the Royal Guard
While ordinary citizens of Cobra-La are mostly indistinguishable from humans, save for their occasionally abnormal skin tones, members of the Royal Guard are different. They are surgically augmented and outfitted with living, insectoid biotechnological armor!
Limitations / Enhancements:
Insectoid Armor: each member of the Royal Guard of Cobra-La wears their very own suit of armor. This armor is not fitted to them, so much as it grows into shape on top of their very bodies, ultimately resulting in a symbiotic relationship of sorts.
While it limits their Agility somewhat, the armor of the Royal Guard compensates for this with the staggering protection it provides them. Sure, they can't take it off, but this rank value 30 body armor makes them almost immune to conventional injury, as follows:
RV 30 / RV 10 / RV 4 / RV 0 / RV 0
Scimitar: the signature weapon of Cobra-La's Royal Guard, this long, heavy, and curved blade can dish out devastating damage in their hands. Of m.v. 50, it lets them inflict +1 RS Slashing damage with each strike, and can even be used as a shield in a pinch!
Sidearm: this bizarre, biological construct is built to resemble a conventional firearm, but doesn't behave like one. It fires creeper vine pods that, upon striking something, rapidly encases it within vines that grapple and hold it with rank value 20 Brawn.
Allergy / Cold: the phenomenon that destroyed Cobra-La's grip on prehistoric earth, its citizens are highly susceptible to cold damage. It affects them as if their armor, if any, was -2 RS in value, and if a given citizen of Cobra-La possesses none, it inflicts +1 RS damage.
Fanaticism 2: conditioned through behavioral and surgical modification to serve without question, the Royal Guard of Cobra-La is truly fanatical in its defense of its ruling body - Golobulus in particular. They are at -4 RS to resist the urge to act otherwise, should they feel a need to.
Martial Arts style B: though they happily brandish their blades at any foe of Cobra-la, its Royal Guard is by no means dependent on them. They can fight just as well while unarmed, benefiting from a +1 RS bonus whether punching, kicking, charging, or head butting their enemies!
Military: though their forces are small, Cobra-La's Royal Guard are ruthlessly regimented by their noble masters until they are a relentless force to be reckoned with. They work amazingly well with each other - almost like a single organism, when you get down to it.
Skill / Swords: the Royal Guard really love their curved blades, and brandish them at every opportunity. Whether using them offensively or defensively, the Royal Guard may wield their scimitars, or any other sword-like weapon, at a +1 RS to their Melee trait.
A tightly-knit group, each member of Cobra-La's Royal Guard can consider their fellows reliable contacts, for they all go through the same torturous process to get where they are. Furthermore, they all take their mission seriously - religiously so, you might say.
The Royal Guard do not wear clothing, so much as a living insectoid exoskeleton, which is grown over their very bodies! This chitinous armor is primarily crimson in hue, with gray and beige blotches in places, and features blue translucent shields over the eyes of its occupant.
The Royal Guard are exceptional examples of the citizens of Cobra-La. While they have no ascendant capabilities, their physical and mental states are the creation of their society, one which exclusively utilizes living organisms as technology, instead of unliving, lifeless hardware.
Fanatical followers of Golobulus, they answer only to him or the nobles of their small, cloistered society - assuming the latter isn't acting against the interests of the former. Should the Royal Guard suspect betrayal, they won't hesitate to chop down any of their fellow citizens!
These symbiotic warriors serve not only as the protectors of Cobra-La's leadership, but as its primary fighting force. While some tasks are left to the elite nobles, such as Pythona, most martial tasks fall upon the Royal Guard to complete - if only because they're so good at it.
