Origin:
Like most of his GI Joe teammates, Nunchuk is a relativley normal human. He lacks super-human powers altogether, assuming you don't count his ninja training, which may or may not have a supernatural aspect to it. Additionally, he does use advanced technology now and then.
Powers:
(none)
Hindrances / Augmentations:
(none)
Equipment:
9mm Pistol (a): while he's a top notch ninja, Nunchuk knows that guns come in handy during modern military missions. He can discharge one round from this device to inflict his Agility +4 in damage, or a semi-automatic burst of rounds to inflict his Agility +5 in damage.
Cluster Blast Bomb (i): Nunchuk can fling this explosive device at any opponent within near missile distance of his current location, inflicting intensity 10 fragmentary damage to any uncovered targets within near missile distance of where it explodes.
Knife (s): sheathed on his web gear, this handy 'clean cut' knife has many practical uses. Made from m.s. 13 materials, it can either be used to cut through materials of up to like m.s., given enough time, or to inflict Nunchuk's Strength +2 in slashing damage in melee.
Nunchaku (s): his namesake, Nunchuk carries a nunchaku made of banzai oak, the two halves connected with an 'unbreakable' chain. He can use this weapon to inflict +3 damage, though he knows the dread 'Samurai Strike', which allows him to increase this damage to +5.
Shuriken (a): handy for those situations where he can't necessarily use a gun, either for sound discipline or a lack of ammunition, these throwing stars have saved Nunchuk's life on more than one occasion. They inflict +2 damage, and may be reused if he can recover them.
Sword (s): a double-edged samurai warrior sword, Nunchuk frequently uses this potent blade in battle against Cobra - when he's not bashing those villains senseless with nunchaku. It's made of m.s. 17 metals, and inflicts his Strength +4 in slashing damage.
Skills:
Boxing (s): Nunchuk has mastered various self-defense techniques over the years. Trained to strike fast, he may divide his pre-card play action score between two unarmed melee attacks each exchange, the second of which will occur as a contingent action.
Education (w): Nunchuk's military specialty involves the teaching of self-defense techniques to other soldiers, helping them incorporate the martial arts into their routine. Unless someone's actively resisting Nunchuk's efforts, they can eventually learn what he has to teach.
Guns (a): one talent he picked up as a result of his military training, this skill describes Nunchuk's mastery of firearms. The man can use any standard, semi-automatic, or fully automatic rifle or pistol at one difficulty level lower than is normally required.
Martial Arts (a): part of Nunchuk's intensive training includes a mastery of various martial arts styles. As such, he may reduce the difficulty called for during actions intended to dodge attacks, reduce the damage caused by a fall, or strike others in unarmed melee.
Martial Arts Weapons (s): trained by several Arashikage clan masters, Nunchuk is a ninja! His intensive, quasi-occult education included the knowledge to wield all eastern combat weapons, ranging from bows to sais to shuriken to katanas to blowguns, without penalty.
Military / United States (w): after being recruited by Storm Shadow, Nunchuk mastered military doctrine. As such, he knows core military policies and procedures like the back of his hand, and can lead troops into combat whenever it becomes necessary for him to do so.
Skill / Nunchaku (s): his claim to fame, Nunchuk is the master of nunchaku. He is so skilled, in fact, that he may not only reduce the difficulty of attacks with them, but thanks to his martial arts weapons skill, he may resolve such card play with either his Strength or Agility.
Contacts:
As a member of GI Joe's Ninja Force, Nunchuk can naturally rely upon his fellows for assistance in a pinch, as they're a close-knit group. He can also count the GI Joe team on the whole as a reliable contact as well, since the Joes are the best of the best, and look out for their own.
Calling:
Peace of Mind: Nunchuk is constantly seeking to improve himself, whether such improvement involves his martial arts skill or some other facet of his life. He also feels it is important to share his insights with others, and enjoys helping them to improve much like he himself does.
Costume:
Nunchuk's original GI Joe Ninja Force uniform consists of green and black camouflage trousers, a green and black camouflage long-sleeved shirt, black leather gloves and boots, a black leather belt, black web gear, and black ninja headgear with a havlok covering.
Personality:
Ralph is a fellow that is driven by the need to achieve his own, personal form of perfection. This causes him to constantly work at mastering his various skills, and seek out new instructors to help him better himself. Similarly, he likes to help others better themselves, as well.

Story:
Nunchuk has always been fascinated with martial arts. This is why he eventually moved from his native Brooklyn to Denver, Colorado, to study mystic fighting forms with a mysterious, blind master there. His fascination eventually led him to leave there for San Francisco.
