the Humvee
As did the rest of the military for the most part, GI Joe adopted the Humvee for a variety of purposes in this particular year against Cobra. Sure, they wielded the Hammer and the Brawler II, both enhanced versions of the Humvee, but... the regular Humvee is somewhat cheaper.
And, of course, a lot easier to find replace parts for. The Joes' Humvees are nonetheless versatile, as their model has interchangeable weaponry as well as variable color schemes. The Humvees the Joes used in 2004 had a jungle camouflage theme, and have these abilities:
C Gd 10 |
S Rm 30 |
B Rm 30 |
P Gd 10 |
Armored Construction: the Humvee is built with a hardened, solid steel frame, a shrapnel-resistant passenger cover, and all-terrain, self-sealing tires, providing it the Body score listed above, and the indicated Protection for passengers riding within.
Communications Array: the GI Joe Humvee is equipped with a powerful, gigahertz-frequency, frequency-wobbler radio system. This provides Good (10) communications power (with a 25 mile range) that features Remarkable (30) ranked signal encryption - not bad at all, that.
Halogen Lamps: these twin lamps, mounted on front of the Humvee, are powerful light casting implements capable of producing Remarkable (30) illumination. This helps to deal with night conditions, and can provide an improvised blinding attack under certain (surprise) conditions.
Machine Guns: two of the weapons that can be mounted in the Humvee's roof are machine guns. Both may fire short, controlled bursts to inflict Excellent (20) Shooting damage, or Remarkable (30) Shooting damage when dishing out a fully automatic spread of lead.
TOW Launcher: for heavier opponents, the Humvee can be equipped with a TOW (Tube-launched, Optically-tracked, Wire data link guided missile) launcher. This projectile is powerful enough to penetrate tank armor, and has these characteristics:
C Ex 20 |
S Am 50 |
B Ex 20 |
Damage Incredible (40) Edged Attack (fragmentary) |
2005 Variations
the Desert Humvee, the Night Ops Humvee
GI Joe continued to acquire Humvees for its use in the fight against Cobra in 2005. They were given different color schemes this time around, for use with various mission profiles. The Desert Humvee is khakis in color, while the Night Ops one is black and dark green.
