Cobra: 2004 Personnel and Equipment
the Baroness: after her brother was seemingly killed by an American soldier, the girl who would become the Baroness was consumed with a need for vengeance, and her foray into international terrorism ultimately led to an association with Cobra. Availability:
Battle Android Troopers: BATs are mass-produced in various Cobra Island factories, using factory seconds for microprocessors and mechanical components built in third world sweat shops. Though dumb as hammers, BATs are heavily armed and dangerous! Availability:
Cobra Commander: Cobra's founder, its mysterious Commander began as an unsuccessful businessman who, after his paranoia told him that Big Government was out to crush the 'little guy', decided to forge a new system - one with him on the top! Availability:
Doctor Mindbender: formerly a mild-mannered orthodontist, Doctor Mindbender came into being after the man tested out brain-wave altering devices meant to alleviate dental pain on himself. His personality polarized, he became a literal mad scientist! Availability:
Firefly: a true artist of a saboteur, Firefly enjoys destroying all which is supposedly invulnerable. The adopted son of the Koga ninja clan, Firefly also takes great pride in never being seen before, during, or after he demolishes his targets! Availability:
Scrap-Iron: originally just an employee of Destro's MARS corporation, Scrap-Iron joined Cobra in an effort to field test his latest armament designs. The never-ending opportunities to destroy the imperfect are simply a fringe benefit of the job! Availability:
Storm Shadow: Tommy Arashikage, Cobra's greatest ninja, didn't originally start out with evil aims. Thanks to the machinations of Cobra Commander, however, he was swept into a life of crime and terrorism, one that continually comes back to haunt him! Availability:
Wild Weasel: a self-made man bearing loyalty to no nation, Wild Weasel gleefully supports Cobra as long as the checks keep coming. Widely considered Cobra's best pilot, Wild Weasel is infamous for his seemingly supernatural mastery of the Rattler! Availability:
Tele-Vipers: vital cogs in Cobra operations, Tele-Vipers are the men and women who relay messages back and forth between the Cobra command and its subordinates. As such, it's rare to see Cobra's leadership without a Tele-Viper handy. Availability:
Vipers: those Cobras who show great promise as combatants are often promoted to that organization's light infantry: the Vipers! These thoroughly trained, highly motivated, and well-equipped operatives are a serious threat to freedom world-wide! Availability:
Kwinn: mysterious to the core, this enigmatic mercenary is one of the best there is at what he does. A man of honor, Kwinn always obeys the exact wording of a contract, and he never reveals anything about his employers - no matter how much he may want to. Availability:
Buzzer: a former Cambridge sociologist, Buzzer joined an Australian biker gang after studying it, finding it a great outlet for his new hatred for modern life. Too much for them to handle, Dick eventually wound up working for Zartan. Availability:
Ripper: evincing antisocial behavior since he was a toddler, Ripper grew up into a life of crime. This culminated with his joining the Dreadnoks, the only group that would have him, and occasionally performing freelance work for Cobra! Availability:
Road Pig: one of the strongest Dreadnoks, save for Zartan himself, Road Pig is also one of the most violent. And ugliest. And smelliest. But the gang keeps Road Pig around despite all this, and more, because he's something of an ace in the hole for them. Availability:
Thrasher: growing up terminally spoiled, the youth that would devolve into Thrasher wanted for nothing. With no discipline to rein him in, Thrasher's violent, destructive urges consumed him, and he ultimately found his way into the Dreadnoks! Availability:
Zanzibar: born in the Cayman Islands and raised on a garbage scow, Zanzibar grew up to respect no one and nothing. Basic manners escape him, as does the notion of personal property, at least respecting others. Even the Dreadnoks despite the man! Availability:
Zarana: Zartan's sister, Zarana is one of his lieutenants in the Dreadnoks. Her unchecked cruelty, greed, and ambition also garnered her a position as Cobra's second in command for quite some time, an opportunity she milked for all it was worth. Availability:
Zartan: a 'zen cosmic biker hitman', the man known only as Zartan is a criminal with astounding powers of camouflage, regeneration, and super human strength. Though no one really knows why he did so, Zartan is also the founder of the Dreadnoks. Availability:
Destro: the latest in a long line of arms traders, James McCullen Destro XXIV has no problem selling his family's wares to the highest bidder. While personally honorable, he has no qualms about working with the likes of Cobra and other despotic villains. Availability:
Iron Grenadiers: drawn from the ranks of earth's elite mercenaries, the Iron Grenadiers are the core of Destro's personal army. Insidious saboteurs and relentless arms dealers, the Iron Grenadiers are supremely motivated, as they get a cut of every MARS sale! Availability:
the A.P.C. Transport: manned by Battle Android Troopers, the Android Personnel Carrier (A.P.C.) Transport serves many uses in This Snake's Army. It can be used to harrass the GI Joe team's operatives, or to keep Cobra's various Venom troopers in line, when such becomes necessary! The A.P.C. Transport comes in Classic and Saga styles!
the Ninja Lightning Cycle: a revamp of the old-style, Ninja Force vehicle, the Ninja Lightning Cycle is a much more efficient version of ninja motorcycle. Of course, the nefarious Storm Shadow appropriated one of these, so now Cobra has them in their arsenal, too! the (new) Ninja Lightning Cycle comes in Classic and Saga styles!
the Crimson ASP: a towable weapon system equipped with two Eliminator cannons, the Assault System Pod, or ASP, is a menace to all Cobra's enemies. Capable of striking foes on land, sea, or air, the ASP excels for providing security or fire superiority! Availability:
the Crimson HISS: the Sentry is a Mark 3 Cobra HISS modified (repainted) for use by the Crimson Guard. A treaded vehicle with a top-mounted, twinned 30mm gun turret, the Sentry delivers serious fire power that is second only to an actual tank in practice. Availability:
the Venom Striker: Cobra liked what it saw in the GI Joe team's Assault Quad... so they stole it. While the new Venom Striker works the same as the Assault Quad on the inside, they replaced its rear-mounted box missile launcher with a four-barreled laser cannon platform! the Venom Striker comes in Classic and Saga styles!
the Stun: the vehicle of choice for the Cobra Recon and Perimeter Defense Forces, the Stun is a three-wheeled, off-road vehicle. Lightly armored but heavily armed, the Stun can assault anything within one hundred and eighty degrees of its current location! Availability:
