Origin:

Whether she is just one woman or, in fact, another set of villainous Cobra twins, Vypra is (are?) normal human(s), at least anatomicaly speaking. She (they?) lack(s) powers of any stripe, only possessing conventional skills and equipment with which to defeat her (their?) enemies!

Powers:

(none)

Hindrances / Augmentations:

(none)

Equipment:

Katanas (s): either family heirlooms or pawn shop acquisitions, Vypra carries her twin blades, of m.s. 13, everywhere. With these, she can either cut through items of up to like m.s., given the inclination, or inflict her Strength +4 in slashing damage.

the Rattler 4WD (i): earned after personally impressing Cobra Commander, Vypra's 4WD Rattler is in truth a Stinger, just repainted in her personal colors. For more details on this tried and true Cobra ride, check out this and other Stinger variants in their own vehicular descriptions.

Sodegarami (s): whether an item reflecting her heriatage or simply something she thought cool, Vypra also carries a sodegarami in her ride. It can be used to inflict +3 slashing damage, or per its intended function, capture others by engangling their clothing in its blades.

Skills:

Boxing (s): while she may or may not be a ninja, Vypra can definitely hit her foes both fast and hard! She may divide her pre-card play action score between two distinct unarmed attacks, the second of which she may attempt as a contingent action.

Driving (a): a highly effective Cobra courier, perhaps as well as Scar-Face was in his day, Vypra is a professional driver. She can readily operate most ground vehicles with ease, whether forklifts, dump trucks, motorcycles, or tanks, resolving handling actions at a reduced difficulty.

Guns (a): though she infrequently wields them, marksmanship is a mandatory skill for all Cobras. Thus, Vypra can readily discharge a standard, semi-automatic, or fully automatic rifle or pistol with confidence, gaining a reduced difficulty when attempting to do so.

Martial Arts (a): bolstering her claims of being a ninja, Vypra knows several martial arts techniques. As a result, she may reduce the difficulty of attempts to dodge incoming assaults, catch thrown weaponry, or even to strike others in unarmed melee, by one difficulty level.

Marital Arts Weapons (s): the ornate bladed objects Vypra carries about aren't just for show. She has the ability to wield her katanas and sodegarami, not to mention other martial arts weapons like nunchaku or shuriken, without any penalty to the applicable ability score.

Military (w): Vypra never enlisted, thinking of soldiers as 'wimps'. Mastering this skill was nonetheless a portion of her induction into Cobra, however, which has given her insight into the byzantine organization of the group - all the better to advance herself through it!

Stealth (w): whether or not she's truly a ninja, Vypra has the ability to move... and move without notice! While attempting to be inconspicuous, either when standing still or on the move, Vypra may increase the difficulty on her opponents' attempts to detect her presence by one level.

Vehicular Combat (a): sure, Vypra can drive, but where she truly shines is behind the wheel in a fight. Pushing her vehicles as if they were monster trucks, Vypra may reduce the difficulty of any combat-related card play she attempts while driving, whether offensive or defensive in nature.

Contacts:

A member of Cobra with the Commander's respect, Vypra has earned her own name within that organization. She can usually rely upon them for aid, should it be easy enough for them to provide it, and possesses numerous additional contacts within various criminal organizations.

Calling:

Greed: while her background changes from day-to-day, at least what she tells others about herself, Vypra's motivations never seem to differ. Whether violently inclined or simply demonstrating her superior skills, Vypra always does what she wants to get what she wants.

Costume:

Vypra's initial field uniform includes a loose-fitting pair of dark blue and white camouflage trousers, a loose-fitting, long-sleeved dark blue and white camouflage robe, soft black shoes and gloves, a black belt, and a dark blue and white camouflage hood.

Personality:

Though she obscures much of herself behind false backgrounds and elaborate facades, Vypra can't hide her ambition and aggression. Headstrong and self-assured, Vypra will do anything to get what she wants, whether it involves lying, cheating, and/or stealing along the way!

Story:

It's impossible to get a bead on just who Vypra really is - or even how many people she happens to be! This is because she delights in weaving numerous backgrounds for herself to waylay those who might be looking into her origins. Which begs the question: what is she hiding?

In some of her tales, she is a swamp rat from Louisiana, who had the right temperament and disposition to become a Dreadnok, but simply fell into Cobra's orbit first. In others, she is the twin daughters of mighty Onihashi, the late Arashikage ninja sword smith.

These and more serve as the histories of Vypra, or the Vypra twins, depending on which story you believe. Either way, she made her mark in Cobra before even joining them, impressing the Commander by sneaking into his well-defended meetings with the leaders of his Crimson Guard.

Giving her a dangerous mission as a test, Vypra was charged with delivering sensitive information (and lots of gold) to the Night Creeper Leader, Aleph. Managing this despite the dangers inherent to approaching that high tech ninja's coven unbidden, she was offered a place within Cobra.

Allowed her very own vehicle with which to perpertate her crimes, Vypra claimed a Stinger as her own, renaming it the Rattler and giving it a paint job matching the color scheme of her own ensemble. Highly conspicuous whether in or out of her ride, Vypra then made a name for herself.

Taking the role of Cobra's lead courier, Vypra makes sure that important packages between the members of the Cobra command and their various installations and field operatives arrive safely. She does so quietly when possible, but rather loudly when circimstances require it.

2004 Variations

Equipment:

Nunchaku (v1) (s): when assuming the identity of Onihashi's twin daughters, Vypra carries a nunchaku with her on top of her other gear. She can utilize this weapon against her many foes to inflict her Strength +3 in bashing damage, enough to quickly beat her foes senseless.

Costume:

Vypra's second outfit is comprised of a loose-fitting pair of red camouflage trousers, a loose-fitting, long-sleeved red camouflage robe featuring golden designs sewn in and a black Cobra logo over the left breast, soft red sandals, a black belt, and a red camouflage hood.

Her third field uniform consists of a loose-fitting pair of red camouflage trousers, a loose-fitting, long-sleeved red camouflage robe featuring less flashy golden designs sewn in and a black Cobra logo over the left breast, soft red sandals, a black belt, and a red camouflage hood.

2015 Variations

Equipment:

Submachine Guns (a): supplementing her usual gear, Vypra donned two submachine guns in 2015. She can discharge one round from them to inflict her Agility +4 in damage, three to inflict her Agility +5 in damage, or a continuous burst to inflict her Agility +6 in damage.

Costume:

Vypra's fourth field uniform is reminiscent of her first, and includes a loose-fitting pair of dark blue trousers, a loose-fitting, long-sleeved dark blue robe with a silver Cobra emblem over the left breast, black leather boots and gloves, a black belt, and a black hood.
