Technoholic Formula Changes - Year 23!
April 8th, 2021: wrapping up my sixth round of (re)proofreading through all four variations on the Powers document, I'm now one-third of the way done with the work of the ages. Yay! I finished this effort by perusing the text for Flaying, Flight, Fluid Animation, and Flux, and I tinkered with all of their verbiage. I even 'buffed' a few of these for Saga System 13!
April 7th, 2021: I've perused all four variations on the text for the Fire Control, Fire Generation, Flake Armor, and Flaw Sense powers, and it was a mixed bag. The first two passes yielded little need for improvement, but the last two caused me to dramatically rewrite Fire Generation and Flaw Sense. They seem much better now, though, so there's that.
April 6th, 2021: after the last couple of power blocks, most of which seemingly had a theme, today's selection of revisions are a real grab bag. These (re)proofread powers include Familiar, Fangs, Fey Sense, and Finding. Most of them were just fine, but I found myself working over the text for each version of Familiar quite heavily. But then it's a big listing.
April 5th, 2021: at long last, I'm (again) wrapping up my work on powers what start with the letter 'E', as today's effort has seen me tweaking the text for Extend, Faerie Dust, Faith, and Fallout Absorption. I primarily made very minor adjustments to the verbiage on these abilities, but did 'buff' the System 13 and FNORD versions of the latter power.
April 4th, 2021: doing another power theme day here at the 13, to vaguely make sense in my head of what I'm doing with the (re)proofreading of the Powers documents. Currently cleaning up Environmental Adaptation, Environmental Independence, Environmental Pocket, and Environmental Sense today, even if my brain's starting to turn into jelly, just a little bit.
April 3rd, 2021: I skipped around ever so slightly in the 'E' power rosters today, working over Enlightenment, Essence Control, Evolution Control, and Exaltation. And unfortunately for me, at least, I kept finding more and more changes to make on each of these powers, until I'd drastically revised the verbiage in all four of these most tricksy of super powers.
April 2nd, 2021: while the rest of the Internet may betray you every year on this date, we here at the 13 refuse to do so! As such, I have completed my accidental focus on energy powers in the (re)proofread variations on my Powers documents, and sorted out the Energy Generation, Energy Projection, Energy Sense, and Energy Vampirism abilities. And they were good!
April 1st, 2021: starting my sixth of eighteen rounds through my Powers documents (re)proofreading, I've also started work on the first of two similarly-themed power sets. These energy-based abilities include Energy Absorption, Energy Cohesion, Energy Control, and Energy Doubles, and three out of these four abilities involved a staggering amount of revisions.
March 31st, 2021: as my penultimate upgrade to the 1993 GI Joe personnel and equipment roster, I've overhauled my descriptions of Long Arm today. He must have been a relatively recent addition to the 13, for upgrading him required little work. He has been Condensed, Modernized, Streamlined, and 4C Systemized, though, which leaves just one more Joe!
March 30th, 2021: the last vehicle I need to cover for the 1993 GI Joe roster is the final fighter plane the team's original incarnation developed. This hypersonic ride, the Ghostrider X-16, can cruise at Mach 5, but can achieve bursts twice as fast for short periods of time! I've Streamlined, Modernized, and 4C Systemized this sweet ride today!
March 29th, 2021: continuing my way through the short list of basic GI Joes operatives from 1993, I've sorted out my character descriptions of Mace. This undercover intelligence operative was supposed to be part of the DEF, but that sort of fell through for the guy. Either way, he's been Streamlined, Modernized, and given a 4C System: Edition 13 variant!
March 28th, 2021: the second to last vehicle description from the 1993 GI Joe roster I need to overhaul is the Mudbuster. This weaponized monster truck can demolish the enemy both at a distance and while bumper-to-bumper! This thing's verbiage has been Modernized and Streamlined, and I've built its 4C System: Edition 13 variant as well!
March 27th, 2021: having exhausted the 'special teams' operatives from the 1993 GI Joe roster, I'm left with the general pool of GI Joes from that year. The first of these I've cleaned up is Snow Storm, who has not only been Condensed, Modernized, and Streamlined, but has received a 4C System: Edition 13 variant on the site as well. Gettin' there!
March 26th, 2021: since I'm all out of 'special teams' vehicles in the 1993 GI Joe roster, that leaves the equipment common to all GI Joes. And the first of these rides that I have rehabilitated is the Shark 9000, something of a downgrade for its pilot, poor Cutter, but still has a few redeeming qualities. After all, how many boats can get you places on land?
March 25th, 2021: wrapping up the Mega-Marines once and for all, I have overhauled my profiles of GI Joe's Mirage. As I Condensed, Streamlined, and Modernized his ancient, ancient texts, and then built a 4C System: Edition 13 variation of the man, I saw several opportunities for improvement. At least now the guy finally lives up to his name, right?
March 24th, 2021: tidying up the sole Mega-Marines vehicle, I've rehabilitated my descriptions of the Monster Blaster. These things weren't too bad, as I borrowed its texts for the 2004 Android Personnel Carrier, but they needed some work. Thus, I've Streamlined, Modernized, and Condensed my entries for this thing, and produced an Edition 13 variation as well!
March 23rd, 2021: sidling back over to the character side of things, I'm making my big push to wrap up my refinements to the 1993 GI Joe roster of personnel and equipment. The first outstanding trio of this material involves the Mega-Marines, the first of which is Blast-Off. He needed Modernizing badly, not to mention a bit of Streamlining for good measure.
March 22nd, 2021: wrapping up this fifth (of probably eighteen?) rounds of (re)proofreading in all four variations of my Powers documents, I've roughed up the text for the Empathic Hammer, Empathy, Empowerment, and Enchanted Eye abilities this time around. This involved slight changes to empathy for the System 13 and FNORD rule sets, for the better!
March 21st, 2021: I (re)proofread Elemental Control, Elemental Sense, Elongation, and Emotion Control today. Totally rebuilt (and buffed) the Saga System 13 variation on Elongation, since the text was inexplicable, and used Saga text for the Elemental Control spell for both the Universal Heroes and 4C System: Edition 13 variations, as it was worlds better.
March 20th, 2021: what do you know, today featured another surprise dose of serendipity in the selection of powers I (re)proofread! This is because I've tidied up all four variations on my descriptions of the Electricity Control, Electricity Generation, Electronics Disruption, and Electronics Invisibility powers, mostly fiddling with text flow this time around.
March 19th, 2021: having wound up with another happy accident of a theme day, I have roughed up the texts for the Eldritch Blast, Eldritch Bolt, Eldritch Palm, and Eldritch Wave spells today. Though not really! While I fidged with this and that, the only meaningful change I made was to eliminate a reference to a rule I eliminated in the last of those spells.
March 18th, 2021: holding it together, I did another batch of the (re)proofreading today as well. This time around, I hit the Ego Suppression, Eidetic Memory, Eldritch Attacks, and Eldritch Barrier spells, and for the most part I found little what needed improving. While there were a few text improvements, things would've been fine here had I left them be.
March 17th, 2021: keeping on with the (re)proofreading of all four Powers documents, I've covered the Dual Respiration, Dyad, Edge / Fortune / Karma / Kismet Control, and Edges abilities today. These powers were another case of looking good as I began, but then worse and worse as I progressed, until I changed a whole lot of each power's text, ideally for the better!
March 16th, 2021: continuing the mammoth (re)proofreading of the four variations on my Powers document, I've perused the verbiage on Dissolution, Distraction, Dream Projection, and Drones. While I mostly left the words on these powers be at first, the subsequent passes through each version of them yielded more and more word flow improvements. Bonus!
March 15th, 2021: starting my fifth round of (re)proofreading for all four variations on the Powers document, I've roughed up the text for the Disease, Disengagement, Disguise, and Disintegration abilities today. Gave the System 13 and FNORD variations of Disease a small buff, and made countless changes to the verbiage on all four. Sigh.
March 14th, 2021: since I only have one more description of the Ninja Force to sort out to complete that team once and for all, I've banged my head against T'Gin-Zu, operator of the team's Pile Driver. While his name is utterly silly, and sounds like something Larry Hama would come up with, the character himself is actually pretty cool, so check him out!
March 13th, 2021: as all of its personnel and other equipment for 1993 are sorted out, it's high time that I overhaul my descriptions of the Star Brigade's Armor-Bot! This massive mech, measuring in at thirty-six feet tall, is heavily armed and armored, and can even be piloted by Joes in Star Brigade armor. Streamlined, Modernized, and 4C System-ized. Woo!
March 12th, 2021: since life has suddenly taken a left turn, I'm cramming to squeeze in as many updates before the end of this Technoholic year as is possible. As such, I am focusing on wrapping up the 1993 GI Joe roster. Today's effort saw me Streamlining and Modernizing Robo-Joe, not to mention building his 4C System: Edition 13 variation. And this was a lot of work.
March 11th, 2021: as my penultimate revision to the roster of the GI Joe sub-team's Ninja Force, I've sorted out my descriptions of Banzai today. A close friend of Bushido, Banzai joined the Ninja Force team at the same time as his buddy, and the two often team up on Cobra ninjas! He is now Modernized and Streamlined, and possesses a 4C System: Edition 13 variation!
March 10th, 2021: as I've already cleaned up the Pile Driver, due to its Cobra counterpart being added to the 13 previously, I only have one more vehicle to cover for the Ninja Force. And this was the Ninja Lightning Cycle, who I Streamlined, Condensed, and Modernized. I also added its 4C System: Edition 13 variation, for the sake of completion.
March 9th, 2021: with me having wrapped up the 1992 GI Joe roster, we're working on the 1993 folks properly, now! To start with, I've decided to get rid of outstanding Ninja Force materials, beginning with Bushido. This guy, though he's a ninja, dresses like a samurai for some reason. Shrug? Anyway, I've Condensed, Modernized, and Streamlined his descriptions. Enjoy!
March 8th, 2021: wrapping up both this penultimate Technoholic month for year 23 of the site's existence and this round of Powers document (re)proofreading, I've worked over the Dimensional Displacement, Dimensional Interface, Dimensional Static, and Dimensional Transit powers. These four related abilities all required substantial text improvements.
March 7th, 2021: as the penultimate work in my fourth of eighteen (?) blocks of Powers document proofreading, I've gone over all four variations on Device Generation, Device Sympathy, Diagnosis, and Dimensional Attunement. Most of these were pretty straight-forward, but the first involved lots of text changes - and a buff for the Saga and FNORD versions of the power!
March 6th, 2021: still pounding away at the (third) work of the ages, my (re)proofreading of all four variations on the Powers document proceeds apace! This time, I've cleaned up Density Control / Others, Density Control / Self, Detachable Parts, and Detoxification. Save for the last of these, I made considerable changes to each - and even 'buffed' the density abilities!
March 5th, 2021: I've gone over a quartet of divine abilities for you today, (re)proofreading the Deific Impersonation, Deionic Attack, Deionic Control, and Deliverance powers. And hoo boy, was this a pain, for I had to essentially rewrite Deific Impersonation, because its text was a bit too plodding, circular, and vague. I think that it's much better now!
March 4th, 2021: now halfway through this round of Powers document proofreading, I've covered Decontamination, Defensive Portals, Deflection, and Degeneration this time around. All of these endured some minor tweaks to their wording, but for the most part the rules text itself seemed solid. So I didn't find any major issues here, in other words.
March 3rd, 2021: proceeding apace with the (third) proofreading of the ages, I've gone over all four versions of the Darkness Generation, Daybreak, Daydreams, and Death Ray powers. The last two needed no alteration, but the first two? Ugh. Daybreak in particular had to be partially rewritten, because I screwed up the vampire-killing portion of the spell. Sigh.
March 2nd, 2021: continuing the mammoth task that is my third proofreading of all four variations on my Powers document, I have gone over Cyclone, Damage Reduction, Danger Sense, and Darkness Control today. Finally finishing the mammoth roster of powers that begin with 'C', I only really had to tweak the first and last of these abilities this time around.
March 1st, 2021: moving back to that job what never, ever seems to end, I'm beginning the fourth (of eighteen?) rounds of proofreading through all four variations on my Powers document. This new block of work, on this new calendar month, has seen me work over Crowd Control, Cure Disease, Curse, and Cyberspatial Projection - the first of which I reworked a ton.
February 28th, 2021: since my work on the 1992 GI Joe personnel and equipment roster is done at last, all that's left to do with that material is build its text file downloadable. I did that, and the inexplicably convoluted read me file for the '92 Joe archive, and then updated it by replacing the previous one. Oddly, this archive is a lot smaller than the original.
February 27th, 2021: with only one more vehicle to clean up before I can start on those from GI Joe's 1993 roster, I completed my efforts to revise the 1992 GI Joe content by Streamlining and Modernizing my descriptions of the Storm Eagle fighter jet. Also added a 4C System: Edition 13 variation to this supersonic laser weapons platform, as well!
February 26th, 2021: having only one more Joe to wrap up before I can move on to 1993's material, I spent today sorting Dojo's character descriptions out. Streamlining and Modernizing him was quite easy, almost as if I'd written his stuff long, long after I did Nunchuk's. Added his 4C System: Edition 13 variation and details of his recent, 2017 figure, too.
February 25th, 2021: wrapping up the first half of my last, altered character cycle of the month, I rehabilitated my descriptions of Nunchuk. I Streamlined, Modernized, and Condensed my descriptions of him. In addition to rewriting his (and T'jbang's) skill set from scratch, I added the man's 4C System: Edition 13 variation as well. Hope you can dig it!
February 24th, 2021: unlike my Cobra roster, my focus on GI Joe personnel and equipment is within the same calendar year. This is because I had yet to clean up my descriptions of the Patriot, the penultimate vehicle I need to rehabilitate for 1992. For something so small, this thing is bristling with weaponry, and now has an Edition 13 variation, as well!
