Origin:

As are the vast, vast majority of her fellow Joes, Lady Jaye is naught but a normal human, if an exceptionally skilled one. She has a completely mundane origin, one that is lacking in occult tomfoolery, significant genetic mutations, or anything else that is power-inducing.

Powers:

(none)

Hindrances / Augmentations:

(none)

Equipment:

Colt Python .357 Revolver (a): though skilled in most basic firearms, Lady Jaye prefers this classic, nickel-plated hand cannon. It can be fired to inflict her Agility +5 in damage per shot, though it has no high tech gimmicks like ported muzzles or laser sights.

Knife (s): Lady Jaye always carries a blade in a boot sheath, for she never knows when she'll need to cut something. Made from m.s. 13 metals, this knife can be used to slice through items of like m.s., and allows Lady Jaye to inflict +2 slashing damage in melee.

Power Javelins (s): curious weapons that Lady Jaye have mastered with time and perseverance, these things can be wielded in melee combat to inflict her Strength +3 in piercing damage, or thrown at her target to inflict like damage.

The odd thing about these devices is that Lady Jaye sometimes utilizes specialized javelins on missions, and all manner of high tech devices have been built into them over the years; she's almost like Hawkeye in that regard, always pulling some new javelin ability out of nowhere.

The specific nature of specialized power javelins that Lady Jaye has utilized in the past isn't necessarily documented, for they are too various and intermittent to pin down. However, players wishing to do so may work out a card draw worth of power javelin abilities for use on a mission.

The effects of said javelins shouldn't be unbalancing, and should be relatively simple in scope. Some examples include diamond-tipped javelins, light-casting javelins, javelins with a climbing line within, javelins with a net within, or javelins that extend like a vaulting pole.

Video Camera (i): this high tech camera records anything Lady Jaye desires. The camera is small and compact, and can record up to six hours of regular video (or two with the 'cleaner' video setting activated) per tape, and she always has tapes ready for extended surveillance.

Skills:

Boxing (s): knowing that you can't always blast away with a hand cannon, Lady Jaye has received training in hand-to-hand combat. In melee, she can divide her pre-card play action score between two unarmed attacks, the last of which occurs as a contingent action.

Detective / Espionage (i): a graduate of the Intelligence School at Fort Holabird, Lady Jaye is well-versed in information gathering and surveillance operations. Whenever engaged in detective or espionage work, Lady Jaye may reduce the difficulty of applicable card play.

Guns (a): as a part of her required basic training regimen, Lady Jaye learned how to use most standard Army firearms - even if she prefers her Colt revolver. When using standard, semi-automatic, or fully automatic weapons, Lady Jaye may do so at a reduced difficulty.

Languages / Afghani, English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Polish, and Russian (i): a large part of Lady Jaye's intelligence training involved learning multiple languages, to better blend in on foreign soil. As such, she can speak, read, and write in all of these tongues.

Military / United States (w): the source of the vast majority of her talents, this 'background' skill demonstrates Lady Jaye's understanding of military protocols and procedures. In addition to providing a convenient origin, this skill grants Lady Jaye two free military contacts.

Martial Arts (a): supplementing her boxing abilities, this skill represents Lady Jaye's advanced melee abilities. It allows her to lower by one level the difficulty on actions intended to dodge attacks, catch thrown weaponry, or strike in unarmed combat.

Performer (w): before she became a major intelligence operative, Lady Jaye was quite an accomplished actress. She can easily adopt the body language, mannerisms, and even speech patterns of others, and can distract others with a successful Willpower (willpower) action.

Piloting (a): Lady Jaye is a fully competent and accredited pilot of single-engine, fixed wing aircraft. While she isn't specifically trained as a combat pilot, Lady Jaye can nonetheless fly most airplanes with ease, attempting any maneuvering actions at a reduced difficulty.

Skill / Crossbows (a): in addition to learning how to use most firearms, Lady Jaye has pursued training in the use of the reflex crossbow - possibly in some sort of competition with Scarlett. When firing such weaponry, Lady Jaye does so at a reduced difficulty.

