Origin:

As are the rest of Kickers, Inc. - with the notable exception of Mr. Magnificent - Darlene is naught but a normal human, lacking any sort of physical alterations, magical schooling, or psionic disciplines with which to manifest super-human powers. Of course, she has wielded a high tech stun baton on at least one occasion, so one could say that Darlene is a high tech heroine, but that is debatable.

Powers:

(none)

Hindrances / Augmentations:

(none)

Equipment:

Kevlar Uniform (s): while the original Kickers, Inc. uniform was simply made of ordinary fabrics, the team enhanced the nature of the thing before a particularly dangerous mission. While this simply meant augmenting the costume with a Kevlar vest, the Kickers, Inc. uniform has since been impregnated with that damage-resistant fabric, allowing it to offer intensity 4 (+1) protection from physical attacks.

Stun Baton (i): this device, looking something like a mace with a crackling head (at least, when it's active), was used by Darlene on her first mission outside of the United States. An essentially non-lethal device, this weapon can be used to inflict intensity 8 stunning damage upon an opponent when Darlene strikes him or her with it... this is much preferable to her than shooting people up...

Skills:

Boxing (s): Darlene was taught in the fine art of fisticuffs by her father, a Marine - one who did his job well, at that. As such, when unarmed, Darlene may divide her pre-card play action score between two separate attacks, the last of which will occur as a contingent action - a perk that comes in handy when facing down multiple opponents!

Finance (w): like Beauford, Darlene has a sense for business. While he's more of a financial whiz kid, Darlene truly has a knack for the proper management of a company, no matter what it may be selling. She can almost sense what is good for business and what isn't, and this common sense allows her to bring her Willpower to bear in any action to manage a company, regardless of its size.

Martial Arts (a): another skill her father trained her in, Darlene is a competent martial artist, and can defend herself easily. As such, she benefits from the ability to reduce the difficulty of actions intended to strike in unarmed melee combat, dodge incoming assaults (melee or ranged), and lower falling damage, by one difficulty level each.

Contacts:

As one of the five members of Kickers, Inc., Darlene can easily rely on her fellow investigators of the bizarre for aid should he need it; they, of course, are Jack 'Mr. Magnificent' Magniconte, Thomas 'Suicide' Smythe, Dallas 'Dasher' Corbin, and Beauford 'Brick Wall' Wohl. Being in charge of Kickers, Inc.'s more mundane, day-to-day operations, Darlene also has several friends in the company's support staff.

Calling:

Investigator, with a secondary calling of Mentor: Darlene, like most of the other Kickers, are on the whole paranormal investigation kick not just because it's something to do, but because it's interesting. However, Darlene also seems to spend lots of time helping Jack adjust to the reality of his super-human powers, as it usually takes her common sense to stop him from doing really stupid things.

Costume:

When she's in action with the rest of Kickers, Inc., Darlene wears the same basic uniform as her fellows. It consists of a white pair of trousers, a white, long-sleeved shirt, a blue vest with various pockets presumably full of adventuring gear, a white pair of leather boots, a white head band, and red leg warmers that Darlene typically wears over her leather boots.

Personality:

Darlene is a smart and savvy business woman - that's why the rest of the Kickers needed her, after all. She takes care of the mundane side of the Kickers enterprise while they play football, and she does it well. Darlene isn't one to sit on the sidelines, however; she's a strong, confident person who isn't afraid to tell people what she thinks - and is willing to act on her opinions!

Story:

Darlene is a rather ordinary young business woman, when you get down to it, save for one exceptional fact: she's married to the one and only Jack Magniconte! More commonly known as Mr. Magnificent, this pro football player is a quarterback for the New York Smashers, an NFL team showing serious promise. Of course, one wouldn't think that all too weird, since football players are people, too.

The trick, though, is that Jack developed incredible paranormal powers in the wake of the White Event, powers that set him above and beyond his peers. After growing tired of football, since his 'edge' was removing all of the challenge inherent to the game, Jack decided that he wanted to use his powers to help the little guy, folks who had oddball problems and couldn't turn to anyone else.

He may've decided this after his brother was killed by mobsters, in a Spider-Man style epiphany, but Darlene was nonetheless there to help him out. She helped Jack, along with several of his football buddies, to form Kickers, Inc., a non-profit group that would go around and look into oddball mysteries and such. Of course, Darlene wanted in on the action, so she joined them on their investigations.

While Kickers, Inc. did their thing in helping others, Darlene was also helping Jack to cope with his newly found abilities and the dramatic effect they were having on his life - and the lives of those around him. Eventually, though, all good things come to an end, and after the CIA found out that Jack was a paranormal, he joined the Army to avoid their clandestine clutches.

Though their main paranormal muscle was now gone, Darlene and her fellow Kickers continued on in their mission to help others in need of assistance against the bizarre, and with paranormals ever increasing in number, they were likely to have their hands full for a very long time. As far as one can tell, Kickers, Inc. was in business at least until the hectic events surrounding the War.

After that, Darlene was reunited with her husband, Jack, who went on to serve for a time in the government's Paranormal Platoon before going solo as the All-American. Darlene's fate, as well as that of the other members of Kickers, Inc., has yet to be revealed. However, since her world was destined to suffer increasingly strange occurrences, it's likely that Darlene is still one of the Kickers!
