Origin:

As is the case with most members of Cobra, Night Vultures lack special powers of any sort, being, at least in a physical sense, normal humans. They only have their wits, their skills, and their standard-issue equipment with which to perpetrate their many crimes.

Known Powers:

(none)

Limitations / Enhancements:

(none)

Equipment:

Crossbow: since they're supposed to be sneaking in and out of enemy turf, Night Vultures always carry this device. Each bolt they fire from this mechanized weapon will inflict Good (10) Shooting damage, and its projectiles have the bonus of lacking the sonic boom of a bullet.

Grenades: when stealth is no longer a concern, Night Vultures can drop these implements on folks from above. They explode a few seconds after being armed to inflict Remarkable (30) Edged Attack damage to everyone within the area they detonate inside.

Knives: pinned to their web gear, Night Vultures carry two spike-knuckled trench knives. They can use either use these Remarkable (30) m.s. weapons to cut through items possessing up to a like m.s., given the time, or can instead inflict Edged Attack damage in melee.

Night Vulture Glider: their principal workplace implement and transportation all in one, Night Vultures each have their very own glider with which to terrorize the world at Cobra's behest. These unpowered vehicles are described fully in their own equipment entry.

Nunchaku: pinned to their right leg, Night Vultures can use these weapons to silently - more or less - disable their enemies. Possessing a Remarkable (30) m.s., Night Vultures may use nunchaku to inflict inflict their Strength rank +1 CS in Blunt Attack damage with each brutal assault.

Sidearm: once the jig is up, there's no point in avoiding the report of firearms any longer. As such, Night Vultures may either discharge one round to inflict Typical (6) Shooting damage with this backup weapon, or a short burst of rounds to inflict Good (10) Shooting damage.

Quirks:

(none)

Talents:

Bows: as they're supposed to be doing their job without making a ruckus, Night Vultures are trained how to use ranged weaponry that's quiet. As such, they can wield most stringed weapons, whether a conventional bow or a crossbow, at a +1 CS to their Agility score.

Guns: all Cobra operatives know how to effectively wield a firearm, regardless of its type. As such, with either a standard, semi-automatic, or fully automatic rifle or pistol in hand, Night Vultures may discharge rounds from it as if their Agility was +1 CS in rank.

Martial Arts type A or B: like most Cobras, Night Vultures can defend themselves - even without weaponry. They often learn type A, allowing them to Slam or Stun foes regardless of their Strength or Endurance scores, or go with B, gaining a +1 CS to hit in unarmed combat.

Military: generally, one cannot make their way into the Night Vultures without having served in one of several different Cobra corps. As such, Night Vultures invariably have this skill, allowing them to fight in teams, and can navigate Cobra's Byzantine rank structure with ease.

Contacts:

Night Vultures are Cobras, though they're generally not held in the highest regard by that organization. Considered unreliable and expendable, they're forced to earn the respect of their superiors in the Command before they can move on to bigger and better positions within Cobra.

Costume:

The original Night Vulture uniform is comprised of a long-sleeved purple shirt, purple trousers, black leather boots and gloves, a black mask that covers their whole head, purple-lensed goggles, orange web gear, an orange belt,an orange nunchaku belt, and an orange holster.

Notes:

The Night Vultures are a covert insertion force. Minimally armed and equipped, they silently glide into enemy territory to perform their work, which is primarily to raid supplies and weaponry from Cobra's foes. Of course, this mission often devolves into violence and/or sabotage.

Do you want to be a Night Vulture? Great! All you need to do is be a Cobra operative in good standing, no matter what corps you currently belong to, and demonstrate your ability to survive a five mile glide from the ocean back to shore, and you're in. What are you waiting for?

Sure, Night Vultures don't earn a lot for this work, and they're generally considered unreliable on particularly harrowing missions, but there are fringe benefits. After all, their job involves stealing; what they don't give back to Cobra they often keep for themselves!

2016 Variations

Equipment:

Night Vulture Glider, Mark 2: replacing their original gliders, the Night Vultures' new glider is a more advanced, yet more simplified design. Only slightly larger than a wingsuit, their new gliders are unarmed, but still provide the abiltiy to glide with Typical (6) ability.

Costume:

The second Night Vulture uniform consists of a long sleeved purple shirt, purple trousers, a purple leather belt, black leather boots, gloves, and knee pads, a black mask that covers their entire head, purple-lensed goggles, orange web gear, and orange holsters and sheathes.
