Origin:

Tracker is like most operatives working for the GI Joe team, in that he lacks super-human powers of any variety. However, the man does appear to have an unnatural tracking ability. He can seemingly locate even the most difficult to find foes, no matter how hard they try to hide.

Powers:

(none)

Hindrances / Augmentations:

(none)

Equipment:

Grenades (i): Tracker carries three grenades with him into the field, strapped to his web gear. These devices can be flung out to near missile distance, and detonate to inflict intensity 10 fragmentary damage to all within near missile distance of their explosion point.

Knife (s): Tracker is a Navy SEAL, and he always has a blade handy, no matter the situation. He can either use his knife to inflict his Strength +2 in slashing damage, or to cut through items of up to m.s. 13, given enough time to saw through them.

Raft (i): allowing him to track targets both up and down stream, this inflatable raft makes Tracker's job much more convenient. He can only paddle along at walking speed for the most part, though he can do so even against most currents, thanks to his great strength.

Sidearms (a): Tracker carries at least one of these weapons on him, the first being on a chest holster. He can discharge one round from such weapons to inflict their Agility +4 in damage, or a three-round burst to inflict his Agility +5 in damage.

Submachine Gun (a): his primary weapon in the field, Tracker can discharge one round with it to inflict his Agility +4 in damage, a short burst of rounds to inflict his Agility +5 in damage, or fire it continuously to inflict his Agility +6 in damage.

Visor (w): this handy implement serves Tracker well in the field. In addition to providing him intensity 8, or +2, Screened Senses for his vision, the thing offers the man intensity 7 night vision, which is handy while tracking someone after the sun goes down.

Skills:

Boating (a): as a Navy SEAL, Tracker has been trained in the skills required to operate a boat effectively. Whether he's piloting, navigating, or serving in any other capacity on a ship, he should receive a reduced difficulty on actions called for while engaging in any boating activities.

Boxing (s): a skill everyone picks up during their ground-level military education, Tracker can easily defend himself without weaponry in hand. He may divide his pre-card play action score between two unarmed attacks, the second of which will occur as a contingent action.

Guns (a): Tracker knows guns - how to use them, as well as how to take proper care of them. Whenever he's wielding a standard, semi-automatic, or fully automatic rifle or pistol, Tracker should do so at one difficulty level lower than is usually required.

Military / United States (w): Tracker is a member of the United States Navy, and in fact one of its elite SEALs. He can easily function in any competent modern combat unit, and he knows the SOP like the back of his hand.

Survival (w): a proud and self-reliant man in the extreme, Tracker is more than happy to prove he can live without anyone's help - or any tools or supplies if necessary. He can easily scrounge up enough food, water and shelter to survive in almost any terrestrial environment.

Tracking (w): you may have guessed that Tracker is a master level tracker. He's incredibly experienced at spotting the subtle, tell-tale signs of passage that people leave when crossing a given tract of land, and should receive a reduced difficulty when doing so.

Calling:

Soldier, with a secondary calling of Peace of Mind: Tracker is happy to lead a solitary existence if he must, bereft of companionship or anyone he may have to lean on at all. He puts up with the Navy way of life to serve his country, however.

Costume:

Tracker uses a simple outfit as his GI Joe field uniform. It consists of a red tank top with orange numbering printed on, orange sweat pants over white athletic socks, orange and purple sneakers, black leather gloves, black web gear and equipment holsters/sheathes, and a black visor.

Personality:

Christopher is smart and observant. He's also at one with the wild, and can easily tell if someone has disturbed it with but an offhand glance. Self-reliant, he's more than happy to spend his time alone in the brush, whether or not he's actually on the job at the time.

Story:

Christopher easily gained the nickname of Tracker long before he enlisted in the Navy. The man has always been at home in nature, and considers it a badge of pride that he can survive out in the wilderness all by himself - without any gear to start with if necessary.

Rather self-reliant and capable to begin with, Tracker signed up for the Navy SEAL course and managed to make his way through on the first attempt. It was there that his tracking and survival skills were honed to an amazing degree, and Tracker rapidly showed great promise.

After serving as a SEAL for a time, Tracker was invited to 'try out' for the GI Joe team. As it turned out he managed to amaze them as well, being one of the few trainees ever to elude his instructors during the 'Escape and Evasion' portion of the indoctrination course.

Impressed by this, the cadre pitted Tracker against both Spirit and Snake-Eyes, and he managed to find the two within twelve hours... something no one else had managed to do during the GI Joe entrance exam... ever. Naturally, Tracker passed with flying colors!

Once he was on the Joe team proper, Tracker engaged in a variety of highly classified Special Missions with the team, the details of which have yet to be revealed to the public - or even most of his fellow Joes - to this very day. This went on for several years, until late in 1994.

(Historical Divergence)

At this point, the Joes were temporarily disbanded by the government, which had the effect of allowing Cobra to regroup and reorganize. Naturally, the Joes were eventually reassembled to counter this new threat, though Tracker wasn't one of the first Joes to make his way back.

He did however, when the Joes called 'everyone' back to help deal with the second Cobra Island Civil War. Tracker remained with the group at this point, at least until he was targeted by a completely different terrorist organization: the Red Shadows.

This group was hunting down members of both GI Joe and Cobra in its own bid for world domination, and their operatives caught up with Tracker when he was doing his daily jog. There, they gunned him down in cold blood, in front of a large group of witnesses.
