Origin:
As are most of his of his fellow Joes, Sideswipe is but an ordinary human, a man who lacks ascendant powers of any stripe. No, all he has to get him through a GI Joe mission is a fully stocked first aid kit, his medical skills, and of course, his considerable strength.
Powers:
(none)
Hindrances / Augmentations:
(none)
Equipment:
Comm Suite (i): Sideswipe carries a communications suite with him on missions, so he can call in medical evacuations of wounded personnel. These systems, usually consisting of a backpack with a helmet-mounted mouthpiece, work with intensity 5 power (25 mile range).
Dagger (s): Sideswipe carries two of these utilitarian blades with him while on the job. These blades were manufactured from m.s. 13 metals, and can cut through objects of like m.s., given enough time. Sideswipe can also use these to inflict +2 slashing damage in melee.
First-Aid Kit (i): his stock in trade, Sideswipe always carries a first aid kit with him. His kit consists of various medicines, antibiotics, drugs, sterilized medical tools, and even a small oxygen tank. Sideswipe also carries extra first aid gear in various pouches and such.
Flare Gun (i): while it can conceivably be used offensively, Sideswipe's flare gun isn't really meant to inflict damage. It can fire a burning projectile high into the air, signaling his location to others or to send specific, pre-arranged message.
Flashlight (i): Sideswipe carries one of these with him in the field, usually mounted on his gravity sled. He can use this oversized lamp to produce intensity 8 illumination within near missile distance, allowing him to pierce the night and easily find wounded soldiers and innocents.
Gravity Sled (i): Sideswipe's gravity sled is basically a small hover platform, which he can ride either standing up or prone. The thing can glide over most any terrain at intensity 1 air speed (30 MPH) safely, or fly at up to intensity 2 speeds (60 MPH) in an emergency.
Sidearm (a): Sideswipe always carries a standard-issue firearm with him on GI Joe missions. When necessary, he can discharge a single round from this weapon to inflict his Agility +4 in damage, or a three-round burst to inflict his Agility +5 in damage.
Skills:
Boxing (s): one skill he picked up in Army basic training is the ability to defend himself unarmed should he need to. In unarmed melee, Sideswipe can divide his pre-card play action score between two attacks, the last of which he may attempt as a contingent action.
First Aid (i): Sideswipe has been a paramedic for years. When treating a dying person, he can make use of a limited form of the Medicine skill, allowing him to restore one card worth of lost Health to a body who was KO'd in the last exchange with an average difficulty Intellect action.
Guns (a): another skill he gained as a result of enlisting, Sideswipe is now competent with most firearms. Whether it be a standard, semi-automatic, or fully automatic rifle or pistol, or even esoteric weapons like shotguns, Sideswipe can fire them at a reduced difficulty.
Military / United States (w): though he didn't begin his adult career with the military in mind, Sideswipe eventually joined up to do his duty. As such, he knows military protocols and procedures like the back of his hand, and has several additional military contacts.
Costume:
In the field, Sideswipe wears a dark gray trousers, brown leather boots with black ankle guards, a red turtleneck sweater under a light gray jacket, black gloves, a black leather belt, and black web gear, pouches, holsters, and sheathes to hold various emergency and combat gear.
Calling:
Protector, with a secondary calling of Guardian: ever since his youth, Sideswipe has wanted to be some sort of medical professional, basically because he wanted to help people. Of course, having since joined the military, he now sees himself as the protector of the wounded.
Personality:
Andrew always wanted to be a medical practitioner, and worked hard to get his wish. He wants nothing other than to help others, particularly those brave soldiers that risk their lives daily in the fight for freedom. Of course, he doesn't mind mixing it up with the enemy himself, either.

Story:
Sideswipe was a bright young kid who always wanted to be a doctor, or at least work in the medical field in some capacity. When he was a kid, he always pretended to be the medic during those classic neighborhood 'block wars', helping his fallen comrades get to safety and such.
While the realm of offices and clinics didn't appeal to him, he never believed he would be reliving those childhood games as an adult - if in a much more realistic capacity. But he did enlist to take advantage of the GI Bill, and became a field medic in the service of his nation.
Having worked out intensely since he was young, Sideswipe is so strong that he can even carry two wounded soldiers to safety simultaneously when needed! His keen medical skills, as well as his great strength and willingness to fight tooth and nail, definitely got Sideswipe noticed.
Before he knew it, he was scooped up by the GI Joe team. After he passed the fiercely difficult qualification exams, Sideswipe became a member of the world's greatest fighting force, and began to see more weekly action than most soldiers do in a lifetime... and he loved every minute of it!
Sideswipe's not an action junkie, but does feel he has a very important job as one of GI Joe's medics. As such, whenever he's in the field and helping someone who's down, he often breaks out new emergency medical techniques that he's dug up from who-knows-where - but they work.
And that's what makes the guy such a great Joe!