There, in another mysterious school, Nunchuk gained the personal attention of the sensei, the one and only Storm Shadow, who decided to take his ongoing development personally. Of course, this was because he saw great potential in Nunchuk, both as a person and as Joe.
When Nunchuk was ready, Storm Shadow inducted him into the GI Joe team, and (after some basic military training) brought him in as a member of his ultra-secretive Ninja Force. This group is a small GI Joe sub-team, one that consists of expert martial artists and, of course, ninjas.
This group performed all kinds of shady operations for the Joes. These often involved deadly conflicts with the techno-ninjas known as the Night Creepers, as well as ninjas in the direct employ of Cobra. These included Slice, Dice, the Ninja-Vipers, and even a vengeful Firefly!
Cobra eventually stopped relying on expert martial artists, though, and the Ninja Force was deactivated soon after. Suddenly light on work, most of the Ninja Force joined Nunchuk in opening their own martial arts accademy, in a particularly bad New York neighborhood.
(Historical Divergence)
Nunchuk stayed there for several years, honing both his skills and those of his young charges, until he was eventually called back into action by the Joes. Of course, by this time Storm Shadow had once again joined Cobra, making it a particularly painful assignment.
But Nunchuk nonetheless perseveres, fighting the good fight to this very day!
1994 Variations
Equipment:
Bow (a): when working as one of GI Joe's Shadow Ninjas, Nunchuk carries a bow to slay enemies at range, as it's much more stealthy than his 9mm pistol. Each arrow fired from this weapon will inflict his Agility +4 in piercing damage upon puncturing its target.
Inviso-Power Suit (i): an upgrade to his original costume, this uniform is equipped with specialized optic devices. Possibly based on Zartan's designs, these costumes effectively render their wearers invisible, doing so with intensity 10 ability.
Sickle (s): like his blades, this is an almost creepy-looking weapon that Nunchuk carried as a Shadow Ninja. Made from m.s. 13 materials, Nunchuk can use this hooked blade to inflict his Strength +3 in slashing damage, though it also helps while climbing vertical surfaces.
Costume:
Nunchuk's second field uniform is a variation on his first. It consists of green and black camouflage trousers, a green and black camouflage long-sleeved shirt, black leather gloves and boots, a black leather belt, black web gear, and black ninja headgear with a havlok covering.
While cosmetically identical, the difference is that Nunchuk's second uniform is equipped with high-tech Inviso-Power. What this means is that the suit is essentially a cloaking device, allowing Nunchuk to fade in and out of visibility, per the suit description above.
2002 Variations
Equipment:
Submachine Guns (a): Nunchuk recently added more firearms to his arsenal. He can discharge one round from them to inflict his Agility +4 in damage, a short burst of such to inflict his Agility +5 in damage, or fire them continuously to inflict his Agility +6 in damage.
Costume:
Nunchuk's third GI Joe uniform, adopted upon his rejoining the team, is... less. It features black, loose-fitting pants with a GI Joe logo on the left leg, green, open-toed sandals, green wrist and ankle wraps, a green bandana, a green leather belt, and brown and green web gear.
2003 Variations
Equipment:
Submachine Guns (a): Nunchuk recently added more firearms to his arsenal. He can discharge one round from them to inflict his Agility +4 in damage, a short burst of such to inflict his Agility +5 in damage, or fire them continuously to inflict his Agility +6 in damage.
Costume:
Nunchuk's Night Force field uniform is a modification of his third. It is comprised of black, loose-fitting trousers (this time without a GI Joe logo on one leg), a black belt, gray, open-toed sandals, gray wrist and ankle wraps, gray web gear, a gray headband, and black camo paint.
2016 Variations
Equipment:
Darts (a): as a less-than-lethal ranged combat option, Nunchuk occasionally carries some dosed darts. These thrown weapons can only inflict intensity 1 piercing damage when flung, but are often dipped in substances that act to neutralize others with intensity 10 ability.
Sais (s): a supplement to his primary weapons, Nunchuk occasionally carries sais during missions. He may use his three-pronged sais to inflict his Strength +2 in melee damage, mainly using thrusting attacks, though they're mostly useful for blocking swords or other edged weapons.
Costume:
Nunchuk's fifth GI Joe Ninja Force uniform is like his original, and features green and black camouflage trousers, a green and black camouflage long-sleeved shirt, black leather gloves and boots, a black leather belt and bandoiler, and black ninja headgear with a havlok covering.