February 23rd, 2021: switching over to character work once more, I am rehabilitating the first 'new' member of the Ninja Force: T'jbang! No idea how you're supposed to pronounce that (shebang?), but there you go. I Streamlined and Modernized his descriptions, added details from his 2014 action figure, and then gave him a 4C System: Edition 13 variation!
February 22nd, 2021: wrapping up my third block of Powers documents proofreading, I've perused all four variations on Contact Absorption, Contingency, Corporeal Gestalt, and Corrosion. The latter two required nothing, but the first two had some conversion errors and Pronoun Problems, and Contingency didn't say what its rank was even for. Fixed all that!
February 21st, 2021: trying to wrap up this third round of effort on the third proofreading of all four variations on the Powers document, I've pored over the text for Computer Link, Conflagrant Chariot, Confusion, and Conjuration. Sadly, this was a lot of work. Oh sure, they'd have been 'okay' as they previously sat, but now they're a whole lot better.
February 20th, 2021: still grinding away at the work of the ages, I've gone over the text in all four variations of Commandment, Commune, Compass Sense, and Componentry. As was the case yesterday, change after change came to me as I pored over the verbiage in each ability, but none of these were actually awful - mostly just grammatical tweaks.
February 19th, 2021: banging away at the eternal work of words, I've proofread all four variations on the Cold Generation, Color Control, Combat Edge, and Combining Powers powers. At first this was going easy, but as things proceeded I uncovered more and more insidious problems that, in hindsight, I can honestly see why they were missed the first two times around.
February 18th, 2021: woo, this block of proofreading is now halfway done! That's because I've pored over all four variations on the text for Clarity, Claws, Clinging, and Clone Projection. Mechanically all of these were just fine, though I fidged with minor details of the grammar and sentence structure that probably didn't need so much effort.
February 17th, 2021: in an utterly mind-numbing exercise, I've re-proofread Clairaudience, Clairgustance, Clairtouchence, and Clairvoyance. Four versions of four powers whose text are all almost identical. Ow, my brain. Aside from one minor textual improvement replacing dashes with commas, the verbiage on these pretty much remained the same.
February 16th, 2021: on day two of my third cycle through my third Powers documents proofread, I've gone through Chaos Shift, Charm, Circular Vision, and Clairalience. There was nothing wrong with these power descriptions in and of themselves, but I greatly refined the grammar and style of the given text, and I think they're a lot better as a result.
February 15th, 2021: moving back to the work of the ages, I've proofread and refined all four variations of four more powers once more. Today's effort saw me cleaning up the Universal Heroes, 4C System: Edition 13, Saga System 13, and
redacted FNORD versions of Catalysis, Causality Control, Celestial Light Control, and Celestial Light Generation.
February 14th, 2021: returning to the heady days of 1992, it's time to finish work on the DEF's nemeses. Having already covered his minions, the Headhunters, I've described Headman in all his illicit glory. And this is the only character who was notoriously bumped off in both the comics, cartoons, and the toyline itself - they hated him that much!
February 13th, 2021: since my 1992 gear is done, I'm working on 1993 equipment, instead. And this oddity is Destro's power armor, which I am calling Space Snake armor, for... reasons? It has no name, I'm just making this up as I go! Luckily for me, though, this is simply a modification of the GI Joe Star Brigade armor entry, so I get a relatively easy one today.
February 12th, 2021: moving along to the 1992 Cobra personnel roster, I've begun work on the Headhunters, a gang of drug dealers, smugglers, and other odious criminal types who at first preyed upon Cobra, but ultimately wound up doing business with them. Today I built a description of the basic Headhunter, the backbone of this vile criminal organization.
February 11th, 2021: wrapping up this wave of updates to the GI Joe personnel and equipment roster, I've refined my descriptions of Bullet-Proof. The sole member of the DEF I hadn't reworked yet, he is now Condensed, Streamlined, and Modernized! Since he only ever had two figures, all that really needed doing here was his missing Edition 13 variation.
February 10th, 2021: since I'm not ahead in time on the GI Joe vehicles, I'll continue dipping my toes into 1992 today. To this end, I cleaned up my entry for the GI Joe Headquarters, Modernizing, Streamlining, and Condensing it, and then making an Edition 13 version. This took a lot, because this was another reeeeealy old description, from the look of it.
February 9th, 2021: moving back into my character work once more, I've resumed my work on the 1992 GI Joe roster! This time around, I've rehabilitated my description of General Flagg III, Condensing, Modernizing, and Streamlining his various texts. This didn't take too much work, but I did have to add his new, 2017 action figure in. So hey, new stuff?
February 8th, 2021: completing my second tour through the four variations on my Powers document, I've started out my efforts on the powers what begin with the letter C. This first batch includes Caesura, Cancer, Carrier Wave, and Casting. There were very few changes I needed to make for this pile of powers, luckily, which feels nice after the last fifteen.
February 7th, 2021: wrapping up the powers from the Powers documents that begin with the letter B, I have gone over my descriptions of Body Control, Body Doubles, Boon, and Buttress. I made Buttress slightly more forgiving in the Saga System 13 rules, and then made numerous improvements to the flow of text in all of these save for Body Control.
February 6th, 2021: on day six of my second round through the four Powers documents, I've chewed up the text from Blending, Bless, Blood of Qingu, and Body Armor, and spit it out! I've made serious upgrades to all four of these, making the flow of their verbiage a bit easier on the brain. At least I like to think so, at any rate. Functionally, they were good though.
February 5th, 2021: keeping on in my effort to be done with this overhaul of my extant rules work once and for all, I've proofread four more powers from the four variations on my Powers document. Bilocation, Biological Invisibility, Biological Sense, and Biological Vampirism have all been processed now, and I think their descriptions are a bit clearer.
February 4th, 2021: now halfway through this second batch of proofreading on the Powers documents, I have worked my way across the words inherent to Bashmu, Battle Tail, Berserker, and Between. Save for Battle Tail, I found improvements I could make on all of these things, so hopefully they read a lot more smoother now. Hopefully, at any rate.
February 3rd, 2021: starting in on the batch of powers in my Powers documents which begin with the letter B, I have completed my third round of proofreading for the four variations on this work. Thus, Bands, Bane of Lies, Banishment, and Barbs have now been revisited, and I've made oodles of changes for the sake of readability on three of these capabilities.
February 2nd, 2021: wrapping up the powers from the Powers documents that begin with the letter A, I have gone over my descriptions of Aura, Auscultation, Avatar, and Awe. While the latter stayed the same, I found numerous improvements I could make to the grammar of the other three, and fixed several inexplicablly simple and bad errors in my text. Sigh.
February 1st, 2021: starting up the second of many tours through my four variations on the Powers document, I've perused the powers of Astral Projection, Atomic Sense, Attenuation, and Augury. While there weren't any errors, per se, I found countless bits of text that could be improved upon, so I did precisely that. Some changes may've even been warranted!
January 31st, 2021: wrapping up this cycle of Cobra updates, I've added yet another corps to the 1992 personnel roster! This latest work covers the Air Devils, a kind of Cobra who gains their uniform after three days of glider training and intense melee combat drills. Working as saboteurs, they silently infiltrate from above and wreak havoc behind enemy lines!
January 30th, 2021: since I'm done with '92 Cobra gear, I'm on to the 1993 equipment today! And, since I'm done building new entries for those devices, I've gone and Modernized and Streamlined the '93 GI Joe Pile Driver, since Cobra's almost identical counterpart is the Battle Ax. And now, both of those are covered in a dual description for both.
January 29th, 2021: switching back over to the 1992 Cobra personnel roster, I've produced an all-new description of some elite Cobra helicopter pilots! These Heli-Vipers are seemingly fearless airborne acrobats, whose membershp is screened Cobra Commander himself, and provide high-altitude surveillance around the position of their fellow terrorists.
January 28th, 2021: matching my work on their equipment rosters, I've started my efforts to overhaul the 1992 GI Joe personnel roster today! The first target of this work is Barricade, an urban combat specialist who I had a hard time describing originally, because my system lacks an 'urban combat' skill, so I wasn't sure how to handle this fellow until I did.
January 27th, 2021: still poking away at the 1992 GI Joe equipment roster, since all the previous gear has been sorted out. Again. Today's effort has seen me cleaning up Fort America, an inexplicable tank/playset that can transform between, well, a tank mode and a playset mode. I don't get it? But hey, at least it's now Streamlined and Modernized for you!
January 26th, 2021: with that last fellow sorted out, I guess I'm finally done with the 1991 GI Joe personnel and equipment roster. Uh, again. As such, I took the time to rebuild that year of GI Joe's text file downloadable, and have shunted it up to the server once more. Ah, completion, after a fashion. Now, let us move onto the 1992 stuff, I say!
January 25th, 2021: completing the updates required for me to call the 1991 GI Joe rosters done once and for all, I've proofread my extant descriptions of Heavy Duty again. I did this because I found a couple things on him what needed fixing, and have taken the time to 'perfect' what I had written for him before moving on. And now I have!
January 24th, 2021: completing my first (of probably eighteen?) rounds of proofreading on the four variations of Powers documents here at the 13, I've passed through the text for Antipsion Generation, Apotheosis, Artificial Power Source, and Assimilation. And, much to my eternal shame, I found countless grammatical improvements I could make on the things. Sigh.
January 23rd, 2021: keepin' on with the proofreading to end all proofreading (ha ha,) I've completed day seven of my third passthrough of the four different Powers documents. This latest installment has seen me going over Antideionic Attack, Antigravity, Antimagic Generaiton, and Antimatter. Such negativity, am I right? Eh? Eh? Eh? Thank you, thank you, I'll be here all week!
January 22nd, 2021: the vast proofreading of the many variations on my Powers documents proceeds apace! On this episode of soul-crushing reading, I've perused all four versions of Animal Hybridization / Self, Animal Sympathy, Annulment, and Anonymity. And, as has been the case a lot so far, I found a whole lot of things that could use some tweaking. Sigh.
January 21st, 2021: hey hey hey, I'm already halfway through the first round of my final Powers documents proofreading! Today, I perused all four listings for Amplification, Anchor, Animal Control, and Animal Hybridization / Others, and found fixes I could make for each. Which is obnoxious, as many times as I've already worked on Anchor, but what can you do, right?
January 20th, 2021: on day four of my initial foray into proofreading all four variations on my Powers document, I've gone over Age Control / Self, Aggregation, Alchemical Analysis, and Alteration. As it turns out, the only power what needed refining was Aggregation, and then I mainly just indulged in some grammatical upgrades that probably weren't needed.
January 19th, 2021: ah, proofreading. Sometimes relaxing, sometimes vexing. For instance, today was an instance of the latter, for I have gone over all four variations on Adrenal Boost, Adrenal Vampirism, Affinity, and Age Control / Others, and problems abounded. From lingering Pronoun Problems to conversion errors to several simple grammar faux pas, these sucked.
January 18th, 2021: powering through my second day at the big proofread of my four variations on the Powers document, I've passed through the Universal Heroes, 4C System: Edition 13, Saga System 13, and
redacted FNORD versions of Additional Organs, Adhesion, Adjoining, and Admittance, and only had to make one change to one of those. Not too bad, I guess.
January 17th, 2021: so, it is time. Beginning the very last work required to overhaul all of my extant rules texts, I am starting my previously aborted attempt to proofread all four variations on each system's Powers document. I launched this effort with a glance at all four versions of Ability Boost, Abstraction, Aciurgy, and Additional Limbs.
January 16th, 2021: as the counterpart to yesterday's work, I went through the 4C System: Edition 13 variations on the Textbook Character Treatise power roster micro-expansions. And as it turns out, the powers missing durations matched in both: Additional Organs, Flake Armor (which I'll match to Body Armor), and all the physical weaponry powers. Which kinda makes sense.
January 15th, 2021: though I've gone through and rebuilt each of the Textbook Character Treatise power roster micro-expansions, I wanted to double check them to ensure I'd added durations to everything - and if I haven't, documenting that for eventual fixing. I did that today with all the Universal Heroes variations on this documents. Halfway done!
January 14th, 2021: one of the Cobras I'd been looking forward to describing for a very long time, I've finally found room in my update schedule to produce entries for the Toxo-Zombie! These former Toxo-Vipers were overexposed to toxins of various kinds thanks to their substandard PPE, and devolved into chemically-induced zombies as a result!
January 13th, 2021: what with the 1992 Cobra equipment being done, I am pressing on in their 1993 roster of vehicles! As such, I've completed a description of the Ice Snake today, a smaller cold-weather ride that features only two weapons - one of which can also fire an immense grappling hook - one big enough to snag other vehicles!
January 12th, 2021: moving along to the 1992 Cobra roster, I have started out by covering the Flak-Viper, one of the few Vipers released this year. These guys are anti-aircraft specialists who assault staggeringly expensive government hardware with their surface-to-air missile-launching backpacks. And the Flak-Vipers really, really enjoy their jobs.
January 11th, 2021: continuing my character efforts here on the 13, I've revised the penultimate character remaining in the 1991 GI Joe personnel roster! Major Barrage is the counterpart (after a fashion) of the Interrogator, as both used a back-mounted helicopter for some reason. Either way, he's now Streamlined, Modernized, Condensed, and given an Edition 13 variation!
January 10th, 2021: with everything previous done, I'm once again diving into the 1992 GI Joe equipment roster! This time around, I'm cleaning up my oddly sparse description of the Desert Apache AH-74, which is pretty much the Apache AH-64, changed slightly for... reasons? Either way, this combat helicopter has now been Modernized and Streamlined!
January 9th, 2021: starting this Technoholic month with a change of venue, I've resumed work on the 1991 GI Joe roster. Taking a look at Tracker, I decided to make a bunch of batch changes to all my character entries, which may come back to haunt me. But these fixed him up, and gave me the opportunity to craft his 4C System: Edition 13 variation!
January 8th, 2021: wrapping up my work to revise the micro-expansions for my various rules systems, I overhauled the 4C System: Edition 13 variation on the Textbook Character Treatise's Sensory Powers document. As I always do with these, I performed the same basic work, and then did a quick error check to try and make this effort bungle-resistant.
January 7th, 2021: so I've finally gotten here, at the final power roster micro-expansion for my Textbook Character Treatise that needs to be redone. As such, I've done precisely that for the Universal Heroes variation on the Sensory Powers documents, and had to plug in a bunch of durations for these abilities, should they be used as spells or psionics.
January 6th, 2021: mirroring what I did yesterday, I rebuilt the 4C System: Edition 13 variation on the Reality Control Powers micro-expansion for my Textbook Character Treatise. Plugged in those missing powers and power durations, and then checked everything out to see if I'd bungled anything. Unless I bungled that, I think everything is in order here.
January 5th, 2021: starting the second to last overhaul of my Textbook Character Treatise power roster micro-expansions, I've cleaned up the Universal Heroes variation on the Reality Control Powers document. Had to add durations to a few powers, and then plug in Grace, Keeper, and Logos, since apparently I forgot to do so when I wrote the things.
January 4th, 2021: I completed work on the Power Control Powers documents today, as I rebuilt the 4C System: Edition 13 variation on this micro-expansion for my Textbook Character Treatise this time around. And what do you know, that means I've only got two more of these things to sort out before I'm all done with them, once and for all! Well, again, anyway.
January 3rd, 2021: as I continue to get used to writing '2021' in these updates, I am moving along with my overhauls of the power roster micro-expansions for the Textbook Character Treatise! That's why, today, I have rebuilt the Universal Heroes variation on the Power Control Powers document today, adding a few durations to applicable powers as I went.
January 2nd, 2021: since I didn't need to fiddle with the power blocks on the Powers documents at all, rebuilding the 4C System: Edition 13 variation on the Textbook Character Treatise's Physical Weaponry Powers micro-expansion was a relative snap. I pondered plugging durations into these things, as if enhanced to be transient in nature, but haven't quite got that far yet.
January 1st, 2021: moving along to my rules updates once more, I've begun work on the last four of the Textbook Character Treatise's power roster micro-expansions. To this end, I rebuilt the Universal Heroes variation on the Physical Weaponry Powers document, and didn't try to mash durations into them, because they're permanent anatomical oddities by nature!
December 31st, 2020: I believe I'll wrap up this truly awful year by performing a parallel duty here on the 13. To wit, I'm wrapping up my work on the 1991 Cobra personnel and equipment by producing their text file archive, consigning all of my work during this Cobra era into a singular compressed file for your ease of download. You're welcome!
December 30th, 2020: today I write my last addition to the 1991 Cobra personnel roster! This individual is Sky Creeper, a criminal who utilizes gliders to relieve high-elevation locations of anything valuable. Leader of the Night Vultures, Sky Creeper is another one of those Cobra operatives I knew little about until I researched him proper.
December 29th, 2020: having wrapped up the 1991 and 1992 Cobra equipment rosters, it looks like I have to start in on the 1993 gear! The first Cobra entry I've ever made for that calendar year is the Detonator, a long-distance interdiction vehicle. Armed with numerous guns and three (count 'em) ICBMs, the Detonator can flatten just about anything!
December 28th, 2020: for my penultimate addition to the 1991 Cobra personnel roster, I give you the Night Vultures! These bottom-level glider operators are generally viewed as expendable by the Cobra Command, due to their generally cowardly and thieving natures. However, a highly effective glider operator and combatant occasionally emerges from their ranks.
December 27th, 2020: as opposed to my work two days ago, my efforts with Cloudburst were... involved. Not only was he clearly one of the earliest folks from 1991 I wrote, but he's one of the guys that got missed when I did the big overhaul the first time around. Ten years ago? Ugh. Anyway, he's finally done now, and has his Edition 13 variation as well!
December 26th, 2020: being between years on GI Joe hardware rosters, I have moved forward to 2003 for a moment, since both Cloudburst and Skymate utilize a vehicle introduced that year. Yes, I've Streamlined, Modernized, and Condensed the Air Assault Glider, adding its 2004 and 2016 variations, as well as its 4C System: Edition 13 version!
December 25th, 2020: Oh Oh Oh, Merry XXX-Mas! As another present for you, I've resumed work on the 1991 GI Joe personnel roster! Today I've cleaned up the first of that year's Air Commandos, Skymate! This guy must've been completed late in my original cycles through the GI Joe roster, for he didn't need too much Modernization work. A little, but not tons.
December 24th, 2020: Happy Holiday Eve! If you were growing up in my house, you would be opening your presents today. In the spirit of such, I have an upgraded 4C System: Edition variation on my Textbook Character Treatise's Physical Enhancement Powers document for you! Ho Ho Ho, sucka! And now, on to our regularly scheduled character work. Yay!
December 23rd, 2020: the last of my work on my micro-expansions for this 'cycle' of updates, I have updated the Universal Heroes variation on my Physical Enhanement Powers document for the Textbook Character Treatise. I added durations to all the abilities here that it remotely made sense for, and then added in Zest, since I'd apparently forgotten to do so.
December 22nd, 2020: hey, it's Firebomb's birthday! Ha ha, I'm old. As a reverse birthday present, I am wrapping up my work on the physical control powers, namely by cleaning up the 4C System: Edition 13 variation on the Physical Control Powers micro-expansion of the Textbook Character Treatise. Not much else to say, really, except that now I've got nine of these done.
December 21st, 2020: grinding my way through the remaining micro-expansions for my Textbook Character Treatise, I've gone over the Physical Control Powers document for my Universal Heroes rules. Some of these lacked durations, since they aren't used in any other portion of my custom rules, but I added them anyway, in case someone wants to build a custom spell out of 'em.
December 20th, 2020: with all the work adding durations to the movement powers complete, I've rebuilt the 4C System: Edition 13 variation on the Movement Powers document. This micro-expansion is now done for, thankfully, leaving only six more to overhaul (and only two of each variety, at that). Can you tell I'm really, really enjoying this work?
December 19th, 2020: hitting my third block of Textbook Character Treatise micro-expansion overhauls, I've cleaned up the Universal Heroes variation on the Movement Powers document. I had to add durations to a lot of these abilities, since they didn't require one as originally designed, but this didn't take me all that long, since there were only six of 'em.
December 18th, 2020: having identified the problem with the Mental Enhancement Powers micro-expansions to my Textbook Character Treatise, I've rebuilt the 4C System: Edition 13 variation on this theme. This just involved replacing the thirteen extant entries for it, and then slotting the four 'new' powers into the mix. I think I'm halfway done with these now!
December 17th, 2020: Textbook Character Treatise micro-expansion number seven is dedicated to mental enhancement powers, and today I've reworked the Universal Heroes variation on the Mental Enhancement Powers document! There's only seventeen of these things, but I had to add four to the files today, as I previously only had thirteen of them plugged in. Whoops.
December 16th, 2020: with the original variation on this theme done, I've gone and sorted out the 4C System: Edition 13 version of the Universal Heroes rules' Mental Powers document for my Textbook Character Treatise. The scary thing here is that I could probably plug even more powers into this category if I were feeling particulalry ambitious. Bleah.
December 15th, 2020: switching from character work to rules work once more, I've begun to clean up another of my Textbook Character Treatise's micro-expansions! Today, I've taken on the largest of these things, covering the Universal Heroes variation on the Mental Powers document. And now, all fifty of these posthuman powers have been plugged into the mix!
December 14th, 2020: wrapping up my almost-week of almost-entirely Eco-Warrior-related updates, I've written entirely new descriptions of Cesspool! This madman, mutilated in an accident involving his own industrial effluents, has vowed to destroy the world! Or, at the very least, to ruin it by coating every square inch of the planet in toxic wastes!
December 13th, 2020: carrying on with my Eco-Warriors updates, I've produced a description of the somewhat small Cobra base known as the Toxo-Lab. While it's somewhat lacking, four of these would make for a great, albeit prohibitively expensive, diorama. At any rate, covering this thing has wrapped up all the 1992 Cobra equipment. Already. I know, right?
December 12th, 2020: moving along to the Cobra half of my update cycle, I've produced all-new descriptions of the Sludge-Vipers. These far more offensive, specialized Toxo-Vipers carry mobile Sludge factories, which they use to destroy people, places, and things. While still Cobras, they are completely loyal to Cesspool, their leader and paymaster!
December 11th, 2020: continuing my effort to completely reference the Eco-Warriors and their many foes, I've sorted out my descriptions of Clean Sweep. This final Eco-Warrior has been Streamlined and Modernized, an effort a lot easier than it was for Ozone, and then constructed an all-new, 4C System: Edition 13 variation as well. Now, on to the bad guys!
December 10th, 2020: okay, so today is the one day out of the first six this Technoholic month that has nothing to do with the Eco-Warriors. This is because it involved overhauling my descriptions of the Brawler, the last 1991 GI Joe vehicle I needed to upgrade. And I have done just that, Modernizing its texts and adding its Edition 13 variation.
December 9th, 2020: to start off this Technoholic month, I'm beginning a week of (almost) entirely Eco-Warrior related updates to the 13! To start with, I've Condensed, Streamlined, and Modernized my description of Ozone, adding his 4C System: Edition 13 variation in the process. For some reason, this was a brutal set of updates, but at least they're finally done.
December 8th, 2020: the counterpart to yesterday's efforts, I cleaned up the 4C System: Edition 13 variation on the Matter Control Powers document. This Textbook Character Treatise micro-expansion's work was the same as what I did yesterday, just for a different game system. Not much more to say there, as I didn't find any additional problems what needed fixing. Yay!
December 7th, 2020: starting the fifth of fourteen variations on Textbook Character Treatise power roster micro-expansions, I've overhauled the Universal Heroes variation on the Matter Control Powers document. Fixed a few that were lacking durations, not that they technically needed them, and then replaced all the extant power descriptions with fresh ones from the matching Powers document.
December 6th, 2020: well that's done. The Energy Generation Powers documents are now modernized, since I've gone and worked over the 4C System: Edition 13 variation on this theme. With the durations added in, this didn't take me too long, at least, but once I got through with the mini-slog provided by yesterday's work, it still felt onerous. Ah well, at least I need not do this again. I think?
December 5th, 2020: trying to keep my momentum through the rest of this Technoholic month, I worked over the somewhat smaller, Universal Heroes variation on my Energy Generation Powers document. None of these had durations, for what at the time of their writing was eminently sensible reasons, but now they aren't, so I fixed that on all four Powers documents before I commenced with the fixing.
December 4th, 2020: wrapping up the Energy Control Powers documents, I sorted out the 4C System: Edition 13 variation on this theme today. Since I already did a bit of the legwork for this task, it took me slightly less long to finagle, but still, kinda sloggy. At any rate, all thirty of these abilities have been modernized for one's ease of use in referencing powers in the game. Enjoy!
December 3rd, 2020: moving along in the work of the ages, I've cleaned up the Universal Heroes variation on the Energy Control Powers document. This was quite the slog, since most of these abilities lacked a duration, so I had to plug those into all four variations of the Powers document before I could really get started. I know why I didn't have those previously, but it was still a pain.
December 2nd, 2020: ending my work on the Combination Powers micro-expansions to my Textbook Character Treatises, I've cleaned up its 4C System: Edition 13 variation. Same drill as yesterday, especially since I missed my fixes to Evolution Control in both the regular powers documents and these mini-rosters. At least I caught it, I guess. Beh.
December 1st, 2020: starting up the third of twenty-eight Textbook Character Treatise micro-expansion file upgrades, I've worked over the Combination Powers document for that system. While all fifteen powers were present, many of them lacked durations, so I fixed that - in all versions of every document I have that features them. That took a bit.
November 30th, 2020: rounding out this calendar month, I upgraded the 4C System: Edition 13 variation on the Biological Control Powers document. I performed the same work here, replacing the extant power descriptions, adding Gestalting and Harm, and ensured I didn't bungle the operation with a few repeated error checks. Twenty-six to go!
November 29th, 2020: returning to my penultimate bit of rules re-modernification, I've upgraded the Biological Control Powers document for my Universal Heroes rules system. I was only missing Gestalting and Harm, it seems, so this work was a simple matter of replacing all thirty-nine of the other powers in this category and adding it in.
November 28th, 2020: though it took me a bit to figure out how to approach this guy, I've concocted my descriptions of the Interrogator today. This elite espionage agent is feared and hated by friend and foe alike, and I had a bit of fun writing about him. I didn't even use any of my 'canned' text for his stuff and his skills. I know, right?
November 27th, 2020: producing the penultimate addition to my 1992 Cobra equipment roster, I built descriptions of the Parasite today. This heavily armed and armored troop transport can withstand and/or demolish just about anything. Kind of a good thing, as its neon orange and deep purple color scheme are great at attracting enemy attention!
November 26th, 2020: dipping my toes deeper into the 1991 Cobra roster of personnel, I've produced a description of the Crimson Guard Immortals! These elite versions of the already elite Siegies are true combat monsters, and likely a handful for any conventional forces of any stripe - not to mention their fair share of super-human opponents.
November 25th, 2020: finishing my first of four or five batches of 1991 personnel roster for the Joes, I've overhauled my Big Ben descriptions. Had to do some serious Condensation, Modernization, and Streamlining work on what I had for him so far, and then build his 4C System: Edition 13 variation, to boot. All this for a character I'm not too fond of. Sigh.
November 24th, 2020: continuing my efforts to modernize my 1991 GI Joe equipment roster, I've pounded out a revised description of the Battle Wagon today. Cleaned up some of the verbiage, aligned some of the technology with how I've codified things properly these days, and produced a 4C System: Edition 13 variation on this theme. Only one more to go!
November 23rd, 2020: starting up my effort to rehabilitate the 1991 roster of GI Joe personnel, I've cleaned up my extant descriptions of Cool Breeze, and gave him a 4C System: Edition 13 variation. Sure, this guy never had an action figure, but he was featured prominently in at least one GI Joe comic book - well, just one, I suppose, but it was a big part.
November 22nd, 2020: it's taken me a good long time, but I'm finally done overhauling those micro-expansions I built for the Manual of the Psi. This is because the 4C System: Edition 13 variation on the Theonic Powers roster document is now done. I even managed to catch a few errors I didn't know I'd made on the Powers document and iron them out in the process of doing so.
November 21st, 2020: as I need not add any new powers to the mix, rehabilitating the Universal Heroes variation on the Manual of the Psi's micro-expansion for the theonic discipline of power is simply a matter of moving each power's data from the Powers document for that game set to the Theonic Powers document. Only one more file to fix, now. Woo!
November 20th, 2020: at long last, I'm about to wrap up my work rebuilding the micro-expansions I've dedicated to the Manual of the Psi's nine disciplines of power. This because I'm comparing the power generation tables for theonic powers against what I've got in the venerable micro-expansion files, and oddly everything lines up.
November 19th, 2020: the penultimate upgrade to the Manual of the Psi's micro-expansions is now finished, for I have completed my work on the Technopsi Powers documents! That's right, the 4C System: Edition 13 variation on this theme has been remanufactured from scratch, and error checked to make sure I didn't bungle anything serious. Or anything at all.
November 18th, 2020: as there are less technopsionics than there are in most disciplines, it didn't take me forever to pound this modernization of the Universal Heroes' Technopsi Powers document. This micro-expansion has now been modernized, in the event that I rearranged any power characteristics and forgot to forward them into this micro-expansion.
November 17th, 2020: gearing up for my penultimate overhaul of the micro-expansions currently extant for my Manual of the Psi, I've worked my way through the technopsionic power roster, and compared it to what I have in each of the documents dedicated to it. Luckily, I wasn't missing any powers, so all that is necessary is to rebuild the things!
November 16th, 2020: with the first of two Superpsi Powers documents reconstituted from scratch, it's time to wrap up the other! That's right, today I've finalized the 4C System: Edition 13 variation on this micro-expansion for the Manual of the Psi, wiping the slate clean, adding the most recent entries from the Powers document, and plugging in Keeper as well!
November 15th, 2020: now knowing what I need to for the rehabilitation of the micro-expansions dedicated to the Manual of the Psi's superpsi powers, I've gone through the extensive process of rebuilding the Universal Heroes variation on this sucker from the ground up. Naturally, I added Keeper to the mix as well, so now this thing should be up to date.
November 14th, 2020: after a nice break from work on the massive power rosters that are the Manual of the Psi's micro-expansions, I'm gearing up to finish my work on them once and for all. I started this by going over my random power rolling tables for the superpsi discipline, and comparing it to the expansions, and realizing that the latter lacked Keeper!
November 13th, 2020: continuing my foray into the 1991 roster of Cobra personnel, I've described another of their faceless minions today. Dealing with even hotter matters than the Cobras I covered two days ago, the Incinerators are Cobra's resident flamethrower experts. And a good place to find all of their criminally insane pyromaniacs, to boot.
November 12th, 2020: since the 1991 Cobra vehicles are done, I'm working on the 1992 equipment roster today, instead! This effort has seen me produce a description of the Rat, a long, thin hovercraft built by Cobra to take and hold variable terrain, such as that you'd find in a swamp. While relatively small, this thing has an inordinate amount of weaponry!
November 11th, 2020: beginning my effort to catalog the 1991 roster of Cobra personnel, I began by describing the Desert Scorpions in great detail. This rank of Cobra soldier is a punitive one, where people wind up if they don't toe the line, one way or another. Those who are averse to the desert will perform excellently to earn their ticket out of it again!
November 10th, 2020: okay, so I'm done working on the 1990 GI Joe stuff, but there's still one more thing to do in regard to that material. To wit, I had to rebuild the text file downloadable to feature all my work on it over the last few months, and also rewrite the read me file from the ground up, since I started doing those a bit differently somewhat recently.
November 9th, 2020: at long, long, long last, I'm finally done working on the 1990 GI Joe material. Again. This is because I've gone over my descriptions of Ambush, and fixed up everything I hadn't the last, uh, three times I've revised his character entries. Really really for real, I think I've got all these '90 folks at 100 per cent. Honestly.
November 8th, 2020: wrapping up the seventh Technoholic month of the twenty-third Technoholic year, I've upgraded my descriptions of another 1991 GI Joe vehicle. This one was the Attack Cruiser, a heavily armed transport for an unarmed aerial vehicle launcher. Of course, this one can be rigged to explode, so it's also something of an extra-strong missile!
November 7th, 2020: my penultimate update of this Technoholic month is also my penultimate upgrade to the 1990 GI Joe roster, for I have cleaned up my descriptions of Bullhorn today. Made a minor tweak to his Guns skill, and then ironed out all the Modernizing and Streamlining and Condensing things I bungled the first, uh, two times I tried this. Sorry about that.
November 6th, 2020: it would appear that I've hit the two-thirds point in my effort to modernize the nine extant micro-expansions to the Manual of the Psi. This is because, today, I've rebuilt the 4C System: Edition 13 variation on the Psipathic Powers document, having replaced all forty-nine power entries in this document with fresh text from the Powers document!
November 5th, 2020: since I wasn't missing any powers from the psipathic discipline of power, as best as I can tell at least, I have started the process of reconstituting the Universal Heroes micro-expansion dedicated to those abilities. This took me quite some time, but hey, at least this thing's lacking any unforeseen errors due to power changes over time.
November 4th, 2020: the portion of my work on the Manual of the Psi's micro-expansions that I've been dreading, the psipathic discipline of power is... involved. It's got forty-nine powers in it, after all, and I could probably shoe-horn a few more in if I were so inclined. But I'm not, so since I seem to have them all in hand, it's time to go!
November 3rd, 2020: duplicating the effort I perpetrated against the Universal Heroes variation on this theme, I've rebuilt the 4C System: Edition 13 variation on the Psimotive Powers micro-expansion to my Manual of the Psi. Again, didn't have to add any powers, just rebuild the extant roster of such to nix any inaccuracies that've developed over the years.
November 2nd, 2020: since I don't need to add any new powers to the mix, all I need to do with the Universal Heroes variation on the Psimotive Powers micro-expansion is borrow all the text from each ability from the Powers document of that same flavor, and plug it in. Of course, I have to remove the non-Manual power details, but that's not a big deal.
November 1st, 2020: keeping on with the drugery that is my recompiling of the Manual of the Psi power discipline micro-expansions, I've begun to ensure that I've got all the psimotive powers present in each of the variations on the related material. Oddly enough, I hadn't forgotten any, so rebuilding both of these should be a (relative) snap.
October 31st, 2020: almost half way through my effort to rehabilitate my micro-expansions for the Manual of the Psi, I've rebuilt the 4C System: Edition 13 variation on the Psimantic Powers on this Technoholic afternoon. Added Logos to the mix, and then replaced every power description to eliminate any potential inaccuracies they may've accured over time.
October 30th, 2020: since I know what I'm supposed to do here, I've gone ahead and rebuilt the Universal Heroes variation on the Psimantic Powers document today. I've freshly poured each psimantic power into the mix, naturally adding Logos to the equation, and verified that I didn't catastrophically break anything in the process of fixing it up.
October 29th, 2020: moving along through my extant micro-expansions for the Manual of the Psi, I've performed the prep work required to overhaul my dedicated roster documents for the psimantic discipline of power. It would appear that I've already added most of the more recent power creations to the mix, only missing Logos so far. So this'll go kinda fast.
October 28th, 2020: completing the effort I began two days ago, I've ended my work on the psikinetic discipline of power by rebuilding the 4C System: Edition 13 variation on the Psikinetic Powers micro-expansion of the Manual of the Psi today. I relisted every extant art, talent, and skill from scratch, added Matter Duplication, and fixed a problem with Force Blast.
October 27th, 2020: since I'm only one power short, I've rebuilt the Universal Heroes variation on the psikinetic powers micro-expansion today. Thus, all forty-eight psikinetic abilities are now properly represented in this version of the document, as opposed to the forty-seven that were there before. I didn't see any weird errors what needed fixing, either.
October 26th, 2020: switching back to my rules stuff, I've begun compiling the full list of psikinetic powers that should be present in both variations on the Psikinetic Powers document. As it sits, the micro-expansions for that discipline only appear to be missing the Matter Duplication power, since that's a recent addition to the Manual. Yay!
October 25th, 2020: with the 1990 Cobra personnel and equipment all done, I am left with but one task to complete. And that, that is the creation of the text file archive for this band of villains! October 24th, 2020: wrapping up my work on the 1990 Cobra roster at long last, I've finally managed to produce a description of Overlord. This was tricky, because he seemed to have two disparate stories depending on which continuity branch you referred to, and it seems he was originally supposed to be a returning Cobra Commander, though that was changed at some point. Hrm.
October 23rd, 2020: out of 1990 and 1991 Cobra equipment to cover, I am continuing on with my coverage of their 1992 gear today. And admittedly I cheated a bit, borrowing much of the text for my Liquidator descriptions from GI Joe's Storm Eagle, since they're both incredibly similar in capability despite their different designs - even on their blueprints!
October 22nd, 2020: starting my final round of work on the 1990 Cobra roster, I've (finally) completed my descriptions of the Hurricane pilots known as Vapors. There was confusion regarding whether or not this was one Cobra or a whole class of them, but since their file card wasn't specific either way, I leaned on the latter for my work with these villains.
October 21st, 2020: completing my penultimate round of work on the 1990 GI Joe personnel roster, I've cleaned up my descriptions of Captain Grid-Iron. I think I've already gone through him once, since I didn't see all the problems I have been on the other '90 Joes so far, but he still had a few. Either way, I've ironed them all out now. Enjoy!
October 20th, 2020: since I'm all out of 1990 GI Joe vehicles, I'm dipping my toes into that team's 1991 equipment roster. I've started this effort by rehabilitating my descriptions of the Badger, something of a heavily modified, neon green assault Jeep. I have Modernized its text, streamlined it just a bit, and then added its 4C System: Edition 13 variation.
October 19th, 2020: switching over to the GI Joe reference, I've overhauled another member of that team from its 1990 roster! Today has seen me Modernize what I'd written for Cold Front, and bring all three variations on this theme more in line with what I've been doing, uh, everywhere else on the 13. Only three more of these guys to go. Yay!
October 18th, 2020: I lost my motivation and/or ability to work on this for quite a while, but at long last I've finished rebuilding the 4C System: Edition 13 variation on the Metapsi Powers document. All forty-nine metapsionics are now resident on this micro-expansion for the Manual of the Psi, which means I can now focus on character work for a bit.
October 17th, 2020: today I have rebuilt the Universal Heroes variation on the Metapsi Powers document. Offhand I can't remember exactly how many new powers I've added to this document, but the roster of these now sits at forty-nine, so that's definitely a bunch of metapsionic variety. And now onward - to the 4C System: Edition 13 variation on this theme!
October 16th, 2020: continuing along on my micro-expansions for the Manual of the Psi, I've begun by compiling my list of metapsi powers, so that I can update the two power rosters dedicated to that discipline of power. It looks as though I hadn't made too many changes to the metapsionic power roster, but I'm manually rebuilding them from scratch, just in case.
October 15th, 2020: finishing the first of nine discipline documents that required fixing, I rebuilt the 4C System: Edition 13 variation on the Empathic Powers document. Since the roster of empathic powers for the 4C System is the same as it is for the Universal Heroes one, this was mostly me producing the same work I did yesterday. But at least it's done!
October 14th, 2020: today I have rebuilt the Universal Heroes variation on the Empathic Powers document. Overall, this only added one new power to the mix, Gestalting, but I noticed an inexplicable error with Animal Hybridization / Others. At some point I had it defined as a 'talent', but it was supposed to be an 'art'. Fixed that here and in the Powers documents.
October 13th, 2020: moving along to my micro-expansions for the Manual of the Psi, I've begun by compiling my list of empathic powers, so that I can update the two power rosters dedicated to that discipline of power. October 12th, 2020: though I should've done this work when I first revised the two micro-expansions I built for the Deionomicon, I've nonetheless rebuilt both of their power rosters for the 4C System: Edition 13 variation on that theme today. So I guess I'm finally done with this business, and both versions of the Deific Powers and Faith Powers documents are solid.
October 11th, 2020: while I cleaned up the tiny bits of text in the Deific Powers and Faith Powers documents, I never got around to rebuilding their power rosters from scratch, which sort of defeated the purpose of hitting them before. Sigh. So, bearing that in mind, I went ahead and wrapped up the Universal Heroes variation on these files today. So, halfway done, then?
October 10th, 2020: slowly creeping towards completion of my 1990 Cobra roster of personnel and vehicles, I've produced descriptions of the Range-Viper, those Cobra survivalists who seem to be confused with Rock-Vipers by the manufacturer with some frequency - hence the similarities in both uniforms and equipment assignments over the years.
October 9th, 2020: since I'm all out of 1990 and 1991 Cobra vehicles, I suppose it's time that I move on to their 1992 equipment roster! I've started work on this gear by providing a description of the Earthquake, a sort of weaponized front loader that has a surprising amount of features for such a ride, and I find I like this unique Cobra vehicle. I hope you do too!
October 8th, 2020: wrapping up this Technoholic month, I've added yet another class of Cobra to their 1990 equipment and personnel roster! These are the SAW-Vipers, those large and tough Cobras who gleefully wield their Squad Attack Weapons (hence the name) in battle, whether offensively or defensively. All three variations include all five SAW-Viper figures!
October 7th, 2020: Freefall is a 1990 GI Joe operative that I'd already built a 4C System: Edition 13 variation for, and I thought I'd cleaned up his descriptions nicely. Clearly, I was mistaken, for he needed a ton of Modernization work yet. He was otherwise Streamlined, though, and did not require Condensation, as his 2016 figure is surplus to requirements.
