Origin:
Though he may seem larger than life, Mace is naught but a normal human - at least, anatomically speaking. He has a brilliant and perceptive mind capable of rapidly assuming many different personas, depending on the situation... and can wear a missile launcher on his head!
Known Powers:
(none)
Limitations / Enhancements:
(none)
Equipment:
Grenades: Mace carries several XJT baseball explosives on missions, secured to a belt wrapped around his right thigh. They can be thrown two areas away, and inflict Remarkable (30) Edged Attack (fragmentary) damage to all uncovered targets in the area they detonate within.
Knife: Mace always has at least one of these with him at all times - if not more. He can use these blades to inflict his Strength rank in Edged Attack damage or, alternately, to cut through items of up to Incredible (40) m.s., assuming he has enough time to do so.
Missile Launching Helmet: when he's ready for action, Mace can put on his helmet and go to town! This headgear offers the man Good (10) protection against physical attacks that strike him in the head, but that's not all. No, not by a long shot!
You see, Mace's helmet is equipped with an oversized, fully functional 'stealth' missile launcher on the right side! This impressive neck strain allows Mace to fire a powerful projectile once per turn (for an unknown number of turns), each of which has these vehicular characteristics:

Machine Guns: Mace typically has his pick of modern firearms. These can generally discharge one round to inflict Typical (6) Shooting damage, a three-round burst to inflict Good (10) Shooting damage, or be fired continuously to inflict Excellent (20) Shooting damage.
Sidearm: kept in a chest holster for more intimate gunplay, Mace always his backup hand cannon ready. He can fire this .45 piece to discharge one round, inflicting Typical (6) Shooting damage, raised to Good (10) Shooting damage when firing a three-round burst of ammunition.
Quirks:
(none)
Talents:
Detective / Espionage: his primary military specialty, Mace is very good at information gathering. The man excels at digging up the most obscure of data, no matter how hard someone tries to hide it, and he should receive a +1 CS towards efforts to uncover information.
Guns: while he hopes avoid it, Mace can readily bring firearms to bear in a tense situation. He may wield any standard, semi-automatic, or fully automatic rifle or pistol, or even variant weapons like a shotgun, as if his Agility was +1 CS higher in rank.
Martial Arts type B: Mace has plenty of training and practical experience in defending himself, even when denied the use of weaponry. He may punch, kick, bite, head butt, elbow smash, knee drop, or curb stomp a foe as if his Fighting rank was +1 CS higher than listed above.
Military / United States: the source of his many and various skills, Mace is a military man through and through. He is well-versed in the SOP, and can readily slip seamlessly into most modern fighting units, no matter their point of origin.
Performer: Mace is an actor of the highest caliber, not that you'll ever know it. He is the best at adopting any number of personas, often switching from minute to minute in frenzied phone conversations. A week of undercover work should net Mace 10 Karma points.
Contacts:
Mace is a member of the GI Joe team and the Army, and may readily rely upon both groups for assistance should he but ask - his rank and experience affords him that. His work has also given him countless additional contacts in seedier circles, from smugglers to terrorists.
Costume:
Mace's GI Joe field uniform is simple. It includes an embossed black leather jacket over a yellow T-shirt and under a yellow firearms holster, khakis trousers, black leather boots and gloves, a black leather belt around his waist and his thigh, and his signature yellow helmet.
Personality:
Thomas is an incredibly bright fellow, constantly juggling identities and personas on the fly as he meets with the sordid criminal contacts that unwittingly give their secrets up to him. He's also incredibly brave, as but one mistake could see him killed in the line of duty!

Story:
Thomas 'Mace' Bowman has a background in intelligence, engaging in both surveillance operations and intelligence gathering for the military. He's content to observe targets from afar, but if he must Mace will get up close and personal to squeeze more information out of them.
Over the years Mace has grown quite adept at shifting from one persona to another, keeping a veritable catalog of pretend villains in his head so that he may rapidly deal with a multitude of contacts in the underworld. This is what ultimately got him a job on the GI Joe team.
While Mace himself is rarely seen alongside his fellow Joes, the man is always working for them, now using his impressive talents on American soil in addition to other countries. You see, he's turned his focus towards Cobra and its various illicit activities around the world!
This often sees him hobnobbing with Vipers, Headhunters, Dreadnoks, and just about any other group of thugs Cobra employs. The man is good, too - those villains never know that the thug they've been bragging to is a Joe operative - at least until he suits up and takes them down.
Of course, even then they may not know what hit them, because you never expect that thug you're drinking with to put on a head-mounted rocket launcher and lead an assault of GI Joe operatives, now, do you? Ever secretive, Mace usually does this in a way that doesn't reveal his identity.
This helps him maintain his cover long after the thugs he's brought to justice have been processed by the legal system. In fact, he's often played at 'escaping' from prison or having 'done his time' after such assaults, to better get himself an 'in' with criminal organizations!
Mace continued this work for the Joes until they were disbanded in '94, albeit temporarily. When this occurred, Mace continued on with his undercover activities, as Cobra's threat didn't end when the Joes were shut down - no, it only intensified, both at home and abroad!
