: Edition 13 terms. I also ported the changes I made to the original version of the Elemental Control spell over to edition 13 as well, since that was something that needed doing.
February 16th, 2018: completely applicable to today is Frostbite, the 1985 GI Joe Snow Cat driver. This because it's freezing and snowing out, and by golly I am too old for that crap. At any rate, I've updated the man's character description for his original calendar year, and I've also produced his 4C System: Edition 13 variation. Because, you know, I always do.
February 15th, 2018: I completed the last section of the elementalist character generation example for that school's Book of Magic micro-expansion today. I then built out the elemental school spell roster, and proofread all of my work thus far - including changes to the elemental control spell. And thus, the Universal Heroes variation on such is complete!
February 14th, 2018: digging in, I researched the Cobra Eel, and have determined that five of their post-1985 action figures actually apply to the Real American Hero storyline. Thus, I added those in to the basic character description for each game the 13 supports, so now Torpedo and Wet-Suit have themselves some aquatic villains to fight!
February 13th, 2018: I continued on in my crafting of an elementalist character generation example in the Book of Magic's micro-expansion dedicated to this school today, wrapping up two more sections of such. The dice weren't all that conducive to maximizing this character's potential, but at least they helped me sort out his background considerably.
February 12th, 2018: today at Technohol 13, I have added someone new to the 1985 Cobra roster! Yes, I have researched the Cobra Eel, and have produced three variations on a description for their action figure that year. All I have to do now is incorporate bits from the other five releases of Eel and these Cobras will finally be fully extant on the site!
February 11th, 2018: starting out on the character generation example for the elementalism micro-expansion of the Book of Magic, I have produced the first two sections of such. These deal with the essential game information for the Enderbiter, an elementalist who started out by focusing on the element of rock while training with several others in Antarctica.
February 10th, 2018: slowly making headway in the 1985 GI Joe roster, I've completed a vast overhaul of Footloose. I modernized his text, though most of it was doing okay, Condensed his subsequent action figures into these character descriptions, added details of his new, 2012 figure, and even built his 4C System: Edition 13 variation. Woo!
February 9th, 2018: so I wrote out the fourth section of the elemental micro-expansion for the Book of Magic, and it turns out I seem to have written text for the Elemental Control spell without realizing it. Recalling that I needed to fix that spell anyway, I simply swapped the elemental text blocks between the micro-expansion and spell description. Eureka!
February 8th, 2018: wrapping up this Technoholic month, I admit I did a pretty easy update. This is because I have modernized my description of the 1985 Bomb Disposal Unit, which is a rather small entry in my GI Joe reference. It needed no Condensing, so all I really had to do was touch up its text and build out its 4C System: Edition 13 variation.
February 7th, 2018: though I am still having a bit of tonal problems in its writing, I have completed the first two sections of my elementalism magic micro-expansion for the Book of Magic. Well, technically three sections, since I was able to mostly lift one right out of the geomancy micro-expansion for the most part, but nonetheless.
February 6th, 2018: peeking in on the 1985 Cobra roster once more, I see that I'm quickly running out of old things to refurbish. Which is good! Today's effort saw me rehabilitating, modernizing, and Condensing the Night Landing, Cobra's much smaller boat from this year. I even added a blurb about its newer, 2014 variations, so this one's all done!
February 5th, 2018: I'm done with the Edition 13 variation on the eclecticism micro-expansion for my Book of Magic, so I have proofread it today. As is always the case, I found it required a bunch of grammatical improvements, which were also applied to the original, Universal Heroes variation on this theme. So that's eight Book expansions down!
February 4th, 2018: though it felt like it took days, I have wrapped up my work on Flint. After condensing down all of the data I had for his action figures released after 1985, I then researched this Real American Hero's action figures released since last I tinkered with my GI Joe reference, and added those in as well. I do so enjoy completion.
February 3rd, 2018: since the Universal Heroes variation on the Book of Magic's eclecticism micro-expansion is done, it's time to craft the 4C System: Edition 13 variation on this curious theme. And this is what I did today, which was much easier now that my seeming migraine has taken a perp walk right out of my head. It's about time, don't you think?
February 2nd, 2018: working hard to wrap up my work on the 1985 GI Joe roster by the end of this Technoholic year, I have begun to sort out what I've written for Flint. I modernized all of the text in his considerably long character description that covers this particular year, and then added his 4C System: Edition 13 variation on that theme. For reasons!
February 1st, 2018: having written the vast majority of the first, Universal Heroes variation on my eclecticism micro-expansion for the Book of Magic, I wrapped up its text by producing the small roster of eclectic 'school' spells, and then proofread my work. I then ran the text through my copy of Word ™, since I banged most of this out while migrained.
January 31st, 2018: though there wasn't a ton of Condensing that needed doing for Ripper, I took an extra day to sort out that work for the man, as well as research any new action figures I may have missed. Since I've been adding in convention-exclusive figures (which I previously ignored), I definitely added that as well, so Ripper's all done!
January 30th, 2018: continuing on with my effort to complete the Book of Magic's eclecticism micro-expansion, I have completed its sections dedicated to a character generation example, showcasing the creation of the one and only Inhibitor of Injustice! Though sometimes, I wish I had a few thousand more words to better reveal the stories inherent to these characters.
January 29th, 2018: sidling back over to the 1985 Cobra roster, I have modernized my description of the original 1985 Ripper action figure. This inveterate hooligan has seen all of his text rewritten from the ground up, and I then added a 4C System: Edition 13 variation of the man for good measure. Which gets us ready for the Condensing!
January 28th, 2018: utilizing my 5mm steel percentile dice, I began to randomly roll up an example eclecticist, and documented my progress in prose! Thus, I have completed the next two sections of the eclecticism micro-expansion for my Book of Magic, and already I have an idea how I want this character's story to unfold. Which will come in handy in, oh, two days!
January 27th, 2018: I Condensed all of Dusty's subsequent, post-1985 character descriptions into his now-modernized entry, and then researched all of his later action figures. I found two more that fit into the Real American Hero storyline that weren't direct homages, and then added everything I could from them as well. So Dusty's now current again!
January 26th, 2018: apparently, I do my best writing when I'm fighting off a migraine, for I managed to pound out the words for the next two sections of the eclecticism micro-expansion for the Book of Magic in near record time. I've read and reread it, and tweaked the text repeatedly over the course of a few hours, but the basic shape of it was sorted in minutes!
Jauary 25th, 2018: continuing on in my effort to modernize the 1985 GI Joe roster, I have cleaned up my description of that year's Dusty action figure, tweaking the verbiage considerably and tightening up the text. I then added a 4C System: Edition 13 variation of the man as well, because I always must - especially for one of my favorite Joes!
January 24th, 2018: I wrote the text for the first two portions of the eclecticism 'school' of magic, and then I wrote them again, and then again once more. Then I sat on them for a good long time, though not quite as long as I did with paraprobabilitism, and revisited my work anew. A few tweaks later, I think this half of my latest expounding is solid.
January 23rd, 2018: in an effort to complete my work on the AWE Striker and its many variants, I Condensed the material I had for its later iterations, and then researched the newer versions I hadn't actually covered yet. I added all of their data to the reduced AWE Striker vehicle descriptions, and now these things are current once more!
January 22nd, 2018: being that I'm all done with both versions of the Book of Magic micro-expansion dedicated to the school of thaumentalism, I proofread the 4C System: Edition variation on it today. Of course, I'd forgotten to run the original through Word until today, so I really wound up applying a bunch of stupid fixes to both versions. Sigh.
January 21st, 2018: since I've cleaned up its driver, I guess it's time to overhaul what I've produced for the AWE Striker thus far. I have cleaned up its Universal Heroes and Saga System 13 variations, and then added the 4C System: Edition 13 version of the thing. Now I just need to Condense some of its future versions, and detail the newest ones.
January 20th, 2018: I have converted my extant text for the thaumentalism school micro-expansion of my Book of Magic from Universal Heroes rules to 4C System: Edition 13 terms. This was surprisingly light work, as was the case with the last micro-expansion, since there aren't too many crunchy rule bits that needed translating this time around.
January 19th, 2018: once more resuming my effort to complete the 1985 Cobra roster, I have produced a description of the Cobra Flight Pod, or Trubble Bubble, which was first released in this year - but had more in '97 and '08. Essentially a chair welded onto a jetpack, this thing seems like it would be incredibly dangerous to fly... but I would try to anyway.
January 18th, 2018: as is always the case when I'm done writing something, it's time for some error checking! Proofreading all of the new Book text I have produced since the beginning of this Technoholic month, I have tweaked the grammar, and removed a word that didn't quite mean what I always thought it did, because even I screw up English now and then.
January 17th, 2018: looking in upon the 1985 GI Joe roster once more, I have modernized my description of Crankcase. I cleaned up the text in his two extant versions, modifying the Saga System 13 one as I went, added a 4C System: Edition 13 variation on the man, and then plugged in details of his only subsequent, 2008 action figure. This fellow's all done again!
January 16th, 2018: wrapping up the creative portion of my work on the Universal Heroes variation on the thaumentalism micro-expansion to the Book of Magic, I wrote the last portion of its character generation example, and then built out its spell roster. Once again, I find I love doing these examples with the point buy method, since they go so fast.
January 15th, 2018: switching back to the 1985 GI Joe roster, I modernized my take on Bazooka, though he was in decent shape overall. I then Condensed his many entries into the two variations on him I currently had on the 13, added details of his new, 2015 action figure, and then produced a 4C System: Edition 13 variation on the man. Completion!
January 14th, 2018: considering how open-ended a thaumentalist can be where their spell and power selections are concerned, I was compelled to include at least one example of character generation regarding them - and not just because I'm doing that with all the other Book of Magic micro-expansions. The first three sections of this are now done.
January 13th, 2018: continuing my work on the Tele-Viper, I have researched all of the subsequent action figures for this rank of Cobra operative, and then added details of all seven of them to my three extant variations on these villainous technicians. And then, after building out their text file downloadables, I can say the Tele-Vipers are all done now.
January 12th, 2018: mechanically similar to how physiomancers operate, I found building the third and fourth portions of the thaumentalism micro-expansion of the Book of Magic relatively simple. I even directly lifted a bit of text from the previous text for this school when crafting it, since it was already pretty solid. Waste not, want not, as they say!
January 11th, 2018: returning to the 1985 Cobra roster, I have changed it up slightly by building an all new Cobra entry! Today's addition to the 13 is the Tele-Viper, whose 1985 action figure has now been introduced for your gaming delights. His first figure is now available in Universal Heroes, Saga System 13, and 4C System: Edition 13 variations!
January 10th, 2018: continuing my effort to expound upon all thirteen known schools of magic, I have written the first two sections of text regarding thaumentalism for its micro-expansion of the Book of Magic. Another combination character type, thaumentalists have both wizardry and psionics at their beck and call, giving them nigh-infinite possibilities!
January 9th, 2018: having sorted out Tollbooth just two days ago, now seemed like the time to modernize his ride: the Bridge Layer! 1985 is still the only year this vehicle was used, so Condensation was completely unnecessary. Thus, I refined the text on its extant descriptions, and added a 4C System: Edition 13 variation to wrap up my work on this curious device.
January 8th, 2018: to wrap up this Technoholic month, I finish my work on the entreatism school for now. Proofreading the 4C System: Edition 13 micro-expansion to the Book of Magic concerning that school of sorcery, I only really found one error that I'd missed before, so I fixed that. After one or two more grammar and word choice tweaks, then, I was done!
January 7th, 2018: today, I went to the bother of modernizing my description of Chuck X. Goren, otherwise known as Tollbooth! As luck would have it, his text was in pretty good shape, so I cleaned it up just a tad, and then built a 4C System: Edition 13 variation of the man. Finally, I added details of his new, 2013 action figure, and then called him done.
January 6th, 2018: reasonably happy with the entreatism text for my Book of Magic micro-expansion covering that school, I have converted it all over to 4C System: Edition 13 terms. This was surprisingly quick work, in that I apparently wrote the whole thing to be rules-lite. Heck, even the character generation part didn't take me very long to sort out!
January 5th, 2018: once again returning my gaze to the 1985 Cobra roster, I have overhauled my description of those villains' Ferret! I have modernized my extant descriptions of these four wheeled ATVs, built a 4C System: Edition 13 variation of them, Condensed what I had for other versions thus far, and then added some all new details!
January 4th, 2018: as I always do around this time in the game, I have proofread all of the text I wrote for my Book of Magic's entreatism micro-expansion. Everything seemed fine at first, but pouring the text into Word proved that no matter how clever I think I am with the English language, I still can't spell very well while multitasking. Sigh.
January 3rd, 2018: once again hammering away at the 1985 GI Joe roster, I have modernized my description of Barbecue - but as it turns out, he was in pretty good shape. I thus built out his 4C System: Edition 13 variation, Condensed what I had for his 1989 and 1992 figures, and then added details of his 2011 action figure. And hey, he's all done!
January 2nd, 2018: well then, it appears that I'm done writing the Universal Heroes variation on the Book of Magic's entreatism micro-expansion. All that remained to do was the last section of the character generation example, as well as the entreatism spell roster. I really need to do another point-based example for y'all, they write up so much easier!
January 1st, 2018: happy new year! That's right, another calendar year has rolled over for us, and here's hoping that 2018 is as productive for us as 2017 was! Celebrating overall progress thus far, I took time to modernize my description of a 1985 GI Joe vehicle: the Silver Mirage! I cleaned up its text, made a 4C System variation, and Condensed it up.
December 31st, 2017: o hai, 2018 is nigh! To celebrate the occasion, I've written three of the four sections necessary to produce our example entreatist. Normally I do more, but this particular character is being built using the point system, so they're coming along a lot faster than the previous entries. I should do this more, huh?
December 30th, 2017: moving over to the 1985 Cobra roster today, I have modernized my descriptions of Buzzer. This Dreadnok's entry was in particularly bad shape for some reason, but I have ironed out the many and various kinks within. I then built him a 4C System: Edition 13 variation, and added details for his two subsequent action figures. Voila!
December 29th, 2017: I fleshed out the Sorcerous Concordat that entreatists utilize to increase the amount of requests for power they may attempt to make without undue notice today, this consisting of the second half of the 'flavor' text for this Book of Magic's micro-expansion. And then I rewrote it a few times, becase I'm a pest that way.
December 28th, 2017: since I'm done with Airtight, I have gone through and modernized Alpine. I cleaned up his equipment some, added a 4C System: Edition 13 variation of this Joe, and then Condensed what I had for him. Once I then added his new, 2015 action figures to the mix, I've found that I'm all done with this fellow's overhaul, as well. Yay!
December 27th, 2017: upon starting work on the entreatism micro-expansion for the Book of Magic, I re-read the extant text for that school, as well as the extensive rules I wrote for entreaties. As it turns out, what I'd provided thus far didn't really make entreatists all that unique, so hopefully the first two sections of this expounding will do a better job.
December 26th, 2017: while I'm trying to bask in the glow of completing my 1984 Cobra roster, I must move on. Thus, I have begun work on the 1985 GI Joe roster, starting out with Airtight. I've modernized his original, 1985 action figure, built a 4C System: Edition 13 variation of the man, and then added details from his subsequent action figures. Woo!
December 25th, 2017: hey everybody, merry xxx-mas! As a special holiday gift for all y'all, I have wrapped up my work on the fifth of thirteen planned micro-expansions for the Book of Magic, this one covering the practice of clericism! The 4C System: Edition 13 variation on this is now proofread, and I'm ready to start up on expansion number six now!
December 24th, 2017: what do you know, it's the night before xxx-mas, and not a creature is stirring, except for Firebomb, of course! Putting a bow on all of my work on the 1984 Cobra roster, both long ago and in the recent past, I have built up a zip file archive of all the text file downloadables I've produced for that year's personnel and equipment.
December 23rd, 2017: with with my having fine tuned the original, Universal Heroes variation on the clericism school micro-expansion for the Book of Magic, I used that text to concoct the 4C System: Edition 13 variation on the same. This wasn't too tricksy, as the first half was almost rules-free, when you get down to it. Almost, at any rate.
December 22nd, 2017: hey, it's my birthday! So, as a present for both myself and everyone else eagerly awaiting progress on my GI Joe character reference, I have wrapped up my work on Firefly at long last. That's right, his Saga System 13 variation is done, and I then produced a text file downloadable of both it and the Edition 13 variation. Yay!
December 21st, 2017: I put together the small roster of clerical spells for that school's Book of Magic micro-expansion, and then went about proofreading the whole shebang. This combines the work of two days into one update - neat, eh? Of course, I've proofed everything a dozen times already, and this is just the 'last' one, so there's that.
December 20th, 2017: with his Universal Heroes variation filled out through his last action figure, released in 2015, I have converted all of the post-1984 data for Firefly into 4C System: Edition 13 terms. I did a second round of proofreading on the bits that didn't need converting, as well, because I had a doubt about them. And I found one whole error!
December 19th, 2017: I wrapped up my clericist character generation example for this latest micro-expansion of the Book of Magic. This fellow, the Lugal, was trained in the fine art of worshipping Babylonian deities by Anu's very own sukkal, Ilabrat, and then turned loose on the world. And each of his spells reflect a powerful god from that pantheon!
December 18th, 2017: since his original, 1984 version is all tidied up, I have moved on where Firefly is concerned. Researching all of his action figures through today, I've added various details concerning his subsequent hardware and field uniforms to his Universal Heroes character description, and produced a proper text file downloadable for the man.
December 17th, 2017: with the basic, flavorful clericism text done, I have begun work on the character generation example for this particular school of magic. You might begin to see a theme with this individual, which is reflected across several of my sample folks for these micro-expansions, the reasons for which will eventually become apparent.
December 16th, 2017: I believe that I have read enough comics starring Firefly to produce a description of his original, 1984 incarnation, so I went ahead and did all three versions of that today. Sure, his original action figure didn't mention any ninja stuff, but his actual background in the GI Joe comic did right from the get-go. So don't you quibble at me!
December 15th, 2017: continuing on in my effort to expound upon the practice of clericism, I have written three more sections in that school's micro-expansion for the Book of Magic. Normally I only do two, but this one simply required a bit more explanation of the pros, cons, and fine details. Not that I imagine anyone will complain about more goodies.
December 14th, 2017: though I've dreaded working on this guy forever, I have finally started the process of detailing Firefly for my GI Joe character reference. Mind you, I've spent the entire day doing copious amounts of research to figure out how I wanted to do this, so I haven't actually written anything up for him as of yet. But I have read many, many comics!
December 13th, 2017: since I'm on a roll, I am continuing on with my effort to get at least half of the Book of Magic's micro-expansions complete before the end of this Technoholic year. Thus, I wrote the first two sections of the Clericism elucidation today, going into more detail than the extant Book text on this school provides players.
December 12th, 2017: digging in and doing some research, I have sorted out which of Scrap-Iron's action figures apply to the Real American Hero line, and which don't. I then plugged the pertinent information into his three character description variations, and now we're all done with this guy. So yeah, that just leaves one more 1984 Cobra to go. Sigh.
December 11th, 2017: proofreading my way through the 4C System: Edition 13 variation on the Book of Magic's paraprobabilitism micro-expansion, I saw some grammatical glitches I missed the first time around. I went ahead and fixed those, and then ported those changes back over to the original. Which means we now have four of these Book boosters complete!
December 10th, 2017: beginning my penultimate addition to the 1984 Cobra roster, I have completed my take on that year's action figure for Scrap-Iron. This obsessive perfectionist has worked as a weaponsmith for years, until the need to test his creations on that which irks his ire became overwhelming. Luckily for him, Cobra is happy to enable him!
December 9th, 2017: happy that I've almost wrapped up my work on the paraprobabilitism micro-expansion for the Book of Magic, I took the Universal Heroes text for it and converted it over to Edition 13 of the 4C System. My work is live as we speak, but I do have to go through and give this variation a proper read-through before I can call it good.
December 8th, 2017: I am wrapping up this Technoholic month with an all new description of Cobra equipment! That's right, though I initially didn't intend to do so, Hasbro finally made a Weather Dominator toy, of all things, so I had to cover it here. It is available for your use in all three game systems I support, and features a few screenshots!
December 7th, 2017: with the Universal Heroes variation on the paraprobabilitism micro-expansion for my Book of Magic entirely written, it's time to break out the editorial tools. I have run the extant text through the spellcheck utility in Word, and of course reread all of my work thus far. I made a bunch of changes, and now I'm even happier with it!
December 6th, 2017: researching all of Copperhead's action figures released after the first, I unearthed numerous consistencies in his many portrayals, oddly. This, of course, made adding all of that data to his three different game versions pretty easy, so I've managed to wrap this odd villain up once and for all. That's a lot of wraith suits, isn't it!
December 5th, 2017: with all the other text for my Book of Magic's paraprobabilitism micro-expansion settled, I produced a small blurb for the collection of that school's thirteen unique spells. Just a paragraph, give or take. I then plugged said spells into the document, so players can find all the unique information they need for these mages in one spot.
December 4th, 2017: well, Copperhead's ride is done, so I guess I need to write him up proper, eh? Thus, I dug up as much as I could about the Water Moccasin pilot, and produced an all new character description of him today. And yes, I did all three variations of the man's 1984 action figure, so you can add him to your Cobra gaming roster today!
December 3rd, 2017: I have again finished three blocks of text necessary to complete my Book of Magic micro-expansion concerning paraprobabilitism. This last bit finalizes my character generation sample, who has taken the form of Aristarch! Oddly enough, she seems to hold up well, and most of the dice I rolled steered her in a coherent direction. Yay!
December 2nd, 2017: banging my head against the Internets, I found all the details on all the versions of the Water Moccasin that I was previously lacking, and then plugged them into the extant entries for that vehicle. So, they're now all Condensed up, which once again means that it's time for me to add another Cobra operative to the mix. Guess who?
December 1st, 2017: I've finished the next three blocks of text required for my Book of Magic micro-expansion concerning paraprobabilitism. This is namely the first half of the character generation sample, and I've again gone with mostly random dice rolls for this - with a small amount of editorial oversight. And, so far so good, I think!
November 30th, 2017: moving along in the 1984 Cobra roster, I have cleaned up my work on the original, 1984 version of the Water Moccasin. Oddly enough, I didn't have too many problems here, and only had to perform a few minor tweaks before producing the 4C System: Edition 13 variation on this vehicle. Which leaves further research on the thing.
November 29th, 2017: proceeding forward with my work on the paraprobabilitism micro-expansion for the Book of Magic, I have detailed the process by which these bleeding edge sorcerers can attempt to alter the nature of spells they cast. Of course, I went into similar detail about how such attempts can go horribly, horribly wrong, so there's that.
November 28th, 2017: what with his 1984 variation sorted out, I have expanded upon Wild Weasel to cover all of his many and various action figured released since then. Having properly researched him, I then added the relevant data to all three game versions of his character description, which means he's ready to be added to your game!
November 27th, 2017: I've been banging my head against the text for the Book of Magic's paraprobabilitism school's micro-expansion for some time, but couldn't quite seal the deal. However, I rearranged what I'd written for the first two sections today, and then rebuilt a few paragraphs of it, and now I'm thinking that I might finally be happy enough with it.
November 26th, 2017: hey, the Rattler is all done. Uh, again. Thus, I suppose I should finally cover the pilot infamous for flying the thing in Cobra's employ, now, shouldn't I? That's right, I've gone and added my take on Wild Weasel's 1984 action figure today, in a version for all three games currently supported by the 13. Nice, eh?
