Origin:

Lynton Felix is like most GI Joe operatives, in that he lacks super-human powers whatsoever. He has no mysterious legacy hanging over his family tree, nor sorcerous training, much less any psionics. No, he simply fights the forces of evil with his fists and government-issued hardware.

Known Powers:

(none)

Limitations / Enhancements:

(none)

Equipment:

Helmet: Skydive's helmet has two functions. It protects against head injuries, providing him rank value 10 defense versus physical attack striking him in the cranium, and also has darkened goggles that provides him Screened Senses, for his vision at least, at a like value.

Knife: paratroopers always carry a blade on the job. Made from m.v. 40 materials, Skydive can either use this tool to cut through items of up to like m.v., given enough time, or to inflict his Brawn value in Slashing damage during melee combat.

M-16 Machine Gun: Skydive may discharge a single round from his primary firearm to inflict rank value 6 Piercing damage, a three-round burst of such to inflict rank value 10 Piercing damage, or fire it continously to inflict rank value 20 Piercing damage.

Parachute: naturally useful when leaping out of an airplane, Skydive obviously needs one of these when doing the whole paratrooper thing. This item allows him to exit a flying vehicle from extreme heights, and easily land on the ground without flattening himself.

Sidearm: holstered on his left leg, this weapon is a convenient backup in the event that Airborne's machine gun isn't handy. He can fire a single round from this piece to inflict rank value 6 Piercing damage, or a short burst of such to inflict rank value 10 Piercing damage.

Quirks:

(none)

Skills:

Guns: a part of his Army basic training, Skydive can use almost all conventional firearms with proficiency. Whether he's toting standard, semi-automatic, or fully automatic rifles or pistols, Skydive may fire such weapons as though his Coordination was +1 RS in value.

Leadership: Skydive was chosen to assemble and head up the Sky Patrol due to his considerable leadership skills. In addition to allowing him to easily plan and execute strategies before and during battle, this skill lets him add one hundred Fortune to any pool he's in charge of.

Martial Arts style B: another facet of his Army basic training, this skill describes Skydive's ability to defend himself while unarmed. He may attempt any unarmed strikes, from punching to kicking to elbow smashing, at a +1 RS to his listed Melee trait.

Military / United States: the source of Skydive's many and varied talents, this skill serves as a handy origin for the man. His Army training has given him an inherent understanding of military policies and procedures, on top of additional, floating military contacts.

Survival: an Army Ranger, Skydive can get by just about anywhere. No matter how horrible a situation he finds himself in, Skydive can typically scrounge up enough food, water, and shelter to survive, if not actually thrive - the man actually enjoys eating snakes and water bugs!

Contacts:

A member of GI Joe and leader of the Sky Patrol, Skydive can readily rely upon his fellow joes for help when needed (not that he ever does). Furthermore, Skydive has the benefit of several additional, as of yet unstated contacts of a military nature he's acquired over time.

Costume:

Skydive's first GI Joe field uniform is comprised of a deep blue jacket, deep blue trousers, dark gray leather boots and gloves, a white knife sheath around his lower right leg, a white holster around his left thigh, silver web gear, and a steel helmet with black goggles.

Personality:

Lynton is strong both physically and mentally, and truly enjoys the survivalist lifestyle. Known throughout the Army for his sheer toughness, he's spent years shaping the best Rangers the military has on staff, and is a born leader - which is probably why he's risen so high in the ranks.

Real Name: Lynton N. Felix, grade E-8
Occupation: soldier
Legal Status: citizen of the United States with no known criminal record
Marital Status: single
Alias(es), if any: none
Group Affiliation: GI Joe

Height: 6'
Hair: brown
Eyes: brown
Weight: 195 lbs
Other Distinguishing Characteristics: Skydive wears a large, thick black moustache at all times, as well as the stereotypical 'buzz cut'.

Story:

Skydive is the quintessential Ranger. He's been in the Army throughout his adult life, and has enjoyed every minute of it. He loves nothing more than going on a twenty mile march and then dropping himself into the wilds with nothing to eat but whatever he manages to scrounge up.

He also spent ten years on staff at the Ranger School in Fort Benning, and has earned a very specific reputation for being the toughest NCO in the program. He trains troops as hard as he possibly can, trying to prepare them for virtually anything they'll encounter in the field.

His 'train hard and fight easy' policy is what got him noticed by the GI Joe bigwigs. Needing to produce a special team to take on Cobra's Python Patrol, they recruited him to put it together and, picking the best folks he could find, Skydive did just that in short order.

Calling them the Sky Patrol, Skydive assembled five men to serve under him, all of which became GI Joes in their own right (once they passed its grueling entrance exam). With Airborne 2, Airwave, Altitude, Drop Zone, and Static Line, he fights the good fight against Cobra's Pythons.

Helping them in this dangerous fight is a small arsenal of GI Joe (and captured Cobra) vehicles fitted with an experimental, chromium stealth technology, which allows them to rapidly get anywhere necessary on a mission with the same radar invisibility the Pythons enjoy.

Not that they really need it. Their true capabilities lie in their individual skills, after all! Skydive and his Sky Patrol completed countless 'special mission' deployments against the Python Patrol, doing so until the GI Joe team itself was disbanded late in 1994.

(Historical Divergence)

They returned in various incarnations afterwards, however, depending on Cobra activity around the globe. Though not active at this point, Skydive has made himself available should the team require his assistance, as they often do when Cobra activities get out of control.

Such as when they triggered none other than World War III, and almost took over the entire world in one fell swoop.

2011 Variations

Equipment:

Jet Pack: one of Skydive's recent equipment additions, this back-mounted device allows him to soar through the skies! Featuring collapsible wings and a small jet thruster, this (very) personal vehicle allows Skydive to fly with rank value 20 ability, or at 136.36 MPH!

But wait, there's more! Supplementing this already incredible capability, Skydive's jet pack is armed with not one, but two bombs! These devices can be dropped on an opponent or structure from above, and detonate on impact to inflict rank value 30 Slashing (fragmentary) damage!

Costume:

Different than his original, Skydive's second uniform includes a green and gray jacket, brown camouflage trousers with black padding, black leather boots, a green leather belt, gray leather gloves, gray knee pads, green and gray equipment pouches, and a white helmet.