October 6th, 2020: skipping ahead just a bit for nefarious purposes, as I've done a lot this Technoholic month, I rehabilitated my descriptions of the Barracuda, Streamlining and Modernizing their text, and adding a 4C System: Edition 13 variation on this theme. Oh, and I also merged this with my description of the 2000 Man-O-War, because Condensation, y'all!
October 5th, 2020: swapping back to my GI Joe reference, I started in on the last six pack of Joes that still need revising. The first of these fellows is Major Storm, who only ever had two action figures, the latter of which was a convention exclusive I resisted adding until, oh, today. But that I have done, along with a lot of Modernization and Streamlining.
October 4th, 2020: completing my work to revise the micro-expansions related to the Book of Magic, I've overhauled the Saga System 13 and
redacted Fnord ruleset's variations on the Uncategorized Spells documents. That just leaves the Entreaty Spells roster, which isn't actually done yet, so I don't need to worry about proofreading it yet. Yay! And now: onward!
October 3rd, 2020: blasting my way through the last bits of micro-expansions for the Book of Magic that need (re)proofreading, I have sorted out the Universal Heroes and 4C System: Edition 13 variations on the Uncategorized Spells documents. Since I banged my way through this text in the first place, I'm not surprised I found some errors. But I fixed them!
October 2nd, 2020: completing my work on the Book of Magic's thirteen elucidations on mystic schools, I have (re)proofread the 4C System: Edition 13 variation on the school of Voodoo. Fixed the same batch replacement error that was on the other version of this file, then wrapped up by rebuilding its spell roster, since there weren't any grammar problems I could find.
October 1st, 2020: the last batch of school-based micro-expansions to the Book of Magic, the Universal Heroes variation on my Voodoo school elucidation has been sorted out. All I found wrong here was an artifact from a batch replacement I did on all my custom rules files that didn't work out. Whoops! Fixed that and the Voodoo spell roster, and then moved on.
September 30th, 2020: completing my most recent proofreading efforts on the elucidation on thaumentalism spells documents, I've overhauled the 4C System: Edition 13 variation on this micro-expansion to the Book of Magic. Made the same changes to this one I did on the original, and then rebuilt its spell roster as well, letting me put it to rest also. Yay!
September 29th, 2020: moving on to the Thaumentalist School documents, I've cleaned up the Universal Heroes variation on this micro-expansion to the Book of Magic. Discovered two distinct problems with the grammar in the character generation example, and fixed them. And then rebuilt the spell roster for this school from scratch. Ahh, close to completion!
September 28th, 2020: wrapping up the Technomancy School micro-expansion for my Book of Magic, I've worked over the 4C System: Edition 13 variation on this theme. Found one minor conversion artifact that needed touching up, but other than that the text for this one was good. So I rebuilt its spell roster from top to bottom, and now we're all done with this one. Again.
September 27th, 2020: once more starting up a big batch of proofreading, I've taken the first of two Technomancy Spells documents to task. I've proofread the Universal Heroes variation on this theme today, and only saw one big omission that needed sorting out. After that, I rebuilt the technomancy spell roster from scratch, making this document happy again.
September 26th, 2020: once more sneaking ahead a bit, with completely good aims in mind, I assure you, I've gone over my 2000 character descriptions of Rip It, and vastly overhauled them. They are now Modernized and vaguely Streamlined, and feature both his 2007 action figure and a 4C System: Edition 13 variation on his awful, awful theme. I so loathe Rip It.
September 25th, 2020: I went to condense the Air Commandos glider and the Night Vultures glider into a single entry, when I realized I'd simply cut and pasted their entire texts from the old 1983 Falcon glider. Since all of these are functionally identical (glider with machine gun attached to the front), I just mashed all three together into one entry. Huzzah!
September 24th, 2020: slowly creeping my way towards the completion of the 1990 Cobra roster of personnel and equipment, I've completed a description of the funky-looking Laser-Viper today. Sure, they were a lot easier than the train wreck that was my Night Creeper elucidation, but these guys still took a bit of work. Work that is, as of now, all sorted out. Yay!
September 23rd, 2020: continuing my effort to rehabilitate my prototypical GI Joe Condensation and Modernization efforts, I've gone over Pathfinder's three variations with a fine-toothed comb. He required no Streamlining, but his Modernization efforts were clearly a failure. Sigh. Went ahead and added his new, 2016 action figure for good measure. Only six more to go!
September 22nd, 2020: since I rehabilitated my description of Updraft yesterday, I figured I should clean up his ride today! Thus, his Retaliator helicopter has been Streamlined and Modernized. Also, this was the last 1990 GI Joe vehicle or soldier description that required a 4C System: Edition 13 variation. So we're almost done with this gaggle, now!
September 21st, 2020: once more turning to character work, I have revised my description of Updraft today. There's only been one GI Joe figure released based on this character ever, so I didn't have to do any Condensation work on him. He mostly required Modernization and Streamlining, not to mentinon the creation of his 4C System: Edition 13 variation.
September 20th, 2020: I didn't have to proofread the text for the
redacted Fnord ruleset's variation on the School Spells document, because for some reason I hadn't actually made it yet. So, I went ahead and crafted it, which didn't take too long, simply ensuring that I hadn't inserted any conversion artifacts, and I don't believe that I did. Onward!
September 19th, 2020: over the hump, as it were, I've gone over the Saga System 13 variation on my School Spells documents. As was the case with the Edition 13 one, the main text itself was good, being that it was identical. Thus, I just had to ensure I lacked any conversion artifacts in the 'developing new mystical schools' suggestion text. And I did!
September 18th, 2020: pursuing completion of the last 'big' Book of Magic expansion, I've gone over the 4C System: Edition 13 variation on the School Spells document. I designed all four of these things to be 'rules lite,' so I only had to verify a few bits weren't harboring conversion errors, and it looked like they weren't. So onward to the third of these!
September 17th, 2020: moving along to one of the larger portions of this proofreading cycle, I've gone over the Universal Heroes Variation of the School Spells document. This one's different than the other spell type documents, as it doesn't contain the school spell rosters so much as it's a roster of magic schools, but this one was pretty good.
September 16th, 2020: what do you know, I've completed 10/13 of the revisions to my school spell elucidations for the Book of Magic, for I've done a pass through the 4C System: Edition 13 variation on my physiomancy document. I actually found a typo I'd missed up until now, and having fixed that, I did the whole 'rebuild the spell roster from scratch' thing.
September 15th, 2020: moving on to the tenth of my thirteen elucidations on magic schools to support my Book of Magic, I've gone over the Universal Heroes variation on my physiomancy micro-expansion today. The text seemed solid, and the character generation example didn't have any grievous errors, so I just rebuilt the school spell roster and called it a day.
September 14th, 2020: continuing this second of last block of micro-expansion revisions for my Book of Magic, I've similarly overhauled the 4C System: Edition 13 variation on the philosophical magic elucidation. Rebuilt the spell roster from scratch, proofread the text to make sure I didn't bungle anything, and made a comparable addition to the one I did yesterday.
September 13th, 2020: beginning my penultimate block of work to revitalize the Book of Magic's micro-expansions, I've worked over the elucidation on the Universal Heroes variant on the philosophical magic document. I actually found an important omission that I have sorted out, and as always, I rebuilt the spell roster for this school from scratch.
September 12th, 2020: skipping ahead since everyone else in her release year was complete, I've crafted character descriptions of Vypra today. Which was a bit of an undertaking, since she has several dueling backgrounds, one of which even mentions that fact. Oof. At any rate, all three variations on this villainess - or dyad of such - are now yours for the taking!
September 11th, 2020: as my 1990 Cobra vehicle descriptions are complete, I am once again working ahead, into the 1991 arsenal. And today's work is the Cobra Battle Copter, which necessitated my covering the GI Joe Battle Copter, then compressing these two and their 1992 variations onto them into a single version, and then making a 4C System: Edition 13 variation on them!
September 10th, 2020: it took some doing, but I've finally completed the 1990 Cobra description I dreaded the most: that of the Night Creepers! A criminal organization in its own right, Cobra has contracted its espionage operations out to these ninja financiers, an action which has inextricably linked the two groups together, even if they dislike each other.
September 9th, 2020: starting out yet another Technoholic month with aplomb, I've revised my original, prototypical efforts to clean up my descriptions of Rampart. I'd already produced a 4C System: Edition 13 variation on the man, but I had to clean up his descriptions stylistically, modernize 'em a bit, and add in his new to me, 2018 action figure.
September 8th, 2020: continuing my effort to rein in the problems with my 1990 GI Joe roster, I've cleaned up the Mobile Battle Bunker today. It didn't need Condensing, and I didn't bother Streamlining its text, so there was only a bit of modification required - though I could've done a bit more as well, probably. Added an Edition 13 variation, as well.
September 7th, 2020: switching gears over to more character work, I've overhauled my description of Topside today. This 1990 Joe has seen his descriptions Condensed, Modernized, and Streamlined, and I've added a 4C System: Edition 13 variation to his works. For just a sailor with a submachine gun and a bad temper, this took quite a while!
September 6th, 2020: once more plugging away at material for my
redacted Fnord rule set that you can't actually see right now, I've revitalized the Group Spells document for that system's eventual Book of Magic variation. Told myself I wouldn't build my big books for that set of rules until I'd covered all the translations of my core rules, so that'll be a while yet.
September 5th, 2020: working my way through an easier spell roster than the first three, which had fifty each, I've rebuilt the Saga System 13 Group Spells document pretty much from scratch. Its text was fine, and I'm starting to think they're all about identical on all four of these, so I really only had to just reconstitute its spell roster from nothing.
September 4th, 2020: proceeding apace, I've worked on the Group Spells micro-expansion for my 4C System: Edition 13 variation on the Book of Magic. Rebuilt the spell roster from scratch, which didn't take nearly as long as those in the Personal Spells, Universal Spells, and Dimensional Spells documents. The text on this one was just fine.
September 3rd, 2020: moving along, I've started my work on the four variations on the Group Spells document today. Beginning with the Universal Heroes version of such, I rebuilt the group spells roster from scratch, and proofread the 'flavor' text for this form of magic spell. The text seemed fine, so with the roster done once more, this document is modernized!
September 2nd, 2020: sorted out the 4C System: Edition 13 variation on the paraprobabilitism micro-expansion for that system's Book of Magic today. Rebuilt the spell roster, only to find I'd dedicated 'thaumaturgical absorption' as a spell in this school on the Powers documents, but not these. And the spell tables didn't include it, so I lopped it off. Sorry!
September 1st, 2020: what do you know, it's another new month - how fast the time flies, eh? Scooting on in my effort to finalize the text in my many and various micro-expansions to my custom rules, I've sorted out the Universal Heroes variation on the paraprobabilitism eluciation today. The text was perfect, and all that needed fixing was the spell roster.
August 31st, 2020: wrapping up my work on the geomancy micro-expansions for my Book of Magic, I've gone through the 4C System: Edition 13 variation on this theme. Found one conversion artifact I missed the first time through, but other than that this fellow seemed solid. So I rebuilt the geomantic spell roster from top to bottom and called it a day. Yay!
August 30th, 2020: switching gears as is my wont, I've begun work on another batch of micro-expansions what need error checking! Today I started work on the geomancy elucidation for my Book of Magic, and actually managed to find one error in the Universal Heroes variation on that theme. So I fixed that, and rebuilt the geomantic spell roster from scratch.
August 29th, 2020: wrapping up this batch of updates to my GI Joe reference, I've also completed a description of the last uncovered vehicle from the 1991 Cobra roster today. This was the Paralyzer, something of a low-rider tracked vehicle with the ability to tilt its treads to elevate its firing platform, and some RFI emitting missiles I guess. Hence the name?
August 28th, 2020: about a decade ago in my electronic mail, I received a request to complete a description of Cobra's Decimators. Though it's very, very late, I've finally produced one, covering the drivers of the Hurricane. Like most vehicle operators, there isn't a whole lot to these guys, but I scraped up every detail about these folks that I could. Hope it's good!
August 27th, 2020: finally adding something new to the 13 once more, I've plugged in details of the various Rock-Viper action figures into the 1990 Cobra roster. There were four of these released in all, though they're kind of weird because they blur the line with Range-Vipers on several occasions, almost as if someone at Hasbro was mixing the two up. Odd.
August 26th, 2020: moving on to Rapid-Fire, he at first looked like he was in good shape. But then I dug a bit deeper and saw what had gone wrong in all three of his variations, so I took the time to sort those out. He required no Condensation nor Modernization, but I'd somehow done just about everything with him wrong. But hey, at least he's all fixed up now!
August 25th, 2020: I thought that cleaning up the Locust would be easy, since it's such a small ride. But no, this was totally not the case. In addition to Modernizing this tiny helicopter's descriptions and building its 4C System: Edition 13 variation, I also had to Condense its 2003 BTR variation into the original, 1990 model equipment profiles. Bleah!
August 24th, 2020: starting up another chain of updates to my GI Joe reference, I've Modernized, Streamlined, and Condensed my description(s) of Sub-Zero. This took me an unfortunate amount of time, because just about everything having to do with this character was written in a fashion that I simply detest these days. So I guess I almost rebuilt him from scratch.
August 23rd, 2020: wrapping up my rework on the Dimensional Spells documents, I've rebuilt the fifty spell spell roster of such for the
redacted Fnord rule set. Yeah, once again, you have no idea what said rules entail, but one of these days I'll finally be able to go public with them, after a fashion, and you can see for yourself what my hubbub is all about.
August 22nd, 2020: in the penultimate chapter of my work on the many and various Dimensional Spells micro-expansions, I've rebuilt the fifty spell spell roster for the Saga System 13 variation on this theme. I had a few issues with this one, but they were mostly a result of the migraine I've been dealing with the last few days, and were fixed on a second pass.
August 21st, 2020: continuing the last big slog through my Book of Magic's micro-expansions, I've rebuilt the fifty spell spell roster for the 4C System: Edition 13 variation on the Dimensional Spells document. I wish I could have just cut and pasted this and done a conversion, but sadly there are just enough spells named differently in this one, so I couldn't.