November 25th, 2017: while I was trying to bask in the glow of my completion of the whole geomancy expansion for the Book of Magic, I found a few errors in the Book while working on that material. Namely, I had to fix the geomancy spell generation tables in both versions of the thing, as well as add an Oxford comma to the fluid animation power description.
November 24th, 2017: since the original, 1984 version of the Rattler is now happy, I researched this thing in order to ensure I had all of its variants in place, as well. Since I apparently did, I Condsensed them all in from my subsequent Rattler and Rattler-like descriptions, and now each version is only one document long. Yay!
November 23rd, 2017: I took the time today to proofread the 4C System: Edition 13 variation on the Book of Magic's geomancy micro-expansion, and found a bunch of grammatical concerns that needed fixing. Naturally, these same errors applied to the Universal Heroes version of this thing, so I had to parallel those changes there, as well.
November 22nd, 2017: with Storm Shadow done at long last, I've turned my attention to another 1984 Cobra device. This time casting my gaze upon the Rattler, I've cleaned up my extant descriptions of this venerable aircraft, and then produced a 4C System: Edition 13 variation on the same. So now it's all modernized for your gaming use!
November 21st, 2017: the hard part being done, constructing the 4C System: Edition 13 variation on the Book of Magic's geomancy micro-expansion was relatively painless. Heck, about half of the text involved was flavorful instead of crunchy, where rules are concerned, so this didn't take too long. So yeah, this is available for your perusal as well!
November 20th, 2017: wrapping him up at long last, I have converted all the previously amassed action figure data for Storm Shadow post-1984, and have converted it over for his 4C System: Edition 13 description. And then, to put a bow on all that work, I built out his text file downloadable, making the use of him in your games a cinch!
November 19th, 2017: I guess the Universal Heroes version of my geomancy micro-expansion of the Book of Magic is now complete. Thus, it's time I break out the proofreading and spellchecking. I am reasonably happy with what I've put together here, so I have now gone live with the thing. In case I missed anything, I'm sure I'll catch a few things shortly.
November 18th, 2017: continuing on in my effort to finally clean up what I've written for Storm Shadow, I've filled in his action figure details through his latest figure that applies to the Real American Hero fiction for his Saga System 13 variation. I then proofread that work, and filled out his text file downloadable for archival use.
November 17th, 2017: with the other new text for the geomancy micro-expansion of my Book of Magic written, I put a quicky blurb in for the actual geomancy spell roster, and then went about filling that thing out. Sure, there's only thirteen spells, but that does take a while to code up the includes and the index of the thing and blah blah blah.
November 16th, 2017: having eliminated all the many and various Storm Shadow action figures that don't apply to the conventional, Real American Hero storyline, I have finished adding details of the remaining toys and their many weapons to Storm Shadow's Universal Heroes variation, and then filled out his mammoth text file, as well. Yay!
November 15th, 2017: I wrapped up the character generation example portion of my geomancy micro-expansion of the Book of Magic today, which means we now have a working version of the Flurry of Fury! Despite him having only wound up with two spells, I think this guy came out pretty darn good, so I hope you find him entertaining and/or useful!
November 14th, 2017: going through what I'd done for Storm Shadow's post-1984 figures thus far, I Condensed all of that information into his Universal Heroes and Saga System 13 variations. I've also begun research on all of his subsequent figures, and am working to determine which applies to the base, Real American Hero storyline.
November 13th, 2017: continuing on in my effort to produce another micro-expansion to the Book of Magic, I have completed the first half of the sample character generation portion of the geomancy spell document. Considering that I usually start with an idea and work backwards, almost entirely going with dice has been something of an eye-opener for me.
November 12th, 2017: being that I should probably stop avoiding it, I have begun work on the fourth GI Joe character that I have dreaded laying hands on since I started the Condensation work. He is Storm Shadow, who I have greatly streamlined today (well, his 1984 version, at least), and then produced a 4C System: Edition 13 variation for.
November 11th, 2017: continuing on during spare moments of opportunity while at work (i.e., on breaks), I have completed the third and fourth sections of text for my Book of Magic's geomancy micro-expansion. I am liking what I've put together so far, since I seem to have cleared up a few questions the extant text posed, and loosened things up a tad.
November 10th, 2017: having gone to the trouble of tidying up what I'd written for Zartan, it seems that I should do the same for his ride, eh? Thus, I took time out today to overhaul my text for his Chameleon swamp skier, which is now properly modernized - not that it needed much work. Oh yeah, it now has a 4C System: Edition 13 variation, to boot!
November 9th, 2017: giving up on the paraprobabilitism text altogther for the time being, I have instead decided to bang my head against a different school of magic, at least where those micro expansions are concerned. Thus, I've begun writing an expansion of the geomancy school, and have already put together the first two sections of this new work!
November 8th, 2017: wrapping up this Technoholic month, I completed my work on the Condensation of Zartan's three different variations. Furthermore, I went public with an image of him I apparently scanned from a pin-up of the villain years and years ago, which somehow was on my site but wasn't linked to for some reason. Whoops.
November 7th, 2017: well there, that wasn't so bad. I've just wrapped up my effort to rebuild all nine of the Manual of the Psi's discpline powers breakout pages, namely by sorting out the theonic powers documents, for both the Universal Heroes and 4C System: Edition 13 variations on the game. Which means they're ready for further use!
November 6th, 2017: returning to Cobra operatives, since I covered an all-new device last time I touched my GI Joe reference, I have overhauled my description of 1984's Zartan. This took a bit, since he is loaded chock full of talents, but I tweaked his powers, modernized all of his text, and built him a 4C System: Edition 13 variation.
November 5th, 2017: for our penultimate overhaul fo the Manual of the Psi's discipline breakout pages, I have rebuilt the Universal Heroes and 4C System: Edition 13 variations on the technopsionic powers document. Both of these have been rendered civilized once more, which just leaves us one more of these things to sort out, finally.
November 4th, 2017: continuing on in my effort to complete the '84 Cobra roster, I've produced a description of Assault System Pod, or ASP. A portable cannon that can be used to strike targets on land, sea, or air, the ASP can swivel in 360 degrees horizontally, or 90 degrees vertically, letting its cannons attack anything it can see. Nifty, eh?
November 3rd, 2017: well hey there, what do you know? It would appear that we've got seven of the nine necessary overhauls of the Manual of the Psi's discipline breakout pages rebuilt! Today has seen us completely polishing up the superpsi powers document, for both the Universal Heroes and 4C System: Edition 13 rule sets. Just two more to go!
November 2nd, 2017: with her original, 1984 variations complete, I took the time to Condense all of my many and various Baroness descriptions into a singular file for each game version of her we've got here on the 13. I added details regarding two convention-exclusive figures, but other than that her data hasn't really changed all that much.
November 1st, 2017: now two thirds of the way done with an overhaul of the discipline power breakout documents in my Manual of the Psi, I have completed my work on that book's psipathic abilities. Whether you prefer the Universal Heroes or 4C System: Edition 13 variation on my first big custom character creation guide, this is now modernized!
October 31st, 2017: hey, it's already Halloween! For this fortuitous occasion, I have modernized my descriptions of the original, 1984 Baroness! Her text is now all sleek and compact, and I even produced a 4C System: Edition 13 variation of her as well. This took a bit longer than I thought, what with her extensive history, but at least it's done!
October 30th, 2017: having passed the halfway point on my overhaul of the Manual of the Psi's discipline power breakout pages, I have essentially rebuilt the psimotive documents. For both the Universal Heroes and 4C System: Edition 13, this piece of information is now cleaned up, and the errors that crept in over the years have been excised.
October 29th, 2017: I am alternating between Cobra personnel and equipment as I overhaul and expand my coverage of its 1984 roster. Instead of cleaning up an extant entry, however, I am instead producing an all new device description today. That's right, you can find Cobra's CLAW (Covert Light Aerial Weapon) in the 1984 Cobra roster as we speak!
October 28th, 2017: now on part four of our nine part excursion into the rebuilding of the Manual of the Psi's discipline breakout pages, I have overhauled the psimantic powers document. For both the Universal Heroes and 4C System: Edition 13 variation of such, things are now squeaky clean. And I found a few more errors on the main Powers documents that needed fixing, too.
October 27th, 2017: well, I'm done overhauling the 1984 GI Joe roster, so it seems that I must begin work on the 1984 Cobras! I went the easy route today, modernizing the only 'troop' style Cobra from this year, the Stinger driver. He is fully cleaned up, Condensed, and has his 4C System: Edition 13 variation installed as of right now. Enjoy!
October 26th, 2017: I am now one third of the way done with my effort to overhaul the Manual of the Psi's discipline roster documents. This is because, just now, I have wrapped up the rebuilding of the psikinetic discipline documents for both the Universal Heroes and 4C System: Edition 13 games. Only six more to go, which ought to take the rest of this Technoholic month.
October 25th, 2017: having Condensed the original, 1982 GI Joe roster a good while back, some stuff has since slipped through the cracks, and I am thus forced to add details regarding Stalker's 2015 figure, Shooter's 2016 figure, and Flash's 2007 convention exclusive figure (which I guess I forgot). I then updated the '82 Joes archive again.
October 24th, 2017: continuing my work to rebuild the Manual of the Psi's discipline sub-pages, I have cleaned up both variations on the metapsi discipline's power roster. As I did yesterday, I replaced the entries on these from the main Powers document, albeit in a form edited to just reflect their psionic variations, and cleaned up a few glaring errors as a result.
October 23rd, 2017: since I've finished my work on the 1984 GI Joe roster for like the fifth time, I went and rebuilt the text file downloadable for this grouping of personnel and equipment. That way, you can grab all of these guys for your own, personal gaming use with but one click - since I haven't made any sexy .pdfs for this material yet.
October 22nd, 2017: as multiple errors have crept in whilst updating the Manual of the Psi's power roster over the years, I feel the need to rebuild its discipline power listing documents. I started with the empathic powers document today, replacing all of its listings with (edited) versions from the main powers document, for both versions of it that are currently live.
October 21st, 2017: though he got a lot of play in the 1984 GI Joe comics, Rip Cord fell off the face of the earth after that. Nonetheless, I cleaned up my data for his original action figure, as well as the one he sort of received in 2003, and then gave him a 4C System: Edition 13 variation. So this last Joe from this year is now modernized. Yay!
October 20th, 2017: apparently I never made a 4C System: Edition 13 variation on the Group spells page. This is something I find odd since that would've been incredibly easy to do. Either way, I went ahead and did that today, and then fixed an error I found on the Universal Heroes Group Spells document, so I guess it wasn't all for naught.
October 19th, 2017: I don't know why, but Recondo has never been one of the Joes I particularly liked. Nonetheless, I put in the time to research all of his new figures, and have Condensed all of the information from them into his one description for each variation of the rules I provide support for. That just leaves one more 1984 Joe to go!
October 18th, 2017: I completed my rebuild of the 4C System: Edition 13 Book of Magic. I did about half of this two days back, before descending into despair over the pointless work I apparently gave myself months ago - previous to fixing the rolling tables, even. But at least I'm all done with this chicanery now, and can get on with anything else.
October 17th, 2017: continuing on in my effort to wrap up the 1984 GI Joe roster yet again, I have modernized my description of Recondo. I had apparently produced his 4C System: Edition 13 variation at some point in the past, so all I had to do was just clean up the text for all three variations on this man's character description.
October 16th, 2017: I spotted a tiny typo when poking around in my Book of Magic after some shameless self-promotion, when I discovered the entire 4C System: Edition 13 version of such had somehow been overwritten - and I have no idea when! @#$! Thus, I have begun to rebuild that file from the Text File Downloadable, since it wasn't wrecked, too.
October 15th, 2017: my research into radio and radar tells me I have probably been giving some of the Joe equipment a bit too much reach - but then, I'm an engineer, not a physicist. Heh. Anyhow, I overhauled all the equipment entries from 1984 to fix this malady, and will sort out the previous two years as time permits - relatively soon, hopefully.
