As is the case with most GI Joes, Salvo has no special powers. He lacks bulky cybernetic implants, god-like powers granted by divine ancestors, or magically powered artifacts. However, he does carry an inordinate amount of conventional explosives with him on the job!
Hindrances / Augmentations:
Helmet (s): Salvo wears a helmet in the field, mostly because he knows just how lethal his equipment is. This headgear provides him intensity 8, or +2, protection from attacks that strike him in the head, defense which also applies to his eyes thanks to a shatter-resistant visor.
Mine Layer (i): the secondary weapon in his anti-armor arsenal, this device allows Salvo to quickly and safely deploy mines in an area. Inflicting intensity 10 fragmentary (physical) damage to whatever happens to set them off, these mines can be activated by pressure or impact.
Missile Launcher (i): the primary implement in his role as an anti-armor trooper, this weapon allows Salvo to destroy almost anything he encounters. These rockets inflict intensity 10 damage to everything within near missile distance of their impact point.
Sidearm (a): holstered most of the time, this weapon is a convenient backup in the event that Salvo's explosives aren't handy. He can fire a single round from this piece to inflict his Agility +4 in damage, or a short burst of such to inflict his Agility +5 in damage.
Artillery (a): to fulfill his primary specialty of blowing things up, Salvo was trained in the use of most serious military hardware. He can wield most line of sight weaponry, usually devices rated with a really high caliber, at one difficulty level lower than would normally be necessary.
Boxing (s): another part of Salvo's basic military training, this skill describes his ability to fight even if he runs out of explosives. He has the ability to divide his pre-card play action score between two unarmed melee strikes, the last of which occurs as a contingent action.
Guns (a): a large portion of Salvo's Army basic training involved an education in the fine art of utilizing firearms. Whether he's brandishing standard, semi-automatic, or fully automatic rifles or pistols, Salvo may do so at one difficulty level lower than is usually required.
Military / United States (w): the font of his many talents, this skill serves as a handy origin for Salvo. It gives him an ingrained understanding of military policies and procedures (the SOP), as well as additional, unstated military contacts.
Repair / Tinkering (a): Salvo's secondary military specialty involves the repair of malfunctioning explosive devices. Of course, he's pretty competent at fixing most complex mechanical items, too, and he may attempt to fix such things at one difficulty level lower than usual.
A member of the elite GI Joe team, Salvo can rely upon his teammates for assistance without fail. The Joes know that they have little aid in their battle against Cobra, and as such are prepared to help each other no matter how difficult providing such assistance may be for them.
Thrill-Seeker, with a secondary calling of Soldier: though he's not in it solely for cheap thrills, Salvo really does like blowing things up. The Army lets him do so, so Salvo cheerfully tolerates the downside of the military life to regularly generate charred piles of Cobra armor.
When in the field, Salvo wears semi-casual wear. It includes a dark brown T-shirt with 'the Might of Right' written on it, green trousers, black leather boots and fingerless gloves, black, brown, and gold belts to hold tools, and a yellow helmet with green stripes on it.
David is something of a Luddite. Nonetheless, he enjoys blowing things up in the most spectacular manner possible. This means he generally enjoys his time with the GI Joe team, since there's always something or other that needs exploding.
Blowing things up to help your country... it doesn't get better than that!

Salvo really, really likes blowing things up. Sure, fireworks are fun, but they lack the impact of a rocket propelled grenade twisting metal objects beyond recognition. As such, Salvo got a job at the one place where he could scratch his explosive itch: the Army!
Breezing through Basic, Salvo managed to get an 11-H MOS assignment, and excelled to the point that he got to regularly deploy anti-armor and anti-personnel mines in hotspots around the world. Truly enjoying his work, Salvo only improved in the fine art of demolitions over time.
When GI Joe needed another anti-armor operative, the powers that be offered Salvo a position on the team. Knowing that the Joes have been in active combat against various terrorist organizations since 1982, he was more than happy to attempt its grueling entrance exam.
Surviving it with ease, Salvo was quickly put to work. His first mission was with Rock 'n Roll and Dusty, providing infantry support to an armored vehicle moving through the Cobra-besieged nation of Benzheen, where the trio found themselves in conflict with the insane Metal-Head.
Him being perhaps the one person on earth that likes blowing things up more than Salvo himself.
Mind you, Metal-Head uses all manner of advanced, computerized targeting mechanisms, the sort of high tech frippery that Salvo considers anathema to the fine art of Doing Business, which makes these two combatants perfect nemeses for each other.
Before the two could blow each other apart though, the official end of hostilities occurred, this when Cobra Commander successfully blackmailed Benzheen's Emir into paying him off in exchange for not totaling his oil reserves. Not that anyone was happy to stop fighting.
The next known conflict Salvo took part involved a Cobra assault on the Pit 3, launched to test the group's new radar suppression systems - a sort of upgrade to their old Pythonization process. Salvo took part in the defense against Cobra's BAT-based siege on the complex.
Though wiping out the Joes would've been nice, that wasn't the ultimate goal of this particular attack. As such, the villains counted this technology test as a victory, even though they were ultimately routed by the Joes - and lost untold millions of dollars in equipment damage.
The rest of Salvo's work with the GI Joe team has yet to be documented, since most of it was highly classified 'special missions', the details of which have yet to be revealed - even to this very day. Salvo ultimately stuck with the Joe team until it was disbanded in 1994.
At this point, Salvo returned to service with conventional military forces.
In time, the GI Joe team was reinstated to help combat a newly invigorated Cobra, though Salvo wasn't asked to serve anew - at least, not at first. However, in time they had need of his considerable experience against Cobra's heavy armor, and he ultimately found his way back.
Rejoining the Joes after the second Cobra Island Civil War, Salvo has been a member of the team ever since, presumably serving as a member to this very day. Cobra made a lot of messes to clean up in the wake of World War III, after all!
Submachine Gun (a): when rockets just aren't practical, Salvo can fire a single round from this weapon to inflict his Agility +4 in damage, a short burst of such to inflict his Agility +5 in damage, or fire it continuously to inflict his Agility +6 in damage.
This weapon is equipped with a bottom-mounted laser targeting device for a +1 to hit (though Salvo doesn't bother to use it).
Salvo's second GI Joe uniform is similar to his first. It includes a dark red T-shirt with 'the Might of Right' written on it, gray trousers, black leather boots, a red wrist watch, a black leather belt, black knee pads, and a black helmet with a mirrored visor covering his eyes.
Salvo's third GI Joe field uniform is like his first, consisting of a dark brown T-shirt with 'the Might of Right' written on it, green trousers, black leather boots and fingerless gloves, a black leather belt, brown holsters and knee pads, and a yellow helmet with green stripes on it.
