The elite amongst Destro's personal guard, his Iron Grenadiers are highly trained subversives. While they do not possess super-human abilities, they are given numerous high tech implements to further the aims of their boss, thus making them all high tech villains.
Hindrances / Augmentations:
Body Armor (s): in addition to obscuring their features entirely, the uniform of each Iron Grenadier acts as a form of armor! It provides most of their body intensity 4, or +1, protection from physical attack, though this is raised to intensity 8, or +2, around their helmeted head.
Laser Pistol (a): a highly advanced sidearm, this weapon serves as a backup piece for the Iron Grenaders. They may fire a beam of coherent photons from it at their foes to inflict their Agility +4 in Armor Piercing Energy damage, doing so six times per charged power pack.
Saber (s): while ornate, these blades are certainly not for merely ceremonial purposes. Each Iron Grenadier has a saber made from m.s. 13 materials, which they can use to cut through items of up to like m.s., or to inflict their Strength +4 in slashing damage.
Submachine Gun (a): their primary armament, Iron Grenadiers may fire a single round from this weapon to inflict their Agility +4 in damage, a short burst of rounds to inflict their Agility +5 in damage, or fire it continuously to inflict their Agility +6 in damage.
Advanced Guns (a): carrying directed energy weapons in the field, Iron Grenadiers are well-trained in their proper usage. Whether handling coherent laser emitters, ionized particle blasters, or any other energy caster, an Iron Grenadier may do so at a reduced difficulty.
Boxing (s): while heavily armed and armored, Iron Grenadiers can competently defend themselves even without their special toys. They may divide their pre-card play action score between two unarmed melee attacks, the second of which occurs as a contingent action.
Detective / Espionage (i): their primary job, Iron Grenadiers are well-versed in various subversive techniques. They use this skill to spy on and sabotage the nations targeted by Destro, destabilizing entire regions to bolster the arms sales of the MARS corporation.
Guns (a): the better to demonstrate their use to prospective clients, Iron Grenadiers are continuously drilled in the use of all modern firearms. Whether standard, semi-automatic, or fully automatic, an Iron Grenadier may discharge such firearms at a reduced difficulty.
Military (w): the Iron Grenadiers are highly disciplined, with most developing such via some military outfit or another, and Destro supplements this with his own training regimen. As a result, Iron Grenadiers invariably function well in a fighting unit, whether Destro's or any other.
The Iron Grenadiers can readily be considered a reliable contact of its eponymous operatives. Destro's elite, hand-picked personal army may be mercenary in nature, but his personnel fight and live together, and is thus a much more cohesive organization than, say, Cobra.
Greed: Iron Grenadiers do get along with one another, and even share a modicum of camaraderie, but they aren't remotely motivated by loyalty. No, they are almost exclusively fueled by greed and greed alone, which is why Destro pays enough to keep even them in line.
The Iron Grenadiers wear a primarily black suit of padded combat armor into the field, featuring black boots with red trim, a red holster and belt, a golden scabbard, a black and a gold wrist band, a red and gold spaulder, and a black helmet with a black visor and a red face plate.
The Iron Grenadiers began as a small group that served as the guard of Destro, within his family palace in Scotland. When Destro decided that Cobra no longer served his purposes, he crafted them into the first wave of his personal army, whose soldiers bear the group's name.
In time, Destro supplemented this force with mercenaries from around the world, hand-picked by him for their skills, usually betraying whatever force they were assigned to upon joining. Naturally, this gives the Iron Grenadiers something of a bad reputation.
However, regardless of the talents they possessed before pledging allegiance to Destro, Iron Grenadiers are all rigorously trained in the skills Destro finds desirable in a paramilitary force. To wit, they are excellent saboteurs, spies, and, of course, salesmen!
Acting to destabilize governments in hotspots around the world, Destro's Iron Grenadiers create a market for his arms manufacturer, MARS. He then sells his wares to all sides in a conflict, and the Iron Grendiers get a cut of gross sales figures - making them highly motivated.
Thus, while joining the Iron Grenadiers is often an act of betrayal, Destro keeps his men and women in line by dangling a ludicrous financial opportunity in front of them for those who seize it. Which is basically what Cobra does - though Destro ultimately pays better.
Mortar (i): this weapon allows Iron Grenadiers to launch various projectiles, with significant range, at their targets. The shells that this mortar can fire typically inflict intensity 13 damage, and Iron Grenadiers can load several types of canisters into it, including:
* Explosive Canisters (i): these dangerous shells cause slashing damage to everything within near missile distance of their impact site, making them excellent weapons for the purposes of destroying tanks, buildings, or just about anything else, really.
* Incendiary Canisters (i): these deadly shells detonate to coat everybody within near missile distance of their impact with horrible napalm, which inflicts 2x SD energy damage (reduced by two each subsequent exchange until resisted).
* Smoke Canisters (i): these shells can obscure a target area with exceptional ability. Iron Grenadiers can essentially rob those within near missile distance of where they hit of their action on a successful average difficulty mortar (strength) action, doing so by blinding them.
Rifle (v2): using this weapon, Iron Grenadiers can inflict damage at considerable range. Though they lack a semi-automatic option, these firearms can discharge rounds that inflict one's Agility +5 in damage, which makes them perfect for assassinations and ambushes.
The second Iron Grenadier uniform is an all-new affair. It features full-body black armor with blue trim and red padding, black boots, black knee pads and pauldrons adorned with red cobras, a steel bandoiler, steel wrist bands, and black helmets with mirrored visors.

Knives (s): Iron Grenadiers utilize stylized, lightning bolt daggers instead of sabers this year. They are made from m.s. 13 materials, can be used to cut through items of up to like m.s. with enough time, and inflict +2 slashing damage in melee combat.
The fifth Iron Grenadier uniform is based on the first. It consists of black padded body armor, featuring black boots with gray shin guards, a red belt, bandoiler, holster, and sheath, gold spaulders and hip guards, and a black helmet with a black visor and a red face plate.

Body Armor (s): their heavier defensive outfit in 2011 provides Iron Grenadiers bolstered protection. It still gives them intensity 4, or +1, base protection against conventional assault, though this is raised to intensity 8, or +2, on their heads, chests, forearms, shoulders, and shins.
Heavy Assault Rifle (a): a significant upgrade to their usual gear, the Iron Grenadiers carried an immense rifle in 2011. It can fire a short burst of ammunition to inflict their Agility +6 in damage, or be fired continuously to inflict their Agility +7 in damage.
The seventh Iron Grenadier uniform is an all-new ensemble. It consists of a gray camouflage body armor suit, coupled with black padded leather boots and gloves, a red armored vest, red arm guards, a red and a black pauldron, and a gray helmet with a gray face plate and black visor.
Their eighth field uniform is a slight variation on the seventh. It is comprised of a gray body armor suit, coupled with black padded leather boots and gloves, a red armored vest, red arm guards, a red and a black pauldron, and a gray helmet with a gray face plate and black visor.
The ninth Iron Grenadier uniform is another new ensemble. It features a gray padded armor suit beneath a long gray coat with red trim, brown hip-hugger boots, brown gloves with red trim, a red and a brown belt, a black bandoiler, and a gray helmet with a red face plate and black visor.
Body Armor (s): their heavier defensive outfit in 2015 provides Iron Grenadiers bolstered protection. It still gives them intensity 4, or +1, base protection against conventional assault, though this is raised to intensity 8, or +2, on their heads, chests, forearms, shoulders, and shins.