October 14th, 2017: grabbing all of the revised random rolling tables from the Manual of the Psi, I have converted them from html into much simpler text, in order to go into the various text file downloadables I've got resting here at the 13. I updated both the Universal Heroes and 4C System: Edition 13 files today. And that, that is that.
October 13th, 2017: with about as much data as I am going to find, and having researched radar and radio technology more thoroughly, I've put together a quick description of the GI Jane. This frigate is a ship the Joes used to haul personnel and equipment around the world, when a C-130 wasn't practical, and is now covered in the 1984 Joes roster!
October 12th, 2017: grabbing all of the revised random rolling tables from the Textbook Character Treatise, I have converted them from html into much simpler text, in order to go into the various text file downloadables I've got resting here at the 13. I updated both the Universal Heroes and 4C System: Edition 13 files today. Yay!
October 11th, 2017: while I finished my work on all the existing 1984 GI Joe equipment entries a few days back, I needed some time to research an all new one today. Well, all new as in 'It's something from the comic I ought to cover but never bothered, and details on it are pretty hard to find.' So yeah, spent today reading old GI Joe comics. Heh.
October 10th, 2017: with the new random rolling tables built up for the Textbook Character Treatise, in both the Universal Heroes and 4C System: Edition 13 variations, I paralleled all of those modifications to both versions of the Technical Reference and the Deionomicon, as they have virtually identical power generation systems. Woo!
October 9th, 2017: I have begun this Technoholic month by completing my work to modernize Mutt and Junkyard, two of the Joes from 1984 that had numerous figures released after that. Other than adding one new figure from 2004 to the mix (a janky convention thing), I Condensed everything down for him into a single document for each version. Yay!
October 8th, 2017: what with my having upgraded the Universal Heroes variation on the Textbook Character Treatise, I paralleled the improvements I have made such to the 4C System: Edition 13 version. In doing so, I found a few more errors that may have been sitting pretty on that document for quite some time. And, again, no one told me.
October 7th, 2017: picking up one of the few '84 Joes that still needs modernizing, I cleaned up that year's version of Mutt and Junkyard. Aside from his history, most of the man's text wasn't too bad, really, so that made this work relatively easy - concentration lapses aside. As always, I also produced his 4C System: Edition 13 variation.
October 6th, 2017: I added Charm, Daydreams, Degeneration, Group Link, Harm, and Roulette to the Unviersal Heroes variation on the Textbook Character Treatise today. This required updating numerous random power rolling tables, and a bit of power reshuffling, so I had to go and test all of these tables once I was done fidgeting with them.
October 5th, 2017: as it turns out, I missed a version of Grunt and Steeler, which I found out when I added another version of the HISS tank - one that GI Joe stole for its own use in 2015. So, I backtracked and added details for their new figures from that year in, and cleaned up a few oddities from that roster year. 1982 is all current - yet again.
October 4th, 2017: what with my having upgraded the Universal Heroes variation on the Manual of the Psi, I paralleled the improvements I have made such to the 4C System: Edition 13 version. I also fixed an error on each of the 4C System psionic discipline breakout pages, which has probably been there for years - and no one told me. Sigh.
October 3rd, 2017: I know I worked on this material sort of backwards compared to my typical process, but the various GI Joe battle kits are weird, and thus my process was similarly awkward. Heh. Anyway, I produced the complete 4C System: Edition 13 variation on the Joes' battle kits, so now the extant 1984 equipment entries for the team are done. Uh, again.
October 2nd, 2017: I added Degeneration, Fugue, Group Link, and Harm to the Universal Heroes variation on the Manual of the Psi today, which prompted me to also expand the casual power rosters for most of the empathic discipline, and all of the psipathic discipline. Which prompted a testing of the links in the entirely rebuilt random power tables.
October 1st, 2017: tidying up the last bit of extant GI Joe gear from 1984, I've gone and modernized the text I have written for the team's many and various battle kits. I also condensed the existing material I've written for these down to singular documents, which just leaves the creation of the 4C System: Edition 13 variation on this equipment.
September 30th, 2017: since I've rebuilt all of the spell rosters in the 4C System: Edition 13 variation on the Book of Magic, I figure I should copy those over into the text file downloadable for that system before I forget to do so, as I did with the Universal Heroes version. Thus, I spent the day doing that, which is work I hate, but it needed doing.
September 29th, 2017: Roadblock's three variations have been Condensed into singular documents today. Since I'd already written the vast majority of this material, it didn't take too long, text files notwithstanding. I only had to write details for two of his outfits, since the figures in question all used his 'classic' 1984 gear. Yay!
September 28th, 2017: I never realized that I hadn't updated any of the spell rosters for the 4C System: Edition 13 variation on the Book of Magic. Drat! Thus, I spent the day's time here on the 13 transplanting all of those tables from the Universal Heroes version the Book into this one, and rewiring them to direct y'all to the proper Powers document. Sigh.
September 27th, 2017: moving from one toy to another that had many, many versions, I have trained my neurotic eye on Roadblock today. I've modernized his text, largely rewrote his history, and added his 4C System: Edition 13 variation. I also researched his future, and most of what I haven't covered involved his action figures from the second film. Score.
September 26th, 2017: as I pondered where to plug the six new powers into the Textbook Character Treatse and the Manual of the Psi, I realized that I hadn't added the Book of Magic's spell rosters to the text file downloadables for the Universal Heroes and 4C System: Edition 13 variation, so I went ahead and did so for the former. I will take care of the latter soon-ish.
September 25th, 2017: while there weren't as many versions of the Sky Hawk as there were the HISS, there were as many as there were of the SHARC. I think. Anyway, I've Condensed what I had written for the Sky Hawk's 'children' thus far, and then added all the new details of all the repaints I hadn't yet covered here on the 13. You're welcome!
September 24th, 2017: by the time I'd cleaned up the final vampirism power, I saw a few bits of text I wanted to refine in all the previous iterations of such. Thus, I revisited and refined the text for Biological Vampirism, Energy Vampirism, Psionic Vampirism, Spectral Vampirism, Super Vampirism, Thaumaturgical Vampirism, and plain old Vampirism one more time.
September 23rd, 2017: I've been alternating between GI Joe operatives and equipment of late, mostly since each of these Joes had their own ride. Spirit did not, however, but I nonetheless modernized what I've written for the Sky Hawk, because I like the thing - and I'm almost out of vehicles. Enjoy its new, 4C System: Edition 13 variation!
September 22nd, 2017: with the actual proofreading done on the Powers document, I ran the remaining bits through Word ™ to catch any spelling errors I'd missed. This final chunk of work to get all four variations on the Powers document up to code consisted of 71 pages, or 31,571 words of text gone over. And I'm totally burned out on proofreading.
September 21st, 2017: researching Spirit figures released since 1984, I saw that three more that apply to the 13 have come out since I last overhauled this fellow. Thus, I Condensed everything I wrote for him previously, and then added details for his 2010, 2011, and 2015 action figures, getting him all up to date once more. Yay!
September 20th, 2017: with the complete roster of extant powers revised in all four variations of the Powers document, it seemed as good a time as any to do the final proofreading on the last three additions I made to such. Thus, I've given Group Link, Guise, and Infusion the hairy eyeball one last time, and after a few linguistic tweaks, I'm calling these even better!
September 19th, 2017: moving on to (relatively) new things, I have cleaned up my description of Spirit today. His text needed tightening up and modernizing, which is what I did, after which point I ensured that I built his 4C System: Edition 13 variation as well. We are trying to be thorough here, after all, so the 4C variation is a must!
September 18th, 2017: I revised my descriptions of the Warding, Weather Control, Wings, and Witchery powers, which both started and finished the powers that begin with 'W'. I then cleaned up my text for Xenoglossy, which also started and finished the powers that begin with 'X'. And what do you know? There are no powers that start with either 'Y' or 'Z'!
September 17th, 2017: last time around, I covered Thunder, so today I took a look at his ride. The Slugger is basically a 29 ton gun on wheels, and was relatively easy to modernize the descriptions I wrote for it. So I did that, and built a 4C System: Edition 13 of the thing, and then Condensed its entries down to one per game. Bang!
September 16th, 2017: running down the proverbial clock where my Powers work is concerned, I have overhauled the text extant for the Vibration Control, Vibration Generation, Vivification, Vocal Control, and Vodun abilities. As it turns out, this has wrapped up all the powers that begin with the letter 'V', which leaves just two more letter blocks to go!
September 15th, 2017: done with loose ends for the moment, I switched gears and have overhauled my descriptions of Thunder. I cleaned up his Universal Heroes and Saga System 13 variations, and then added an all-new, 4C System: Edition 13 version. And, since he requires no Condensation, I'm all done with this heavy metal Joe now!
September 14th, 2017: today, we overhaul all the powers that start with 'Variable', including Variable Cybernetics, Variable Power, Variable Psionics, Variable Sorcery, and Variable Talent (Skill). And now, after cleaning up four variations on five distinct iterations of a common ability, I think my brains are well and truly running out my ears, now. Bleargh.
September 13th, 2017: with the 'base' model of SHARC covered, I added details on each variation of my desciption of the thing regarding the Night Shade, the Sky SHARC, the Wave Crusher, the SHARC Tooth, the Night Specter, and the other Wave Crusher. So I think this thing is all Condensed now. There are a lot of SHARCs, aren't there?
September 12th, 2017: I've completed another big block of upgrades to the text on all four variations of the Powers document today. Running my recent work through Word ™, I see that this block of such consisted of 168 pages, or 76689 words, of text. Only ten percent to go! Unless, of course, I counted wrong upon beginning this massive work on the 13.
September 11th, 2017: I'm not sure why I skipped over the SHARC in order to bang my head against Duke's various character information for over a week, but I did. Go figure! Nonetheless, I got back on the ball and modernized my description of this thing, and of course built a 4C System: Edition 13 variation as well. Because I must!
September 10th, 2017: I fine tuned my descriptions of Unyielding Will and Upgrade today, which wrapped up the powers that begin with the letter 'U'. Thus, it's time to continue on with the next letter of the alphabet, which prompted me to also clean up the text for Vampirism, Vapor Animation, and Vapors. Finally, I'm all done with vampiric powers. Or... am I?
September 9th, 2017: at long last, all of my work to modernize my GI Joe entries for Duke is done - save for one detail. While producing text files for my character descriptions is generally an easy affair, characters like Duke take considerably more effort, so I saved this last bit of work for last. And now, I am done fiddling with him for... a while, at least?
September 8th, 2017: now that I'm up to the powers that begin with 'U', the anticipation of completing all this work on the Powers document(s) is growing overwhelming. Nonetheless, I took the time to properly proofread Universal Digestion, Universal Respiration, Universal Static, Universal Windows, and Unusual Sensitivity, which is half of the 'U' powers!
September 7th, 2017: with the other two versions of Duke sorted out, I have built a 4C System: Edition 13 variation on the man. Once I was done with the 'original' version of Duke, I added a conversion of all his Condensed information to account for the other thirty action figures of his I'm covering, and now he's pretty much sorted out.
September 6th, 2017: picking up where I left off on the revitalization of all four variations on the Powers document, I revised my text for Turnabout and Twinning, thus finishing all the powers that begin with the letter 'T'! I then continued on, cleaning up the text on Ultimate Power, Ultimate Talent (Skill), and Ultravision. Pretty good haul, if you ask me!
September 5th, 2017: with the original, Universal Heroes of Duke all sorted out, it's time I turn my attention to his Saga variation. I Condensed all of the extant data I had for every action figure into his sole remaining Saga entry, and then converted all the new stuff I dug up back on the 1st over from his Universal Heroes variant to keep him current.