August 20th, 2020: starting up the third huge micro-expansion slog, I've rebuilt the Universal Heroes variation on my Dimensional Schools document today. Proofed the flavor text blurb, fixing capitalization issues, and then rebuilt the fifty spell spell roster from scratch, if only to be sure I hadn't bungled any details since I first made this.
August 19th, 2020: completing my second pass-through of the 4C System: Edition 13 variation on the faerie school micro-expansion, I've checked and rechecked and second guessed and triple guessed my point totals on the Tricksy Bixie. Once I decided that I'd fixed them once and for all, I rebuilt the faerie spell roster and called it a day. Yet again.
August 18th, 2020: I began work on the faerie school micro-expansions for my Book of Magic, at least where the Universal Heroes rules are concerned. Rebuilt the spell roster, of course, and then went about (re) proofreading. Discovered that I'd bungled the point total on my character generation example, though, and thus had to refine the Tricksy Bixie quite a bit.
August 17th, 2020: I wrapped up my work revising the entreatism school of magic's micro-expansions, namely by (re)proofreading the 4C System: Edition 13 variation on that theme. Just like last time, I didn't spot any grievous errors, or any errors to speak of, so all I really had to do was rebuild this file's spell roster from scratch. Which is easier than what's coming.
August 16th, 2020: once more resuming my work on the many micro-expansions to the Book of Magic, I've (re)proofread the entreatism spells micro-expansion for my Universal Heroes rules. I didn't see anything that needed revising, so I just went through the process of rebuilding this file's spell roster. All thirteen of them, I know, but it still took a while.
August 15th, 2020: since I'm all out of 1990 Cobra vehicles to cover, I guess I'll start in on 1991's! To this end, I've crafted a description of Cobra's Ice Sabre, which is a long, thin vehicle with a curious cockpit that rotates internally, so the three occupants can switch between various stations as is needed. Or something? Don't really know the score here.
August 14th, 2020: also taking me quite a while, I've got another new Cobra for you today! Well, technically they're Iron Grenadiers, for they are Undertow, the last of the original batch of Iron Grenadiers missing from the original Real American Hero toy line. Yay! Hope you like these villains, though they do fall somewhat on the tough side, truth be told.
August 13th, 2020: though it took me a lot longer than I would have liked, and I don't quite think I captured the zany mirth inherent to the character, as evinced by his file cards and appearances in the DiC GI Joe cartoons, I have finally completed my description of Metal-Head, my first Cobra operative original to the 1990 roster that I must cover!
August 12th, 2020: working my way back through my 'prototype' Modernization and Condensation efforts, I've cleaned up my descriptions of Salvo. Again. Sure, I was close when working my methods out here, but missed a few things. Sort of like I missed the 2017 Scoop action figure, the details of which I added when I added in Salvo's from that year. Sigh.
August 11th, 2020: as was the case with those built for the Avalanche, my descriptions of the Hammer were in a deplorable state. They required close to a full rewrite to properly Modernize and Streamline them, and then I had to Condense the Brawler II and the (new to the 13) SWAT RTV or whatever into the mix. Oh yeah, and produce the Edition 13 variation, too.
August 10th, 2020: firing up another round of GI Joe reference upgrades, I've Modernized and Streamlined my take on Stretcher. Like the Sky Patrol before him, he seemed to have a very old entry, as a lot of ancient material was in place here. The operative word being 'was', of course, as I've cleaned him all up, and given him some Edition 13 love!
August 9th, 2020: so I imagine you lot are tired of hearing about me working on my
redacted Fnord rule set, but I've done just that again today. As you can probably guess, I have revised its variation on the Universal Spells document today, getting it modernized and up to snuff, even if nobody can actually see the thing to verify that. Some day, y'all. Some day.
August 8th, 2020: I'm wrapping up this Technoholic month by almost completely rebuilding my Saga System 13 variation on the Universal Spells document. I've recompiled the universal spell roster from scratch, ensuring I had fifty of them in this version of the document, and cleaned up a bunch of errors in the various spell listings that start with the word 'Eldritch '.
August 7th, 2020: pressing on in my effort to finally be done with reworking my rules once and for all (ha ha), I've rebuilt the spell roster for the Universal Spells document that pertains to the 4C System: Edition 13! Sure, the actual proofreading was done yesterday, but I had to add durations to Opposition, Platforming, and uh, one other power I forgot. Heh.
August 6th, 2020: cleaning up the Universal Heroes Universal Spells document was precisely as much of a slog as I had expected. Sure, proofreading the system-agnostic text up front was easy enough, but replacing all fifty extant spells with fresh ones from the Powers document revealed problems with the Powers document, which I had to fix as well. Sigh.
August 5th, 2020: completing my work on the elementalism spell micro-expansion for my Book(s) of Magic, I've gone over the 4C System: Edition variation on this theme. On top of what I'd found to revise yesterday, I only dug up one more textual tic of mine what needed removing, and I've done that. And rebuilt the Edition 13 Elemental spell roster from scratch, of course.
August 4th, 2020: starting work re-verifying the text in another Book of Magic micro-expansion, I've gone over the Universal Heroes variation on the elemental school of magic. There was nothing critical what needed fixing, luckily, but I found a few bits of text flow I was nonetheless able to improve upon, so I did that before rebuilding its spell roster.
August 3rd, 2020: continuing this second block of work to revitalize my Book of Magic's micro-expansions, I've gone over the eclectic non-school of sorcery today, at least where Edition 13 of the 4C System is concerned. I found a few bits of grammar that could use tweaking, and then rebuilt its roster of thirteen spells from scratch. And now, on to the next school!
August 2nd, 2020: changing direction, as is my wont, I'm starting up another big block of (re)proofreading on Book of Magic micro-expansions. Today saw me starting with the Universal Heroes variation on the eclectic 'school' of magic, perfecting its text and rebuilding its spell roster. And after all those variations on the Personal Spells document, this wasn't so bad.
August 1st, 2020: completing this unusual cycle through my GI Joe upgrades, I modernized my take on the General. There was only one of these ever made, so all I had to do was make sure each device 'power' was written up correctly, and build the 4C System: Edition 13 variation. This leaves four 1990 Joes and four Joe vehicles to modernize, and ten Joes to look over!
July 31st, 2020: wrapping up my work on the Sky Patrol forever, I've cleaned up my character description of its final member, Static Line - not to be confused with Skyline, who is some sort of chili manufacturer, apparently. Anyway, I've overhauled this fellow from the ground up, and now all of these jokers can be considered truly Modernized. You're welcome!
July 30th, 2020: what do you know, I'm almost done with the Sky Patrol already. Or finally? Ughhhh. Anyway, I've cleaned up my description of the Sky Patrol's leader,
Skyline Skydive today. Unlike everyone else in this team, he actually received an action figure besides the 1990 and 2016 releases, which is saying something, considering how unloved these guys are.
July 29th, 2020: burning my way through revisions to the Sky Patrol team, I've cleaned up my description of Drop Zone today. This required streamlining and modernizing every sentence of text in his descriptions, adding details of his 2016 action figure variation, and then producing his 4C System: Edition 13 version. So much work to do here. Beh.
July 28th, 2020: hitting the halfway point of my sojourn through the Sky Patrol roster, I've rehabilitated my extant entry for Altitude. Aside from wondering why so many of these guys' names start with 'a', I've performed the usual upgrades to my old GI Joe character descriptions on him. And, rest assured, this was another ollllllllld work of mine.
July 27th, 2020: continuing my deviation from my normal GI Joe reference updates, I've streamlined and modernized my take on Airwave. In addition to this, I've added details from his 2016 action figure, as well as his 4C System: Edition 13 version. And as I clean these guys up, I realize just how olllllld this work was. So. Many. Things. Need. Fixing. On. Them.
July 26th, 2020: changing up how I am doing some of this GI Joe work, I thought I'd tackle an entire sub-team of Joes at once. Starting with Airborne 2, the first of the 1990 Sky Patrol, I've modernized and streamlined all of this guy's description, which basically involved rewriting it from scratch. Oh yeah, and there's the Edition 13 variation on him, too.
July 25th, 2020: yeah, I thought I was happy with my revisions to the Avalanche, but I have compressed the text I used to describe that vehicle on further thought. A lot of these 1990 Joe and Joe gear descriptions are unnecessarily bloated, so I excised a lot of fluff that hindsight tells me is unnecessary. Expect a lot more of this work in the near future.
July 24th, 2020: I've wrapped up my work to overhaul and freshen up the Personal Spells documents by rebuilding its roster of such magic from the ground up for my
redacted Fnord rule set. Nobody has seen this particular document before, as there's no direct link to the thing, but at least it's now as modern as the other three variations on this theme.
July 23rd, 2020: continuing on through the massive slog of rebuilding each roster of fifty personal spells, I've reassembled that within the Saga System 13 Personal Spells document today. I'm not sure anyone can even see this document right now, since I don't have any of my character generation expansions done for Saga yet, but it'll be ready when I am, I guess.
July 22nd, 2020: since 4C System: Edition 13 variation on the Personal Spells document is alraedy (re)proofread, I was simply left to rebuild its spell roster from scratch. And that's exactly what I did today, though 'simply' probably isn't the right word for this kind of work. Not complex, either, so much as 'tedious.' The things we at Technohol 13 do for you!
July 21st, 2020: changing gears ever so slightly, I have sorted out the Universal Heroes variation on the Personal Spells documents. There was very little text to proofread, which is identical over all four variations of this thing, but the true time sink was in manually rebuilding the roster of personal spells. Oh boy, did that take me a long time.
July 20th, 2020: ending my work on the clericism school for the applicable Book of Magic micro-expansion once and for all, I've proofread the 4C System: Edition 13 variation on that theme. Of course, the real time consumer was rebuilding the school spell roster from scratch, in the event that inconsistencies had slipped in over the course of my powers works.
July 19th, 2020: with my alchemy writings put to bed again, I started on the second of the thirteen school micro-expansions for my Book of Magic. Today saw me sort out the Universal Heroes variation on the clericism school, though I really only found one relatively meager thing what needed fixing at this point. And that was really a matter of opinion.
July 18th, 2020: continuing my effort to put all twenty or so micro-expansions written for the Book of Magic to bed once more, I've (re)proofread the 4C System: Edition 13 variation on the alchemy school micro. Which turned out to be a good thing, as I found numerous abilities in the Edition 13 Powers document that didn't state they were alchemy spells. Sigh.
July 17th, 2020: getting back on my rules works, even though the primary proofreading outside my Powers documents is as of yet un(re)done, I've started in on the Book of Magic's micro-expansions. Today, I (re)proofread the Universal Heroes variation on the expansion I built for the school of alchemy, and rebuilt its admittedly meager spell roster from scratch.
July 16th, 2020: to wrap up this oddball cycle of GI Joe Handbook work, I'm adding a description of one more Cobra vehicle to the mix. Since I'm out of 1989 Cobra rides, it's time to do another from 1990, which wound up being the Hammerhead, a particularly involved hunk of hardware. But what do you know, that's the last one from 1990 that needed coverage, as well. Woo!
July 15th, 2020: so the '89 Cobra roster is all wrapped up. Woo! That just leaves me with one thing to do before I can put the nail in its coffin, and that's to produce the text file archive of these villains, and the associated 'read me' file that I like to include with them. So, now, you can have all of these jokers with just two clicks. You're welcome!
July 14th, 2020: wrapping up my efforts on the 1989 Cobra roster (yay!), I've revised my description of the TARGAT. These Trans-Atmospheric Rapid Global Assault Troopers are the most elite of the Iron Grenadiers, and are one of the few 'minion' types I gave an 'edge' of greater than zero in my Saga character descriptions. But I think it's warranted here.
July 13th, 2020: to wrap up this particular 'cycle' of GI Joe activity, I've started my work on the Modernization of a 1990 Joe ride. Today's focus is on the Avalanche, a bizarre, treaded cold weather combat vehicle with a small, one-man aircraft hidden inside! Cleaning this up took some work, as I think it was one of my earlier Joe vehicle descriptions.
July 12th, 2020: since the 1989 GI Joe roster of personnel and equipment is now cleaned up and more to my liking, I've rebuilt the text file archive of this material. I'm slowly fixing these as I revise all of my extant GI Joe descriptions, and now the '89 stuff is available for use in your game, all with two clicks of your mouse. Am I not lovely?
July 11th, 2020: wrapping up my efforts on the 1989 GI Joe roster, I've Modernized the last Joe from that calendar year: Scoop! I wasn't a big fan of this fellow, truth be told, and I became even less of a fan of him when I finally saw the DIC cartoon mini-series featuring him. But hey, at least he's more readily available for your gaming use, now.
July 10th, 2020: with the 4C System: Edition 13 variation on the Book of Magic put to bed, you know, again, there's just one more task that needs completing. That's pouring all of that verbiage into the text file downloadable for that system, the better to keep all my work in parity. So now that this is done, we're to all the various micro-expansions!
July 9th, 2020: at last, I've completed my (re)proofreading of both versions of the Book of Magic, as I've pored through the (recently) unproofed text in the 4C System: Edition 13 variation on such, and finally wrapped things up. Noted a few rulesy snarls that needed sorting out, but I'm not sure anyone would have noticed them, so... bonus, right?
July 8th, 2020: I've blazed through the character generation portion of the Book of Magic's 4C System: Edition 13 variation, and didn't find much of anything what needed tweaking. But then I've been sorting out all the issues that needed sorting in all the other character generation books, and knew what few bits needed to be revised still, so hey.
July 7th, 2020: continuing on in my (re)proofreading of the 4C System: Edition 13 variation on the Book of Magic, I have moved through the final seven of the thirteen schools of magic. I tripped over a few small bits what needed revising, at least according to my 20/20 hindsight, but overall I can't complain about the verbiage here too much. Yay!
July 6th, 2020: with the first version of my Book of Magic (re)proofread, it's time to begin work on the other. Mirroring my Universal Heroes effort, I have perused the intial flavor text for the 4C System: Edition 13 variation on the Book, and have also gone through the first six of the thirteen schools. Only minor issues found thus far, which is good.
July 5th, 2020: the Universal Heroes variation on my Book of Magic is now copacetic. Again again again. So, with that managed, I've poured all that text into the Universal Heroes text file downloadable, so that I've got everything archived upon pulling the trigger on the .pdf making of all my rules works. Whenever I finally get around to doing that, that is.
July 4th, 2020: happy America day! I'm working ahead a bit, so here's hoping there are actually some nice celebrations this year, what with the Slowpocalypse putting the kibosh on everything. Speaking of dishing out kiboshes, I've done that with the Universal Heroes variation on my Book of Magic, having finished my final (?) pass through it today!
July 3rd, 2020: blasted through the character generation portion of the Universal Heroes variation on my Book of Magic today, and didn't find a whole lot what needed fixing. Mostly the same turns of phrase that I didn't appreciate in like sections of my other character generation works, truth be told, so I knew what to look for by now. And they were fixed.
July 2nd, 2020: resuming my final (?) pass through the Universal Heroes variation on the Book of Magic, I've perused the last seven schools of magic. Just like yesterday, I found most of the text was to my liking, which meant I only had a few meager things which needed revising. I find myself wondering if I've proofed this more recently than I thought.
July 1st, 2020: cracking open my last major work that needs (re)proofreading, Powers document(s) aside, I've started my final (?) pass through the Book of Magic. Starting with the Universal Heroes variation on this theme, I've breezed through the initial flavor text, and the first six schools of magic, and only had some minor quibbles with the text as-is.
June 30th, 2020: Since I'm all done with 1989 Cobra vehicles, I guess I'll fill in this writing 'slot' with one from 1990. And this one, the only Iron Grenadiers vehicle released in this year, is a nice complement to the TARGAT. This is because it's Destro's Dominator, which can transform between a regular ground ride and a helicopter in no time flat!
June 29th, 2020: switching over to Cobra half again, I've added another new class of villain to their 1989 roster. The TARGATs, or Trans-Atmospheric Rapid Global Assault Troopers, are probably the most extreme of Destro's Iron Grenadiers, but they're easily the most memorable. It's hard to forget someone who makes themselves a human meteor, after all!
June 28th, 2020: wrapping up work on my overhaul of the 1989 GI Joe vehicles, I've tweaked my extant descriptions of the Tri-Blaster. This tiny little beast is essentially a massive laser cannon mounted on a go-kart, with an engine/generator mighty enough to power both. I even whipped up a quickiety 4C System: Edition 13 variation on this theme!
June 27th, 2020: updating the penultimate GI Joe operative from 1989 what needs it, I've cleaned up my description of Recoil today. And he needed a lot of cleaning up. The man had just about every kind of device that I've revised my rules for, so aside from his background data, I almost had to rewrite him from the ground up. But he's all modernized now!
June 26th, 2020: okay, the Deionomicons are done. Yay! But I figured while I was at it, I'd breeze through the small bit of text from the Deific Powers and Faith Powers micro-expansion rosters. Sure, it was just a few paragraphs each, for each version of such, but it seemed like a good idea to put these to rest while I was 'in the area,' so to speak.
June 25th, 2020: putting the final touches on my Deionomicon revisions for 2020, I've upgraded the 4C System: Edition 13 text file downloadable to account for all the changes I perpetrated on this system's variation on these rules. Micro-expansions and the Powers documents aside, that just leaves the Book of Magic to go through again, doesn't it. Unless I already have!
June 24th, 2020: I wrapped up my (re)proofreading of the Deionomicon today, at least in its 4C System: Edition 13 flavoring. Oddly, I found a major void in the power stunts portion of the Transcendent Role Play rules. So, I wrote a quick blurb at the end of such to fix any confusion, and have once again called this text complete. I do so enjoy doing that.
June 23rd, 2020: the Divine Character Generation portion of the Deionomicon's 4C System: Edition 13 variation is now complete. Uh, again. Tweaked this and that, but for the most part everything here was now humming along happily. Just some weird issue with the 'gambling' text that I had to sort out, but other than that, it was little stuff at this point.
June 22nd, 2020: mirroring the work I performed four days ago, I've gone through the first portion of the 4C System: Edition 13 variation on the Deionomicon today. Sifted through its introductory and Deific Deviations text with the finest of fine-toothed combs, and have indeed wrung a few more improvements onto this text, which I shared with the first version.
June 21st, 2020: since my Universal Heroes variation on the Deionomicon is now complete, it's time to update that system's text file downloadable once more. As always, I lament the fact that probably nobody besides myself will be able to make use of this thing, but at the very least, I can once I start making .pdf files of my many and various rules works.
June 20th, 2020: I wrapped up my work on the Universal Heroes variationn on my Deionomicon today, namely by perusing the Transcendent Role Play portion of this book. Same thing as two days ago, found a couple minor oddities that required fixing, but overall I was very happy with what I wrought the first time around. You can tell I wrote this relatively recently. Heh.
June 19th, 2020: continuing my delve into the Deionomicon's text, I have finalized the text within the book's Universal Heroes variant where character generation is concerned. Made changes similar to those inflicted upon my other books thus far here, along with a few other tweaks that were unique to the divine entities that this work covers in such a detailed fashion.
June 18th, 2020: switching gears once more, I've started work on my (re)proofreading of the Deionomicon! I started this by working my way through the introductory text and the Deific Deviations portions of the Universal Heroes variant on this verbiage, and though I found a few bits to tweak here and there, I found that most of this was pretty on the spot.
June 17th, 2020: having sorted out Long Range's character description just yesterday, you can again probably guess what I'm covering today. That's right, I've cleaned up my entries for the one and only Thunderclap today! I sorted out a lot of its functional blurbs, and then built out its 4C System: Edition 13 variation today, which took me a bit.
June 16th, 2020: making an attempt to catch my 1989 GI Joe work up with my 1989 Cobra work, I've decided to upgrade another of the former's entries today. This outing saw me taking a crack at Long Range, and even though he didn't have too much 'crunchy' details, I still had to perform a massive amount of rework on his descriptions. Irksome, I say!
June 15th, 2020: with Hot Seat's character description revised, you could probably guess that I was going to overhaul what I'd written for the Raider today. And that's exactly what I have done! There were lots of twitchy, fiddly bits that I had to revise, because I hate how I wrote the blurbs for guns back in the day, but I'm cleaning 'em up one by one.
June 14th, 2020: once again slinking back to my GI Joe reference, I've upgraded another 1989 member of that team today. My extant entry for Hot Seat has now been overhauled, which wasn't too difficult, what with him being a vehicle operator. There's a lot of bits that I'm still finding what need revising in these folks, though, which is vexing.
June 13th, 2020: hey hey! Finally finishing the task at hand, I've poured all the refined verbiage from the Technical Reference's 4C System: Edition 13 variation into the text file downloadable for that rule set. That keeps us all current, and acts as yet another major milestone for this effort, which I'll be really, really happy to finish once and for all.
June 12th, 2020: zooming along, I've finished (re)proofreading the last portion of the 4C System: Edition 13's Technical Reference today, putting to rest its invention and campaign information. I once again homed in on a few things which could use tweaking, but for the most part the text here was pretty solid. Just clarification for the most part.
June 11th, 2020: passed through the 4C System: Edition 13 variation on the Technical Reference's character generation rules. Again, I'm pretty happy with this text, though I spotted a couple things that could use tweaking. You can tell I wrote this one a lot more recently than the core rules stuff, I imagine, since the verbiage was pretty tight, overall.
June 10th, 2020: since the other version of the Technical Reference is all done, I'm now going to plug away at the 4C System: Edition 13 variation on such. Since I'd forwarded the changes to the Universal Heroes version as I perpetrated them, I found very little what needed refining. But there were one or two such things, whose fixes were backported as well.
June 9th, 2020: started out this Technoholic month by completing my work on the Technical Reference's Universal Heroes variation. I mean yeah, the (re)proofreading is done, but all that material needs to go into the text file downloadable for this system once more. So that's what I did today, clearing the way for work on the other half of this rulesy coin.
June 8th, 2020: wrapped up my pass-through on the Universal Heroes rules' Technical Manual, breezing through the Creation and the Culmination portions of that work. Caught a few more things what needed fine-tuning, and have done precisely that. On the whole, there wasn't anything critical that needed fixing, but I like the text even more now.
June 7th, 2020: continuing on in my (re)proofreading task, I've combed through the Generation portion of my Technical Reference, at least within the Universal Heroes variation on that theme. I suppose that's the one I worked on yesterday, as well, though I hadn't actually mentioned that. Tweaked a few bits where enhancements are concerned, but that's about it.
June 6th, 2020: started work on the Technical Reference today, in an attempt to refine its extant text, and suss out any errors that I've been seeing in my other work of late. Today's effort entailed my going through the introductory text, as well as the Specification and Documentation verbiage. And, sadly, there were a few bits of grammar that needed tweaking.
June 5th, 2020: you can't cover Darklon without taking a look at his ride, now, can you? The Evader is an armored, recumbent motorcycle, armed to the teeth considering its relatively small size. This makes it the perfect implement to help Darklon engage in courier (smuggling) work, or to either enter or exit the battlefield alongside his troops.
June 4th, 2020: though I struggled with him, I've finally described Darklon for your gaming pleasure! This odd duck of a villain is the leader of his own rogue micro-nation, Darklonia, yet an utter mercenary at heart. This is why, despite hating being a part of the Cobra Command, Darklon joined at Destro's behest: the money was too good to refuse.
June 3rd, 2020: while its description was about as small as the vehicle itself, I seemingly had a mountain of work to perform in getting the Radar Rat's descriptions back up to snuff. It was literally only about five paragraphs, but I swear something serious was wrong with each and every one of them. Bleah! But at least that's done now. Again.
June 2nd, 2020: gazing back upon my GI Joe reference once more, I have refined my extant description of Downtown. This artillery expert received his first and only action figure in 1989, and I find he could've easily been an updated Short Fuze instead of an entirely new character. There were a bunch of other '82 figure updates this year, after all.
June 1st, 2020: completing my revision work on the Textbook Character Treatise, I've hammered the updates to it into the 4C System: Edition 13 text file downloadable. I guess that means that this book is ready to be converted into a .pdf file as well, once I get all the Powers documents in line again. Though that, that may take some time. Nooooooooo.
May 31st, 2020: wrapped up the 4C System: Edition 13's take on the Textbook Character Treatise today. I actually found some problems that needed fixing, particularly a few conversion errors from the adaption from my Universal Heroes text that somehow persisted over the years. Nobody told me about them, so I guess it's a good thing I tripped over 'em!
May 30th, 2020: mirroring the process I used the first time around, I worked my way through the character generation tables and rules for the Textbook Character Treatise's 4C System: Edition 13 variation. This went smoothly, as I didn't see any major issues. Just one quibble with text flow in the very last portion, the fix for which I naturally backported.
May 29th, 2020: since the other version of the Textbook Character Treatise is done, it looks like I have to knuckle down and get on the 4C System: Edition 13 variation on such. Started in much the same manner, wrapping up all the text up to the character generation tables and rules, and aside from a few Oxford comma problems, I think this was golden.
May 28th, 2020: so the Universal Heroes variation on my Textbook Character Treatise is all cleaned up, and even shinier than before. Yay! Thus, I've poured all the relevant data into the text file downloadable for that game system, keeping it up to date. Sure, you scoff at these text file updates, but you'll thank me when I can crank out .pdfs once I'm done!
May 27th, 2020: wrapped up my (re)proofreading of the Textbook Character Treatise's Universal Heroes variant today. Unlike the Technical Reference or the Book of Magic, this character generation guide didn't need a lot of fiddly bits to make it go, what with it representing the making of bog-standard heroes from comics, so it didn't take me forever.
May 26th, 2020: yesterday I'd worked up to the character generation portion of the Universal Heroes' Textbook Character Treatise, so I blazed through those texts and tables today. Decided on some refinements to wording, but no grammar issues, save for the hyphenation and punctuation issues that prompted their batch replacements earlier this month.
May 25th, 2020: with everything but my individual character generation guides and the powers documents (re)proofread, I have decided to take the easier route and begin my work to perfect the Textbook Character Treatise's text. The Universal Heroes variation on this theme isn't too bad, actually, with most of my fixes being rather quibbly in nature.
May 24th, 2020: with Dogfight sorted out, it seems as good a time as any to clean up the text for his ride. And boy, did the Mudfighter have a lot of text what needed refining! I can't prove it without looking waaaay back in the updates archives, but I think this thing (and its pilot) were some of the first '89 material I covered for GI Joe. Woog.
May 23rd, 2020: while I was originally going to describe Darklon here, I hit the wall on writing, so I figured I'd get on some of the 1989 GI Joes that required upgrading. And Dogfight's files were seriously outdated. Despite his only having one action figure ever for some silly reason, there was a whole lot of repair work necessary in his description.
May 22nd, 2020: I'm sure it seemed obvious, what with me having covered its drivers yesterday, but today's target was the Razorback. This Iron Grenadiers vehicle seems more inclined towards vehicle-to-vehicle combat than the DEMON, which appeared more like an artillery and/or anti-aircraft ride. So that's how I went about covering the thing.
May 21st, 2020: resuming my seemingly relentless focus on the teeming masses of Cobras, I've started work on the Iron Grenadiers portion of the 1989 roster. I've started out covering the Wild Boars, drivers of the strange and powerful Razorback vehicle, who only had one action figure ever. Which is odd, as Hasbro has recycled almost everyone else so far.
May 20th, 2020: wrapping up the big batch replacement error fix for 2020, at least I hope so, I've added hyphens to all my numbers ranging from sixty-one through ninety-nine. I'm not sure why I felt the need to unhyphenate those digits, much less write them out instead of just going short-hand with, say, 61 or 99, but they're all hyphenated now.
