Colonel MacIntyre Browning is naught but a normal human, lacking ascendant powers of any variety, whether they come from oversized red suits of combat armor, mutations caused by the White Event, or even some sort of magical schooling or superhuman lifestyle of some kind.

Equipment:

Pistol: while he's rarely put in a combat situation, the Colonel nonetheless carries a piece with him while on duty, since his job has turned so darn dangerous. This semi-automatic firearm inflicts rank value 6 Piercing damage in a single shot, raised +1 RS in a semi-auto burst.

While this is all the equipment he carries on him, the Colonel can conceivably get just about any conventional hardware he needs from the Army, since he's in the DIA, and is also in charge of highly volatile paranormal situations - anything from weapons to vehicles to personnel!

Quirks:

Stubborn: while he is intelligent, and can sometimes accept advice from others, Colonel Mac sometimes finds himself unable to let go of some harebrained notion or another. He must pass a Willpower ACT at -2 RS to change his mind under stress, should he want to.

Skills:

Detective / Espionage: a high-ranking member of the Army's DIA, Colonel Browning is well-versed in intelligence gathering techniques, among other things. Whenever investigating activities or collecting information, he should receive a +1 RS on applicable ACT rolls.

Guns: though he'd rather not use one, Mac can fire pretty much any firearm if necessary. Whether it be a standard, semi-automatic, or fully automatic rifle or pistol, or even a shotgun, the Colonel can wield it as though his Coordination trait was +1 RS higher than is listed above.

Martial Arts style A: the Colonel can defend himself should he find himself unarmed in combat. He may inflict Pound or Concuss results on an opponent regardless of the differences in Brawn or Fortitude between him and his foe - for as long as he can damage said opponent.

Military / United States: it may go without saying, but Mac has this skill as a general matter of course. Having learned military protocols and procedures in his many years of service, this talent accounts for the Colonel's many other skills, as well as his Military contacts.

Contacts:

As a ranking member of the Army's Defense Intelligence Agency, the Colonel has thousands of people he can rely on for aid should he need it during an operation, from legions of troops, technicians, and support personnel - as well as superiors who can supply him with military gear.

Costume:

The Colonel doesn't wear a costume, simply utilizing standard Army wear while on the job. This consists of Army green trousers, an Army green, long-sleeved shirt, a black pair of leather boots, a black leather belt with green pouches to store various items, and a brown holster for his firearm.

Personality:

Colonel Mac is a good man who has found himself thrust into situations far beyond his control - much less his understanding. He tries to do his best to make things right, but finds himself making increasingly more difficult decisions, many of which seem to blow up in his face.

He tries hard, but doesn't feel as though he's making much of a difference in the world.

Story:

Little of Colonel MacIntyre Browning's background has been revealed, but it is known that he has a very high security clearance, as he was the first fellow the Army contacted when they figured out that something 'really bad' had happened in Pittsburgh.

Blowing his 'cover' to collect him (apparently the good Colonel didn't tell his neighbors that he was in Army intelligence), the Army flew him to the site of the Pitt as soon as possible, getting him to a makeshift forward base set up as soon as the Army could physically get there to do so.

On a reconnaissance flight over the devastated area, Colonel Browning found that visibility was still nil over the city, and figured that an 'up close and personal' inspection of the city was in order. Not willing to risk his troops to the unknown, though, he made a special call to his superiors.

Soon enough, they arranged to have Jenny Swensen mobilized. While she wasn't Army personnel, her (and her amazing Spitfire armor) were in the employ of the US government proper, and as such were 'on call' for just such emergencies. She arrived on the scene a few hours later.

While doing her own inspection of the area, Jenny determined just how horrible the devastation was in the former city of Pittsburgh, and even managed to save a family in danger on her way back. As soon as she cleared the crater of the so-called Pitt, she reported back to Browning.

Realizing the nature of the horror he'd been charged with investigating, Colonel Browning sealed the area off to all communications and traffic - even reporters. In fact, he was forced to have his men shoot down a local television station's helicopter who refused to obey his 'air seal'.

However, this was all for naught, for while he was doing his best to avert a nationwide panic, the Soviets released satellite photography detailing the Pitt in all its morbid glory - ostensibly to demonstrate their innocence in the matter. Not that the USSR could produce anything like the Pitt.

Once he gained full control of the area surrounding the Pitt, the Colonel was placed in charge of the Army's paranormal field operations for a time, a job he started by recovering the Spitfire armor. He and Swensen had a... disagreement after her initial recon, you see, and she went AWOL.

Though not working for the Army, per se, she bailed out and left him high and dry, and her MAX suit eventually ran out of juice. She abandoned it to eventually hook up with DP 7, and Browning had to find somebody else to ride in the thing - that somebody being Jake Travest.

Next, he had to deal with a rampaging John Tensen, who was hallucinating after being captured by authorities during the Pitt-Aid concert. The authorities drugged him into submission, fearing his powers, which reactivated the bizarre mental re-programming Daedalus Darquill gave him.

Mac's efforts were hampered by John Updike, an NSA operative who wanted to recruit Tensen. He was setting up that organization's own paranormal force, and figured Tensen would be a perfect addition - if an erratic one - to its ranks. Browning was having none of that, though.

Mac ultimately lost this battle of bureaucratic wills, however, when Updike tranquilized him for his efforts. The poor man even got rolled by a vagrants while he was out cold! Recovering from this soon after, Browning got called in to stop a paranormal fight inside Washington DC.

This battle, between the Psi-Hawk and Rodstvow, was causing untold damage to the city. The Army kept attacking both paranormals, but wound up getting damaged in return; Rodstvow had no compunctions against killing Americans, and the Psi-Hawk didn't stop him.

The Psi-Hawk's component minds, the teenaged Psi-Force team, talked Browning into letting them deal with Rodstvow to minimize civilian casualties. They were ultimately defeated, and Browning himself was left to watch, helpless, as the Russian burned the US Constitution.

As if all the other devastation Rodstvow had visited upon the city wasn't enough.

Seeing that conventional forces were of less and less use against such threats, Browning returned to the Pitt, hoping to do what he could to make sure the situation there didn't escalate. This didn't work out either, mind you, for mutant plants and old, god-like men kept showing up in the area.

The latter of the two threats, Jacob Burnsley, was attempting to repair the devastation of the Pitt, but even he couldn't pull this feat off. Further, his mere presence created more questions than answers for Browning, whose equipment detected Pitt-like energies in the old man.

Burnsley left without comment, though, leaving Browning even more confused than before. The adventures and military mishaps that Colonel Browning were subsequently involved in have yet to be revealed, for the third World War broke out soon after this last incident.