Septmeber 4th, 2017: once more pounding away at the powers what start with the letter 'T', I have overhauled my extant descriptions of Transient Psionics, Transient Universe, Translation, Transmutation, and Transparent Vision. Most of these were all right, my fidgeting aside, save for Transmutation, which I have altered a lot - for the better, I think.
September 3rd, 2017: on the plus side, I have found that a lot of the Duke figures released were for continuities that weren't related to the Real American Hero line. Thus, I 'only' had to add details of thirty additional action figures to my now Condensed, Universal Heroes description of Duke. Still, I think my brains ran out my ears. Er, again.
September 2nd, 2017: resuming work on the Powers document(s), I have revised what I'd written for Transduction, Transfixture, Transformation / Others, Transformation / Self, and Transient Magic. Mind you, I removed Transfixture from the Saga System 13 rules; like Damage Reduction, it ultimately just didn't fit - no matter how hard I tried to make it do so.
September 1st, 2017: did you know? There have been exactly fifty more Duke figures released after his original, 1984 incarnation. Fifty! Thus, I spent the day doing a lot of research on the man's many plastic descendents. Over the next few GI Joe update days, I'll be filtering the data gleaned from this research into his Condensed entries.
August 31st, 2017: burning away my many breaks at work, having several over the course of my twelve hour shifts, I have completed another round of upgrades to the grammar, spelling, and inclusivity of all four Powers document(s), namely by tidying up what I'd written for Time Control, Time Travel, Topological Control, Trace Duplication, and Transception.
August 30th, 2017: one of the six characters I have dreaded working on in my revitalization of my GI Joe reference, Duke has taunted me since I began work on the 1984 Joe roster. Nonetheless, I put on my copy of Magic Sword's first album for creative courage, and overhauled the extensive entries I've built for his 1984 action figure.
August 29th, 2017: this time around, I've cleaned up a big pile of powers related to divine beings - that's right, today's a theme update! They include Theonic Absorption, Theonic Amplification, Theonic Attenuation, Theonic Invisibility, and Theonic Sense. And, finally, I am all out of Attenuation powers that require a complete rebuild from the ground up.
August 28th, 2017: for some reason that defies logic, I had one heck of a hard time Condensing my Deep Six character descriptions. I'm really not sure why, but it drug on and on, despite there not really being all that much new material I had to add to get his three variations current. But, at least he's all done now. That's something, isn't it?
August 27th, 2017: once more pounding away at the fine tuning of the Powers document(s), I have refined all four variations on Tentacles, Thaumaturgical Absorption, Thaumaturgical Vampirism, Thaumaturgy, and skipping ahead just a tad, Thought Projection. Said skipping was for purposes to be revealed on the 29th. Ooh, the suspense, right?!
August 26th, 2017: getting back to the 1984 GI Joes, instead of poking around in the rosters of other years, I have cleaned up my original versions of Deep Six. I've made him more search engine friendly, cleaned up his grammar a tad, upgraded his text to fit modern standards, and then produced his 4C System: Edition 13 variation. Woo!
August 25th, 2017: because I would really like to finish my custom rules work before I die, I am continuing to pound away at the overhaul of the Powers document(s). Thus, I have cleaned up all four versions of Teleportation / Others, Telescopic Vision, Temperature Control, Temporal Static, and Temporal Windows today. Progress, we continue to make it!
August 24th, 2017: distraction! While randomly browsing through portions of my Master Roster, I found that the Copyright Infringer's description was outdated. There's no way he wouldn't have the latest iterations of the hardware he uses to commit his many computer crimes, after all! So, I went and tidied his entries up just a tad, and he's all good now.
August 23rd, 2017: I just went over three of the most important powers in the game, along with two others of course, and revised all four variations on them in the Powers document(s). These abilities included Teleformation, Telekinesis, Telepathy, Teleport Trigger, and Teleportation, of which the Saga System 13 versions in particular have been improved!
August 22nd, 2017: detour! I was finishing up some hosting details related to the '84 updates I'd done so far, and my wandering attention brought me to the 1990 GI Joe stuff I'd Condensed and updated thus far. Seeing some bits I'd forgotten, I further refined my work on Ambush, Bullhorn, and Captain Grid-Iron, getting them more or less modernized once more.
August 21st, 2017: in order to finally align the Powers document(s) with my modern sensibilities, I have cleaned up Swirl, Sympathetic Magic, and Synchronicity. That completes all the powers that start with the letter 'S', leaving only five more letters to go! Continuing on, I then overhauled Technical Intuition and Technological Sense for good measure.
August 20th, 2017: I have taken care of Cutter, one of my all-time favorite Joes, but I hadn't updated his ride yet. Feeling the need to correct that, I've overhauled my extant descriptions of the Killer WHALE, and of course its repaint, the Night Striker. I even gave it a 4C System: Edition 13 variation, for good measure, and Condensed it!
August 19th, 2017: before I begin the penultimate block of grammar tweaks, Pronoun Problem excision, and general improvements on the Powers document(s), I figured I should wrap up a loose end first. Thus, I have done the first round of proofreading (that which I have done for everything else before starting my current work) on Group Link, Guise, and Infusion.
August 18th, 2017: now that I've got every version of the original Cutter all cleaned up, it's time to perform the Condensation on his subsequent action figure descriptions! I have mashed his '92, '93, '01, and '08 figure details into the end of his main entry as subsequent version information, so now all of his story can be told on a single page.
August 17th, 2017: hey everybody, we've hit an eighty percent completion rate on the overhaul of the Universal Heroes, 4C System: Edition 13, Saga System 13, and
FNORD variations on the Powers document! Overall, this block of proofreading, spellchecking, and grammar / Pronoun Problem fixing has seen 174 pages, or 82578 words of text ovehauled. Whew!
August 16th, 2017: vaguely continuing a nautical theme I've begun a few Joe updates back, I have cleaned up the classical, 1984 version of Cutter. One of my favorite Joes, I think I covered this fellow first. His grammar is all top notch, now, and I've even produced a 4C System: Edition 13 variation of the man for your gaming pleasure. Enjoy!
August 15th, 2017: I completely ran out of super powers to fix in the Powers document(s). Well, I have more powers, but I'm out of powers that begin with 'super', as I've sorted out Super Speed, Super Swimming, Super Synesthesia, Super Tracking, and Super Vampirism. Which also means we're almost out of powers that begin with the letter 'S'!
August 14th, 2017: switching gears a tad to mix things up, I have modernized my description of the MANTA. I love this curious, weaponized windsail, and actually managed to get my hands on one before I quit collecting GI Joe stuff. They only made the '84 version of it, so all it needed was a proofreading, and a 4C System: Edition 13 variation.
August 13th, 2017: continuing a super block of super powers in my overhaul of the Powers document(s), I cleaned up Super Flight, Super Invention, Super Jumping, Super Running, and Super Senses, the latter of which was a considerable fix. Also, I removed a constraint from Solid Animation, because, well, an epiphany told me that it didn't really make sense.
August 12th, 2017: though it's kind of a pain doing research on GI Joes on my laptop during breaks at work, I have nonetheless done so with Blowtorch, and have uncovered all the details on his subsequent, post-1984 action figures. Thus, I have Condensed all of his material into each version of his original description, rendering him up to date at last.
August 11th, 2017: and now, we begin our transition from relatively spooky, spectral powers, to those that are truly super in scope. Today's overhaul of all four variations on the Powers document has seen me cleaning up the text I'd previously written for Static Shield, Summoning, Super Breath, Super Climbing, and Super Digging. And Summoning, well, that was quite the bear.
August 10th, 2017: ramping up to begin another big block of character work, I have modernized the character description of 1984's GI Joe flamethrower expert, Blowtorch! I smoothed out a lot of rough edges in my oldey timey grammar for both extant versions of the guy, and built out his 4C System: Edition 13 variation as well!
August 9th, 2017: as promised but two days ago, we have a couple more powers to fine tune today that feature spooky subject matter. These include Spectral Vampirism, Spell Control, Spiritual Link, Stasis, and Static Field. Naturally, the first and third of these were abilities were particularly rough in the fixing, but at least they're all sitting pretty now.
August 8th, 2017: Being that I'm all done with the 1983 Cobra character and equipment descriptions (once again), I have rebuilt the zip file archive of this year to properly showcase all of these upgraded gaming materials. Head on over and download the entire '83 Cobra roster if you want, all with just one click! Well, two, I suppose, but nyah! Do eet!
August 7th, 2017: it's too bad that today isn't Halloween, for I have tripped over a nest of powers in the Powers document(s) overhaul that revolve around spooky matters! These five powers include Spectral Fire Control, Spectral Fire Generation, Spectral Freedom, Spectral Gestalt, and Spectral Sense. And hey, there's a few more coming at you on the 9th!
August 6th, 2017: finally having a properly researched base to work from, and material readily available to convert into their rules, I have produced the Condensed versions of the Saga System 13 and 4C System: Edition 13 HISS descriptions. Note that a lot of these have not previously been covered here at the 13, like the Mark 2, 4, and 5 High Speed Sentries!
August 5th, 2017: resuming work on the powers that begin with the letter 'S', I thus continue my massive overhal of the four Powers documents! Today, I have rehabilitated my entries for Sorcerous Invisibility, Soul Control, Sound Control, Sound Generation, and Space Control, and removed the utterly redundant and obsolete Sorcerous Literacy spell. Yay, progress!
August 4th, 2017: in the process of filling in the blanks on the many, many variants on the original Cobra HISS, I discovered even more that I missed on the 2nd. Though it took me a very, very long time, I have completed the details on sixteen different years of High Speed Sentries - some of which had more than one per year - for the Universal Heroes entry.
August 3rd, 2017: taking a break from the onslaught of powers that begin with the letter 'S', I am instead writing more of the abilities required to complete the Powers document(s) once the grammar problems and Pronoun Problem are resolved. Thus, I have crafted descriptions of Group Link, Guise, and Infusion. And now, the Book of Magic's spell roster is complete!
August 2nd, 2017: so the HISS apparently appeared in fifteen different years of GI Joe's history. Some were just straight repaints, while others received minor retooling. And a few, well, they are completely different animals entirely. But I have researched them all, and can now begin grinding away at the astounding number of variants on this theme.
August 1st, 2017: though last time was a bit of a pain, I persist in the overhaul of the four Powers documents I'm trying to refine here on the 13. Thus, today I cleaned up my text for Sleep, Solid Animation, Sonar Sense, Sorcerous Amplification, and Sorcerous Attenuation. Note that the last of these five required a complete rebuild, which also sucked.
July 31st, 2017: no longer having any ability to avoid it, I have begun my work on the overhaul of the High Speed Sentry, or HISS. The original, 1983 model has now been completely modernized, and I even added a 4C System: Edition 13 variation to the Universal Heroes and Saga System 13 entries. And now, now begins the hard part, where I add all twenty updates.
July 30th, 2017: this latest batch of work meant to perfect the Powers document(s) hurt my brain, for it included both of the shrinking powers - and they were in trouble. I believe I have cleaned up the many and various problems with Shrinking / Others and Shrinking / Self, as well as those in Sidestep, Signature Power, and Situational Adaptation.
July 29th, 2017: still avoiding working on the juggernaut of text that is the HISS, I have opted instead to write up the last undone portion of the 1983 Cobra personnel and equipment roster. This is, of course, the infamous Brain-wave Scanner, which is alluded to in several other Cobra descriptions, but is now detailed as best as I feel possible for your gaming use!
July 28th, 2017: on my third of many odysseys through the powers that begin with the letter 'S', in my effort to clean up all four variations on the Powers document once and for all, I have taken Sensory Link, Sensory Projection, Sensory Reception, Shape Change, and Shields to task. The latter needed no changes, of course, but the rest? Bleah!
July 27th, 2017: Condensation is the name of the game today. I have smooshed the descriptions of the Dreadnok Air Assault Gyro Copter, the Mark 2 FANG (previously uncovered), the Mark 3 FANG, the Missile Storm Copter, and the Tiger Storm Copter, all into my Mark 1 FANG entries. This is the ultimate benefit of Condensation: a lot less clutter on the 13!
