Origin:
Professor Frankowitz is a believer, a type of psi that is invested in his philosophy so wholeheartedly, so absolutely, that he's actually developed several psionic abilities to match his particular world-view. He's so focused on his singular hatred of deific beings that he's manifested a variety of theonic powers that allow him to inflict direct damage against them and their schemes!
Known Powers:
Believer Psionics (Theonic Powers):
Antideionic Attack (t): this incredibly potent talent allows Alan to attack a target with antideionic energies. These blasts of power inflict Amazing (50) Deionic damage to a target, and have an Armor Piercing effect against specifically deionic protections. While indeed useful against most deific entities in the multiverse, this power is also quite effective against mundane foes, as well!
Theonic Invisibility (s): one of Professor Frankowitz's most useful abilities, this power provides him Unearthly (100) invisibility to the super-human sensory abilities of deific beings. These folks can still spot him with any of the five standard senses, but Frankowitz is virtually immune to detection by any of their enhanced sensory capabilities - whether they're the result of natural selection or deific intent.
Theonic Sense (s): Alan can sense the presence of immortal beings and their minions with Incredible (40) skill, making it difficult for such entities to approach his person without him knowing about it. A mere green power FEAT will highlight the presence of such individuals within Near distance of his person, unless they're specifically masking their presence from senses such as this.
Believer Psionics (Metapsionic Powers):
Greater Resistance / Deionic Attacks (t): this power provides the Professor Amazing (50) resistance to any power wielded by a deific being, which includes anything that inflicts Deionic damage, the special abilities of gods themselves, or the clerical spells or holy powers granted to their followers. This also, ironically, offers the Professor like resistance to the theonic powers of others.
Limitations / Enhancements:
(none)
Equipment:
Cryonically Treated Titanium Blade: if expecting trouble of any sort, the Professor will carry on his person a beautifully sculpted, cryonically treated titanium knife, about eight inches in length. This weapon is of Shift X (150) material strength, though the Professor can only use it to inflict Typical (6) Edged Attack damage per strike - enough to make most normal humans think again...
Quirks:
Enemy: considering his beliefs, it was inevitable that the Professor would wind up with mortal enemies. For one thing, the Church of Set is definitely out for his blood, after the Professor got even with them. Professor Frankowitz can also rely on receiving hostile reactions from closed-minded religious folk, especially if he's managed to specifically oppose their faith in the past.
Likability: if anything else, Professor Frankowitz is a charming guy, and as such, NPC reactions receive a shift for the better, if they are not already hostile, or the Professor isn't trying to make them so. If a contact is already on friendly terms with the Professor, that individual should react to him as if his Popularity score was +2 CS higher than is indicated above.
Reputation: the Professor has a definite reputation as an 'out there' sort of guy, as well as a highly charitable individual. Thus, individuals who appreciate such qualities tend to react to Professor Frankowitz as if his Popularity score was +1 CS higher than is listed above - assuming he plays the part whenever he's out in society (he must remain 'in character' to receive this bonus).
Talents:
Business / Finance: the Professor has invested lots of the membership dues the College requires into making it a significant financial entity, having learned essential principles of finance in college (as his minor). Of course, just because it was his minor doesn't mean that he isn't any good with money management - the exact opposite is true, in fact...!
Languages / Arabian, English and German: having grown up in the family of a British ambassador, Professor Frankowitz moved around a lot as a youth. Thanks to his past, he can read, write and speak in Arabic, English and German with ease, easily slipping from one to another as is needed. The Professor always intended to study more languages, but never found the time.
Leadership: the Professor is a highly charismatic person, able to lead others to do great things. Well, at the very least, people are more likely to do what he tells them to. Sometimes, folks just can't help it, really. Thanks to this trait, should he find himself in charge of a team of individuals, the Professor can add one hundred Karma points to its Karma pool (if it has one).
Martial Arts type A: as he is often at risk from dangerous cultists, the Professor has taken intense self-defense courses. Essentially, this talent allows him to make Slams or Stuns against any opponent, regardless of their comparative Strength or Endurance scores - quite the boon, considering that most of his foes are physically more powerful than he.
Philosophy: Professor Frankowitz is a well-regarded expert on various philosophies. That's his degree and life experiences talking. He's dealt with various matters of philosophy since his early teens, and since he's well over fifty now, well, you could easily consider him an expert. His Reason should be considered +1 CS in such areas, whether engaging in simple debate or when explaining philosophical matters.
Skill / Knife: the Professor, thanks to his time training with Abraham of the Cult of Isis, has learned how to competently use any knife in battle. He wields them at his Fighting (off) rank +1 CS, though he's working on attaining weapon specialty with his unique knife. Like his desired training in languages however, the Professor has not quite found the time yet.
Theology: while his college work officially involved a study of philosophy, Professor Frankowitz made use of the knowledge available to him by studying up on every religious belief currently active on earth. This, and his practical experience fighting bizarre new cults mostly unknown to history, has given the Professor a +1 CS to Reason FEATs made in this area of study.
Contacts:
As the founder of the S.C.F., Professor Frankowitz can definitely rely on them for aid, should he need it. In fact, they'll do just about anything he asks of them. Furthermore, the Professor has made a point of performing a significant amount of charity work throughout the city, meaning that he can rely on his many contacts in the city government for reasonable aid, should he need to.
Costume:
Professor Frankowitz doesn't wear a costume, as he doesn't typically go 'adventuring' about with other super-types. He normally wears expensive business suits, often with a generous cut, though he's seen more often than not in a crimson red suit of late, for purposes unknown. Furthermore, when doing something secretive, he often dons a silken red executioner's hood that conceals all of his facial features.
Personality:
The Professor is an exceptionally driven man, and has been since he lost his family back in '66. This drive is what pushes him on from day-to-day, making him do everything he can to derail the acquisition of power by any religious institution, whether it be good or bad, anywhere in the world. Of course, he does this with style, as the man is inherently charming and suave.

Story:
While he was away with some friends in downtown Cairo, little Alan Frankowitz's family was targeted by the evil Cult of Set. These heinous villains razed his family's home, skinning the British ambassador to Egypt, his wife, and his daughter alive, and then burning them at the stake as an offering to their evil patron. Of course, they didn't realize that they'd missed somebody at first.
Eventually returning home, Alan discovered what happened, and was aghast. A local service worker tried to cart him off to an orphanage, but Alan fought his way to freedom, hiding out in the streets of Cairo while he planned on getting even with whoever did this to his family. He might've died there, planning his petty vengeance, save for the intervention of Abraham.
A wandering monk from the Cult of Isis, this priest knew what happened to Alan after a brief mind scan, and offered to help him fight the evil that the Cult of Set represented. Without a second thought, Alan agreed to this offer, and began a two year period of intense training with the monk, during which time his feelings about gods, priests, and churches came into sharp focus.
Alan and his monk friend managed to find the fiends that slew his family, and proceeded to kill them in a savage knife fight. Of course, once this was done, Abraham tried to draft Alan into his own Cult, not knowing the depth of Alan's feelings about religious institutions. This totally backfired, and in a rage, Alan left the monk's service, and hasn't seen him since.
Coming to America, the last Frankowitz went to college to refine his ideals, and after four years of intense studies, he had a degree in Philosophy, and he'd formed the Scientific College of Frankology late in 1975. This College, essentially a club of like-minded atheists, was an organization that was dedicated to opposing organized religion in all its forms.
What's more, several members of the nascent College discovered, much to their delight, that they were developing several capabilities based on their beliefs, capabilities that made them exceptionally hard to be detected or harmed by the faithful followers and priests of various deities, who had by this time formed new churches throughout New York City.
As such, the Frankologists began a sort of guerrilla war with several of these churches and cults, gaining the enmity of the Churches of Hercules and Warriors of Thor in particular. Of course, no religious institution hates the Scientific College of Frankology more than the Cult of Set, unless you count the Knights of the Moral Majority, or maybe the Plebian Federation.
These two groups are 'religions' that have formed in the last decade, religions that have made it one of their prime focuses to wipe the concept of Frankology off of the face of the earth. Since these groups commit heinous crimes in the name of the religion they wear as a mask, this naturally angers the Frankologists to no end. Professor Frankowitz, in particular.
Though he's tried to be a peaceful man in his later days, numerous firebombings, arson attempts, and other such attacks upon the College have tried his patience to the very limits in these last few years. As such, it may not be too long before the good Professor goes on the warpath once again, taking up his dagger and anti deionic powers in the defense of Frankology!
