Fort America

Fort America is an odd vehicle, even keeping GI Joe's standards in mind. It is a tall-treaded ground vehicle, armed with a large missile launcher and a large-caliber cannon. But the weird part is that it can transform at the drop of a hat into a small, urban fortress!

Borrowing some of Destro's Dominator technology, the tank treads literally fold in beneath Fort America, and its walls flip out from their standard, vehicular surfaces to showcase something akin to a brick structure, complete with GI Joe propaganda posters!

In its tank mode, at least, Fort America possess these vehicular characteristics:

Handling
RV 10
Velocity
RV 10
Durability
RV 30
Protection
RV 20

Body Armor: in either of its two modes, Fort America is built to withstand a serious amount of punishment. The device has an effective m.v. (or Durability trait) of rank value 30, and offers its occupants rank value 20 Protection from incoming attack.

Cannon: the top of Fort America (in either mode) possesses a turret with this 50mm cannon on one side and a missile launcher on the other. It can rotate in any direction, and may be fired to inflict rank value 50 Piercing damage per deadly round.

Communications Gear: Fort America is equipped with a gigahertz frequency, frequency wobbler clandestine operations radio system. This makes for rank value 20 communications power (with a 100 mile range) that features rank value 30 signal encryption.

Ripple Missile Launcher: on the 'back' of Fort America's top-mounted turret is this large launcher, which can hold five projectiles at once. These projectiles inflict the listed damage if they strike singly, but can add +1 RS for each doubling of missiles that hit at once:

Handling
RV 20
Velocity
RV 50
Durability
RV 20
Damage
RV 30 Slashing (fragmentary)

Shape Change: the main feature of Fort America is that it can transform! This vehicle is mobile in its tank form (having the vehicular characteristics listed above), but can literally change into a bricked urban structure at the drop of a hat (which takes a few turns).

In its stronghold configuration, Fort America appears like any other conventional structure, complete with a brick exterior and assorted trash and other rubble strewn about to complete the illusion. The only hint that Fort America is something odd is the turret at the top.

And of course the American flag planted up there, too.
