Origin:

As is the case with the vast, vast majority of the GI Joe team, Snow Storm is but a normal human - at least, in a physical sense. However, he does carry a wide variety of advanced equipment that is years ahead of the rest of the world, so he could be considered a high tech hero.

Powers:

(none)

Hindrances / Augmentations:

(none)

Equipment:

Glacier Gun (i): this creatively named weapon is actually just an ordinary man-portable missile launcher. It can fire a total of two missiles before it needs a reload, missiles which inflict intensity 10 damage to everything within near missile range of where they hit.

Knife (s): a vital tool for a Joe in the field, Snow Storm naturally carries one of these with him in the event of emergencies. He can use it to cut through items of up to m.s. 13, given enough, and can inflict his Strength +2 in slashing damage with it in melee.

Machine Guns (a): Snow Storm usually has at least one of these handy while on the job. He can discharge one round with these weapons to inflict his Agility +4 in damage, his Agility +5 in damage if firing a short burst, or his Agility +6 in damage when fired continuously.

Sidearm (a): a backup piece, Snow Storm can fire this weapon just as well as his machine guns. A single shot with this hand cannon will inflict his Agility +4 in damage, though a short, controlled burst will ultimately raise this damage to +5.

Thermal Suit (s): this handy device is a full bodysuit that Snow Storm can wear while working in the cold - without feeling it! It is heated from the inside, and has air-circulation units that spread the warmth throughout his body. It has these abilities:

* Helmet (s): the helmet on Snow Storm's thermal suit protects his head from injury; he possesses intensity 8, or +2, protection from physical attacks that strike him there. The visor is equipped with an anti-fogging mask that allows him to see no matter how frosty it gets outside.

* Resistance to Cold Attack (s): the principal purpose of Snow Storm's suit, it keeps him warm no matter how cold the weather is. Functioning at intensity 16, or +4, it'll keep him at a comfy 75 degrees even if it gets down to 25 below outside.

Skills:

Boxing (s): like every other military recruit in America, Snow Storm was taught how to fight even without weapons. He may divide his pre-card play action score between two unarmed melee attacks, the last of which he may attempt as a contingent action.

Guns (a): Snow Storm is well trained in the use of most modern firearms - it's just a part of his job description. He can fire standard, semi-automatic, or fully automatic rifles or pistols at one difficulty level lower than is normally required.

Languages / English and Spanish (i): a Havana native, Snow Storm moved from Cuba to America at some point in his past. He presumably knows both of these languages, being able to read, write, and speak in each fluently.

Military / United States (w): the source of all his skills (and his high tech gear), Snow Storm can consider the military an origin of sorts. Thanks to his intense training, Snow Storm knows the SOP in an instinctual manner, and can function in a martial environment with ease.

Survival (w): advanced training he received upon joining the GI Joe team, Snow Storm can now be considered a cold weather specialist. He can easily get by in the tundra, scraping up enough food, water, and shelter to survive no matter how horrible it gets out there.

Contacts:

As a member of the GI Joe team, Snow Storm can easily rely upon his fellows for aid should he but ask. He is on particularly good terms with his fellow cold-weather specialists, as they all know just how rough their job against Cobra can actually be.

Calling:

Soldier: Snow Storm loves his country, and is ready to fight hard to protect it from evil - no matter the form it takes. As long as the orders he is given remotely make sense, he's happy to follow them to the letter, for he trusts his GI Joe superiors!

Costume:

Snow Storm's first GI Joe uniform is a high tech thermal suit! It is mainly a white, padded affair throughout, though it is accented with bright orange boots, belts, gloves, shoulder pads, external tubing, and an orange and white helmet with a clear visor.

His second uniform is a differently colored thermal suit. This one is also primarily white in hue, and still heavily padded, though it is accented with bright blue boots, belts, gloves, shoulder pads, orange external tubing, and an orange and white helmet with a clear visor.

Personality:

Guillermo is more than ready to fight for what he believes in, which is why he enlisted in the first place. Of course the man doesn't actually like his current job, since it's so darn cold where he normally gets assigned, but he's willing to help out where he's needed the most.

Story:

Not too much is known about Snow Storm's history before he joined the military. The man is a Cuban expatriate, born in Havana but clearly longing for the freedom one can't find there. He liked his new home in America so much that he enlisted to protect it!

On one particular mission for the military, Snow Storm managed to single-handedly trounce a party of rough revolutionaries who were trying to infiltrate a peaceful Caribbean beach town. Luckily for him, this act was witnessed by the GI Joe team's Colonel Courage.

Thinking that the man had what it took, Colonel Courage recruited him for GI Joe on the spot. Once he'd passed the team's horrible entrance exams, he was given his first assignment: the protection of a research station at the north pole that was being menaced by Vipers!

Snow Storm simply hated this job. Not that he has a problem roughing up Vipers, so much as he absolutely hates the cold. The problem was, as Colonel Courage saw it, that despite his hatred for the terrain, Snow Storm was so good at the job. So he talked the man into staying.

This involved getting him a high tech, cold-weather fighting suit. Internally heated, this thing keeps Snow Storm nice and toasty while he's out wrecking up Cobras in the snow and ice. In the mean time, he's taken to learning how to actually survive - if not thrive - in the Arctic.

No doubt taking extreme lessons from Blizzard, Snow Storm can now not only serve effectively as a cold weather specialist, but can pass on survivalist training for the polar regions as well. This makes him a welcome addition to any snow-bound GI Joe squad.

Snow Storm served with the team for a while, though it was disbanded for a time at the end of '94. He resumed conventional service after this, though he did eventually return to the fold when Cobra's activities world-wide caused the GI Joe team to be reformed anew.

(Historical Divergence)

He participated in the second incarnation of the GI Joe team's most difficult battles against Cobra, including the second Cobra Island Civil War, not to mention World War III itself, where he helped his teammates fend off a Cobra advance in Russia.

Snow Storm continues to serve alongside GI Joe to this very day, helping the team round up all the Cobra fugitives who escaped when their Commander and a bunch of the Cobra Command itself were captured. Plenty of Cobra specialists are quite at home in the cold, after all!

1994 Variations

Costume:

Snow Storm's third GI Joe uniform is yet another high tech thermal suit! It is mainly a white, padded affair throughout, though it is accented with black boots, belts, gloves, shoulder pads, white external tubing, and a black and white helmet with a clear visor.
