Like most members of the GI Joe team, Major Barrage is naught but a normal human, lacking special powers of any stripe. He is a giant of a man, however, and will trounce the forces of Cobra with his fists as often as he will with his twin assault shotguns.
Limitations / Enhancements:
Grenade: Major Barrage always carries at least one grenade on him in the field, pinned to his vest. He can fling this explosive anywhere within his normal thrown weapon range, inflicting Remarkable (30) Edged Attack damage to all uncovered targets inside its detonation area.
Knife: you never know when you'll need to cut something on a mission - or somebody! This knife, made from Incredible (40) m.s. metals, can be used in Major Barrage's hands to inflict his Strength rank in Edged Attack damage, or cut through items of up to like m.s.
Shotguns: if his staggering size and aggressive menace aren't enough to make an impression on others, his dual pistol-grip shotguns are more than enough to pick up the slack. When dual wielding, he can increase the damage he inflicts by +1 CS when bursting.
When wielded normally, these weapons can fire birdshot to inflict Typical (6) Shooting damage to everyone within a sixty-degree arc, buckshot to inflict Good (10) Shooting damage to adjacent targets, or slugs to inflict Excellent (20) Shooting damage to a single target.
Guns: a skill most military recruits learn by default, Major Barrage has mastered the use of most modern firearms. Whether he's wielding a standard, semi-automatic, or fully automatic rifle or pistol, Major Barrage may do so as if his Agility score was +1 CS in rank.
Marksman: his primary military specialty, Major Barrage is an expert marksman. He's good with all weapons with a line-of-sight range, such as mortars and rocket launchers, and may wield such weaponry as the applicable ability score +1 CS.
Martial Arts types B and C: Major Barrage is a powerful fighter. He receives a +1 CS to his Fighting when attempting unarmed melee attacks, a +1 CS to his Strength when Grappling (including damage) and Escaping, and a +1 CS to his Agility while attempting to Dodge attacks.
Military / United States: the source of most of Major Barrage's skills, this talent acts as an origin of sorts for the man. It shows how he can easily function in a military environment, and details just how well he is aware of the Standard Operating Procedure.
Two Guns: a skill he's mastered on his own, Major Barrage may attack with two firearms simultaneously - without penalty. This talent either gives him an additional firearm attack per turn, or allows him to fire two simultaneously (as he does with his assault shotguns) for extra damage.
Wrestling: Major Barrage knows how to leverage his size and strength effectively. He may Grapple opponents as though his Strength was +3 CS in rank (thanks to his Martial Arts B and C), and can inflict +1 CS to the damage such attacks cause (thanks to his Martial Arts type B).
Known by most of his cohorts as Major Barrage, David may easily rely upon the Joes for assistance should he but ask; they're usually more than happy to, since the team's a tightly knit group. Major Barrage has additional contacts in academic, military, and sports circles.
Major Barrage wears a simple, yet practical uniform while functioning as Major Barrage. It consists of a white tank top beneath a dark green, pocket-laden vest, green and brown camouflage trousers, brown leather boots, gray leather gloves, and a black leather belt.
David is known to have a bad temper, and is more than happy to let his fists broadcast his emotions. He doesn't usually take his rage out on his teammates, however, or else he wouldn't be a Major! If he doesn't get to stomp some Cobras with some frequency, though, you never know!
Real Name: David Vennemeyer, Grade O-4
Occupation: artillery, physical fitness instructor
Legal Status: citizen of the United States with no known criminal record
Marital Status: single
Alias(es), if any: none
Group Affiliation: GI Joe
Height: 6' 8"
Weight: 300 lbs
Other Distinguishing Characteristics: he's huge! Aside from that, the good Major wears a goatee at all times, and keeps his hair cropped particularly short.
David is a large and imposing fellow. Standing at six foot eight and weighing in at three hundred pounds, the man was a natural for his high school wrestling team. Of course nobody could touch him in the ring, and he went on to win championship after championship.
This went on throughout high school, and then in college, though David met his match (after a fashion) in the form of his rival, Jared Wade. This fellow is the only guy who has ever pinned David in a match - though the two were neck in neck in competitions.
Until David blew his knee out in a match with Jared - which prevented him from participating in the Olympic tryouts. Respect for the man turned into resentment, and since his Olympic hopes were dashed, David decided to enlist in the Army after college instead.
Proving himself time and time again, David was made a Major, and when his staggering ability both on and off the battle field became apparent, David was recruited onto the GI Joe team. For someone of his size and stubbornness, getting through their entrance exams was easy.
Though even David had problems getting past the GI Joe Obstacle Course.
Taking the code name Major Barrage, since he was, you know, a Major, David went on to prove his mettle with his newfound teammates. An artillery expert (hence the second half of his code name), David also helps the Joe team keep in tip top shape while not on missions.
He's a well-known sight to Joes and Cobras alike, who are almost used to seeing the behemoth of a man barreling into combat with naught but his twin shotguns to fight evil - and when they run out of ammunition, David's more than happy to simply pummel Cobras into submission!
Of course, there's one Joe that David not only does not get along with, but tends to actually fight with. You see, it turns out that his old enemy Jared managed to make the GI Joe team as well, doing so in a part-time capacity as one of their Steel Brigadiers.
The two are not on good terms as you can guess, and brawl as often as not. But they put their differences aside when Cobra's up to no good.
And even though Cobra has been routed, they can work together to help round up those members of that group who have evaded capture to date. Even if they don't like doing so.