July 26th, 2017: continuing my long trek through the powers that begin with the letter 'S', I applied my authorial hindsight to Self Control, Sending, Sensing, Sensory Attenuation, and Sensory Distortion this time around. Every one of these, save for Sensing, needed a lot of overhaulin'. And Sensing only escaped due to it having been rewritten recently!
July 25th, 2017: still avoiding working on the HISS, I am instead doing the modernization work on the FANG. I guess I'm still making progress, at least? Either way, the original, 1983 model of of this ultra-light assault helicopter is now cleaned up. I added details about communications gear, not to mention the Negator bomb, which I missed last time. Sigh.
July 24th, 2017: I can't avoid it any longer, so I guess I should get back on the proofreading and revisions to the Powers document(s). Beginning my vast work on the powers that begin with the letter 'S', I've sorted out the grammar and Pronoun Problems on the powers of Sanctuary, Schema, Screened Senses, Scrying, and Self-Cannibalization. Only fifty-ish more to go!
July 23rd, 2017: since Billy's history is all done, I've taken the notes I made in reading an inordinate amount of GI Joe comics over the last couple of days, and have fleshed out the rest of his character description. All three versions of it, in fact! So if you've been waiting for my take on this character, like for a decade or so, here's the payoff to that.
July 22nd, 2017: what do you know, we've hit the seventy percent mark on our overall progress in the overhaul of all four variations on my Powers documents! We've now refined every bit of extant text through the letter 'R', and this latest burst of work on these documents consists of a grand total of 184 pages - or 85809 distinct words - of text. Huzzah!
July 21st, 2017: armed with a comprehensive review of Billy's history, I wrote that portion of his character description out. And, as you can see, I made use of the historical divergence bit there for the first time, properly detailing Billy's unfortunate fate in both the IDW comics and the Devil's Due comics. He dies within every comic series he makes an appearance.
July 20th, 2017: I figured it was high time I give those three new powers I added a bit back a second proofreading - just to be sure I hadn't done anything silly. Thus, I have glossed over Degeneration, Harm, and Roulette once more, and fixed up Harm a tad more. So now, I am through every power that begins with the letter 'R'. Only six letters to go now. Woo!
July 19th, 2017: you know that I'm dreading working on a piece of equipment when I prefer to research an all new character description, instead. And that's what I'm doing with Cobra Commander's only known son, Billy. Sure, most of this involves reading my older GI Joe comics and some of the more recent trade paperbacks, but I assure you that I'm taking notes.
July 18th, 2017: death! All of the powers I have proofread today involve death! For all four variations on the Powers document, I have overhauled my descriptions of Resurrection, Resuscitation, Retrospection, Revival, and Rotting. Sure, that last one is only tangentially related to the process of dying, but it does involve decomposition, so nyah. Death! Death, I say!
July 17th, 2017: strangely enough, there hasn't been a Major Bludd action figure since 2008, which means that I only had one to add to his Condensed character description: the 2006 convention exclusive, which I skipped previously. I've since had a change of heart on those, so I'm now plugging those into my GI Joe and Cobra entries. But he's all done now!
July 16th, 2017: the latest quintet of powers I have refurbished for the refurbishment of the Powers document(s) are half related, and half not. It's a grab bag of grab bags! Namely, I've sorted out Regenesis, Reincarnation, Repair, Reprise, and Resistance, all of which seemed to need just a tiny little bit of tweaking. Regenesis, for example, got a buff. Woo?
July 15th, 2017: I was going to Condense my descriptions of the HISS today, since I covered their driver a few days back, but there are apparently twenty different versions of that thing now! So yeah, no. Instead, I've gone through and modernized what I had written for Major Bludd, in his 1983 description. I even added a new weapon I'd missed, and his 4C System variation.
July 14th, 2017: this latest batch of power revisions have a central theme, the first notwithstanding. This is because, today, I have overhauled the extant descriptions of Redolence, Reformation, Regeneration / Others, Regeneration / Self, and Regenerative Armor. I do like when the powers I touch up are all related, as it lets me error check myself even more.
July 13th, 2017: while it took a whole lot longer than I expected, I have Condensed the HISS Drivers' character descriptions into one document for each game that covers their existence. I had no idea that they'd been churning out versions of these villains well past my initial coverage of them back in the day, much less one in neon orange - which is my favorite!
July 12th, 2017: unlike last time around, this latest batch of power revisions have no central theme, really. They consist of the powers known as Razor Skin, Reanimation, Reassembly, Reassignment, and Recovery. Also, I have refined bits of the Reassignment power to give it a bit more variety, not to mention more utility for the Saga System 13 variation of such. Bonus?
July 11th, 2017: resuming work on the humans that are inherent to Cobra's 1983 operation, I have cleaned up my existing text for the HISS Drivers, those elite vehicular combatants placed in charge of the HISS tanks. The usual streamlining was involved here, cleaning up some bad grammar and terminology, as well as the crafting of their 4C System variation.
July 10th, 2017: today's power description rehabilitations are all highly energetic. They include Radiation Control, Radiation Generation, Radio Wave Control, Radio Wave Generation, and Radivision. You just might need a Geiger counter to make your way through all of those revised powers, though thankfully their errant grammar and Pronoun Problems have been excised!
July 9th, 2017: continuing on in my effort to modernize my GI Joe reference, I have cleaned up what I have previously written for Scar-face, the one Cobra Officer who's received his own code name thus far - barring some Devil's Due silliness. He didn't really need Condensing, save for his duplicate entry in the 2008 roster, so he's all hunky dory now. Yay!
July 8th, 2017: resuming the work of the ages, I cleaned up my text for Purge, which finished the powers that begin with the letter 'P'! I then cleaned up my text for Quarantine, Quills, and Quintessential Variation, which finished the powers that begin with the letter 'Q'. Finally, I cleaned up my text for the Radar Sense ability. A nice end to this Technoholic month, eh?
July 7th, 2017: mixing it up just a tad, after having completed my work on Doctor Venom, I thought I would clean up what was, at least in the comics, one of his creations. This was the SNAKE armor, and no I don't know the proper name of it off the top of my head, which has now been Condensed into just one entry for each version, of which there are now three!
July 6th, 2017: since I seem to have finally sorted out the three different attenuation powers that I have worked on so far, I have resumed work on our regularly scheduled Powers document(s) rehabilitation. Thus, today I have cleaned up my extant text for Psychic Invisibility, Psychic Probe, Psychokinesis, Psychometry, and Psychoplasm Animation. Whew.
July 5th, 2017: I thought I might have to build a whole separate description of the giant, man-eating plants that Doctor Venom was cooking up in his 2010 appearance in the GI Joe action figure line, but as it turns out I just had to add it as 'equipment'. That and a major tweak to his history means that I've got this dastardly villain all done up for you now!
July 4th, 2017: as it so happens, I suffered a catastrophic file sync error between my desktop computer, my laptop computer, and the 13's host. Cursed migraine! This caused me to hash up all of my work on Attenuation, Power Attenuation, and Psionic Attenuation, so I have spent an inordinate amount of time getting all four versions of these three powers working again.
July 3rd, 2017: continuing on in the 1983 Cobra roster, I have cleaned up what I wrote for Doctor Venom. I do believe I wrote his description not too long ago, as it was missing a lot of hijinks that earlier Joe and Cobra descriptions had, but there were a few. I also added his 4C System: Edition 13 variant, but haven't included his 2010 material yet. Not sure how?
July 2nd, 2017: it's like today was the lottery, where sucky psionic power revisions are concerned. I have cleaned up the grammar and the Pronoun Problem in Psionic Absorption, Psionic Amplification, Psionic Attenuation, Psionic Control, and Psionic Vampirism. The Attenuation and the Vampirism were particuarly troublesome, though I think the former of those two needs more work.
July 1st, 2017: though my brain is oozing out my ears, unfortunately liquefied after all the work I've done on him so far, I have wrapped up my three descriptions of Destro today. All of his variations (Universal Heroes, 4C System: Edition 13, and Saga System 13) are now complete through 2014, which is the last time he received a figure, as far as I know.
June 30th, 2017: shifting gears, it looks like we're wandering into a mammoth block of psionic powers here on the refit of (all four variations of) the Powers document. That is why today's rehabilitation work has seen me excising crap grammar and the Pronoun Problem from Proxy, Psi Bolt, Psi Sense, Psi Web, and Psion Generation. That's the first of three such blocks!
June 29th, 2017: though I hadn't Expanded the 1983 Destro entry for some reason, I nonetheless built out all his Condensed versions through 2008. This made adding in the details of all his figures through 2014 a bit easier, at least. Thus, I have done just that on Destro's original, Universal Heroes character description, and just need to convert that to the other two.
June 28th, 2017: I'm all done fixing the powers for my Powers document(s) that are used to affect other peoples' powers, so I am moving on to powers that start with 'prehensile'! Thus, I have taken time out of my busy work schedule today, in order to rehabilitate what I've got written for Prehensile Hair, Prehensile Skin, Prehensile Tail, Preincarnation, and Propulsion.
June 27th, 2017: when beginning work on the modernization of 1983's Destro, I saw why I Expanded my GI Joe Handbook entries in the first place - I'd apparently forgotten to do so with this villain. Thus, I walked into a train wreck that needed straightening out, which I did. I even added a 4C System: Edition 13 variation on Destro for your gaming pleasure, as well.
June 26th, 2017: having (I hope) sorted out attenuation and power attenuation, I can finish work on powers for the Powers document(s) that involve manipulating powers! These include Power Control, Power Dampening (which doesn't affect powers, but energy), Power Duplication, Power Transfer, and Precognition - which doesn't affect powers, but is quite powerful!
June 25th, 2017: with the Joes from 1983 being all Condensed and modernized, I guess I should start in on the Cobras from that year, huh? And this is precisely what I did today, even if I started with the low hanging fruit, so to speak. In other words, I sorted out the Viper Glider Pilots this time around, a group of guys and gals who didn't actually need Condensing.
June 24th, 2017: before moving on to additional powers, I took the time to overhaul what I had for Power Attenuation, since I wanted it to work more on a Column Shift basis than rank numbers. Once I did that, though, I found out that I described the workings of plain old Attenuation wrong, so I had to go back and fix it up as well. And then make these changes on all versions of each.
June 23rd, 2017: Hey! I have made shiny all of the GI Joe personnel and materials from 1983! Thus, I have replaced the old zip file archive of these people and thing with a new one, which includes the 4C System: Edition 13 variations of such that were not present before. This, naturally, means that I can start up on the 1983 Cobra folks and stuff any day now. Woo!
June 22nd, 2017: on every version of the Powers document, I went through and cleaned up various powers that can be used to manipulate the powers of others. These powers include Power Absorption, Power Amplification, Power Attenuation, Power Block, and Power Boost. That's a whole lot of powers used to gain power over other powers, but oddly enough there are more such powers!
June 21st, 2017: performing the Condensation on the Wolverine was a bit tricky, because its second version was essentially a second version of both it and the MBT Mauler. I'm not sure how I'm going to handle the redirecting on the latter vehicle, but that's a problem for the 1985 roster. Either way, I've plugged data from the Lynx into the Wolverine's original descriptions. Yay!
June 20th, 2017: having reached the sixty percent point in my overhaul of all four variations on the Powers document, I paused to run recent changes through Word ™, in order to catch errors I missed and/or accidentally inserted. And Word ™ is getting a bit too neurotic for its own good. Anyway, overall progress this time around: 161 pages of text, or 73,768 words. Huzzah!
June 19th, 2017: reaching the end of my work to (again) clean up the 1983 GI Joe roster, I have rehabilitated what I had written for the Wolverine. The text for this thing was pretty solid, though I may have overrated the sheer defensive capability of the thing a tad, so I dialed that back some. And then, as I am wont to do, I have added the 4C System: Edition 13 version of this ride.
