the Ice Snake
First fielded in 1993, the Ice Snake is a small cold-weather vehicle produced by Cobra. It can comfortably seat two operatives within its cockpit, with room for two more hangers-on in the rear. It features skis in the front and all-terrain wheels in the rear.
Smaller than most of Cobra's polar equipment, the snow white Ice Snake makes up for missing bulk with considerable mobility, moving troops here and there over the snow and ice with relatively little expense. The Ice Snake possesses the following vehicular characteristics:
Handling RV 30 |
Velocity RV 20 |
Durability RV 20 |
Protection RV 6 |
Body Armor: while small, the Ice Snake features a compact build that maximizes its reliability. It thus possesses a Durability trait of 20, but only provides its two occupants rank value 6 Protection, since they are partially exposed to the outside world.
Cobra-band Radio: Cobra gear uses a communication system of its own, not beholden to conventional broadcast standards. The Ice Snake in particular has a transceiver which operates with rank value 10 range (25 miles), and benefits from rank value 20 signal encryption.
Grappling Hook: one of the implements its rear launcher can fire, this oversized hook can snag personnel, vehicles, or even structures! It can strike targets within eleven sectors of the Ice Snake, either inflicting rank value 20 Slashing damage or just hooking onto things.
Missiles: the Ice Snake loadout includes two Arctic Assault missiles, which can be fired one at a time from its rear launcher. These projectiles inflict considerable damage to personnel, vehicles, or structures, and behave in the following vehicular fashion:
Handling RV 20 |
Velocity RV 50 |
Durability RV 20 |
Damage RV 30 Slashing (fragmentary) |
Roll Cage: providing 1 RS of damage reduction where the damage caused by rolls is concerned, this implement also has offensive applications. Its 'jaw snapping' action allows it to inflict rank value 20 Slashing damage to targets directly in front of the Ice Snake.
