Origin:

Like the majority of his fellow Joes, Barricade is but a normal human - well, in a physical sense, at least. He can be considered a high-tech hero of sorts, since he wields advanced military hardware that has yet to filter into common use even to this very day!

Known Powers:

(none)

Limitations / Enhancements:

(none)

Equipment:

Battering Ram Gun: this complex device is actually two separate weapons in one. Its primary function is that of a, well, battering ram, in that it can fire a large ram at a door or, say, barricade, and knock it down with Remarkable (30) force. It hurts people a lot, too.

Also, mounted on the top of the battering ram launcher is a rotary-barreled mini-machine gun. Barricade can either fire a short burst of ammunition from this cannon to inflict Excellent (20) Shooting damage, or fire it continuously to inflict Remarkable (30) Shooting damage.

Body Armor: since he's often fighting in urban terrain where attacks can literally come from anywhere, Barricade always wears his full body protection while he's in the field. This armor provides Barricade Good (10) protection from physical attack, and from fire as well.

Communications Device: mounted on his hip for ease of use, this device lets Barricade keep in touch with his fellow Joes in the field. Working at Poor (4) rank, it gives him a 5 mile comm range, and features Remarkable (30) ranked encryption so enemies can't easily eavesdrop on him.

Infravision: though a part of his body armor as a general matter of course (and providing like protections), Barricade's helmet is augmented with powerful sensors. Rigged with infrared detectors, this headgear allows Barricade to see into the infrared spectrum with Good (10) ability.

Knife: most Joes carry a blade with them in the field, since they're handy tools in many ways. Barricade's blade is made from Incredible (40) m.s. materials, and he can use it to either cut through items of up to like m.s., or to inflict Edged Attack damage in melee.

Z-99 Sidearm: this handy sidearm is a submachine gun that Barricade can use when his battering ram gun would be too unwieldy. He can fire this weapon to discharge one round, inflicting Typical (6) Shooting damage, raised to Good (10) in a short, semi-automatic burst.

Quirks:

(none)

Talents:

Guns: Barricade uses a lot of guns on the job. Whether he's wielding a standard, semi-automatic, or fully automatic rifle or pistol, or even his battering ram gun, Barricade may attempt attacks with such weapons as though his Agility was +1 CS in rank.

Martial Arts type B: an essential skill for military personnel, Barricade learned this talent during his basic training. It allows him to attempt any unarmed melee attacks, such as punches, kicks, or even head butts as though his Fighting rank was +1 CS higher than listed above.

Military / United States: the source of all his other skills, this talent serves as an 'origin' of sorts for Barricade. It denotes his instinctual understanding of military protocols and procedures, and allows him to seamlessly integrate himself into a military group.

Contacts:

Phillip is a member of the GI Joe team, though they mostly only know him as Barricade. He's come through for his fellow Joes time and again in the field and beyond, and as such they would gladly help him out, should he ask them for assistance in any endeavor.

Costume:

Barricade's GI Joe uniform is a suit of urban combat armor. His first consists of a dark blue shirt and trousers beneath brass-colored plates on his chest, shoulders, and thighs, not to mention brass-colored boots, gloves, and belts to hold his gear, and a red and brass helmet.

Personality:

Phillip joined the military to make a difference, and as the urban combat expert on the Joe team, he's easily done so. The man cheerfully braves battle fields that more sensible Joes would steer clear of if possible, trusting his expertise and bravado to carry him through to the end.

Story:

Not too much is known about the GI Joe operative identified as Barricade. He's demonstrated a lack of fear both in and out of battle, with a background in urban combat. He may have been a police officer before joining the military, but he's not talking either way.

Regardless, Barricade is the Joe team's expert in urban combat action, trained in such well before the idea became common in military circles. His unique training helped him to get onto the team despite its horrible entrance exams, and he's done right by the Joes ever since.

Cobra is often taking over urban environments, after all, and it takes someone with Barricade's skills to pry them out of cities and towns once they sink their fingers in. He was on hand for one such operation, when the Joes were sent to liberate the town of Millville.

Of course, by the time the Joes arrived, a bunch of Transformers had as well, and everything rapidly spun out of control. Having survived this encounter with alien robots, Barricade continued to ply his trade for the Joes until their first deactivation, in 1994.

(Historical Divergence)

It is unknown what the man got up to after this point, but he was more than ready to assist his former teammates when they reassembled - and asked for his aid. When the GI Joe team asks 'everyone' to help out on a mission, you can count on Barricade being there.

Like during the second Cobra Island Civil War, not to mention during World War III, which almost saw Cobra conquering the world. With the Joes having won that conflict, though, Barricade's abilities will be vital in ferreting out those snakes who have evaded capture as of yet.

Urban environments are always up there with Cobras, since there's so many places to hide, and so many hostages to take.

1993 Variations

Costume:

Barricade's GI Joe uniform is a suit of urban combat armor. His second includes a bright red shirt and trousers beneath brass-colored plates on his chest, shoulders, and thighs, not to mention brass-colored boots, gloves, and belts to hold his gear, and a red and brass helmet.

2004 Variations

Costume:

Barricade's GI Joe uniform is a suit of urban combat armor. His third features a tan camo shirt and trousers beneath dark brown plates on his chest, shoulders, and thighs, not to mention dark brown and black boots, gloves, and belts to hold his gear, and a like-colored helmet.

2016 Variations

Equipment:

Axe: good for chopping down obstacles both animate and otherwise, this ancient tool is a recent addition to Barricade's arsenal. It is of Remarkable (30) m.s., and can be used to either hack through items of up to like m.s., or to inflict his Strength +1 CS in Edged Attack damage.

Shotgun: when fighting up close, Barricade can discharge birdshot, inflicting Typical (6) Shooting damage to everything in a thirty degree arc, buckshot to inflict Good (10) Shooting damage to adjacent foes, or slugs to inflict Excellent (20) Shooting damage to a single foe.

Taser: a 'less than lethal' weapon, Barricade can fire these twin darts at an opponent, which inflict Feeble (2) Edged Attack damage, but deliver an electrical pulse that will Stun those who cannot pass an Endurance FEAT against its Excellent (20) intensity.

Costume:

Barricade's GI Joe uniform is a suit of urban combat armor. His fourth is like his first, comprised of a dark blue shirt and trousers beneath brass-colored chest, shoulder, thigh, hand, and foot armor, not to mention brass-colored belts to hold his gear, and a red and brass helmet.