May 19th, 2020: since I've apparently been doing it wrong for decades, and intentionally I think, I went to the trouble of adding hyphens to all my numbers from twenty-one through fifty-nine. Sure, a lot of these didn't actually exist in my texts, but there were some that were all over the place. So I sorted them out once and for all.
May 18th, 2020: oh yeah, had another file alignment error between my laptop and my desktop, so I had to repeat the work I performed yesterday once I got everything up to date on the desktop. Mumblegrumble. But, I've put the kibosh on that weird punctuation and hyphenation problem I had going on, and can focus on a few other issues along this same line tomorrow.
May 17th, 2020: for some reason, I'd got it in my head that punctuation belongs inside parenthesis, when it was quotation marks that work that way. So I had to go and replace every instance of ,) with ), and .) with ). Beh. I also changed every instance of 'super hero' or 'super heroic' to 'super-hero' and 'super-heroic,' because that needed doing.
May 16th, 2020: at long last, my 'common' rules are now done. This is because I've poured the 4C System: Edition 3 variation on the Character Generation document's text into the text file downloadable for that game. Sure, I'll be back when I cover my Saga System 13 and
redacted Fnord rules, but for now all is right as rain, so to speak.
May 15th, 2020: as it turns out, I hadn't caught all the things that would irk my ire in my Character Generation documents, which is why I had to make numerous refinements to the 4C System: Edition 13 variation on such. Some of these were document-specific, but most applied to both of them, so I backported many of these back to the one I covered on the 13th.
May 14th, 2020: I do believe that I've made nice with the data in my Universal Heroes variation on the Character Generation document, so I've plugged that material into that system's text file downloadable. Assuming I caught everything that would irk my ire, I've just left myself the powers document(s), and other character creation guides to go!
May 13th, 2020: switching back to my rules works, I have proofread the last portion of my Universal Heroes material that isn't within a specific, dedicated character generation guide - though it itself is one, after a fashion. In case you were wondering, this was my Character Generation document, which covers building normal human adventurers!
May 12th, 2020: with me being out of 'regular' 1989 Cobra vehicles to cover, I've moved forward to the 1990 roster to bang out another of their sweet, sweet rides. This time I've covered the Dictator, the vehicle of some guy who was ostensibly supposed to be another guy in charge of Cobra, but, well, you never really hear about him, do you?
May 11th, 2020: with the 'regular' Cobras done for 1989, it's time to start focusing on the weirdos. The first of these is the sole Dreadnok that was released during that year, him being Gnawgahyde. An unrepentant poacher and card cheat, Gnawgahyde has adopted the Dreadnoks as his family, though they're just about the only group who would claim him.
May 10th, 2020: strangely continuing my additions to the GI Joe thing, I wrote up a description of the 1990 Hurricane. This VTOL aircraft seems a replacement for Cobra's Rattler, in that is a ground support vehicle that serves much the same job. And has almost all the same abilities. The only difference is that a Hurricane isn't based on an older fighter jet.
May 9th, 2020: turning my gaming gaze back to my GI Joe reference, I've completed a descrption of the 1989 Cobra HEAT-Viper. These day-glo missile launchers were the last 'regular' Cobras released during that year, making it like 1988, where the only 'named' Cobras were in special sub-groups. Not that I mind, as the nameless hordes are a bit easier to describe.
May 8th, 2020: one of the consistent issues I have seen in my effort to (re)proofread everything rules-y I have ever written is the preponderance of my use of the phrase 'to,' where the word 'to' would suffice. I've gone through and eliminated this from all my custom rules files in a massive batch replacement, 'to' make this effort easier. Heh.
May 7th, 2020: adding the revised material from the 4C System: Edition 13 version of the Living and Dying document to that system's text file downloadable, I've truly ended all my non-character generation rules that needed re-revising. Save for the eventual Judging / Mastering / Narrating / Plotting the game work I have in mind, that is. Ah, dreams, I have them.
May 6th, 2020: moving further through my (re)proofreading effort, I've cleaned up the 4C System: Edition 13 variation on the Living and Dying document. That means I'm all done with the 'core' rules for the time being, leaving me to work on the character generation materials I haven't already sorted out. And I've done a few of those, already, I think.
May 5th, 2020: with the Universal Heroes variation on the Living and Dying document cleaned up yet again, I've poured all of its pertinent material into the text file downloadable for that system. That gets us through all the standard rules that I've written thus far, at least for this game, and leaves only character generation stuff, I think!
May 4th, 2020: shambling along in my (re)proofreadery, I've gone over the Living and Dying document for my Universal Heroes rules compendium. For the most part this went well, aside from some missing Oxford commas, and one or two other oddities that I felt the need to refine. I've also ported these changes over to the Edition 13 variation of this, as well.
May 3rd, 2020: wrapping up my work on the Advanced Battle Document for now, I've poured the 4C System: Edition 13 data from its variation into the text file downloadable for that system. I haven't done a Saga System 13 or
redacted Fnord version of this yet, as that's where I ran out of gas in my 'writing for four games simultaneously' effort. Heh.
May 2nd, 2020: continuing on in my effort to (re)proofread all the rules work I have ever written, I have pored over the 4C System: Edition 13 variation on my Advanced Battle Concepts document. Found a tic or two that needed tweaking, but it seems the changes I've made to the Universal Heroes version, which I ported over to here, mostly did the trick.
May 1st, 2020: with the first variation on the Advanced Battle Concepts document cleaned up, I poured that data into the Universal Heroes text file downloadable. And it looks like we're getting close to the character generation portion of the rules. Yay! Sure, I don't hate the basic system or anything, but the making of characters is my favorite bits.
April 30th, 2020: jumping back on the rules work, since I'm trying to accomplish two things at once here, I've completed an overhaul of the Universal Heroes variation on the Advanced Battle Concepts document. Clipped an inordinate amount of 'to' grammatical tics, and cleaned up a few other poor verbal choices for good measure. Looking good now!
April 29th, 2020: since I'm out of 'regular' Cobra vehicles to cover for 1989, I've moved my attention forward, to 1990. Saving the Iron Grenadier stuff for when I hit their drivers, I've instead produced a description of the Pirahna, a one-man combat speedboat seemingly built to complement the Moray, having similar color scheme and weaponry.
April 28th, 2020: shuffling along through the 1989 Cobra roster, I've completed my description of another Viper today. This variety is the Night-Viper, experts in nocturnal combat and stealth operations, even if becoming so involves living in the dark and constantly sneaking upon on each other for practice. As long as it pays well, I suppose.
April 27th, 2020: since I've covered their pilots, I guess I should probably describe the Condor Z-25 fighter-bomber in detail. And today I've done just that! You can get this 1989 Cobra vehicle in three varieties over in the GI Joe reference, so check it out when you get a chance. I missed this one when it first came out, why should you?
April 26th, 2020: resuming work on the 1989 Cobra roster while my inspiration is high, I have concocted a description of the Aero-Viper, pilot of Cobra's Condor Z-25 fighter-bomber. These guys are a whole lot like Strato-Vipers, but achieve their results through intense physical and mental training, instead of mere surgical augmentations.
April 25th, 2020: with the
redacted Fnord version of the Time and Combat document wrapped up, I had to pour it into the text file downloadable for that still-forming game system. Mind you, I'd never actually done this before, so this took a bit more work (had to format a few tables and such), but now we can move on to other things. Yay.
April 24th, 2020: last but not least, I've cleaned up the
redacted Fnord variation on my Time and Combat document. I found a few conversion errors here, which didn't surprise me, but also a bunch of grammatical fixes that I backported to the other three versions of this thing. Which is vexing, but at least they're even better now.
April 23rd, 2020: since the Saga System 13 variation on the Time and Combat document is done, it's high time I pour what I have (re)wrought into the text file downloadable for this one. And that's exactly what I've done today, which brings me to something of a stopping point on the System 13 stuff, since I haven't done the core rules after this yet.
April 22nd, 2020: moving along with the eternal proofreading process, I have tidied up the Saga System 13 variation on the Time and Combat document. I removed a bunch of redundant words (apparently I enjoyed the 'to' preface to some sentences a lot too much when I was writing this page), and sorted out a few other minor issues, wrapping my work up on it.
April 21st, 2020: with the 4C System: Edition 13 version of the Time and Combat document reproofread, I've gone and worked all of its new data into the text file downloadable for that game system. And I am unhappy to report that I found plenty of things I missed on the 19th, when I covered the first, so this was a lot of material to move over.
April 20th, 2020: though it was a close one, I managed to (re)proofread the 4C System: Edition 13 variation on my Time and Combat documents before the end of the day today. And no, I wasn't late because of this particular date or anything. I'm just trying to adjust to my ridiculous new third shift schedule at work still, and doing a poor job of it.
April 19th, 2020: since the Universal Heroes variation on the Time and Combat document is done, I have gone and upgraded that system's text file downloadable with this most current of data. While I'm sure nobody actually uses these things, they'll really come in handy once I start up with the .pdf action, which I'll be doing once I'm done proofreading. Again.
April 18th, 2020: getting back on my rules work for a bit, I've (re)proofread the first of the four Time and Combat documents, this one for the Universal Heroes variation on my custom text. I found a diduressing amount of things what needed fixing, which I'm sure most people wouldn't have noticed or cared about. But what can I say? I definitely do.
April 17th, 2020: taking inspiration from the fact that Cobra's Hovercraft shares many parts with their Devastator, I basically stole a lot of the latter's text to forge the former. But both are small vehicles with similar offensive capabilities, so I don't feel too bad. And in time, nobody will even notice, so enjoy my description of the Hovercraft!
April 16th, 2020: though his ride is already covered, today seemed as good a time as any to produce a description of the Track-Viper. This operator of the Mark 2 HISS is somewhat less skilled in comparison to the HISS Driver they replaced, but are definitely just as tough and capable when operating their chosen ride - or fixing it when it breaks down.
April 15th, 2020: hey, it's Tax Day here in the states! Have you filed yours yet? The author hasn't! Stalling for time before he knuckles down and deals with that, he's wrapped up a quick description of the Devastator, one of the three Cobra vehicles from '89 he hasn't covered yet. Not counting those two Iron Grenadiers rides, that is. Fie.
April 14th, 2020: finding I liked the idea of these guys when I was initially browsing through the '89 Cobra roster, I've been wanting to try and cover the Frag-Viper for a while now. I probably should've been working on some more rules stuff, since it isn't going to (re)proofread itself, but here's another addition to the 13's write-ups anyway!
April 13th, 2020: my final work on the Space and Movement material, at least until my OCD forces me to proofread it a thirtieth time, I've plugged the new verbiage for that into the
redacted Fnord text file downloadable. Will all y'all ever get to see this? Who knows! Depends on whether or not I finish all my other rules work, I suppose.
April 12th, 2020: the third of four Space and Movement upgrades to the text file downloadables I host here at the 13, I've taken time out today to get the Saga System 13 material up to date once more. Ah, Saga, that which I'm about to dive into hard in the near future, circumstances allowing. Oh, the things I have in store for you. So many things.
April 11th, 2020: continuing to plug away at the relentless updates to my text file downloadables for the four rules systems I support, I've revised the 4C System: Edition 13 variation on such with the upgraded Space and Movement verbiage for it. Though tedious, these upgrades are necessary, so thank you for playing along while I crank them out.
April 10th, 2020: now that the anniversary hulabaloo is all done, it's back to work - at least, until the world puts a stop to that again. Since I've wrapped up work on the Space and Combat documents, it's time to plug that into the text file downloadables. And wouldn't you know it, I started in on the Universal Heroes variation on that theme today.
April 9th, 2020: so what do you know, it's now 2020, and here I don't have a flying car, a robot butler, or a man-portable death ray. As always, science fiction lies to us, the future only having given us the plague for our troubles. We truly live in the stupidest possible timeline, clearly having blundered down the wrong leg of the Trousers of Time.
Anyway, it's that time of year again, where Technohol 13 celebrates its birthday. Having existed for twenty-two entire years now, the site is ready to embark on its twenty-third. Sadly, I have no weird metric by which I can compare its age to anything else, but what can I say? I've kept the lights on here for far longer than I ever expected to. Go me!
Today, I took it upon myself to do the annual rollover of all the things, which involved me making a new Updates document, archiving the previous one, moving the year up all over the site (I think I got them all), and all the other odds and ends that building a site from scratch requires when updating the entire thing at once. Which isn't as ugly as it sounds.
That's not all, however. I've also gone to the trouble to complete my latest and greatest updates to the Space and Movement document(s), namely by finishing up the work required for the
redacted Fnord variation on that theme. What sucks for all y'all, though, is that you can't actually see the thing. Which makes for a crummy anniversary gift, eh?
Thus, I've whipped up another present for you, the Technoholic reader. You know, all four of you. Heh. To wit, I've put together a new description of a somewhat elite class of Cobra operative, the Alley-Viper! These urban combat experts first saw action in 1989, and have reappeared on and off ever since. Well, until 2010, as far as the Real American Hero line is concerned.
While I was at it, I went ahead and covered the 1990 Cobra vehicle known as the Cobra Rage, since the 1997 Alley-Viper was given it as a sweet, sweet ride. That was me jumping ahead just a bit, but that has the benefit of wrapping up the 1997 Cobra roster, however small it may be. I guess that's one good way to start out a Technoholic year, right?
As you can see, I haven't gotten very far with the whole GI Joe thing since last year. And that's bad, since the plan was to have gotten through at least 1991 by now. Sigh. Life has gotten in the way, though, and I lost several months of work due to various calamities that have befallen the Firebomb family. That and life in general has stymied my nerd time.
While I didn't quite manage to finish everything I would have liked over the last Technoholic year, I'm nonetheless quite proud of what I've accomplished, and hope you've managed to find some use for it. Though time grows ever more limited as the years progress, the hope is to continue serving you the Technoholic goods for a long, long time to come!
May Technohol 13's twenty-third year be a good one for all of us!
