As are most of his fellow Joes, Albert M. Pine is naught but a normal human, lacking ascendant abilities of any stripe. He has no mutant powers, psionic schooling, or even built-in devices - he just makes do with talent, training, and a whole lot of sheer determination.
Limitations / Enhancements:
Beretta SMG-12: his standard weapon in battle, Alpine always has one of these with him on the job. Alpine can discharge a single round with this weapon to inflict rank value 6 Piercing damage, or a fully automatic hail of lead to inflict rank value 20 Piercing damage.
Climbing Gear: vital to his military specialty, this gear allows Alpine to ascend most vertical surfaces in the wild. It includes rope, grappling hooks, crampons, pitons, a pickaxe, and occasionally a GR8-88 grappling hook rifle (to reach farther than he can throw).
Knife: vital for some climbing tasks, not to mention general military necessity, Alpine usually has one of these implements on his person. Made from m.v. 40 metals, it can be used to cut through items of like m.v., and can be wielded in melee to inflict Slashing damage.
Semi-Automatic Pistol: as a backup for his Beretta, Alpine also has at least one of these on his person in the field. Alpine can fire a single shot with this small hand-cannon to inflict rank value 6 Piercing damage, or rank value 10 Piercing damage in a semi-auto burst of fire.
Climbing: his true love, Alpine was a recreational climber before he enlisted. His recruiter ensured that Alpine was assigned to serve as a mountain trooper, allowing hm to fight while attempting the most difficult climbs on earth - and Alpine has never been happier!
Guns: like his martial arts style, Alpine mastered this skill in Army Basic, and has honed it ever since. He can operate any standard, semi-automatic, or fully automatic rifle or pistol as though his Coordination trait was +1 RS higher than is listed above.
Martial Arts type B: thanks to the Army's comprehensive self defense training, Alpine can easily defend himself should he wind up unarmed for some reason. Whether punching, kicking, or even giving someone a head butt, Alpine may do so at his Melee trait +1 RS.
Mathematics: before enlisting, Alpine was an accountant by trade. This involves a plethora of complex math, not just the kind given to a body in a three hour course in tax return preparation. Alpine's Intellect in all aspects of accounting should be considered +1 RS in value.
Military / United States: unchallenged by the life of an accountant, Alpine enlisted to be all he could be - which he has indeed done. He knows military protocols and procedures like the back of his hand, and can easily lead fighting men and women into battle when necessary.
As a long-standing member of GI Joe, Alpine can naturally rely upon most of the team for assistance in a pinch - especially Bazooka, his good buddy. Alpine has numerous additional contacts in military and finance circles, being accomplished in both fields.
Alpine likes to look a challenge in the eye and beat it cold - whether it's a ten thousand foot high mountain or a decade of incomplete financial records. A lot of this determination is a cathartic release from some of his childhood oddities, while some is just high self-confidence.

Alpine grew up surrounded by the mountains of Minidoka, Idaho, seeing the things all around him. This gave him a slightly fenced in feeling, and when he got out of college the man took to mountain climbing as a recreational sport - mostly in order to defeat that claustrophobic notion.
He spent several years as an accountant for a noted publishing firm, but after growing bored with this he enlisted in the Army. They transformed him into a highly skilled mountain trooper, taking full advantage of the skills he'd already mastered before enlisting.
When not balancing his battalion's books, Alpine was constantly honing his skills as a mountain combatant, a trait that eventually saw him being recruited by GI Joe. On his very first mission, Alpine had to scale a truly impressive mountain: the volcano on Cobra Island!
Though dormant, this rock had just been freshly raised from the ocean floor months ago, making for a particularly harrowing climb. Since he was there to rescue fellow Joe Rip-Cord, Alpine didn't mind the risks. Besides, how often does a body get to attempt such a unique climb?
After that successful mission, Alpine wound up staying with the Joes for quite a while. Unfortunately for him, though, most of his specific jobs, including one involving a Nazi war criminal and his antiquated chemical weapons from World War II, remain classified.
A member of GI Joe since he first joined up in '85, Alpine was cut alongside everybody else when the team was mothballed ten years later. Luckily, the man has other, non-combat skills to fall back on, and he simply returned to accounting upon being discharged from the Army.
GI Joe was reassembled several years later, though, after Cobra resumed its antics. While he didn't initially return to the team, Alpine did so after accepting a high-paying job that turned out to be for a Cobra front - which disrupted his family's entire life, after all.
He came back just in time to join the Joes in yet another Cobra Island civil war, one instigated by a resurrected Serpentor and his mysterious 'Coil'. Surviving this initial battle, Alpine stayed on call for the team to help avert any other major catastrophes Cobra might cause.
Alpine's second uniform, adopted after rejoining GI Joe in '04, consists of burgundy shorts, an orange collared shirt over a white T-shirt, burgundy climbing boots, gray support straps, gray knee pads, gray leather gloves, a gray leather belt, and a burgundy baseball cap.
His third uniform is just like his second, albeit modified in hue. It includes brown shorts, a grass green, collared shirt over a white T-shirt, green climbing boots, gray support straps, black knee pads, green leather gloves, a brown leather belt, and a black baseball cap.
Alpine's fourth GI Joe suit is another variation on his second. It consists of gray shorts, a green collared, camouflaged shirt over a green T-shirt, brown climbing boots, blue support straps, gray knee pads, blue leather gloves, a blue leather belt, and a brown baseball cap.
M4A1: Alpine uses heavier firepower with Tiger Force. He can discharge a single round with his M4A1 to inflict rank value 6 Piercing damage, a semi-automatic burst to inflict rank value 10 Piercing damage, or engage in fully automatic fire for rank value 20 Piercing damage.
Furthermore, he takes advantage of an M-203 grenade launcher mounted under the barrel of his M4A1. He can use this weapon to lob grenades up to three sectors away from his person, each of which detonate to inflict rank value 30 Slashing (fragmentary) damage.
Alpine's fifth GI Joe uniform is a slight modification of his third. He replaced his T-shirt with a turtleneck shirt, wore a brown cap instead of his formerly black one, ditched the knee pads, and donned bright white socks instead of his formerly gray ones.