June 18th, 2017: well then, it seems like it's time to get going on the Pronoun Problem and other assorted issues in all four versions of my Powers document. Anyway, I've gone and cleaned up my descriptions of Portal, Positron Generation, Possession, Postcognition, and Pouches this time around, and each has been heavily reworded and/or rearranged for flow. Busy day today. Sigh.
June 17th, 2017: since it was a relatively small item, I did both the modernization and the Condensation of the Whirlwind Twin Battle Gun today. The 2004 reissue of this towable weapon system seems functionally identical, save for a slightly less dark shade of Army green paint, so I didn't see the need to complete this work over the course of two days. Which means 1983's almost done!
June 16th, 2017: pray tell, it's time to primp a plethora of powers beginning with the letter 'P'! In this latest installment of improvements to all four variations on the Powers document, I have cleansed Plasticity, Platforming, Plenipotentiary, Poison, and Polarization of their Pronoun Problem, and have seriously tweaked the grammar on all four, to make them read better.
June 15th, 2017: it's a good time to be a GI Joe collector. If I were still throwing money at the hobby, given enough money to actually do so, I would have snatched up the complete remakes of the Skystrikers that came out over the last few years. You can see details of these, and other Skystriker clones, listed on its character descriptions, now that I have Condensed them!
June 14th, 2017: in case everything seems viridescent today, that might be because the powers I've worked on for the Powers document today all have something of a floral theme - well, except for the last one, I guess. The latest powers to be rehabilitated include Plant Control, Plant Hybridization / Self, Plant Hybridization / Others, Plant Sympathy, and Plasma Generation. Mmm, planty.
June 13th, 2017: the Skystriker is one of the GI Joe team's most iconic vehicles. A modified F-14, it readily stands out amongst everything the Joes have fielded. As such, I took great care in cleaning up the text I had to describe this aerial beast, and then gave it the usual, 4C System: Edition 13 variation on top of that. I'm quite happy with this thing once more, so check it out!
June 12th, 2017: resuming work on the Powers document, all four versions of such, I have modernized five more powers that start with the letter 'P'. These were Pheromones, Philosophical Sense, Phobia, Pishogue, and Planar Control. I also removed Philosophical Aura, since it's sort of been absorbed entirely into the Aura power, and was rendered redundant upon the latter's creation.
June 11th, 2017: today, we clean up some robots - or, more accurately, some Joe-bots! That's right, I have tweaked what I had written for the PAC/RATs - you know, GI Joe's Programmed Attack Computer Rapid All Terrain units. All three of them, in fact. And then, once that was done, I built their 4C System: Edition 13 variations. Which wraps up my work on these quirky little things!
June 10th, 2017: ah, another day, another group of powers to refine for all four versions of the Powers document. Now that I am working on the powers that begin with the letter 'P', I have taken it upon myself to rehabilitate Pain, Paralysis, Passing, Personal Static, and Personal Weaponry. Strangely, three of these seemed to be working just fine, and needed no tweaking.
June 9th, 2017: what with me being done with the original version of the Polar Battle Bear, I added in some additional details to my extant entry for the thing. This is because the 2002 Rock Slide was basically the same old vehicle, save for a giant missile launcher having been welded into the original's passenger space. And a new paint job, I guess. But now this one's current!
June 8th, 2017: banging my head against the vast overhaul of all four variations on the Powers document, I have crossed another major boundary today. Having cleaned up the grammar problems and Pronoun Problems in Organism Generation, Organs, Origin Sense, Overdrive, and Override, I have finished my work on all the powers that start with the letter 'O'!
June 7th, 2017: it seems I'm quickly breezing through the 1983 devices roster, which is a good thing. After all, once I'm done with these, I can get going on the 1983 Cobra stuff - and maybe build a new character or two! At any rate, today I cleaned up my extant work for the Polar Battle Bear, and then gave it the 4C System: Edition 13 treatment. Gotta love it!
June 6th, 2017: what do you know, we're working on powers that begin with the letter 'O'! There's no overriding theme to those powers which I have rehabilitated for use in all four verisons of the Powers document, but I have nonetheless fixed up Omnipresence, Omniscience, Opposition, Optimization, and Organic Circuitry. Well, I guess they're all pretty godlike, but eh.
June 5th, 2017: Yo Joe! While not one of my standard 'devices' entries, the Headquarters Command Centers are a mainstay of the GI Joe toy line, comic book, and cartoon, in one way or another. Thus, I made it a point to streamline my text for this huge thing, and then build it a 4C System: Edition 13 variation. Luckily, Condensation is not required for this huge thing.
June 4th, 2017: continuing my attack on the powers that begin with the letter 'O', I have reached the halfway point on these ascendant abilities. This has entailed wrapping up the object powers, which include Object Sympathy, Object Warming, and Object Weakening, and then two other handy abilities, which were Offensive Portals and Omnipotence. Only ten more to go!
June 3rd, 2017: picking up where I left off on my refit of the 1983 GI Joe roster, I have dusted off and sorted out the extant text I had for the team's Falcon glider. I then built the 4C System: Edition 13 variation on that theme, and then linked the '83 Cobra glider back over to this one, since they were essentially the same, save for the camoflage colors and team logos.
June 2nd, 2017: having finished all the 'N' powers, it's time I get going on the next portion of the alphabet, huh? Today, I focus exclusively on powers used to manipulate objects, for good or ill. These include Object Animation, Object Charge, Object Cooling, Object Hardening, and Object Projection. It's nice when a day's work all fits within a common theme, isn't it?
June 1st, 2017: with the basic, 1983 version of the Dragonfly kitted out, in all three gaming variations that the 13 requires, I did the usual research to make sure that I covered all the details on every subsequent version of the the thing. Thus, I added in bits about the Tiger Fly (1988 re-release) and the Locust 2 (2000 re-release), and I think we're all golden here now.
May 31st, 2017: I started my work on the powers that begin with the letter 'N' for my overhaul of the Powers document(s), rehabilitating Nanotechnology Generation, Nativity Sense (which I totally rebuilt), Nature Control, Nature Resistance, and Nonapparent Vision. Which, I guess, means that I also finished my work on the powes that begin with the letter 'N'.
May 30th, 2017: with the APC all done, I am moving on to the Dragonfly, one of the GI Joe team's mainstays during its 1983 calendar year - and far, far beyond that, as well. Most of what I had for this vehicle was in working order, so I went ahead and built out the 4C System: Edition 13 variation on this theme. It's nice to see this roster coming along so nicely, isn't it?
May 29th, 2017: a neurotic wreck, I felt the need to finish out my work on the Powers document(s) regarding the powers that start with the letter 'M', so I actually did six of them today! That's right, Mind Wipe, Missile Generation, Mood Swings, Mortal Guise, Motivity, and Mystic Servant have been rehabilitated - and I removed the obsolete 'Move' spell, too!
May 28th, 2017: as I always do once I've sorted out the original version of something GI Joe, I researched it to ensure that I covered every subsequent iteration of it as well. Thus, I added all the later versions of the APC to its '83 description, with notes as to what was different. I also added in headlights to this vehicle, since I didn't feature them before for some reason. Eh.
May 27th, 2017: having added three powers after my last round of proofreading, I figured I should probably go ahead and fine tune those as well, having reached this point in my latest round of such. Thus, I have gone over all four versions of Degeneration, Harm, and Roulette with a fine-toothed comb, and they were pretty solid - only Harm needed a bit of rephrasing.
May 26th, 2017: so I'm done modernizing and Condensing all the humans from the 1983 GI Joe roster. That leaves their impressive arsenal of vehicles from this year! I have begun my work on them by hitting the very first of the bunch: the Armored Personnel Carrier! I've cleaned up the text I had for this thing, and naturally built it a 4C System: Edition 13 variation.
May 25th, 2017: well then. Since I've knocked off another ten percent of the total overhaul necessary for all four variations on the Powers document, it seemed as good a time as any to do another round of spell checking and such in Word ™. Relevant statistics this time around: I have rehabilitated a total of 182 pages of text, or, more specifically, 82,445 words of text. Woof.
May 24th, 2017: what with his 1983 action figure having been covered in considerable detail, I have expanded my description of Wild Bill's original character entry to cover all of his subsequent iterations. And over the years, the man has operated a very large array of vehicles, let me tell you. Luckily, he sticks with his six shooters for the most part, save for a few odd years.
May 23rd, 2017: against the powers that start with the letter 'M' I strive, hoping to cleanse them of the Pronoun Problem, as well as crummy grammatical errors! Thus, I have most recently sorted out Mind Duplication, Mind Link, Mind Lock, Mind Transfer, and Mind Walk, which is another huge block of psionic powers, but eh. At least progress continues to be made, right?
May 22nd, 2017: so I have sorted out ever other human being that was a part of the 1983 GI Joe roster, save for Wild Bill. This should tell you that I felt it necessary to clean up his 1983 character description today, right? If not, well, that's what I did. Heck, I even threw in his 4C System: Edition variation - for free, no less! That's us, giving you service with a smile.
May 21st, 2017: pounding away relentlessly at the four different versions of the Powers document, I have crossed the Rubicon, and am now halfway done with the powers that begin with the letter 'M'! This is because I tweaked the grammar of, and excised the Pronoun Problem, from Mesmermechanism, Metabolic Focus, Microscopic Vision, Mimicry, and Mind Control!
May 20th, 2017: since I've cleaned up what I had for Tripwire, and added a 4C System: Edition 13 variation for him, I have to wrap up work on that fellow by performing the Condensation work on him. As every action figure he received since 2001 was either for the movie line or made as an homage, this didn't take too long, either. So now Tripwire is ready go to. Er, again.
May 19th, 2017: continuing my work on the portion of the various iterations of the Powers document's abilities that begin with the letter 'M', I have hit a wall of primarily psionic powers. These include Mental Doubles, Mental Invisibility, Mental Repair, Mental Trap, and Mesmerism! This quintet of mental abilites are now nice and polished, thank you very much!
May 18th, 2017: what with me being all done with my refinement and Condensation of Torpedo, I thought I would begin this effort on Tripwire. Luckily for me, Tripwire's character description wasn't in bad shape, so this took a couple hours less work while I was trundling away on the clock. But, now Tripwire's 1983 description is all ship shape once more.
May 17th, 2017: work to sort out the powers that begin with the letter 'M' continues here at Technohol 13, and I have rehabilitated the abilities of Masking, Matter Absorption, Matter Duplication, Matter Generation, and Mechanical Disruption. These powers have seen their grammar tweaked, their Pronoun Problems excised, and I am quite happy with them now!
May 16th, 2017: it sort of took me a lot longer than I anticipated this time as well, but I have Condensed my character description of Torpedo for the 1983 GI Joe roster. I haven't quite cleared out his latter-year duplicates yet, since that's something I'll have to do from home, but I have a completely current version of the man in his '83 roster entry. Yay!
May 15st, 2017: I've begun work on a new section of the Powers documents' rehabilitation, namely concerning powers that begin with the letter 'M'! A magical and magnetic roster of ascendant abilities, my efforts to clean up the grammar and cleanse the Pronoun Problem saw me overhauling Macro Sense, Magic Magnet, Magic Sense, Magnetism Control, and Magnetism Generation!
May 14th, 2017: keeping up with my work to fine tune the 1983 GI Joe roster, I have cleaned up my extant material for that year's Torpedo action figure. I modernized what I had for the man thus far, and then built him a 4C System: Edition 13 variation as well. This was my first such effort at work, so it took a bit longer than I would have liked. But eh.
May 13th, 2017: slowly creeping towards the halfway point in my massive overhaul of the Powers document(s), I have rehabilitated five more powers today. They include Loathing, Locational Memory, Locational Sense, Longevity, and Luck. And, as luck would have it, this completely wraps up the roster of powers that begin with the letter 'L'. Excellent!
