Origin:

Drop Zone is, like most of his fellow GI Joes, a completely normal human. Nothing in his background has given him super-human abilities of any type. However, he does occasionally wield advanced military gear, as the Joes are often ahead of the curve in testing new technology.

Known Powers:

(none)

Limitations / Enhancements:

(none)

Equipment:

Helmet: Drop Zone's helmet has two functions. It protects against head injuries, providing him rank value 10 defense versus physical attack striking him there, and also has a darkened visor that provides him Screened Senses, for his hearing and vision, at a like value.

Knife: paratroopers always carry a blade on the job. Made from m.v. 40 materials, Drop Zone can either use this tool to cut through items of up to like m.v., given enough time, or to inflict his Brawn value in Slashing damage during melee combat.

Parachute: naturally useful when leaping out of an airplane, Drop Zone obviously needs one of these when doing the whole paratrooper thing. This item allows him to exit a flying vehicle from extreme heights, and easily land on the ground without flattening himself.

Sidearm: holstered on his chest, this weapon is a convenient backup in the event that Drop Zone's twinned gun isn't handy. He can fire a single round from this piece to inflict rank value 6 Piercing damage, or a short burst of such to inflict rank value 10 Piercing damage.

Twinned Machine Gun: this is a dual-barrelled machine gun, secured to Drop Zone's chest via a heavy duty harness. It can discharge a short burst of ammunition to inflict rank value 20 Piercing damage, or be fired continuously to inflict rank value 30 Piercing damage.

Quirks:

(none)

Skills:

Guns: a part of his Army basic training, Drop Zone can use almost all conventional firearms with proficiency. Whether he's toting standard, semi-automatic, or fully automatic rifles or pistols, Drop Zone may fire such weapons as though his Coordination was +1 CS in value.

Martial Arts style B: another facet of his Army basic training, this skill describes Drop Zone's ability to defend himself while unarmed. He may attempt any unarmed strikes, from punching to kicking to elbow smashing, at a +1 CS to his listed Melee trait.

Military / United States: an origin of sorts for Drop Zone, this skill is representative of his true calling. His Army training has given him an inherent understanding of military policies and procedures, on top of several additional, floating military contacts.

Contacts:

A member of the GI Joe team, Drop Zone may reliably depend upon his fellows for help in a pinch, whether they be Joes in general or the Sky Patrol in particular. They're almost all been enlisted for decades, and would go to any length to assist each other should it become necessary!

Costume:

Drop Zone's GI Joe field uniform consists of a gray and light brown leather jacket, light brown trousers under dark brown chaps, hip-high, gray and dark brown leather boots, a brown leather belt, dark brown leather gloves, and a gray steel helmet with a brown-tinted, mirrored visor.

Personality:

Samuel firmly believes that duty and honor have a place in today's seemingly insane society, and views renegades and terrorists like Cobra with the utmost of disdain. But then he is in love with the military lifestyle, and still wonders how he lucked into such a 'fun' career choice!

Story:

More than a few Joes have made a career out of the military, but Drop Zone is truly an Army man. He fell in love with the Life during the very first day of Basic Training. He eats, drinks, and breathes the SOP, and almost all of his 'civvies' are olive drab or camo patterned.

Drop Zone is like a kid in a candy store. He's still trying to figure out how he actually gets paid to do his job - where else can you make money jumping out of airplanes with a knife between your teeth, much less get to work with heavy artillery shells sailing overhead?

Of course, Drop Zone isn't out of his mind. He just enjoys the fact that he's having fun while helping to protect his country. Drop Zone's also a very ethical sort, and feels that duty and honor still have a place in modern society, no matter what people on the television tell you.

His seemingly manic pursuit of success on missions, truly being the best he can be, has served Drop Zone well in his career. A highly ranked (and liked) Army sergeant, Drop Zone's perpetual excellent field performance ultimately earned him a position on the GI Joe team.

Soon after surviving the grueling GI Joe entrance exam, Drop Zone was snatched up by Skydive for membership in his elite Sky Patrol team. This group of paratroopers, wielding modified GI Joe (and captured Cobra) vehicles, works to counter the nefarious actions of Cobra's Python Patrol.

The entirety of Drop Zone's operations with the Sky Patrol team have been highly classified, to the point that aside from their general nature, these 'Special Missions' have yet to be revealed. He served his nation with aplomb in this fashion, until the Joes were disbanded in '94.

(Historical Divergence)

Drop Zone is still available for further work with GI Joe, despite the team being only intermittently active after that. Whenever they put out the call, he's been more than ready to jump out of an airplane at whatever crisis Cobra has cooked up - he's just that kind of guy!

2016 Variations

Equipment:

Jet Pack: one of Drop Zone's recent equipment additions, this back-mounted device allows him to soar through the skies! Featuring collapsible wings and a small jet thruster, this (very) personal vehicle allows Drop Zone to fly with rank value 20 ability, or at 150 MPH!

Machine Gun: in 2016, Drop Zone adopted this weapon, with which he may discharge a single round to inflict rank value 6 Piercing damage, a three-round burst of such to inflict rank value 10 Piercing damage, or fire it continously to inflict rank value 20 Piercing damage.

Drop Zone's weapon also features an underslung shotgun, which can fire bird shot to inflict rank value 6 Piercing damage in a thirty degree arc, buckshot to inflict rank value 10 Piercing damage to adjacent targets, or slugs to inflict rank value 20 Piercing damage to a single target.

Costume:

Drop Zone's second GI Joe uniform is comprised of a gray and light brown leather jacket, light brown trousers, dark brown and gray leather boots, brown knee pads, dark brown gloves, light and dark brown holsters, and a gray steel helmet with a brown-tinted, mirrored visor.
