the HAVOC (Heavy Articulated Vehicle Ordnance Carrier

The Heavy Articulated Vehicle Ordnance Carrier is a miniature, mobile, all-terrain arsenal. This heavy tracked vehicle seats four Joes comfortably: two in the cockpit, one on the leveler control chair, and one in its utility flier. The HAVOC has the following features:

Handling
RV 30
Velocity
RV 10
Durability
RV 30
Protection
RV 20 *

Communications Array: the HAVOC is equipped with a gigahertz frequency, frequency wobbler clandestine operations radio system, allowing for constant team communications. It has rank value 10 comm power (with a 25 mile range), with rank value 30 signal encryption.

Front Guns: the HAVOC's secondary weapons are two front-mounted, horizontally adjustable machine guns, each of which can be fired to inflict rank value 10 Piercing damage in a semi-automatic burst of fire, or rank value 20 Piercing damage during fully automatic fire.

Impact-Resistant Tilt-Back Canopy: this bullet-resistant window array / roof-top offers the HAVOC's driver and co-driver (if present) rank value 20 defense against attack. Other occupants of the HAVOC have no inherent Protection (hence the asterisk shown above).

Lancer Missiles: the HAVOC employs four rear-mounted and rear-firing 'lancer' bi-pulse guidance missiles. These radio-controlled rockets inflict rank value 30 Armor Piercing Slashing (fragmentary) damage per blast. They have these vehicular characteristics:

Handling
RV 10
Velocity
RV 75
Durability
RV 20
Damage
RV 30 Armor Piercing Slashing (fragmentary)

Leveler Cannons: the HAVOC's primary weapons consist of twin, front-pointing, vertically adjustable 'leveler' 75 mm cannons. These twinned weapons inflict rank value 50 Piercing damage, which comes with a fragmentary effect upon their shells' explosive impact.

Leveler Command Chair: instead of driving the HAVOC from within, a body can instead sit atop the leveler firing mechanism in an ergonomic chair that, while more dangerous, offers a higher view of any combat zone. This is often used when many folks are in the HAVOC.

Non-Clogging Epoxy Armor Tracks: the HAVOC's twin track system is built out of specially coated, armored treads. This helps to bring their material strength up to the listed Durability trait offered above, and makes them much less prone to failure due to targeted attacks.

Rear Guns: the HAVOC's fourth weapon wall includes twin rear-mounted 9mm auto-load machine guns, which inflict damage per the vehicle's front guns. These are useful when buttoning down a target in preparation for a much more lethal, lancer missile strike.

Track Sill Battle Platforms: these special plates, one mounted on each side of the HAVOC's rear half, can each hold three extra personnel if necessary, though there's no vehicular Protection offered to folks that do so (and they must hang on for dear life at higher speeds).

the Utility Flier

The HAVOC's utility flier is essentially a turbo-fan operated, miniature aircraft. The thing flies by means of a 110 Horsepower engine, which runs two separate flotation fans, upon which sits the pilot of this little vehicle - it's about the size of a rather large couch.

The HAVOC has a special launch/storage bay for the utility flier, which provides it rank value 50 armor while not in use, and reinforced launch/landing pads. This bay occupies the entire rear of the HAVOC, except for its various weapon mounts. The flier has these capabilities:

Handling
RV 20
Velocity
RV 6
Durability
RV 20
Protection
RV 0

Flight: once launched, the utility flier can scout ahead of the HAVOC to spot trouble or any other quarry, and can also be surprise air support in a pinch, as most tracked vehicles don't contain secondary vehciles. This always catches unsuspecting opponents off guard.

Twin Guns: the utility flier has two 7.62 mm guns mounted on the front, which act as twin machine guns. They inflict rank value 10 Piercing damage in a single shot, rank value 20 Piercing damage in a semi-auto burst, or rank value 30 Piercing damage with continuous fire.

1990 Variations

the Sky HAVOC (Heavy Articulated Vehicle Ordnance Carrier)

As an answer to Cobra's Pythonization process, GI Joe began to retrofit several of its older vehicles (and some captured Cobra gear) with a revolutionary, radar-resistant technology. The vehicles equipped with this technolgy are utilized by GI Joe's Sky Patrol!

Invisibility to Radar: Sky HAVOCs have been fitted with a new, chromium-based process that allows them to deflect radar signals at oblique angles, as opposed to sending them back to their source. This effectively makes them invisible to radar systems with rank value 50 ability.
