As a member of GI Joe, Airwave has access to a vast array of advanced gear with which he wages hiw own, personal efforts against the forces of evil. Other than that, he simply relies upon his Army-issue hand cannons and an uncanny trickiness to get by in a scrap.
Hindrances / Augmentations:
Helmet (s): Airwave's helmet has two functions. It protects against head injuries, providing him intensity 8, or +2, defense versus physical attack striking him there, and also has an orange visor that provides him Screened Senses, for his hearing and vision, at a like intensity.
Knife (s): paratroopers always carry a blade on the job. Made from m.s. 13 materials, Airwave can either use this tool to cut through items of up to like m.s., given enough time, or to inflict his Strength +2 in slashing damage during melee combat.
Machine Gun (a): Airwave may discharge a single round from his primary firearm to inflict his Agility +4 in damage, a three-round burst of such to inflict his Agility +5 in damage, or fire it continously to inflict his Agility +6 damage.
But wait, there's more! Airwave's weapon features an underslung grenade launcher, which can bloop projectiles anywhere within firing distance of his person. These explosives inflict intensity 10 slashing damage to all uncovered targets within near missile distance of where they detonate.
Parachute (a): naturally useful when leaping out of an airplane, Airwave obviously needs one of these when doing the whole paratrooper thing. This item allows him to exit a flying vehicle from extreme heights, and easily land on the ground without flattening himself.
Sidearms (a): holstered on each hip, these weapons are a convenient backup in the event that Airwave's machine gun isn't handy. He can fire a single round from them to inflict his Agility +4 in damage, or a short burst of such to inflict his Agility +5 in damage.
Boxing (s): one facet of his Army basic training, this skill describes Airwave's ability to defend himself while unarmed. He may divide his pre-card play action score between two distinct unarmed melee attacks, the second of which will occur as a contingent action.
Electronics 2 (i): while he's a competent soldier and paratrooper, Airwave's true talent lies in the design, construction, operation, maintenance, and repair of electronic devices. Airwave resolves related actions at a reduced difficulty, using either Intellect or Willpower.
Guns (a): another part of his Army basic training, Airwave can use almost all conventional firearms with proficiency. Whether he's toting standard, semi-automatic, or fully automatic rifles or pistols, Airwave may fire such weapons at one difficulty level lower than is usually required.
Military / United States (w): the source of Airwave's many and varied talents, this skill serves as a handy origin for the man. His Army training has given him an inherent understanding of military policies and procedures, on top of additional, floating military contacts.
As part of the Sky Patrol, Airwave can rely upon his teammates - both on the team and in GI Joe proper - for help should things get hairy. As long as the Joes have fought the never ending war against international terrorism, they're not about to start leaving each other high and dry.
Soldier: Airwave's a good representative of this calling in that he's not a mindless drone, so much as a man who's simply trying to be his very best. He always volunteers for assignments and missions that push him to learn and grow, in one way or another.
Airwave's GI Joe Sky Patrol uniform is comprised of a brown jacket beneath a light brown vest and spaulders, brown trousers featuring dark brown padding, dark brown leather boots and belts, light brown leather gloves and hip holsters, and his chrome helmet with an orange visor.
If you had one word you could use to describe Cliff, it should be 'spontaneous'. If you had two, you might also add 'stubborn'. The man doesn't know the meaning of the word 'quit', and he enjoys nothing more than brainstorming new, unexpected ideas to solve problems on the fly.

Airwave is an electronics genius. He doesn't have supernatural talent, so to speak, but he has the ability to push ordinary electronic circuits beyond what you'd normally expect them to be capable of, especially when modifying existing devices that are readily available.
A large part of this ability is a result of his own intransigence. Airwave is incredibly focused on Getting His Way, and can make astounding intuitive leaps to maneuver around obstacles in his path. It's not that he's bossy or stubborn, it's just that Airwave doesn't know how to quit.
This made him relatively successful in his civilian career, although he didn't find himself challenged all that much. This is why he ultimately enlisted in the Army. Airwave needs to be pushed to the limits of his ability, and beyond, if only to not be overwhelmingly bored.
To this end he worked with what he had, becoming an audible frequency specialist in no time flat. He managed to prove he was one of the best there is at what he does in the field, because of his knack for rebuilding broken circuits while under fire - no matter how badly damaged they are.
When report after report detailed how handy Airwave was during missions, what with his go-getter attitude and astounding ability with communications gear, Airwave was given the opportunity to 'audition' for a place on the GI Joe team, one of the most challenging gigs on earth.
How could Airwave say no to that? He accepted this offer, forced himself through the GI Joe entrance exam, and was assigned to the new Sky Patrol shortly thereafter. These GI Joe paratroopers were given the task of countering Cobra Python Patrol espionage and mayhem.
To this end, they were assigned newly refurbished GI Joe (and captured Cobra) vehicles, all of which were retrofitted with a revolutionary, chromium based stealth technology that works to reflect radar signals at oblique angles off of whatever items they are coated with.
That and getting to play with all this experimental hoo-hah really tickled Airwave pink, and he stayed on with the GI Joe team for the duration of it's original incarnation. Only when GI Joe was shut down, late in 1994, did Airwave return to conventional military service.
Not that GI Joe stayed inert forever. No, Cobra ultimately caused their reactivation, and when called upon, Airwave lent later iterations of the GI Joe team a hand when Cobra became simply too much to deal with, as was the case when they instigated World War III!
Airwave's second GI Joe field uniform is similar to his first, and consists of brown and tan camouflage trousers, a long-sleeved tan shirt beneath a khakis vest, a tan leather belt, khakis gloves and pauldrons, dark brown boots and knee pads, and a chrome helmet with an orange visor.