Skill / Javelins (s): since she uses so many of the things while in the course of a mission, Lady Jaye has learned how to wield these weapons competently. Whether she's brandishing it at a body in melee or flinging it at them, Lady Jaye may do so at a reduced difficulty.

Contacts:

As a member of GI Joe, Lady Jaye can readily rely upon her fellows for aid in a pinch; as self-reliant as Lady Jaye is, people tend to pay attention when she asks them for assistance. Furthermore, she has numerous additional contacts in military, intelligence, and acting circles.

Calling:

Soldier: Lady Jaye has a no-nonsense nature about her while on the job that allows her true motivations to shine through. She does her job as a part of her duty to her country, to be sure, but Lady Jaye mostly strives to do her level best on a mission just to prove that she can.

Lady Jaye's first field uniform, adopted upon joining GI Joe, consists of lime green trousers, a lime green short-sleeved, collared shirt, a lime green backpack for her gear, a brown belt, a brown firearm holster, black leather boots and gloves, and a black baseball cap.

Personality:

Lady Jaye is a highly skilled actor, who can easily blend in just about anywhere. She excels at everything she does, whether it be acting, flying, or fighting - she's very competitive. That may be why, for some reason, she just doesn't get along with anyone of the female persuasion.

Or not - it's hard to tell. Regardless, on the few occasions when she does let her guard down, Lady Jaye can be warm and friendly to those around her - especially those she works with on a regular basis.

Story:

The young woman that would become GI Joe's one and only Lady Jaye began her adult life with aspirations of a serious acting career, graduating from Bryn Mawr and doing graduate acting work at Trinity college in Dublin - which accounts for the slight Gaelic lilt in her voice.

While she did become a great actress, she wasn't destined for fame and stardom. You see, the Army is always on the lookout for people with her particular skills, and after recruiting her into their ranks, they sent her into Intelligence School after her basic training was done.

The Lady has proven to be more than effective in several spheres of talent, though, becoming highly proficient in more than a half dozen languages, various intelligence techniques, single engine, fixed wing aircraft piloting, and even the use of various obscure weapons.

A veritable jack of all trades that excels at everything she puts her mind to, Lady Jaye was a perfect fit for the GI Joe team, though once placed in that anti-terrorist outfit, it quickly became apparent that she has a problem working with - or even dealing with - other women.

In fact, she's had a caustic working relationship with Scarlett from the day she entered GI Joe's headquarters, the Pit, though the two have at least come to terms over time. No longer actively hostile towards Scarlett, Lady Jaye can even be civil towards her occasionally!

At the same time, Lady Jaye was also put off by the loud, arrogant demeanor of another Joe who joined at same time - Flint. Naturally, the man was enamored with her, and he kept working on getting a date with the Lady until she finally was able to see through his boisterous exterior.

After this, the two began an on-again, off-again relationship, and worked on countless missions together. It is unknown if this was done because of their status or simply because the two Joes do, in fact, have complementary talents that help them accomplish their mission goals.

Either way, Lady Jaye doesn't let her personal life interfere with the job at hand, and has proven to be a boon to GI Joe's intelligence-gathering mechanism. Her acting skills, mastery of languages, and sheer stubbornness have meant success for the Joe team time and time again.

She was present during many huge GI Joe operations, including the battle of Springfield, the Cobra Island Civil War, the Battle of Benzheen, and plenty of still-classified, GI Joe 'special missions' vital to national security - even some that didn't even involve Cobra!

Lady Jaye served on the GI Joe team until it was deactivated in 1994, at which point she partially retired from the military, working as an advisor in intelligence circles. During this time, she and Flint eventually tied the knot, and lived 'happily ever after' - at least until Cobra returned.

(Historical Divergence)

She was one of the first Joes to resume the fight against evil, alongside her new husband. Lady Jaye stuck with the team through thick and thin in their second war against Cobra, and was around to see it crumble anew, though things didn't improve upon that group's implosion.

While investigating details regarding Cobra's latest fall, the Joes stumbled across the existence of another terrorist group, calling itself the Red Shadows. When this group attacked Flint, Lady Jaye tried to save him from Dela Eden, one of the chief Shadows, but died in the attempt.