May 12th, 2017: as I'd cleaned up Snow Job's 1983 character descriptions, I did a bit of research to see how many new figures, if any, he'd received. After that, I incorporated the pertinent data from all of his post-1983 action figures into their descriptions, in order to properly Condense what I had available for him, and now what I've got for the man is golden. Golden, I say!
May 11th, 2017: persisting in my effort to clear the Powers document of the Pronoun Problem, awful grammar, and any weird glitches in translation and/or common sense, I have worked over the powers of Life Ray, Light Control, Light Generation, Linguistics, and Link, which means I've only got five more powers to go that start with the letter 'L'!
May 10th, 2017: so I apparently built a 4C System: Edition 13 variation of Snow Job already, but I hadn't actually modernized all three variations on his character description. Not sure how that worked back when I did it, but eh. I fixed that shortcoming in his coverage today, namely by modernizing all three of them! On the plus side, this involved less work overall, so there's that.
May 9th, 2017: rounding out the collection of powers that begin with the letter 'K', I have purged the power of Knowledge from any instances of the Pronoun Problem and/or grammar issues. I thus turned my attention to the powers what begin with the letter 'L', beginning with work on Layered Shield, Learned Invulnerability, Levitation, and Lie Detection. Ah, progress.
May 8th, 2017: I took time out today to finish my Condensation of Gung-Ho's character descriptions. I added details of every action figure he received after 1983 to their 4C System: Edition 13 variation, and then produced updated text file downloadables for all three versions of him I'm currently hosting. So now the single most hairy character from the '83 Joe roster is done. Yay!
May 7th, 2017: today I completed work on the powers that begin with the letter 'J', namely by cleaning up my work on Jury Rigging. Thus, I began to clean up the grammar and pronoun problems inherent to the powers that begin with the letter 'K', including Kinetic Absorption, Kinetic Energy Control, Kinetic Focus, and Kit-bashing. That's a rather kinetic line-up, eh?
May 6th, 2017: picking up where I left off on Gung-Ho's character description overhaul, I researched him to account for all of his new figures, or convention-exclusive figures I previously ignored, and then poured the data from his other figures' Classic and Saga descriptions into their '83 entry. Which just leaves stuff for the 4C System variety of the guy, and text files!
May 5th, 2017: continuing the revision of all four versions of the Powers document, I wrapped up the 'I' powers by sorting out Invisibility / Self and Invulnerability. I then began work on the powers which start with the letter 'J', including Jelling, Jeopardy, and Jumbling. I apologize that I was apparently under the effects of this last power when I wrote its description.
May 4th, 2017: while last time's GI Joe Condensation work was easy, this time around things will be a bit trickier. That's because Gung-Ho has a whole lot of action figures. I have nonetheless cleaned up his 1983 action figure entries, and subsequently used them to build a 4C System: Edition 13 variation on a theme. I'll focus on his many, many other figures next time.
May 3rd, 2017: nearing completion on my overhaul of all the powers that begin with the letter 'I', I have cleaned up my extant text for Integral Control, Interfacing, Internal Universe, Investment, and Invisibility / Others. Strangely, the latter two were particularly rife with the Pronoun Problem, whilst only Investment was a serious pain where bad grammar was concerned.
May 2nd, 2017: doing yet more work on the Condensation of my GI Joe handbook character and equipment descriptions, I've done the work of modernizing my character description of Doc. Since the only figures he's had since his original, 1983 edition were homages of the original or for the movie tie-in line, all I had to do was tighten his text up and give him an Edition 13 variation!
May 1st, 2017: while writing some new tidbits was fun, it's time that I get back on the wagon, and continue pounding away at (all four variations of) the Powers document. Resuming my work on the powers that begin with the letter 'I' today, I have sorted out what I'd previously written for Infravision, Initiative Control, Inodoriferous, Inspiration, and Intangibility - the last of which being a major pain.
April 30th, 2017: what with my having cleaned up the text on all three versions of the original, 1983 Cover Girl, I did my due dilligence and added details from all the other Cover Girl action figures released since. Luckily, there were only two of these, one of which I'd already covered, so it didn't take too long for me to sort her out at long last. Firebomb likes it easy.
April 29th, 2017: because I'm apparently not busy enough with the Powers document as it is, I've gone and added some all new powers to the thing today! Mostly filling in the blanks in the Book of Magic's spell roster, though they do apply to other portions of the 13's rules as well, I've punched in Degeneration, Harm, and Roulette today. I think that's half of what the Book needs!
April 28th, 2017: returning to my Condensing work on the 1983 GI Joe roster, I have cleaned up everything I had for that year's variation on Cover Girl action figures. Well, figure, but still. I have modernized the text for her to match up with how I build character descriptions now, and have even constructed a 4C System: Edition 13 version of her, for those of you who use that game.
April 27th, 2017: having completed another ten percent of my mammoth work of the ages, the overhaul of all four versions of the staggeringly large Powers document, I ran my recent work through Microsoft ® Word ™ once more. I fixed the few spelling errors I missed and/or introduced, and ultimately cleaned up 185 pages of text, or more specifically, 83,984 words. Flexxx
April 26th, 2017: on the plus side, where the original Airborne is concerned, he didn't have a dozen or so action figures released in his name. Sure, he had plenty, but all the new ones I hadn't covered were either live-action movie tie-in figures or an homage to their original ensemble. Thus, finishing the Condensation for him was quite easy, and only took me about ten minutes overall!
April 25th, 2017: once again pounding away at the powers what begin with the letter 'I', I have refined what I've previously written for Inanime, Inaudibility, Inculcation, Individual Shield, and Inferiority Complex. Their grammar has been tweaked, their Pronoun Problem has been resolved, and I think that Inferiority Complex has been reworded enough to make it sound less silly?
April 24th, 2017: I am trying to get back into the swing of my GI Joe Condensation work, but I keep forgetting little things I need to be updating. Thus, I had to fix a few little things for Ace, and then gave him a new talent for good measure. After that, I overhauled the extant versions of the first Airborne figure, and built him a 4C System: Edition 13 variation as well.
April 23rd, 2017: continuing my way through the powers that start with the letter 'I', I have cleaned up all four variations on the Image Animation, Image Projection, Imaginary Doubles, Imaginary Mass, and Immortality entries on my Powers document(s). Their grammar has been tweaked, the Pronoun Problem has been expunged, and I have refined Imaginary Doubles a bit. Just a tiny bit.
April 22nd, 2017: having done all the research I needed to fill out his character description through 2015, I have built a 4C System: Edition 13 variation of Ace. Mind you, I'd forgotten to overhaul his data to better match how I build character descriptions on the 13 now, so I had to go back and do that for all three versions of the guy, but at least he's modernized now?
April 21st, 2017: busy day here. Busy busy! I deleted Hyperlinguistics, since I think it turned into something else a while back, and then proofread History Control, Horns, and Hostility Screen. That wraps up the powers that begin with the letter 'H', but as I have two more to go in order to call this a complete Powers document kind of day, I also overhauled Ice Generation and Illusion Projection!
April 20th, 2017: resuming my work on the Condensation of the various entries in my GI Joe handbook, since I finally added enough to the 1982 Cobra roster to make me happy, I began work on Ace. I filled out all his various versions through 2015, and even added a blurb about his time fighting against the evil Inhumanoids in an alternate (read: animated) timeline. Yeah, he was Sabre Jet in that show!
April 19th, 2017: oho, it's time to work on the Powers document again! For this iteration of grammar and Pronoun Problem corrections, I have cleaned up Healing / Self, Heat Generation, Hellfire Control, and Hellfire Generation. Then, I partially sorted out the various instances of Hindrance Generation / Weakness Generation, though this power still needs a random weakness generation table. Beh.
April 18th, 2017: since I think I'm done with the 1982 Cobra roster once and for all, I ensured that I had updated all the pertinent characters through 2015 at least, and then produced the zip file archive for these villains and their equipment at long last. This finally frees me up to work on the condensation of GI Joe and Cobra materials from 1983, once I get around to it!
April 17th, 2017: hey, I've wrapped up my work on the Powers document for super human abilities that start with the letter 'G'! That's because I have cleaned up the grammar failures and Pronoun Problems in Growth / Others, Growth / Self, and Gyration! Of course, to round out this day of proofreading, I've also sorted out Hard Points and Healing / Others, as well. Ah, progress.
April 16th, 2017: so I think I have finally sorted out the 1982 Cobra roster once and for all. I've read through the first nine issues of the comic, which seemed to cover that period of time, and the only other object I found that seemed noteworthy enough to document for the 13 was the SEA (Surprise, Engage, and Attack) Legs. Because they're submersibles that are also giant walkers!
April 15th, 2017: I am once again pounding away at the Powers document, because I must! I deleted the Great Shield spell, since it has been rendered wholly obsolete by the addition of Force Field to the Book of Magic, and then overhauled Gliding, Glow, Gravity Control, Greater Invulnerability, and Greater Resistance. And now the 'G' powers are almost done!
April 14th, 2017: throwing myself at the GI Joe reference once more, I finally picked a highly obscure contraption to cover that was actually applicable to 1982! This implement, the Trojan robot, is an oversized and artificial combatant Cobra built in an effort to expose the GI Joe team's secret headquarters. It failed in its mission, albeit only barely - by mere seconds and inches!
April 13th, 2017: still pounding away at the various variations on the Powers document, because the thing simply isn't going to sort out its own awful grammar, not to mention the Pronoun Problem. Anyhow, today I fixed up Fuel, Fugue, and Future Control, thus wrapping up the 'F' powers, and then cleaned up Genesis and Glamour for good measure. Ha cha cha.
April 12th, 2017: the idea was to build up another object for the 1982 Cobra roster, but realistically speaking, this was more of an item from 1983. Sigh. Anyway, I've stapled together a description of the MASS Device, from the original animated GI Joe series, for your gaming pleasure. What can I say, they did eventually build a toy of this thing, after all.
April 11th, 2017: keeping my eye on the prize, I have continued work on the Powers document, in my effort to sharpen up its grammar and word flow, as well as to purge it of the Pronoun Problem that has apparently dogged my work since, uh, forever. Anyway, today's update saw me fixing up Force Field, Forensics, Forgetfulness, Fortuity, and Friction Control. Not bad, eh?
April 10th, 2017: well hey there! I made time today to produce another oddity from the roster of Cobra equipment that never actually had toys to go with them. Today's addition was the transport helicopter they used in the comics, which was based on the Sikorsky S-64 Skycrane, but this wound up being a thing from 1985, instead of 1982. But at least it's new, right?
April 9th, 2017: good gravy, we're a quarter of the way through 2017 already. Though I am apparently aging rapidly, I took time out of my insanely occupied schedule to do the same thing I do every time April 9th comes around, and have rolled the 13 over for its birthday. This actually didn't take me very long, but then again, I have done it enough to know how to speed it up. Heh.
I wouldn't just leave you with only that to chew on during this auspicious Technoholic date, though. No, I have also finally sorted out my description of the 1982 Cobra Missile Command Headquarters, a sort of cardboard cut-out base sold only in Sears stores during that year, heavily decorated with that weird, prototype technology style Marvel liked to use during that period of time.
Furthermore, I cleaned up yet another batch of powers on the Powers document, pushing its overall completeness to one third! It's slow going, I know, but at the very least I am finally doing something about that thing, which is a project for the ages. But, in case you're curious, I've cleaned up Flight, Fluid Animation, Flux, Flux Analysis, and Force Blast. Which makes us one third done, now!
Finally, I did a couple other things that I probably ought to do on a more regular basis. I breezed through the Atomic Links to see who has died since I last checked for MSH RPG resources online, and even added a new one. I also tweaked the Firebomb page, and saw that I apparently neglected to proofread the tiny document I made to describe myself. Embarrassing!
