GI Joe: 2005 Personnel and Equipment
Personnel:
Barrel Roll: Dwight E. Stall comes from a family with a long tradition of military service. He is the first of three siblings to complete the GI Joe's training course, and has proven to be a most capable soldier, whether he's on the ground or in the skies! Availability:
Bazooka: a former tank jockey until his sudden epiphany about untrained yahoos immobilizing million dollar hardware with two hundred dollar handheld rockets, Bazooka instead became a missile specialist himself, plying his trade for the GI Joe team! Availability:
Bombstrike: Alyssa has shown once again that her family is destined for greatness. Having earned her place on the GI Joe team as a forward air controller and counterintelligence expert, Alyssa is already proving that the Joes know talent when they see it! Availability:
Cannonball: an endurance test driver for a variety of vehicles, John Warden is known for utterly destroying his ride - just to see what it can do! He's done this for civilian vehicle companies, military contractors, and most recently as a member of GI Joe! Availability:
Depth Charge: Nick joined the Navy to get experience in explosives handling, and his particular job involves him detonating such devices beneath the waves. This would be perfect, except for the fact that Nick simply loathes getting into the water! Availability:
Footloose: Footloose was an overachiever in his formative years, a trait which continued until he suddenly dropped out of college and vanished for years. Eventually coming to his senses, he enlisted in the Army to find purpose in his life - and he has! Availability:
Gung-Ho: raised in a swamp, until forced to fend for himself on the streets of New Orleans with naught but a blade, Gung-Ho found his time in Parris Island like unto a vacation. Perhaps that's why the GI Joe team so eagerly recruited him! Availability:
Long Range 2: born in Monterrey, Mexico, Alejandro Garcia moved to America as a youth, and enlisted to become a transportation expert. Possessed of a philosophical bent, Alejandro applies wisdom (and live fire) to his problems, which usually evaporate fast! Availability:
Major Barrage: a towering behemoth with a terrible temper, David Vennemeyer cuts an imposing figure. One that his fellows on the GI Joe team is happy to see wading into combat against Cobra... because that means his ire is pointed away from them, for once! Availability:
Mutt & Junkyard: an amazing animal handling ability caused Stanley to gravitate towards military K-9 units upon enlisting, which ultimately led to his assignment to the GI Joe team! There, he and Junkyard provide security on base and in the field. Availability:
Recondo: growing up to hate Wisconsin's cold winters, young Daniel wanted to explore the deepest African jungles as a child - and grew up to do just that. Both on and off the Joe team, Daniel has become an expert in jungle combat - and many other disciplines! Availability:
Rollbar: an unrepentant gear head and street tuner, Robert enlisted to play with the truly heavy gear the Army's got on hand, not to mention doing something more important with his life. Thanks to his obsessive level of skill, Robert has managed both! Availability:
Salvo: David is quite like Rampart, having joined the military to indulge in his favorite hobby. The difference is that while Rampart blows things up as a part of his love for computerized gaming action, David prefers a more 'low tech' approach! Availability:
Shipwreck: born and raised around the San Diego Naval Grounds, young Hector X Delgado was practically fated to become a sailor - and he joined the Navy to do just that. He was good enough at his job to eventually become a Joe - and even a Navy SEAL! Availability:
Spirit: a psychologist and Vietnam veteran, Charlie is an expert woodsman that brings considerable talent to GI Joe. His fellows fail to understand him now and then, but they respect his skill and his ability to keep them alive! Availability:
Doctor Link Talbot: a Navy SEAL and a third generation veterinarian, Doctor Link Talbot is a highly skilled member of GI Joe, who didn't join out of choice but out of necessity; it was the only way to protect the animals in his zoo from Cobra chicanery! Availability:
Tiger Claw: obsessed with ninjas after watching a seemingly profound martial arts movie as a child, Chad M. Johnson pursued a life amongst them. This culminated with him not only becoming Snake-Eyes' apprentice, but joining the Arashikage ninja clan! Availability:
Tunnel Rat: raised on the surly streets of Brooklyn back in the day, Tunnel Rat grew up to be tough, indomitable, and somewhat jaded. Always looking for a good challenge, he's more than ready to climb into nasty Cobra tunnels to ferret out the bad guys! Availability:
Wild Bill: William Hardy is one of the single most friendly people you'll ever meet, not to mention the greatest helicopter pilot youll ever know. He's crashed more aircraft than most pilots actually fly, but then he's also seen more combat than them, as well! Availability:
Disavowed GI Joe Personnel:
GI Joe Greenshirts / Reservists: the GI Joe Reservists, or Greenshirts as they've come to be known, are Joe trainees. These 'kids' are the best conventional American military training has produced, though they need just a bit 'more' to become official Joes. Availability:
Kamakura: Snake-Eyes' apprentice, Kamakura is Sean Collins, the adopted son of Vietnam veteran (and former Crimson Guardsman) Wade Collins. Sean works hard to prove himself, both in the eyes of his father and his new fellows in the Arashikage ninja clan! Availability:
Flashback Figures:
Flash: logical and methodical, Anthony had already mastered several areas of electronic knowledge before joining the Army. After working his way through a bevy of advanced Army schools, he became a specialist in laser weaponry, and the Joe team's lab techie. Availability:
Heavy Assault Squad:
Duke: with his years of experience in special ops, Duke was an excellent choice to be GI Joe's field leader. Second only to Hawk in the team's command structure, Duke has consistently led the Joes to victory against Cobra over the years! Availability:
Roadblock: aspiring to be one of the world's greatest chefs since he was a child, Marvin put himself through the Escoffier School in France. Subsequently enlisting in the Army to learn from their chefs as well, Marvin became quite the machine gunner, too! Availability:
Snake-Eyes: a singularly mysterious man, the commando known only as Snake-Eyes has experienced nothing but tragedy in his life. However, he's persevered through the years, and become a true force to be reckoned with - as would any other ninja master! Availability:
Night Force:
Beach Head: one of the hardest, meanest Rangers ever to come out of Fort Benning, Wayne is a perfect addition to GI Joe, as his never-ending quest for personal perfection tends to rub off on others - even if it does so in a somewhat abrasive fashion! Availability:
Flint: enlisting after he grew bored with the life of an academic, Flint utilized both his innate intelligence and brash confidence to excel in various elite specialties - which ultimately saw him being recruited onto the GI Joe team by Duke himself! Availability:
Steel Brigade:
Steel Brigade Commanders: only one individual can claim this rank at any given time, but while individual Steel Brigade Commanders come and go, there's no denying the essential role these leaders have in maintaining GI Joe's support apparatus! Availability:
Steel Brigade Paratroopers: the first specialists amongst their part-time help, GI Joe's Steel Brigade Paratroopers are Steel Brigadiers who work behind enemy lines when called upon, most often in a forward observation role, but often more aggressively! Availability:
Winter Operations:
Backblast: after growing up in the shadow of New York City's greatest airport, Edward J. Menninger decided he'd had more than enough. Hating airplanes after years of exposure to their loud noise and bright lights, he enlisted to get a job blowing the things up! Availability:
Frostbite: born in crisp, cool Galena, Alaska, Frostbite grew up to handle the snow and ice like second nature. This taught him how to easily do almost any job under such conditions, whether fixing a leaky oil pipeline or driving the Snow Cat into battle! Availability:
Mirage: exceptionally proficient with line-of-sight weaponry, Joseph was recruited onto the GI Joe team, and then into their elite Mega-Marines sub-unit, to fight Cobra's freak-show genetic experiments. This is a fight that continues to this very day, it seems! Availability:
Short-Fuze: coming from two previous generations of Army guys, it was only natural that Eric would himself enlist. His natural mathematical capabilities made him a demon with a mortar, a skill which made him a candidate for the new GI Joe team! Availability:
Snake-Eyes: a singularly mysterious man, the commando known only as Snake-Eyes has experienced nothing but tragedy in his life. However, he's persevered through the years, and become a true force to be reckoned with - as would any other ninja master! Availability:
Stalker: though he started out as an urban warlord in Detroit, Lonzo cleaned up his act and joined the Army, quickly becoming one of its very best operatives. A qualified Ranger, helicopter pilot, and field medic, Lonzo is an invaluable GI Joe operative! Availability:
Equipment:
the Desert Coyote: to picture the Desert Coyote, imagine a weaponized go-kart. Yes, GI Joe made use of such a vehicle, armed and armored as much as is physically possible, to make lightning raids on Cobra territory. It may be small, but packs a crazy punch! Availability:
the Humvee (Desert, Night Ops): a vehicle typically used by regular military forces, the Humvee has also been adopted by GI Joe as well. Cheaper than their Hammers or Brawler IIs, the Humvee is a quick and versatile ride with multiple armaments. Availability:
the Ninja Lightning Cycle: a revamp of the old-style, Ninja Force vehicle, the Ninja Lightning Cycle is a much more efficient version of ninja motorcycle. It moved the launcher from a side car into the cycle itself, and received a new paint job in the process! Availability:
the RHINO: another in a long line of two-in-one GI Joe devices, the Rapid Heli-Integrated Neutralizing Offensive Vehicle, or RHINO, is a tough ground transport with a built-in helicopter, allowing it to provide its own air support when necessary! Availability:
the ROCC: a heavily fortified tractor trailer, the Rolling Operations Command Center (or ROCC) is the latest in a long line of GI Joe field bases. The difference between the ROCC and the others is the simple fact that the ROCC is inherently mobile! Availability:
the Wave Crusher: a small clandestine craft used by the GI Joe team (though mainly Depth Charge), the Wave Crusher is a water sled that can be converted into a Cobra jet ski, allowing its operator to sneak into the ranks of those terrorists undetected! Availability:
Built To Rule (BTR):
the Freedom Defense Outpost: the last addition to GI Joe's BTR arsenal, the Freedom Defense Outpost is a prefabricated tower and motor cycle combo that may be assembled in one of two different modes - and switched between the two with in just a few minutes! Availability:
Night Force:
the Night Ray Mark 2 - the GI Joe Moray: since both the Tiger Force and the Night Force have proven that GI Joe can make use of Cobra's Moray design, the Night Force modernized its electronics to keep making use of these attack boats! Availability:
Steel Brigade:
the Steel Brigade Sky Hawk: handy when standard air support and cover simply isn't practical and/or possible, the Sky Hawk is a small, lightweight vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) aircraft that can easily help the Joes attain air superiority! Availability:
